Good food split a mac and cheese and a steak and cheese with my girlfreind. Both were good and the staff was polite. The food must be good always see the local police going in for lunch.

This place has everything you want from a sports bar– a zillion tvs showing any game you want to see, a full bar with a great beer selection that includes lots of microbrews, and a perfect mix of classic bar food with healthier options too. Everything we’ve tried here has been delicious, and the staff are always friendly and service quick. I highly recommend the Irish egg rolls!

We are here prior to a wings game. We have been waiting over 45 minutes for our food… our server is a magician, a poor one it would seem, as he disappears and is unable to reappear. For our second time… Not impressed. Update: I’m so sorry mcshanes. Our food(baked Mac an cheese with chicken and buffalo chicken wraps) was soooooooo good I’m forgiving our AWFUL server.

My husband and I frequently catch the bus at the stop in front of the entrance to the restaurant and often see people walking in and carrying out food. Tonight, when having our usual«where are we going to eat» discussion, I suggested McShanes based on that fact alone… and I’m glad I did! Once you enter the main dining area, the space is very large… almost grand for a sports bar, with very large windows and a great view of Michigan Ave. Great atmosphere. I ordered the Shrimp and Crab Mac… it was excellent, creamy with still crisp bits of bread baked in to it! My husband ordered the Shepherds Pie… it was also very tasty(mmm that gravy!). The most impressive part of each plate however was the corn bread, that might as well have been cake! And I would eat the whole cake. Service was great, laid back, the way we like it! The ONLY negative thing I can say is that we didn’t know if we should seat ourselves or wait and had to ask. A sign(or better placed sign if there is one) or a hostess can go a long way :)

I’ve only been here twice but I’m very impressed. The food is great! I’ve had a burger and bangers and mashed. Both were good. They give generous portions and don’t break the wallet. The bangers and mashed is one of my favorite dishes and whenever I have a chance to get them at a restaurant I go for it. They are delicious here. The potatoes were homemade(real lumps) and the the sausage was good and had flavor. My one complaint is the service. Really disappointing. Waiting awhile for refills on my Coke, even after asking twice. It could be because I wasn’t drinking beer or liquor but still… I’ve been here twice both for a sporting event. The parking situation is good. They have security and charge $ 10…however they give you $ 10 in a certificate to use in the place. Which, assuming you planned on eating or drinking you have«free parking». The shuttle is great too. It’s free, and nowhere nearly as crowded as the Nemos bus. A real hidden gem.

Went to dinner there last night. Good fish n chips, but the wings are great. Best I’ve had in a long time. Nice sports bar atmosphere, good per game place to go.

I finally checked out McShanes last night after many suggestions from friends. I’m so glad I did! We arrived around 915, it was not too busy. We were able to get a table in the bar. Ordered drinks and Blue Chips for an appetizer. Blue chips were delicious, very cheesy but if you’re looking for a good appetizer to munch on while drinking with friends, you must try it. I ordered the slim Gaelic sandwich, which was still huge. My fiancé ordered the McShanes brisket melt slim, I tried a bite and that was also very good. Very Fresh corned beef & was not over cooked. The staff was very friendly, our waitress was also the bartender and even though she had quite a few other customers we were waited on very timely and she was very friendly. I can’t wait to come back and try some other menu items! Must check it out if you haven’t been there.

Well, it was a HUGE sign in th e street that said FREEPARKING but it’s $ 10 and you get a $ 10 gift certificate. That’s fine but it was a little deceptive. We were there on a Saturday night and it wasn’t crowded at all. My date ordered a great cranberry, ginger beer for only $ 3. At the waitress recommendation I got the shrimp and crab Mac and cheese. It was good. It had goldfish crumbled into it. My date had Shepard’s Pie and he enjoyed it. But the best thing were the Irish Egg Rolls. Deelish!!!

Thank you Mcshanes, for not sending enough buses out after the wings game to pick up people and have them stand on the side of the road and then ignore them when they ask where to meet you. Get it together or I won’t come again, very poor treatment of your patrons.

Love this place. When I used to work at a neighboring resturant, this was the stop to go and relax after a stressful day.

Never been to Detroit, but my hotel was near Michigan Ave and I thought this was one of the better pubs in Corktown. This has a primo whiskey selection and a solid choice of microbrews to choose from. Their menu is also decent as I had a large salmon salad, but there are many burgers and appetizers. I would definitely come here again to hang out at the bar and watch a game on one of their many flat screens. I just regret not coming here after the marathon, because I went to Nemo’s, where your menu choice is a burger or chicken sandwich.

Just left from this spot. The crab cakes and french onion soup was too good. I recommend it.

Good food and atmosphere. I love the fish and chips but I really truly love the draft beer selection. Always have michigan beers on tap. Great place to come see the games, especially lions and tigers. Plenty of televisions so you can stay connected to whatever sport your into. The service is hit or miss but definitely not the worst. Please try the homemade chips if you get a chance.

This was our stop prior to the Rolling Stones concert. It’s your typical bar food fare, and it did not disappoint. Food was good, although it took awhile… I’m sure it was probably because they were extremely busy before the event. Shuttle service with Kevin was great! I’d definitely recommend this establishment for dinner/cocktails before an event downtown. Staff were super friendly and efficient. Added bonus… free parking!

Met the owners in a bar near my neighborhood. They recommended checking out their place(McShanes) sometime. Ever since we checked it out we made it s refused spot to visit after trips to the casino. After a night at the casino we would then come to McShanes play darts, have some drinks, and enjoy some of their great food! Great friendly staff, plenty of beers on tap, lots of free parking, big space, juke box, darts, pool tables and even some other games towards the back. I recommend the loaded cheese fries for an awesome shareable item! They provide shuttle rides to the games, and this is a real good spot to bring groups. After saying all of that, it had been a long while since I last visited he place. I made some calls and gathered the guys I used to come here with. Wanted to recreate a fun night like the good ol’ days. Plenty of people told me its impossible to ever do that. It worked! And I think McShanes had a lot to do with it. After a few hours at the casino we all ventured over to McShanes and had a blast, played a few games of darts as usual and there was a group of friendly people at the bar, nothing but positivity filled the place and the night was a success. We will be back!

Came here based on a recommendation and overall it was not bad. They have about 20 plus beers on tap, all at a good price. For a starter I had their whole wings. They are saucey and pretty good(kind of a poor man sweet water tavern). For my meal I went with a burger and fries, both were good, but no where near great. Overall I would come here again for wings and beer, but that’s about it.

Do you like good food without spending an arm and a leg? Then you need to come here and eat. I new nothing about this place before last night, and I’m happy that I came here with the date. We were hanging out at the Casino and decided that we didn’t want to eat anything there because nothing sounded good. After scouring Unilocal for a while, we decided on this place, and we were pleasantly surprised. What initially drew us in was the menu selection of food, and after dining here, we will be back. Parking here seems to be decent, with a free parking lot on the other side of the street from this place. You can park on the curb as well, but those spots never seem to be empty. We walked in and the place was seat yourself. It was pretty full for a Saturday night with parties large and small. We noticed a pool table area in the back which was kinda cool. Nice thing to do to kill some time if your just hanging out. Plenty of TV’s with some games on and the volume(way) up so you can eat and watch as you go. Service here was really good. Our waitress was awesome! I forget her name but she really new her stuff. I noticed right away how she took our order. Technology has caught up with food service! She had this really cool electronic pad that she punched in as we ordered. I watched her as she did it because I thought it was really cool. Talk about modern. She clicked on our table(we were table 22) and punched our food in as we talked. I went with the small mac n cheese and a side of French Onion Soup. The date went with a Rueben sandwich and a really cool appetizer. I will say our food was good but I wasn’t overall impressed with the French Onion soup. It was a house twist on an old favorite of mine, and even though it wasn’t terrible, I didn’t care for it to much. It had a strong whiskey taste to it and a smokey aftertaste. I didn’t mind the smokey aftertaste but the whiskey taste didn’t work for me. The Mac n Cheese was delicious! OMG I WANTMORERIGHTNOW. The date loved his sandwich, and after trying my mac n cheese, we both decided that we wanted to come back for more. They have a few different styles of it, so you can have a crab n seafood one, along with a few other selections. Also, here’s why I didn’t give 5 stars. Ok, granted it’s my first time here, but from first impressions, these two things make it minus one star. First, the patio looked like a hot mess. Several dead plants, and kind of messy. I know it’s still cold outside but they really need to clean that part up. It looked bad walking in. Also, the bathroom is located near the front and it’s a one stall thing. Not even one stall. It’s like a private bathroom and no more then one person can be in here at a time. If you spend to long in there, a line forms. I was in the bathroom for 2 seconds and there were 3 ladies waiting when I got out. I wish they had a couple stalls so that the bathroom line doesn’t back up. The bathroom was clean and in good working order though. I know a bathroom remodel is asking a lot, and maybe I missed a set of bathrooms in the back or something, but being that it’s a bar and it’s busy, it’s gotta change. Being that I will be back in the future, I’m willing to bump them up a star if their patio gets cleaned up as we’re approaching summer. This place is a total gem, and worth the trip. Food was awesome overall, and we really enjoyed ourselves. We will be back!

They have final absolution on tap. Need I say more? Well, probably :) It’s a great corktown location. Perfect for a St Patrick’s Day parade beerfast or a stop before a Tigers or Red Wings or Lions game! The multi level floors make each area feel intimate and close, but there are plenty of seats. Note: during big events, they close their restrooms and only provide porta-potties outside.

McShanes is the worlds greatest Sports Bar! Best game day specials, Michigan beers on tap, awesome food and the best staff ever! If you’re a whisky afficionado see Bobby at the lower bar, he knows his whisky! I love this bar and the McShane boys!

Great food and killer appetizers. The waitstaff here is absolutely phenomenal. While their best known for their happy hour special, it’s a great place to eat drink anytime. If you’re coming on the weekend it’s always busy, but the staff there always does their absolute best to make you feel right at home Monday through Friday or the weekend. I’m a big fan of their overloaded cheese fries, which are lip-smacking good. Hammer of the gods is a great sandwich as has been mentioned here, but I like Gaelic Club, with that killer home ground mustard. In short, McShane’s is the hometown bar with mostest when I’m in the D.
