The food is delicious. Side dishes are super yummy. The wait time is reasonable. Waitresses are very nice, they are all Korean women, very sweet and considerate. Loved the atmosphere when I went there on a Sunday for lunch.

I have been going there for more than ten years. Even there were different owners, the food is still delicious and always fresh. The only sad thing is no more free ice cream.

Had dinner here tonight, the service was surprisingly great. I am usually ignored at korean places but these ladies always came by to ask if I needed more water or side dishes. Very attentive and friendly. We ordered the spicy pork combo with soup. I love dumpling tofu soup but in my experience most places only give 2 pieces of dumpling per bowl. This place gave me 10 pieces! I was so happy I forgot to eat any of the banchan as I was focused on my soup :(

Soup is awesome! Lighter than most broths in other tofu places. And the sides look freshly good: noodles, potato salad, kimchi, cucumber kimchi, fish cake. Their veggie tofu soup is full of mushrooms and broccoli and tons of tofu! And the servers are energetic and nice.

Great service and great food! Will definitely come back! Portions are great and staff is incredibly friendly. Side dishes are also really good which is rare to find in Korean restaurants in this area. Definitely a gem in Diamond Bar!

We have discovered this place after the Korean restaurant we go to in Rowland Heights closed down. The pre meal sort of appetizer is filling enough. We have been regulars in this place that whenever we come we get 2 sets of them for 5 people. It is under new management now, but the quality of food is still superb. This is soul food for me…

Went to Cho Dang Tofu &BBQ for dinner. According to the sign, this resto was a grand opening. Ambience: The restaurant had a Japanese décor feel to it. Old wood, bamboo, etc. with pictures of Korean dishes on the wall. There’s one wall with kids art so you can tell this is a kid friendly reataurant. Service: Ok, maybe because I’m from NorCal and most Korean servers don’t make small talk or smile at you — I was really surprised by how friendly our server was. She made recommendations and topped off our water/tea. She stopped by our table multiple times to check on us(she probably could tell were ‘tourists lol). Food: They have combo meals, which I love and wish I can find one in NorCal that does it too. My husband and cousin ordered the Galbi & Tofu soup(seafood) combo. I ordered the seafood pancake. Before the main dishes came out, she gave us side dishes. Nothing out of the ordinary except for one. They served two whole fish! It wasn’t big but ive never seen that before. The Galbi and tofu soups came out pretty good. The seafood pancake was good but thick. I think she used too much of the pancake batter. Overall, I would come back again :)

4 and ¼ stars — good and friendly service comparing to most of the Korean tofu house. The waitress or owner actually smile and take time to listen to what you need. Food: Appetizer is delicious. Very standard kimchi, crystal noodles, marinated picked and etc. No fancy fish dish or pancake. I like the taste because they tend to be sweeter and salty, instead of sour and salty. I am going to review something that’s not on the menu. I ordered the pork katsu cutlet for $ 12.99. If you are ok with Korean style tonkatsu(solid and flat); Japanese tonkatsu style is more juicy and thick; you should give it a try. Very crispy and portion is fair. I just wish they gave a little bit more cabbage salad on the side. I will definitely come back for the soon tofu :)

Can always rely on Unilocal for something yummy in the Diamond Bar(DB) area for some good Korean food. DB tends to be concentrated of Chinese food, so find this place was a gem and was glad to try it. I came out here for dinner on a Friday, and the restaurant wasn’t busy at all — they still have their«Now Open» sign out front. I love the décor with the wooden asian inspired interior. The menu options aren’t overwhelming as they specialize in korean tofu soups and other main entrée items. I ordered the Combo: seafood soup + bulgolgi dish and bimbimbap. The portion sizes are great especially with the unlimited included banchan side dishes! We had no problem getting more of whatever we needed, so service was great. The food was delicious as well. The bulgolgi dish seemed a little small and I would love to have more of it.

Cho Dang is a cute and cozy Korean restaurant decorated with calligraphy wallpaper and traditional Korean accessories. Love the Korean flair here. We went during off hours, and there was a steady stream of diners. SERVICE: average, needed to reminders to refill water, tea, and banchan BANCHAN: ~ 6 refreshing dish and fried fish BIBIMBOPCOMBOWITHTOFUSOUP($ 16.99): authentic flavor and enough for 2 meals, add you own sauce SPICYPORKBULGOGI: too spicy for me to handle GALBITANG($ 11.99): nice comfort soup GINSENGCHICKENSOUP($ 13.99): comfort soup that may need additional salt to flavor accordingly to individual taste Overall about 3.5 stars, but bump up to 4 for the cute setting

Our first warning should have been that the place was totally empty. Boyfriend and I wanted to try something new and Cho Dang being new and close to Big Lots(our fave store!), we decided to have dinner here. We were warmly welcomed by a young lady and seated us close to the kitchen. Hmm, place was totally empty and we get to seat here, but ok. She gave us hot tea and took our orders. I ordered the House Special Tofu soup(oyster, clam, shrimp, beef) and Boyfriend ordered the Mushroom Tofu Soup. She asked if we wanted sides, which kinda confused us coz we thought sides came with, like in Young Dong Tofu. So we ordered the steamed dumplings. While waiting, I surveyed the surroundings and was wondering why all the Christmas décor were still up. Other stores already have Valentine’s stuff hanging, but whatever. Maybe they really like Christmas. She came back with our side dishes(it does come with!) and the only one we really liked was the fried croaker. Everything else were pretty bland. Our soup came in hot stoneware along with the rice. It was ok, although my soup had like two little shrimps and about two clams. Unfortunately, the beef and oyster were M.I.A. Boyfriend’s soup was lackluster as well. We had to send back our steamed dumplings as well because it was still frozen in the middle. This was really disappointing because the service was nice, but the food was not good. Plus, the place could really use some cleaning and organization. It really is not appetizing seeing the buss cart and cleaning supplies in the dining area. That should be kept somewhere else. Hopefully, they can improve the food quality so we can have more decent restaurants in Diamond Bar. I’m rooting for you, Cho Dang!

Just had a terrible dining experience here with my pops… on Christmas Eve. I can tolerate bad service if it’s unexperienced waiters/waitresses making small, honest mistakes. But I can’t stand these old Korean ladies who were rude and passive aggressive throughout our entire meal. And what makes me more angry is how they made sure to greet us loud & proud while we were leaving. The food wasn’t good either — just edible. The soondooboo was bland and the samgyetang chicken was so tough. I ended up spilling my soup everywhere trying to tear a piece with my chopsticks.(Go to il poom for samgyetang & youngdong for soondooboo, trust.) I’m Korean too, born and raised in Koreatown, LA and currently living in Diamond Bar literally a few blocks down from this place. I’ve never given a bad review for a Korean restaurant. This was our third visit and I can ensure you that my family will never be coming back here again. Merry Christmas, Chodang.

Absolutely love this place. The waitresses were super friendly, they were busy when we arrived and kindly asked us to wait and then sat us down within 3minutes. As they brought out our water they gave us a lot of side dishes to start with then took our order and our food came out within 7minutes. The food tasted very flavorful and warmed us up in the cold wear(50 degrees F). I would definitely come here again.

Very good banchan, flavorful broth, purple rice available, generous portions, and excellent service. I will definitely be back for my tofu soup fix! Recommended.

I really like this place! The tofu soup is comparable to Young Dong, but the banchan here is way better. I really like the starter fried croaker fish you get at the beginning. Other notable sides were the japchae and the fish cake :) However, I do wish the rice was served in the stone pot, and not just scooped from the rice cooker. Traditional décor/furniture. Service was lackluster at first(it took at least 10 minutes to even get acknowledged by a waitress after we were seated) until I believe the owner showed up — then everyone was all smiles and helpful, and the fun k-pop music was turned on. I will definitely be back! Yum!

My go to spot for Korean tofu is usually Young Dong. We decided to try this place out of curiosity. Here are the the notable differences. Cho Dang offers a little fried fish for an appetizer. No onion pancake. Cho Dang has old school Korean décor. That’s about it. It was kind of busy when we walked in. Only one server working and another on the phone taking orders. We seated ourselves and waited and waited and waited. About 10 minutes in, a server finally takes our orders. I understand it’s busy so whatever. The one girl working there was running around like crazy. They definitely need to hire more servers. The food is almost exactly like Young Dongs. I had the combination short ribs and beef tofu. The ban chan sides were delicious. The little fried fish had all the bones still in it. Not my thing, don’t wanna choke on bones. My girlfriend really likes it though. About halfway through dinner, there were fewer customers in the restaurant so the service went up dramatically. They became really nice and attentive. K-pop music started playing too. It should’ve been like this from the start. Overall, it’s a great spot for Korean tofu. I’ll give it another shot soon.

I’ve been spoiled by the good eats in LA. My favorite soon tofu spot is Seoul Tofu on Sawtelle Street. So when my friend recommended my boyfriend and I try this place, we had to rush over here. The banchans included: fried fish, kimchee, another kimchee dish, pickles, mashed potatoes, bean sprouts, and japchae. I wasn’t too pleased with the banchans – they were nothing special. Free refills is you ask them! We ordered the BBQ ribs and BBQ beef combos. The BBQ ribs probably came with 7 – 8 ribs. Small dish. Not too tasty. All bone. The BBQ beef was mediocre. Nothing special. Not too tasty. The kimchee and house soups were also not too flavorful. They were bland and I was pretty disappointed. I am not a big fan of BCD to begin with, but BCD trumps Cho Dang which is sad to say. If you really want soon tofu and willing to make a drive out for good food, please do yourself a favor and check our Seoul Tofu in LA. The food, service, and ambiance is well worth the wait, drive, and money. Take this from a foodie who is willing to drive wherever for good food. You will not regret it.

I had a hard time deciding whether to give this place a 3 or a 4 star… At the end I went with 3. Sowwy. My bf and I went some tofu to recover after a night of drinking(oops). Wanted to give this spot a try because of the 4 star Unilocal rating! PROS: –the little fried fishy, NOMZ –soup and rice are both in the hot stone, the metal bowls kept the food WARM through out the meal!!! YAY –decent banchan(chap-chee noodles, potato salad, cucumber) CONS –lack of servers: 2 servers for a weekend lunch was not quite sufficient. But our server was super nice and tried to come to us as quick as she could. –the soup was kinda … liquidy. Not thick enough, not enough meat, and wasn’t really spicy either. –where was this ice cream machine people talked about??? D: –the price was a whee bit higher than usual tofu places The experience was decent! Definitely a good cure for my hang-over and it was on my way home. As for the quality, I won’t drive too far to seek out this place again.

Not a bad place for soon tofu. The place is kept clean and the soup is pretty decent. Not overloaded with msg or anything of that sort. The banchan sides are pretty good and they keep them coming. Try the japchae side dish… it’s delicious! Place also serves icecream at the end of dinner(though the day I went it was out of order). Also comes with barley tea.
