Stopped in for a meal with the kids. Atmosphere hasn’t changed in years, even tvs are outdated. Pizza was very good. The other meals not so much. My sil had a burger on a pita. It was too awkward to hold and fell apart when he put it down. Either give two pitas or cut one open. My youngest had chicken tenders that were so overdone and dried out. Same goes for my fish fry. Cod was ok, but shrimp and perch were terrible. Probably won’t go back.

Bartender gave me a menu. 10 minutes later she hasn’t come back to take my order. To busy chatting with some guy sitting at the bar and looking at her phone. Tvs have terrible pictures and are dated.

Went to Beacon Tap on 8÷4÷2015 Beacon Tap what happened to you !!! Been going there for over 20 yrs. What happened to your food Quality? your place used to be packed during lunch and my unfortunate family made up your entire lunch crowd. Hard to review your food because it simply wasn’t. My youngest ordered cod at $ 9.56 and got 3 pcs of Gordons Fisherman breaded mystery… literally frozen Gordons fish patties… how do you even begin to rate that? Your wings were small dry and overcooked. Your chicken fingers looked more like chicken palms they were overcooked and dried out as well… Again…What the hell did you do to this great Desplaines institution ? So disappointed… will not return R.I.P. Beacon Tap wherever you are. Also your bartender can’t tend bar, answer phones and wait tables all by herself… she was the only thing that looks like it works anymore… gave her a $ 9 tip on a $ 54 bill because she was pleasant and trying her best. Damn you guys should be ashamed.

Saw their internet menu featuring beer battered cod and decided to try them for dinner. The cod was OK. Nothing spectacular. The biggest issue I had was the dinner came with frys and coleslaw. Way too many fries and very little coleslaw. The fries were OK only. The coleslaw was pretty good except for the fact there wasn’t much of it. Overall it looks like an old hole in the wall bar that’s tried turning itself into a sports bar and only doing that reasonably well. Sort of surprising that the wall of TV’s were so small. I wouldn’t go into the place to watch a sports event. Oh, and the 60’s music playing in the background got rather annoying. I don’t have a problem with that genre music but it was way too loud.

It’s an Des Plaines institution but the TV’s, c’mon! Either the owner didn’t pay his HD bill or too cheap and to buy new TV’s. Do they really think people are coming in WON’T want to watch sports? And can we get more than one game on the tube, at once?! Cubs — Bulls simulcast? Please make it better!

Just tried this place for the first time and I was so impressed. We sat in their awesome beer garden and was greeted by the sweetest server named Brandy. She made good recommendations and brought our food out so fast. She checked up on us just enough that it wasn’t annoying but politely attentive. The BLT, Reuben and burger were all delicious and you cannot beat their beer deals. Will definitely be coming back to enjoy their beer garden with some volleyball and bags soon. Check this place out.

My family has been going to Beacon Tap for years. It has always been a pleasant experience. Today was not so pleasant. My parents and I went for lunch. When we arrived, there were hardly any people. Our waitress was acting as the bartender and hostess. We all ordered different burgers. I ordered the western burger. I asked for it to be cooked medium. When I got the burger, it was raw. When I cut it in half, it fell apart because it was so underdone. When the waitress came back to see how our food was, I showed her that my burger wasn’t cooked properly. She took it back to the kitchen and had them cook it longer. When she brought it back, half of the burger was gone and it looked all chopped up and really unappealing. I didn’t want to eat it. She then came back and asked how everything was. I told her I didn’t want the burger. She said that she would have the cook make a new one. I said okay and asked her to make it to go since my parents were already done eating. It was not a positive experience. It isn’t much fun to sit there watching other people eat, while you wait for your food, twice. When I got home, the burger they sent me home with was overcooked. It went right in the trash. It bugs me that she didn’t write the order down. If she had, maybe the cook would have known what I wanted in the first place. Another thing that bugs me is that my burger wasn’t comped. When a restaurant makes a mistake, they usually take the problem off of the bill. Alas, my family will not be returning.

Beacon Tap is just shy of a Cubs Game urinal trough… This place is a total dump, you have to be white trash to even walk in this place… Smells like urine, completely out-dated, and un-kept. I don’t even wanna know what the kitchen looks like. Food is awful, even the nachos were terrible… how does one manage to screw up nachos??? The entire place smells of old urine and filthy mexicans!

These geniuses aren’t smart enough to open early for a Bears game on Sunday. Typical shithole bar that only worries about themselves. I’d give them zero stars if possible.

One of my favorite local bars. I love sitting on there huge patio! The regulars are nice and the wait staff is super friendly and fast! They also have awesome drink specials — on Tuesdays it was dollar drafts and Wednesday 2 dollar mini pitchers! Can’t beat that! Food is good too. Got the ranchero wrap which was super yummy. Fries were subpar though. My boyfriend and I ordered chips and salsa one day and it was big enough to feed four people! The only thing that would make this place a lot better is if they remodeled the interior. Sit on the patio and you won’t be disappointed!

Been there two times and hate the food everytime. The atmosphere is boring and dull… has a weird lingering smell. Also, the food is cooked in old stale oil. Tasted disgusting… never ever ever again…

The owners have decided to turn down the heat to save money… it’s a downright cold/uncomfortable place to have a drink on weekdays.

I came here for lunch. It is old school décor with the wood paneling, but it was clean. We ordered burgers, they were not the best burgers ever but they were certainly not the worst. I think the bill was $ 20 for two people for dressed burgers with slaw, fries and diet cokes. Free parking. Service pleasant.

Hey decided to give you guys another try, boy what a HUGE mistake. Came in here Fri after work. Not only did they get my order wrong, but it was burned and cold. After talking to the manager, he said he would take my nachos off the bill. Ok, I still hate this place. In checking my bank statement today. They charged me TWICE for that horrid meal. One time full price, second time with the nachos taken off. l When I went in to talk to the manager today, he was like«this doesn’t make any sense». Thank God for phone apps for I pulled up my acct right there. We’ll see if this gets taken off my bill. I will Never, ever, ever come here again.

This place is one of those hole in the wall places where locals attend. I went there last night for Wednesday $ 1 beer night. Can’t go wrong with $ 1 drafts. The options were bud light, miller lite, and high life. The beer garden was decent, you can watch the bags tournament. The outside area closes earlier so you have to finish the night inside the bar. The inside of the bar is pretty old school… But if you’re looking for a cheap beer and food on a Wednesday night come here. This is one of those places you get what you pay for. Oh and this is a really good people watching place… I was amused.

Welcome back to HS. If you liked the drama, you’ll like Beacon. If not, stay away an night. Food is decent. Charlies pride is better. Outside setting is the best. Do your self the favor, save you money when buying draft beer outside, and take the few steps and walk inside to buy it. The outside line taste aweful.

My lady plays V-Ball out @ the Beacon and it has it’s pluses and minuses for sure. The Goods: Outdoor patio on nice summer nights Outdoor Volleyball and Bags Decent food(wings and pizza) Bar selection and prices Wait staff are all friendly The Bads: Outdoor volleyball court is TINY and sand has issues of it’s own Food is JUST decent… nothing to really write home about Volleyball leagues take in a LOT of $ per team and pay out barely anything THEDRIVEFROMCHICAGO Dont get me wrong, Beacon is a nice place in the middle of not much else. I would probably never go if it werent where she played volleyball @, but defintely love going out there to relax outside on nice days… A-OK

It’s a good towny dive bar, if that’s what you’re going for. I enjoy coming here for the Friday night karaōke + $ 4 Blue Moons. Pros: +Cheap drinks +Good bar food. READ: BARFOOD. Nothing glamerous, but you can’t really screw up fried appetizers. They have a Friday Fish Fry. I hear their pizza is good. Etc. +Ecclectic crowd of locals. There’s usually a good atmosphere. People are there to unwind and have a good time. +Karaōke. Fair in their line ups… everyone gets a turn. Good selection. +Heated outside area for smokers. +All of the bartenders and waitresses are friendly and attentive. Fast service. They have brought me new beers before I finished one! Cons: –Eh. The bathrooms. Worth mentioning, but it’s not a big deal.

Peeking at some of the other reviews on this place, it looks like people are trying to compare it against 5 star Zagat and Michelin fine dining restaurants. If that’s what you’re looking for, Beacon Tap is NOT your kinda place. This is an old school bar out of the 50’s and 60’s that has character, atmosphere and is a lot of fun. If they remodeled it, it would ruin the joint. Drinks are pretty cheap. I’ve seen karaōke on Fridays and the place is packed. Huge pizza for about $ 12 is some of the best thin crust pizza in the area. Service can be slow if they’re busy, but the waitresses are always nice. Go there for a beer and some decent food — but mostly for fun.

This a good place to go for Friday lunches. Good drink specials and pretty good food. If i was measuring it on other factors I might have given it a two but since this was strictly lunch it get’s a bit higher. I must say though that our waiter did forget about us at times, especially when it was time for us to pay and leave. Again enjoy the drink specials on Friday and ask for the check early.
