Fantastic restaurant but my GPS got stolen out of my Chrysler van parked in their parking lot in the back of their building. Be warned!

If I had to sum it up in one word I would say«okay». It’s not the best phở(pretty lacking in overall flavour, not as hearty as I’m used to), the menu is limited(especially if you don’t want beef). The service was good and fast.

I cannot believe how good this food is. I’m convinced they’re putting crack in it. Ambiance –Not bad. Nice bar. The tables in the back are probably the nicest, as it’s by the board games and a big blown up photo of of a Vietnam alleyway. –I say«nice», but perhaps the best word is «not complicated». Simple, with a dash of some flare. Drinks –Nice. Fair prices as well. Food –Noodles — This is where this place shines beyond belief. I only get the veggie phở, and the broth is unbelievably delicious. I’m not sure if it’s the basil, or the mint, or what. but the portion is large. –Summer roll — I get these with tofu. They’re fresh and light. The peanut sauce is also tasty. Pickup time –It took about 10 minutes last time. Very fast. There’s one downside to this place. Eating in the daytime is somewhat annoying, as the windows have no blinds(or maybe they choose not to close them) and all you see is the Woodward construction. I’d recommend eating in only at night. Good service. Even better food.

Had a lovely experience here. Fresh hot phở with option to customize. Great for me as I love broth. They will veganize most of the dishes if you ask. The service was attentive and friendly. The ambiance is relaxed and laid back. The hot chili sauce with the veggie phở is to die for! Go there now and get it!

A solid, no-frills place to get phở in Detroit. The restaurant is clean, the service is quick, and they have vegetarian phở that is very filling and comes with tofu and veggies.

AMBIANCE: it’s actually a pretty cool, modernized restaurant. It’s a lot bigger than I was expecting. Great booths that face out towards the street. Tables and of course a bar, that was a cool addition, but I wonder if they have enough customers to fill this space. I ate dinner here at 7 and only 3 tables were filled. LOCATION: it is in midtown right by Wayne state. Easy access and street parking. Currently there is some construction but it doesn’t impede too much. Easy to find. SERVICE: friendly, quick, accommodating servers. Also, I got a free shot for checking in online, I didn’t even realize it nor did my server but she was very polite and checked on it and brought the shot right out.(It was disgusting btw, tasted like the Chinese medicine my mom use to make me take, but apparently it’s house made. It basically tastes like a more disgusting jäger for those who’ve never tasted Chinese herbal medicines) FOOD: the bowl was a good size, fitting of its«regular» title. It filled me right up. The noodles were cooked well. I ordered 3 types of meat, this is normal for me so I can try each kind to see how they are prepared. I got the round steak, brisket, and the meatballs. The round steak was perfect in size. The brisket was not tender, a bit too chewy and could have been sliced much thinner. The meatballs were nothing special. With that all said, the meat to noodles ratio was perfect aka enough meat to last till all the noodles are gone! Now to the most important part is the broth. Their broth brought me back to Vietnam, straight up street flavors. It was a very basic set of ingredients just as VN phở is because over their they only have basic stuff. Plus basic isn’t a bad thing. The broth was very authentic and hasn’t been influenced by the American need for sweetness like most phở places, which is also not a bad thing. I personally tend to like the sweeter flavors, but this brought me home to where my parents grew up. I’m thankful for their help in doing that. Would definitely come back, not only cause it’s the only phở place in town, but cause it’s actually good. PRICING: expensive for a bowl of phở considering it is not expensive to make. Their bowls were $ 2 – 3 more than the average. Their regular bowl came to be $ 10. Again, considering it’s the only one in town and it’s good, I’d pay again for my next craving.

Phở Lucky serves up the best comfort phở in midtown. This is the place to dine whenever you want phở or if you’re just feeling a little off; a big bowl of their phở will make things right. The textures and flavors of the P1(the one with everything it) are perfection. Each order comes with a plentiful heap of sprouts, basil and jalenpenos. Plus each table has all the phở sauce fixings one could hope for. Service has always been kind and quick. It’s also nice they have an offering of wines, beers and some other alcoholic beverages. On a recent visit, a Unilocal check-in special was a free apéritif. The aesthetics are nice, hardwood floors, dimmed lighting, large windows and high ceilings. And the acrylic chairs that look like they might just be pretty are actually really comfortable. The main room is spacious and has seating to accommodate different group sizes. There is seating at the bar area as well. The street next to it has ample parking, however on a recent visit we noticed that there is a designated parking lot behind the Addison with spots for Phở Lucky customers.

I can’t. It started out with these great spring rolls but the star came out and the broth had no flavor. I’m going to just leave this and go to Midtown Shangri-la.

I live an equal distance from here and Madison Heights. The location is great– I could definitely see this being my go to place after a game. The space is large and modern, minimal and simple decoration(not overly corny décor like most Vietnamese places). However, like I said before, I’m just as close to Madison Heights and Phở Hang is my go to. The menu is larger, the food tastes better, the portions are larger and the prices are better. If I’m around those parts, I’d go back but I don’t think id make a special trip just for this place.

This has the best phở broth I’ve ever tasted in my whole life. Let that settle with you from within. I normally get so full eating phở because it’s so filling but I can’t help stuffing my face when I eat this. Everything from here is so good! And the manager is a big help & super kind!

We went here with the out of town in laws. And like always had a wonderful time. The staff here is super friendly and nice. The food is always so fresh and good too! The owner was there and stopped by out table to say hi. All in all, a great restaurant! They even have a few board games, that our 5 year old likes playing.

So happy that there is finally a Phở joint in mid-town. Just close enough that I can get here on my lunch break! This is part of a local chain of phở restaurants. They serve good phở, but not as rich of a broth as you might get in Madison heights at some of the better places in the area. If you are in need of Phở, and you’re downtown, this is a winner!

I’d walk a mile for this delight! In fact, I walked 3. Phở was excellent. I walked the streets of Detroit as they were under construction. This place is about 3 miles from the church I was staying at. Temple Beth El(formerly a synagogue). I passed many eateries along the way but held out for the promise of a salubrious bowl of phở soup and was not disappointed. Pleasant environment /atmosphere, friendly help, prompt service — it was a true delight.

I went here with my roommate for dinner and ordered the vermicelli bowl with tofu. I really enjoyed it! I had previously tried the lemon grass chicken with rice and thought it was okay. But at this location, I got the noodle bowl and it was great! It had the noodles, peanuts, bean sprouts, tofu and some fish sauce that was delicious. I added siracha sauce as well. One of the workers, I believe the manager came over and kept trying to convince us to try the Phở. I said I wanted a noodle bowl and after I ordered, he brought over some samples anyway. It was good! I’d still a fan of the noodles, but if you like Phở, this is a great place for it! The atmosphere is casual and the food is inexpensive.

Our first visit here was pretty satisfying. The dining room was pretty empty midweek after work so we had our pick of the place. We were greeted and ordered some sake, and then an app, and our phở. The spring rolls were fantastic. I could eat these all day. For the phở bowl, I tried the P11 with eye round steak and meatballs. I liked the broth. Simple, clean flavors and lots of it. The eye round steak was thinly sliced and the meatball was more like a sausage that had been sliced into small knobs, so not exactly a meatball as you might come to expect it. Both the meats were cooked well-done and didn’t really have much flavor… the meatball had that boiled tight texture and I’d order the phở without it next time. All in all a great place to fill up for cheap.

I’ve been patiently waiting for a phở restaurant to open near downtown so I can satisfy a lunch craving. Phở Lucky is a great addition. We went for lunch and started with the summer rolls. They were perfectly packed, full of flavor, and the peanut sauce was delicious. A+ on those! They have Phở Ga on the menu, but it didn’t say if it is chicken in chicken broth or some other kind. I asked our server and he said it’s chicken in the beef broth. I opted for the veggie broth and it was good, but not as flavorful as I’ve had at other phở restaurants. The bowl of phở is actually really big. However, I ate the whole thing after telling my coworker over and over how full I was. I wanted more flavor, but it was definitely still good. I tried my coworker’s with beef broth, and it was so much better and more flavorful. I think that’s definitely the way to go if you’re looking for the intense phở flavor that we all love. Also, service was great and the food came out quickly. It’s definitely a new lunchtime staple even if I have to drive from my downtown office to get there since I enjoyed the meal and it was quick enough to be back in the office within an hour if needed.

As a Vietnamese person living in Detroit for over the past 5 years, I was so excited to hear about this place opening up in midtown. I’ve been to their Novi location. Is it the best for phở? No. Do I still love Que Huong in Madison Heights? Yes. But will I still go to this Phở Lucky? Yes :) This is the best Vietnamese restaurant in Detroit, because it’s the only one, lol. If you wanna rock at life, get the Phở Dac Biet, and put all those herbs and sriracha in there. Squirt a little hoisin and sriracha on the side too, to dip your meat in ;) seriously. It’s how we do it. It’s delicious. Happy eating! :)

Full disclosure: I am Vietnamese, Viet food is my favorite and I am so excited for this new restaurant in downtown, so close to my house! So this is a very biased review :) Opening 3 days ago, Phở Lucky is the first phở restaurant in downtown Detroit but with a recognizable chain name from the Metro area. Big beautiful dining room that will have a great view of the M1 and awesome location to the future hockey arena. Two rows of bar seating and a variety of seats to chose from in the main dining area. Street parking was easy this rainy night — perfect phở weather — but the street sign saying«Don’t leave valuables in car» made me chuckle. Thanks for the reminder?! Best of all, their liquor license is pending! Simple Vietnamese menu but covers all the basics! Apps, phở, rice, noodle dish and some drink options — a good but simple menu is key in my book! The goi Cuon, summer rolls with pork and shrimp, came out almost immediately and were delicious and fresh; I almost regretted having to split the dish with my dining partner. It’s nice they gave us two small dishes of peanut sauce as well, since they knew we were sharing it. 2 for $ 4.50 and no picture, sorry, too hungry! I ordered the phở dac biet, house special with meatballs, tripe and tendon as well as the regular goodies while my friend had the phở ga(chicken). Sweet soup base, lots of noodles but perfect for the cold rainy day. Add some veggies and hoisin sauce and it was like a warm hug for my soul. So excited for this new addition to downtown as I hope to become a regular here! Great service as well, and the owner Mr Cong, excitedly stopped by at all of the tables to chat with his new customers. He has a fun energy and high hopes for the restaurant and is a testament to the small business spirit of Detroit! Also There is a large phở bowl Eating challenge too — 1 lb meat and 2 lb noodles in 1 hour and it’s free! Otherwise $ 20. Even Lions players have tried and failed haha ask Mr Cong to see the pictures, they are hanging up on a back corner wall for now! Welcome to Downtown, Phở Lucky! I really hope you stick around for many many years!
