I’ve been here a few times. Last time I got a salad, and it was mostly iceberg lettuce. Disappointing! My husband didn’t like his beef stew in a baked potato either. The chocolate cake we got was the only good thing! The employees were friendly, though.

Had lunch here again today. It was excellent. Never has a bad meal and the staff is great! I suggest the spicy chicken sandwich and the pasta salad.

McAlesters suffers from a too large menu but there is consistently good stuff here if you know what to look for. The Muffaleta is great but too many calories if you consume the entire item(½ sandwich). The solution is to buy this sandwich for 2 meals and take half home for another time. My wife does not tolerate spicey food well so she goes bland, Ham sandwich on whole wheat Hogie with mayo and cheddar cheese with a side of mac and cheese. I like their potato salad and their cole slaw as sides. Their soups range from quite good(tortilla soup) to average(broccoli cheese). I travel in Kansas often and when I am there I never go to this chain. Instead, I find the nearest jason’s Deli & Catering.

Not a fan of McAlister’s. I’ve eaten here at least 3x & was sorely disappointed each time. I appreciate the fact that they offer olive tapenade, and I LOVE the fact that they offer so much variety on their menu, but I wish they were able to deliver on their promise of tasty goodness. Instead, they’re just another chain with a huge menu that has bland food, and no true focus or specialty.

I’ve had many a take out or catering from McAlisters but never dined in their restaurant until this week. We decided to pop in for our daughters school spirit night where a portion of the proceeds go to the school PTO. This location is located next to TJ Maxx and almost across Manchesters from Jilly’s Cupcakes. When you walk in it is what you would expect from a sandwich shop. Clean and bright environment. The menu was more impressive than I was expecting. Their hot sub sandwiches looks very enticing. I opted from the horseradish beef and cheddar hot sandwich. It does come with a side. My wife ordered the sweet chipotle chicken sandwich. My kids opted for the mac and cheese and a PB and J sandwich. Their meals came with chips/fruit and a drink. For 1.99 kids meals the portions were«ok». Not too generous. My sandwich was smaller than I was expecting for an $ 8 sandwich. It tasted very good though and I was overall happy. My wife said her sandwich was«meh.» Next time I plan on trying their Muffuletta sandwich. Pros: 1) Clean friendly environement 2) Support local schools 3) Decent selection on menu 4) Kids eat free on Saturday and Sunday after 4pm Cons: 1) Price for the size sandwiches 2) Kids meals were very standard and blah 3) Really nothing exciting but decent restaurant.

Was recommended to try McAlister’s by my friend Charlie. Upon entering, it looked to be a restaurant styled after St. Louis Bread Co. and I was eager to see how it compared. The answer is not well. I got cheddar potato soup in a bread bowl. The soup tasted like a watered down version of Campbell’s – just chunks of potato, celery, and carrots in a cream broth. The breadbowl tasted stale, like it had been taken out of a fridge and reheated in the microwave. I finished the soup because I was hungry but just left the bowl to sit there. Charlie got a caesar salad, which was just some lettuce with cheese and croutons sprinkled on top. The lettuce was slimy and the croutons were soggy by the time they were brought to the table. The service was friendly and the prices weren’t expensive, but the food was absolutely abysmal. Don’t waste your money – stick with Bread Co.

I had heard good things about McAlisters so I was happy to see when when I stopped at the TJ Maxx in Des Peres. The selection is huge, a variety of hot and cold sandwiches, soups, salads, all tasty and innovative. The staff was friendly and super patient. The food came out fast thought it was full. The docor is nice, clean and homey, perfect for a light relaxing lunch with mom or friends. My husband had the Memphian 6.79 Black Angus roast beef, Black Forest ham, smoked turkey, provolone, lettuce, tomatoes, lite mayo and spicy brown mustard on a toasted 6″ wheat hoagie. Also the Spud Max 7.19 Black Forest ham, smoked turkey, applewood smoked bacon, cheddar-jack cheese, green onions and black olives with sour cream on the side. I had the Southwest Cobb 7.39 Grilled chicken breast, fire-roasted corn & poblano pepper relish, guacamole, cheddar-jack cheese, tomatoes and tortilla chips. Add vegan chili which I loved. My son had a grilled cheese sandwich, a bag of cheetos and teddy graham crackers so he was pleased. In all it was a great meal, my salad was huge and filling, the spud alone would have been enough for my husband, he enjoyed his sandwich as well, though it was fairly small and skimpy for almost $ 7, more value in the salad or tater. In all a great meal, I will return shall another location pop up around me.

I usually get a variety of menu items each time I go, but I always get the sweet tea. This location’s staff is really good and they usually get the orders out fairly quickly.

I’ve been here a handful of times and while there’s better options here than the McDonald’s across the street, I’m never that impressed with McAlister’s. I don’t drink iced tea so the novelty of that is lost on me, though I know plenty of people who come here just for that. Their baked potatoes are mostly melted cheddar cheese and the salads sound good but the cold slimy looking chicken breast on my salad looked so gross that I nearly asked for a refund. But I was there for a lunch meeting and didn’t want to be that person as there were matters to discuss so I picked at the salad and ate most of it. Next time I’ll just go to Bread Co where the food is better quality and the atmosphere is cozier.

If you are in the area and looking for something quick to eat I recommend trying McAlister’s out. They do have a giant menu with everything from soups, salads, sandwiches, and loaded potatoes! It is a deli with deli selections! This visit I tried a cranberry turkey club with a cup of soup. Both were satisfying. I do agree with Leslie-the Iced Tea is refreshing, and it tastes good too! I don’t know if I will frequent this establishment as it is farther away from where I live at the moment, but if I am ever in the area I’ll probably stop in.

It’s all good. My husband likes the grilled cheese and the giant spuds. I like the paninis and chicken caesar wrap with a side of soup or mac and cheese. The iced tea — sweet or not — is tasty and refreshing. I crave their chicken caesar wraps! Sign up for their e-club and get the occasional coupon with a free $ 5 near your birthday.

UGH what a waste of calories(and I’m still hungry, wtf) Yes, I just said that. I ditched work for a little while and stopped in today to meet my boyfriend for lunch. Previously, I’ve had their Muffaletta, which is delicious and has lots of olives in the topping. After seeing the amount of calories in one chunk of those bad boys, I decided to go with something a little healthier. I decided on the Sweet Chipotle Chicken Salad and a cup of Tortilla Soup. I really wish I would have just gotten a sandwich. The half salad that comes with their«pick two» is the saddest little salad I’ve ever seen. It had the tiniest little squares of tomatoes and cucumbers, and a terrible fat free peach chipotle«dressing» — which really just boils down to water with a peachy flavor(not a joke). The soup was slightly spicy in the back of my throat — but I couldn’t decide if that was actual spice, or the amount of salt in the soup, as that’s pretty much all I could taste. Next time, I’m sticking with my gut and going to Bread Co. Not only do they have better food and portions, but I can also get my lunch way quicker than we did at McAlister’s. Just pass on this place… really.

I was meeting my sister for lunch one day and she suggested McAlister’s Deli. I had never been and thought«What have I got to loose?» When I go places to eat, I like to review the menu so I kind of have an idea for what I want, but since this was spur of the moment, it took me a while to collect my thoughts as I stared at the menu. So many choices, what is a girl to do? Do I go with my old standby of a salad or do I go with the spuds that are the size of your head? After trying to decide, and a massive headache, the moment of truth. I went with… Greek Chicken Pita, which has Romaine, black olives, roasted red peppers, feta cheese, sliced grilled chicken and Greek dressing served on pita bread. I added potato salad and their lemonade and called it a day. I was impressed with the pita, for I love a good pita, but it wasn’t anything to write home about. It hit the spot. I think I will return to try a spud as big as your head! I was impressed.

Food is above average, price is in line and the service can’t be beat. I avoid chains but will gladly return to McAlister’s.

You won’t find me at a McAlister’s very often because a) they are a chain, b) they are way the heck out there in the county, and c) Blues City Deli could kick their sandwich ass any day of the week. But for a chain that serves sandwiches(something I don’t get too terribly excited about), they are fine. Stopped by this particular location a few weeks ago to pick up a quick meal for some friends out in Grover. They had just had a baby and I was trying to be helpful in bringing them a relatively easy and nutritious meal. And by golly, I do love their lemonade… even if it does cost $ 5 for a glass. What never ceases to amaze me is how popular this chain of sandwich shops really is. This store was bumping on a Tuesday night! I placed a large to-go order, so had time to check out the clientele and ponder what it is that brings them in droves to McAlister’s. First thing I noticed is that most of the patrons dressed almost exactly alike — I think all the women get their clothes at either Dress Barn or the Jones New York section of Macy’s. And the guys all wear Tommy Bahama shirts or some version of it. And I’m sure that they all swear by Target and HomeGoods to decorate their homes… Who cares what these people wear or where they get their wicker baskets to put in the kitchen, right? Well the deeper issue here is that there are fantastic, privately owned restaurants that probably sit empty on Tuesday nights but no one thinks to eat here because they’ve never gone outside their comfort zone to try something new. Instead, they stuff their faces with McAlister’s on Tuesdays, Applebee’s on Wednesdays, Pizzaria Uno on Thursdays, and LongHorn on Fridays(’cause that’s fancy!). Not that the food at any of these establishments is terrible, it’s just a shame. But I digress. The sandwiches and soup from McAlister’s did make for a nice dinner. Being that my two friends were probably sleep-deprived and more interested in catching up than what was on the plate, it didn’t really matter what we ate :) I’m sure I’ll eat again at McAlister’s and that’s A-OK.

There’s something rotten about this chain restaurant. It seems to be involved in a conspiracy to always be at least 11 miles from my house whenever they put up a new one, and that’s just rotten. This is one of my favorite«I don’t feel like cooking» restuarants. Kid’s menu is good. I always get the chicken grill salad, and my husband usually chooses from among his favorites. Love the lemonade. Salad dressing’s good. Hard to beat for a quick service restaurant. Much better than the Bread Company/Panera offerings for simple me.
