Enjoyed it enough that I went back the next night. Not only did a get more Landry’s points towards a reward, I had a better experience. I tried the clam chowder. I went with the bowl versus the cup which looked small. It was a lot of soup but was good and but ate it all. I have had better chowder but this was pretty good stuff. I had the shrimp scampi which was good. Could have had more shrimp but it left enough room for dessert. Tried the chocolate chip cookie sundae. Good but if you are a whipped cream fan, ask to hold it. I did order a drink with one of the flashing lites in the bottom. A little extra but a good one to add to my collection. Try it for a fun place to eat. Kids will like it to.

This place is absolutely horrible!!! We waited forever for our drinks… Our fried calamari was all breading and fried peppers… Then they lost our ticket and so we waited 1 hour for our dinners! Our second order of drinks came out 20 minutes after we ordered them. They were not even busy. Finally when our meals arrived my sons corn was RAW!!! Our mahi looked like something from your grocers freezer with the breading peeled off. The sauce on it was disgusting! We sent it all back!!! Horrible horrible horrible!!! We are feeding our kids sonic now bc of this crap! Blah!!!

I live in Panama City, but lemme tell you, it’s horrible unless you’re a drunken college bro on spring break for a week. I went to Destin on a short trip to the next best town (all the towns are better than PC). My significant other said that he wants to go to Bubba Shrimp while in Destin. I kicked him out my car and went back home.

The food was great. The service was great. The atmosphere was fun. I would recommend it.

I thought this place was very good to be right off the main highway and commercial. We really just wanted some seafood and this place was friendly, convenient, close, and tasty. If you want high end seafood with plenty of choices, this is not the place.

So, neither myself or the better half had been here. So we decided to stop in.
This place is the very definition of Tourist Trap. Of course, the caveat with that is, if you like all things Forrest Gump, I’m sure you will like it here. If you are looking for something particular special or fresh seafood, this probably won’t fulfill those needs.
The one thing I did like was the license plate that flips between Stop Forrest Stop and Run Forrest Run. The idea behind it is that the wait staff will appear when your Stop plate is flipped. Of course, we ended up in a side room far from everyone else, so our sign didn’t seem to work particularly better than waving your arms for the wait staff’s attention.
Additionally, my wife’s beverage seemed to vex the bartender because the ingredients seemed to require extra steps. At one point they might have been shopping for the right leaves or something. When it did finally arrive it was with the meal, long after it was desired.
The serious reason to come here is that you love Forrest Gump. Otherwise, my sincere recommendation is to find somewhere else to go.

we drove from PCB to Destin just to have Bubba Gumps and it was a little disappointing. This is my boyfriend’s favorite restaurant so we always try to fit it in to vacation in some way. I’m a server and may be a little critical when it comes to being served, but our server was just not good! We visited at around 2 on a Thursday and there was maybe 4 tables in the entire place, so you would think that the server would be attentive but she certainly wasn’t. When my boyfriend asked what kind of Sam Adams they carried she said «I don’t know.» If you don’t know then you should probably go figure it out for the person who is PAYING YOU. She treated a 5 top a lot better and was very attentive and friendly to them, as if she felt she would get a bigger tip from them. Well, her loss because I would normally tip a lot more than she would ever expect; however, today I left my first 18% tip. I felt bad, but my boyfriend kept reminding me that if we tipped based off of service, she’d get a lot less of a tip.
Other than the service being terrible, the food was pretty good and fresh. My fish sandwich definitely was cooked right and had potential. I just wish I would have gone with my gut and asked to leave the cheese off. My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed his «bucket of trash.» We will definitely be back, just hopefully with better service.
Shoutout to the lady manning the gift shop– she’s a great salesman and was very entertaining!

Today was great visit. I enjoyed mango drink non alcoholic.
Shrimp scampi was on point. Great flavor and shrimp where not overcooked.
Also the strawberry shortcake was perfect end to great meal.
Server was attentive and manager was great about following up about quality of my meal.
Will be back

The food was just OK but I was not really overly impressed with the whole set up it was really overrated the prices were a little high

Came in late on a Monday night, the first weekend of off season. Wait staff was friendly and very attentive– food was ok, just very big box restaurant’ish.

I went here and really enjoyed the food. I got the Shrimpers Heaven and had some of the shrimp changed out for coconut shrimp. I also ordered a Louisiana Lemonade (that I never got and the guy down from me got for free!). The shrimp was really good! But the drink took forever to get to me! Maybe about 15 to 20 minutes and I just told her to forget it because I already had finished my meal. When I got my receipt they charged me for changing the shrimp! 2 extra bucks! They didn’t say anything about the extra charge. I’m EXTREMELY disappointed. They took off the extra charge but they should have compensated my meal. They didn’t even offer. I’m sure I won’t even hear back from them after this review.

This was our last night in Destin and while we’ve worked to avoid chains the whole trip, neither of us had been to a Bubba Gumps before and decided to give it a try.
There honestly wasn’t any spectacular about the food but the service was awesome. We only waited about 10 minutes to get seated, and for 7:30 on a Saturday night, that was pretty impressive. The wait staff were all very friendly and pleasant and took excellent care of us. I loved playing Forrest Gump trivia with the waiters and the table next to ours.
The spinach dip appetizer was amazing and the Mama’s shrimp was good, if not a little bland. Like I said, nothing spectacular about the food but the atmosphere was fun and the service was wonderful. We’d definitely go back.

If you’re a Forrest Gump fan like I am, this place is for you. Delicious food, fun atmosphere, exceptional service.
Our last night it Destin, and we’d designated it for Bubba Gumps. I had been looking forward to it all week, but I was also a bit nervous because of all the horrible reviews we had been reading.
Our service was great, despite the fact that our waitress was overwhelmed and wasn’t hiding it, she was still friendly and made sure we were completely taken care of. We did not have to wait long periods of time for drinks or food like other reviews implied, so the surprise was pleasant, considering they were super busy. The food was amazing! I recommend potato cakes to start!
Gump trivia was fun, but there are no discounts or prizes for getting every question correct. However, if you spend $ 50 or more in the gift shop you get a complimentary glass and tote bag!
I will absolutely have Bubba Gumps again.

Expected the food to be much better after a one hour wait to get a table. I’m sure the food was better than what we experienced but it was ruined by the service and the time to sit. At least at a fun atmosphere.

Service: ²⁄₅. Slow, but the only thing that did catch my attention was the signs to let the staff know you need assistance.
Food ¹⁄₅: I tried the «Accidental Fish & Shrimp» and was NOT impressed at all. Fish cooked decently but somehow tasted bland. You could see that there’s seasoning but it doesn’t help the case at all. Tried mango mojito, was okay but tasted kind of watered-​down.
Pricing ²⁄₅: was a bit much. I know there’s other places in the FWB/​Destin area that could be cheaper AND fresher.
Concept/​styling ²⁄₅: I was only knee-​high when Forrest Gump first came into theaters and have watched it a few times in my life, but the idea to center an entire restaurant chain around ONE movie (regardless of how successful it was) seems a bit excessive.

Please keep in mind when reading this review that in 35 years of dining, this is the only review I have ever written on a restaurant.
We were in Destin for the week and wanted seafood. My wife had never been to BG’s before, so it was first on the restaurant hit list.
With it being shoulder season the place was virtually empty. Like 4 tables including ourselves. There was one server and a trainee working the floor, which should’ve been plenty to handle the amount of patrons.
We ordered the hush puppies appetizer and 20 minutes later, the trainee finally said they were going to bring out them out. When they brought them to the table, they also said everything had been cooked really fast and about 20 seconds later our entrees showed up. Which really meant that the hush puppies had been sitting in the back for a while and were luke warm when brought out. But in all fairness, they were pretty good though.
I got the steamer pot (forgot what BG’s calls it) and my wife got the Mama Blues shrimp. Her shrimp tasted like they had been fried in old oil and she couldn’t even finish them. The only thing good in the steamer pot was the snow crab legs. The lobster claw meat was pure rubber and the clams and mussels, while cooked ok, were utterly tasteless. We were both very disappointed.
Like other reviewers have stated, this is the worst BG’s I have ever been to. While our two servers were friendly, it was mediocre service and sub par food. We are patient and not very picky diners, but this was just too much considering what we paid. If you are in town and wanting the BG dining experience, do yourself a favor and skip this one. You’ll be happier in the end.

Came here in December for lunch. I split the All American BBQ burger (topped with onion rings) and Forrest’s Seafood Feast (fried shrimp, fish, and hush puppies) with my sister and brother. The seafood was okay, nothing spectacular… but the burger was absolutely fabulous. The service was quick and friendly (the restaurant was pretty dead), and (being a touristy trap) the prices were a tad higher as we expected they would be… but all in all a decent meal in cutesy-​movie-​themed atmosphere.

The four of us just had lunch at this restaurant. I had bad feelings about it from the reviews, but it was convenient and a few of us were in the mood for shrimp. Even though only a few tables were occupied, the service was very poor. The chef and manager came to every table to apologize for multiple mistakes. Furthermore, the colored license plate scheme to request help from a server may work fine in Brazilian churrascarias, but is weird and works poorly here. Our individual preparations of shrimp were totally tasteless. We asked the waitress whether the shrimp was frozen and she did not provide a straight answer.
Don’t be foolish like we were!

My family and I came here while we were on vacation during Labor day and it was quite the experience. Every thing is Forest Gump themed which I thought was really cute.
The service was interesting, on the table you have these license plates that says «Run Forrest Run» and «Stop Forrest Stop» indicating weather you want your server to stop by your table or not. But our server was awesome, there was even some Forest Gump trivia which we totally failed at.
Then you have the food, great great seafood. & they serve it in a very fun way. The kids got their food in a little paper boat. Which they all took home with them afterwards, they placed the food on top of Forest Gump newspaper and titled over pots to make it seem as if the seafood spilled over. Very creative and we all appreciated the display. The food was excellent. Big portions and who doesn’t love big portions? I don’t recall what everyone ordered because we all shared. The shrimp was yummy and the corn was delicious. Fish and chips were fried to perfection, nice and crunchy on the outside and beautifully cooked on the inside. Crab was awesome, I couldn’t eat as much as I’d like since that was everyone’s favorite and there was 9 of us.
Everything was fantastic, definitely a place to check out while you’re in the area! I know we will come back whenever we are back in Destin.

I was 25% sober when I got here… So I will give you the best of what I remember.
I ordered the fish and chips and a margarita (mojito? Oh god…). The service wasn’t especially slow, thank goodness, and the food came quickly (maybe???).
Unfortunately this will have to be a short review since I don’t remember much, but there is a nice area outside (a bench with Forrest Gump and his box of chocolates!) and a store for souvenirs right inside the restaurant.
