Fantastic! Family and pet friendly — a MUST if in Destin!

Hands down the best fried shrimp I’ve ever had. Really cool little place with fantastic views. You can tell this is where the locals go for sea food. The hot crab dip is out of this world delicious. Their gumbo was outstanding with great flavor and some nice heat to it. I enjoyed their food so much that I had to buy a shirt while I was there.

Really good seafood and the atmosphere is nice. Great to eat seafood while sitting over the water. Staff were very friendly.

This restaurant did not disappoint! Our only comment would be to order the mild steamed shrimp — the medium was a bit hot! Otherwise, it was simply wonderful! Be prepared for Destin in the raw. VERYREFRESHING! If you are looking for fine dining, pass on by. It is picnic tables on the bay, but excellent food!

I stopped here with a fishing buddy as he wanted some special seasonings that they have here. I was very impressed by the offerings that have here, I was fishing all day and wanted to buy their fish too. They have a wide selection that just about anybody could enjoy and they cook some foods right there and they do a great job.

You have to look for it. You can drive past the unassuming trail and keep going into the neighborhood so drive S L O W L Y. They are great people inside … You order your food, and they bring it out to you as you select a picnic table on the docks. The food is pretty good although I was not a fan of the hush puppies but I enjoyed my platter, fried. It’s soooooooooo relaxing, calm and peaceful. Go — it’s like a step back into a quieter time in your life. Ohhh did I tell you Gilligan and Mary Jane stopped by? They were at a table with the Skipper …

Our kids loved the view and we loved the food! Very friendly service and fast. We got the steamed shrimp basket and the Captain’s platter. A must in Destin!

Few people were recommending this place and we decided to give it a try. When we arrived, we could tell that this is the seafood place that more locals would go rather than some seafood restaurants by the beach that are just filled with tourists and overpriced food. First of all, I love the atmosphere! It’s an old seafood shack and you order inside by the kitchen and they bring the food out to you. When I walked in, I got the instant feel that their seafood was gonna be good. Second of all, the staffs there were super nice. They took the time and patiently explaining to us about our options. We ordered a fried shrimps and chicken tender kids meals for the kids. The chicken tender was, well, chicken tenders. My 3-year old is just not a seafood eater,(yet). The fried shrimp was okay. We also ordered grilled and fried scallops baskets. The grilled scallops… amazing!!! The scallops were pretty big and super fresh. They were perfectly cooked and the sauce that they used was just delicious. However, the fried scallops were just okay. The scallops were fresh but the batter was just a little under seasoned and too thick. However, I think I may give it a second try next time when I am in the area. The seafood was pretty fresh overall and I saw the crab legs were pretty fresh also(yes, I was stalking what other people were eating). Also, the price was not bad either, at least for the quality of the food.

A must eat in Destin!!! If you are looking for high quality seafood dinner, you have to come to Dewey Destin. Everything on the menu is fresh and delicious. Had the parm grouper, grit cakes, and blackened mahi. Phenomenal flavor, great service, worth every minute of the wait. There’s a small bar outside and you can drink while watching some boats come into the marina in the back while you wait — which was fun!

Food was absolutely delicious. This is a complete shack on the water, that is the perfect stop for fresh and flavorful dishes. Coming from a super small town this made us feel right at home, with an added view of the water.

In full disclosure, I didn’t have seafood. I had the chicken fingers which were just your standard chicken fingers. They were nicely fried. The fries were terrible — soggy and cold. The only things making this review a 4 are 1) the incredible view, 2) the friendly and fast service, 3) the divey atmosphere, and 4) the hush puppies. Seriously — where have these fried balls of corn bread been all my life? Good thing I don’t live in the south because I would eat them all the time.

Dewey Destin came highly recommended so we had to check it out. We wanted some good seafood and a gorgeous view. The food was okay. We ordered a plethora of fried seafood. It was expensive. I was surprised at the prices because it’s supposed to be a charming«hole-in-the-wall» I had the Mate’s Platter for $ 18.95. It was a basket of fried scallops, fried shrimp, and fried fish pieces over french fries. It was not bad. I felt like they could’ve seasoned the batter or seafood a little more but it wasn’t bad. My husband had a basket that included fried shrimp stuffed with crab and wrapped in bacon over fries. It was $ 18.95. When he heard«shrimp, bacon, and deep fried» he was all in. I’m sorry to say it wasn’t as good as it sounds. The crab made it weird. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t awesome. The restaurant is sort of on a dock so the location was fantastic. It’s all open and over looking the bay. I’m glad we gave it a try but felt it was way overpriced… like everything in Destin.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. Driving back to the restaurant we were skeptical but those exiting told us the food was great. We ordered at the window and took a seat on a picnic table in the open air dining room. Our food was delivered with a smile and to our delight nothing disappointed. Stuffed shrimp basket was unique and delicious. Grilled grouper and fried shrimp sandwiches were also a good choice. Our friend was happiest with the peel and eat shrimp. We will be back! Lunch or dinner this is a great spot!

Great view, food isn’t bad, but a little pricey. My friends suggested Dewey Destin Seafood to get some fresh fish and some nice views of the ocean. The parking lot is a rocky mess but there was plenty of parking for us. We walked inside the tiny shack to place our order and everything looked great and fresh. Prices were a little high, but I figured it was due to the freshness and the tourist location. I ordered the soft shell crab sandwich and it came out as an impressive display of a large fried crab on a regular hamburger bun. While it was quite the interesting picture, it lacked any depth of flavor(a little salt would have been nice). It wasn’t bad if I slathered it in the sauce, although the amount of sauce they gave me was limited. Fries were just ok, but there was plenty of those. My favorite part of the experience was the dolphins we saw passing through the dock. It was a brief excitement but still a cool sight to see. I was slightly disappointed in the food but it was a beautiful day. Honestly, the dolphin sighting carried the entire experience.

The best thing about this place is the location. It’s fun to sit by the marina and watch all the boats, jet skis, Para sailing… etc. you will also see some fighter jets fly over. The food is good and full of flavor, I have the peel and eat shrimp, yum and the trigger fish dish. Lots of great choices from the menu and daily specials.

Although I don’t love Dewey’s I do come here occasionally when my Family is out on the bay and wants to go somewhere by boat. In summary, I don’t think their seafood is the best in the area, but it’s not bad. Their breading on the fried seafood, particularly, has a lot of room for improvement. The location on the water is really cool. I still wish it was a little less«industrial». Prices are ok for Destin, but there are better and cheaper places for the same style of seafood not too far away. Looking at my prior review, I’d say everything stands, except: I think they’ve cleaned the inside up a little bit. No food boxes being stored in the dining area. The gumbo, is either getting better, or it’s just growing on me. It still isn’t really gumbo, but more like a seafood brunswick stew. That said, it’s one of the better seafood soups in the area. The fries are better too, if my memory is correct they used to be generic crinkle fries. If I’m right about that, they’ve switched to a thinner fry and they are crispier and better.

A family owned restaurant and all of it is cooked in the restaurant. So I will give it 4 stars Most of it is the friendly staff, the view and the pretty good food :) the fried fish and scallops did not have too much flavor. But the grilled shrimp and fish were good! I appreciated the whole experience!

A little hidden gem right beside the Destin marina. My husband says they have the best seafood gumbo he’s ever had, and he’s had his fair share of gumbo, let me tell ya! It had a great spice to it and they didn’t skimp on the seafoos. This restaurant was kind of pricey, but the portions were huge. I didn’t particularly care for the friend basket I got, there just wasn’t much flavor to it. The grilled shrimp my mother in law got though was the bomb! So good, I wish I had ordered it instead! The location is really neat too. It’s on a dock, so you’re literally eating on top of the water. You could see little fishes swimming beneath you, it was really cool. I’d totally go back to enjoy this place some more.

This place is hard to beat. True hole in the wall, the entire place is over the bay, look between the boards you’re sitting on, you’re over the ocean! It’s totally awesome! Every seat, including the ones inside are surrounded by Bay and docs and boats and blue skies and clean water and green trees. The atmosphere, therefore, is fantastic! It doesn’t get much more casual than this. The staff is fantastic! The ladies who run and own this place are super friendly and knowledgeable and sweet. The food doesn’t get more fresh than this. The raw shrimp and fish are sitting right in front of you on ice when you order, they cook it in the back and call your name and bring it to you. The portions are enormous, very filling. Ingredients are super fresh and simple. Everything we ate was delicious! Jalapeño hush puppies, crinkle cut fries, fried shrimp, shrimp skewers, potatoes, coleslaw and amberjack, all phenomenal! When I paid $ 50 for lunch for four people, I wasn’t very excited. But once the massive baskets filled with fresh, delicious food landed on our table, it was worth every penny! Love that you pull in off the street and have to drive down a long narrow driveway, not really knowing where this place is, until the tiny shacks appear on the coast; small, super rustic, beyond comfortable once you enter. I can’t imagine going to a tourist trap restaurant and missing this place. It’s a fantastic find and I hope we make it back on this trip. My recommendation, whatever you do, if you’re looking for FANTASTIC food at a true«hole in the wall» place, with stellar service and fantastic, relaxed atmosphere, literally«on the water»,…do not miss this place!

We’ve been to Dewey Destin(this location only) many a time in the past 5 years while on vacation. It’s one of the places that I suggest to new diners in the area. I love that it’s simple, fresh and very low maintenance. In the past 2 years, however, my love of DD has started slipping. I’ve never been a fan of their sides — crinkle fries are average, cole slaw needs a lot of help, tartar sauce is gross. And, my husband pointed out that prices went up this year. We went 2x this trip — once for a lunch and once for a dinner. I was really disappointed with my fried grouper sandwich(lunch). I had the same thing last year and it was one of my favorite items from the 2 weeks we were there. This year, not so much. The grouper was texturely off, it tasted gamey and it looked different than last time. I was over it after the first few bites. Other items ordered(from both trips), soft shell crab sandwich, grilled shrimp, grilled fish, tuna sandwich, crab legs, royal reds, fried fish and… Bacon wrapped, crab stuffed shrimp. It’s usually my go-to perfect meal. Not that time. The bacon wasn’t crisp. The crab meat was filled with shells and had a «mush» quality to it. I didn’t even care about the shrimp by the time I got through the other 2 horrible layers. I know my opinion means very little to a place that is busy ALL the time. But, I’m disappointed that Dewey Destin isn’t meeting the same standards that they did a few years ago. I’d like to see them up their game and not just meet(or not) expectations but exceed them.
