Excellent pies and large servings. Inside a bar! No access from the street. You have to enter from the parking lot. There is a large outdoor seating area as well as the bar. Did I say excellent pies!

Oh my goodness. I had no idea what to expect in ordering the SMOG. It was so freaking good. Great meat portions, flaky crust and the horseradish was full of flavor despite being mild. It’s a little whole in the wall with smoking in the outdoor patio that waifs in through the open window. Highly recommend and look forward to going back.

I’ve eaten three of their savory and 6 or 7 different sweet pies, and can honestly say have not been disappointed once. A favorite is hands down their mixed berry, when in season we’re there every Sunday. Their SMOG and apple are next in line, followed up by the key lime, which I’ve only had once but definitely want to try again. And with a 24 hour notice you can get a whole pie to take home!!!

Where do I start… was in the area wanted to try something new. Awesome choice I made, the con quiche pie was delicious! The flavors in it was just right, goat cheese, cheddar cheese, hint of onions, spinach, mushrooms. Piping hot! The only thing I did not agree with was the small slice given, $ 7 per slice. The only reason a gave 4stars

I went for lunch last week and had the S.M.O.G. pie with salad. It was a steak, mushroom, onion and Gruyère pie and was really tasty. It was served with a leafy salad of greens with a dressing that enhanced the greens rather than overwhelming them. So p, this place is a 4.5 for taste. The pie and salad was served on an aluminum plate. As a result, the pie was cold. I really do want my savory pies warm.

We had 4 hours to grab lunch in Detroit while my wife was at a wedding shower. After wasting 30 minutes researching where to go on Unilocal we discovered dangerous pies with only 3.5 hrs to go and very empty stomachs. It took us a minute to find the place because we didn’t realize it was inside of another bar– the 3rd street bar– a place my mother told us used to be where all the hookers hung out in the 70’s. Upon entering we could feel the«Detroit» essence all around us. My older parents looked alarmed, but the smell of flaky pie crust beckoned us to a back corner of the bar where dangerous pies was set up at a little table with a menu on the wall and a credit card reader. The left side was savory pie, the right sweet pies. We ordered the chicken pot pie, the pulled pork, and the con quiche tador. All were phenomenal. They are served on a bed of greens with a little cup of sauce in case you want more flavor. The crust was so flaky and melt in your mouth it was incredible. The crust was so good that the savory pies Almost felt like desert. We ordered drinks from the bar– and sat on picnic tables outside. We may have been the only ones to ever come here for pie in the middle of the afternoon sober and we are glad we did because we enjoyed it that much more.

We decided to drop in during our day trip to Detroit from across the border. A friend had mentioned it and said it was a cool place to go. I had the Ratatouille pie(vegetarian) which is exactly what it sounds like — Ratatouille in a pie! It comes with a really tasty spicy sauce that complimented it really well. Next up, I decided to go for a sweet pie as well and I went with the Motown Brown. A very sugary pie made of butter, brown sugar, and toasted pecans drizzled with chocolate and caramel sauce. This was pretty good but for people who aren’t fans of really sweet pies this one is not for you. The bar has a great selection of local Michigan craft brews. I recommend trying anything from The Poet or Motor City Brewing.

I really want to like this place better than I do. My husband and I wanted to get dessert, and decided to check out the pies based on Unilocal reviews. I honestly cannot believe all the 5 star ratings. There seems to be ample parking in a private lot, which was nice. The pie place is in the back area of a large-ish bar. There is a little table where you can order them, and they bring them out to you in a few minutes. They were not great. They were ok. The crust was not very flavorful and was dry. The Apple had too much cinnamon for our taste, and the apples were not very soft. The Baltimore Bomb is a custard pie with shortbread topping and dark chocolate sauce. The custard was kinda eggy and not very sweet. The shortbread was lost under the flavor of the chocolate. I had a bite of the salted caramel and the bite wasn’t bad-I tasted both caramel and salt, but my mom said it was just ok. It was way expensive for what we got-$ 19. The pieces are oversized, but the pies just weren’t good. We didn’t even finish them. I love the concept, but the recipes need some improvement. You can find excellent pies from Love’s Pies at Eastern Market. He makes the best key lime, and a custard pie called Chess Pie. Seriously amazing pies. And he is super friendly and has perfect customer service.

The SMOG pie was very good. You also receive a small salad with your pie. I give this place 4 stars because the portion was a bit small and my pie lacked mushrooms but had a nice portion of steak. My wife on the other hand had alot of mushrooms but not steak, lol. The restaurant is actually in a bar at the back wall and you have to ring a bell and order at the desk. I don’t fault the restaurant at all for that. It is actually a fun way to order and in a nice bar with a fun vibe. If I am ever back in Detroit near there, I would return.

Usually after a good meal, were not really up for desert. But since were out with our friend who doesn’t really frequent Detroit very much. I guess it’s just fitting to come here and have some sweet dessert pies. This joint is located inside 3rd Street bar in midtown. We wanted to keep drinking and we wanted some dessert, so this spot is definitely the right stuff for the moment. You order at the corner of the 3rd Street venue, their board is there where the list of their specialty savory pies and sweet pies. We were fancying their sweet stuff, the Boston Bomb and Motown Brown seemed really good. There’s a device on the counter, a big momentary toggle, you push forward for service. You hear the bell in the back ring, a person shows up a few moments afterwards and we bark out orders. She taps the handy dandy tablet, we pay and she tells us she’ll bring out the pies in a few minutes. We make our way to the bar, order a round of beers, sit down and converse for bit while we wait for our pies. When the pies arrive, they come extremely hot. Please use caution when eating these babies. They’re definitely hot enough to destroy your mouth. It definitely melts then tip of the plastic fork that they give us to eat the pies with. The pies are really delicious. I definitely like the one with the walnuts on it. I think that’s the Boston Bomb, the other one was sort of like a molten brownie pie. They’re both really delicious, im just more partial to the one with walnuts because I adore walnuts. I would love to have tasted the crust, but for some reason, our forks weren’t strong enough to break a piece off for tasting. Oh well, I still enjoyed them none the less. I’m looking forward to coming back and trying out their savory pies. Some of them look very very good. See you again next time Dangerously Delicious Pies!

This place is in 3rd street bar. When waiting to be helped, several employees walked by the 2 of us without even addressing us, but what can you expect from hipsters. When she finally had a minute someone came out from the kitchen to take our orders. She had some attitude when I asked how big slices we’re which I thought was a legit question. Whatever. Biatch. Guess I’m getting old, not tolerating these young folks. The salted Carmel pie was delicious tho! Perfect balance of sweet, salty. The center is almost like flAn. Pretty ok! I would like to go back for a savory pie.

We decided to try something different one day in Detroit. We headed here. After all the reviews we knew this would be good for a quick delicious lunch! Unilocal has never steered us wrong. Ok we were wrong. I ordered the SMOG– Steak mushroom onions and Gruyère. I was like wow these ingredients together sound amazing. I was so disappointed. If there was some flavor, some seasoning, just salt and pepper it would have worked. It was extremely bland. It seriously had no taste. My friend and I split the Baltimore bomb. It was good. The crust was flaky, the custard was sweet and delicious.

The pie place is hidden in the back of 3rd street bar. If you are like my friends and I and you get a pie craving at 1am then you will have to deal with a sea of drunk people at 3rd street bar to make it to Dangerously Delicious Pies in the back. But it is very worth it… the pies were excellent. They offer both savory and sweet options at this pie shop(check out my pictures to see the menu when I went). I got the ratatouille pie for my savory dish, and the apple pie for my sweet dish. The savory pie comes with a side salad and cost $ 7, and the sweet pie cost $ 6. I felt like for the size and quality of the food was really worth the price. The ratatouille pie was surprisingly tasty, and it paired well with the side salad. I shared it with a friend and it was enough for the both of us(we also shared the apple pie). The apple pie was delicious. The apples were thinly sliced and had a great cinnamon flavor to them. They also had a great caramelized flavor. The crust was perfectly flaky and slightly crunchy. Check this place out if you are in the Metro-Detroit area. If you want to avoid the bar crowed come earlier in the day(I believe they open at 11am).

I am sorry my fellow Unilocalers I thought I have rated this place before. This place has the most amazing pie you could ever ask for in Michigan. It is also cheap 6 dollars for sweet pie and 7 for savory. The size of the pies are not big though so you may need to buy a couple pies if you are hungry. I usually buy a savory(chicken is my fav) and a sweet pie(I love all of the sweet pies, but the baltimore is my fav). This place is basically a tiny room inside a bar(3rd street bar). It is a very hipstery bar. The people of the bar are not the nicest but don’t let that affect your experience with the pies because the pie people are the nicest.

My wife’s review: — I want to come back here and try all their pies. — it has a lot of light that makes me feel like I’m a human and not a mouse in a cave. — it’s like homemade yummy.

I stopped by for lunch and was not disappointed with my chicken pot pie. Not too large or too small of a serving. It took about 10 – 15 for them to warm up my pie to go and it was still warm when I ate it in the office. The crust is super light an delicious. You might think it would be heavy or chewy but it’s not, it’s great. I’d like to go back and try their sweet pies or savory pie with a beer from the bar. No complaints!

I am a pie fiend, and this little booth in the back of 3rd Street Bar does it right. I found this place surfing Unilocal and made a point of going here as soon as I could. I am glad to say that this place has not disappointed me. They do savory pies just as good as sweet pies. I have tried the SMOG, Chicken, Baltimore Bomb and the Motown Brown. If forced to choose, I would go with the savory pies over the sweet, but there is nothing better than having a meal all in pie-form. If you are a fan pie, this place is a must-go.

The first thing I thought taking a bite of this was«this would be fantastic drunk food». Definitely no coincidence that this little hole in the wall is located at the back of 3rd street bar. I’ve thrown back a few quite a many times at this bar but never tried the pies due to the long wait to get them, so I decided to come in on a Tuesday evening to try one. Finally. I got the chicken pot pie because I wasn’t quite sure what to delve into. I’m not much of a pie eater. I can tell you with my limited knowledge this was not Marie Callendars frozen pot pie. They give you a hearty slice filled to the brim with chicken. The creamy gravy on the pie was minimal, but it didn’t detract any moisture. The chicken was tender and seasoned minimally which allowed the buttery texture of the pie crust to dominate. Fantastic crust. I would eat the crust alone. I did wait about 15 – 20 mins for the pie to come out to me as a take out order and there was only one order ahead of me. So be prepared and grab a brew at the bar, the people that work there are very friendly. I’ll definitely be back to try a sweeter one.

Came here to celebrate with pie. I was disappointed to see that they didn’t have any fruit pies available(mixed berry and apple pies were both out). Come on, it’s a week night and it wasn’t busy. They had salted caramel, pecan, Motown brown and Baltimore bomb from the sweet pies(they all pretty much has caramel, pecans, chocolate or some mix of the above). Fruit pies to me are tastier and less sweet. I hate to say, but this was not my favorite pie ever and did not change my life. I would have preferred a nice burger for the calories. The bar it’s in is very nice. They had darts and other fun stuff, very cool rustic ambiance. I would go back to hang out in the bar and maybe try some fruit pies, hoping they’d be available.

Best Pie in the Detroit area, hands down. I have gotten pie from here countless times and had a great experience each time. I am personally biased towards the Baltimore Bomb — which is a custard pie with chocolate and melted down shortbread cookies = LOVE. I have also tried the apple and the salted caramel which were both great, but I think I have finally found a new favorite. MOTOWNBROWN. This amazing slice of heaven is a combination of chocolate, caramel and pecan pie. It is sweet, without being ovewhelming and I enjoyed every bite. I vote this spot as one of my favorites because not only do they deliver on their grub, but it’s located inside a neighbor, dingy — but amazing bar Third Street. I tend to take all of my friends here for their first experience and they all love it. I have yet to try the savory pies, but those also look amazing.
