I think I realized I don’t give myself enough credit for my amazing kitchen skills; the burger was decent but I could make a better one at home, and healthier. I need to open a little hole in the wall and do some world changing shit.

This is my first time coming to this bar ever since I lived in Derby and I must say I will be coming back again. It’s very low key the service is not bad and the food is delicious. Let’s not forget the price… The price is pretty decent as well. This is a great hang out location for some alone time away from the kids or a great place to bring the friends after work.

Their claim to fame are their hot wings. Yes they are all that, excellent! They are crispy and they make their own hot sauce! Ok all that being said, they also make their own blue cheese dressing. That I really don’t like. Basic plain old blue cheese is all you need. They add onion to their blue cheese dressing and serve with their wings. I personally don’t like onion. So, in my opinion, their blue cheese stinks! Moving on, their fries and sweet potato fries are excellent! I had the Cajun chicken sandwich. It was good. My wife had the pastrami Reuben, very good! All in all a great lunch! Oh yes the place is a straight up dive bar and very small and loud. Looks like an old house! Servers were nice and attentive! Carry on Archie’s and get rid of the onion in the blue cheese!

It took three minutes to realize we weren’t going to be thrilled with our experience here. *We walked in at 10:15PM on a Saturday night while a half dozen huge college football games were on and found an empty bar. There were two tables occupied and three people at the bar. *The TVs were on the NFL Network, an NBA replay from earlier in the day and a few football games. No one was watching. *We stood around for five minutes as the staff looked at us without saying a word. *Most important — we noticed a bottle of knock off ketchup, not Heinz. If they cut corners with condiments and service– they do the same with the food, which became obvious with every bite. While we didn’t try everything on the menu the loaded nachos didn’t impressive. In fact, everything tasted like it was frozen and reheated and the ingredients resembled that from a food distributor — nothing was fresh. The meat might as well been Taco Bell. Our server mentioned the wings are what this sports bar is known for, but that the burgers were good, too. I ordered a bacon burger, medium well. It was almost like leather and the bacon tasted like it was made in a microwave the day prior. The food here is below average for a small, local chain sports bar. In fact, it’s at par with Buffalo Wild Wings and Hooters, which we try to avoid. Sure there’s a plenty of TVs to watch and booze, but if you are looking for quality food this isn’t your spot.

We eat in on occasion and typically have a good experience. Servers are generally friendly and on point with refilling water glasses and checking in with us. We like to call in takeout orders more often and I think we’ve had to call the restaurant back close to…5? 6 times? Because they’ve messed up our order. We always get the nachos grande and ask for ALL of the toppings on the side, we’re very clear about it, and half the time, we get home to find that they’ve baked the cheese onto the nachos or put the meat on it– making the nachos incredibly soggy by the time we get home. The manager is very good at comping our order– which is SO appreciated– but we’d love for our order to just be… right. The hostesses always seem to be a little flighty and like they’re not sure what’s going on. Recently, my husband noticed they forgot to put some of the ingredients in our takeout bag– and when he notified the hostess, she simply said«Oh. Sorry about that.» — But didn’t make a move to fix the problem. He literally had to tell her what she needed to do. So, overall, the food is delicious when it’s done right. I think the take-out staff, whoever is mostly in charge of this area, need to be better at consistency and doing things properly.

Visited first time late Friday evening July 3rd. We were looking for a place to grab a bite after the movies in Seymour and we’re glad that Archie’s kitchen stayed open until 11. We ordered the buffalo chicken flatbread and bourbon wings. Really impressed with the quality of the flatbread. It was flakey and tender with tastey morsels of chicken. Enjoyed the perfectly prepared wings with good Bourbon flavor. We sat in the bar and received excellent service from the bartender that evening. This Archie’s is nice and spacious and clean as well. Will definitely return.

Great buffalo wings and the fried calamari was light and crisp. Not sure why this would show up under a search for waterfront dining but a good find nevertheless . Very friendly service; no judgements when our table of 3 ordered 4 appetizers and a turkey club

First and foremost — Prices. are. out. of. control. I don’t know if this place is sinking quick or what their motivation is to jack up the prices so much so quickly, but it’s so extreme that it basically has made me stop going there to eat. So, if the strategy is to hike the prices to make more money, I have a feeling it’s going to bite them in old Archie’s behind. Most people I know just flat out stopped going because of it. With that said, man, I hate leaving this place 3 stars, because I always enjoy coming here. Whether it’s for a few beers with friends or dining in for some grub. Nice staff(shout out to the bartender Mary Ellen, she seriously makes this place awesome) and the food is always good. The buffalo chicken wrap with a Miller Lite is about as good as it gets when it comes to some good ol’ bar food(insert your own favorite watered down beer name here). Now, one more time for clarity, as to the reason this place is only getting 3 stars(when it should get FIVE)… THEPRICESHAVEWENTOUTOFCONTROL. I mean, okay, we live in an ever growing economy. Things are getting more and more expensive. I understand that aspect of life. But, for example, 17 big ones for 14 wings… you do the math. Seriously? So, all those average joes working hard for their money now have to justify paying that much more for a plate of wings? Gimme a break. Everything on the menu has gotten outrageous, price-wise. Sorry guys, but don’t eat here if you’re just looking for a simple burger and fries kind of night out. You’ll be walking out the door feeling like you just got mugged after paying the bill.(The check from Hell).

Went here while traveling for work, it was a Monday evening after 7PM, place was a ghost town, which is also why I stopped, wasn’t in the mood to wait anywhere and this place had ok ratings on Unilocal.I got wings, beer and a burger, nice selection of beers and food was good. Staff was attentive, but as mentioned the place was empty.

My mom recently moved to the Derby area, in Oxford, and we were out and about exploring the area when we both realized that we were starving. Neither of us are familiar with the area, so while I was driving, she hopped online and started naming off restaurants in the area; we decided on Archie Moore’s Bar. We arrived around 4 p.m. on a Saturday afternoon and we immediately seated. Our waitress was okay, she certainly didn’t go out of her way to make us overly happy nor did she leave a lasting impression. My mom and I both ordered the Veggie Burger which came with fries and a pickle. Thankfully, the food came out fairly quickly… I want to say 10 – 15 minutes tops. As far as the quality, meh, it was okay. The burger itself was way too small for the giant bun they served it on, the lettuce was bad and the tomato was about ½ inch thick. The fries were cold, but honestly the best part of the meal. I’m vegetarian and the Veggie Burger was the ONLY non-meat item on the menu, very disappointing. As we were walking out the restaurant, there were many people waiting to be seated which surprised me. I know I only ordered a Veggie Burger, but quite honestly, the food that I saw other patrons eating didn’t look too appetizing either. I can’t say that I’ll ever make it a point to go back to Archie Moore’s when I’m in CT visiting mom again. I have a feeling that there are plenty of other great restaurants in the area!

I enjoyed our night at this archie moore’s location. We had a group of 9 dining-in upstairs. This location definitely feels more comfortable for those not fond of the closed-in feeling. I have only been to the new haven location however i felt much more at ease in this more open floor setting. My only complaint was it got so warm I was getting overheated and uncomfortable. I was dressed in just jeans and a light shirt so I was by no means overdressed. Food and drinks were decent. I ordered a blue moon and BLT sandwich with salad subbed for the french fries. The sandwich was impressive… thick layers of crispy bacon, fresh lettuce and sliced tomato. I brought the salad home to eat with the other half of my sandwich. I can’t speak for the wings but they smelled and looked delicious! :-) Our waitress was on her game and asked what drinks we wanted as soon as we sat at the table and put orders for apps in as soon as the group arrived. We put dinner orders in about 10 minutes later. Our food arrived in a timely manner and I think it’s safe to say everyone left full and happy.

Used to love Archie Moores, was a great place to bring the kids, get great wings, and grab a good beer… walked in today, and was shocked by the prices on the menu. $ 1.21 a wing??? $ 13 for a cheeseburger? I asked the waitress if they had a significant price increase… her answer…“yes, everything went up up up”. Explained to her we may leave, to which she responded«I totally understand» With porkys around the corner, with reasonable prices and, in my opinion, better wings, and a variety of great restaurants in Shelton, I think they’re going to see a huge dip in buisness! A shame…

Hands down the best buffalo wings. They’re regular buffalo is superb and the other flavors are amazing, too. The regular food is decent(burgers, wraps, etc), but if you want the best wings, Archie’s is the way to go.

Came in for a late lunch with a friend who is obsessed with sports. He was happy that they had multiple tvs to watch. I’m a southern gal and I desperately miss fried pickles, so I was happy to see them on the menu. They were good, but they were spears rather than chips. In the south we eat chips. I also ordered the eggplant fries and they were also good, but not fabulous. Decent place for a drink and to hang out. I’ll be back.

This place was unexpectedly very good. I was skeptical of the quality because at first it looked like a typical bar /restaurant but the menu options were diverse. They offered bison burgers which I don’t see very often. I choose the bison burger and was not disappointed. The burger was far more tender and delicious than regular beef. It had sliced avocados and came with fries that were crisp and not too greasy. I highly recommend it

One star doesn’t even describe the dismal restaurant which is one of 3 Archie Moore establishments. Arghhhhh. Went there tonite to meet a friend from Shelton at her suggestion. Didn’t have high expectations but this place fell way short of even mediocre standards. First and foremost, one star was given because the waitstaff was very attentive and responsive. The 4 remaining dark stars were a result of the poor quality of food and ambience, and cleanliness of this restaurant. Gads, I remember Archie Moore’s in New Haven being a hot spot buzzing with activity and good smells and hot food focusing on bar clientele and wings. Derby Archie’s had no focus. Typical bar menu available which was no surprise — wings, burgers, etc., but really — Italian dishes, huh? I thought it safe to order turkey burger. Friend ordered the eggplant stack sandwich on flatbread. She had no issues and actually took leftovers home. The sweet potato fries looked delicious and crispy, and dish was hot when served. My expectation for a restaurant basing their reputation on bar food would be that the burgers need to be awesome. Period! Not happening at Archie’s. Burger came out with a ton of nice crispy fries. Burger was dressed with melted cheddar, lettuce and tomato but that’s where it ended. Why do chefs not understand that cold tomato and lettuce don’t make a happy burger. What’s wrong with making an awesome steak sauce to accompany a burger… Have to note that turkey burger was the worst flavor I have ever tasted. Enough said — big goofy, fluffy, white, slightly stale bun was immediately put aside and I used lettuce as a wrap. Still couldn’t eat the burger… abandoned it and picked at fries. Waitress noted that I had not eaten and asked if all was okay. Mentioned the burger was pretty bad, she offered another dish, and returned to tell me the burger dish was taken off the bill. Very nice even tho I didn’t push for that. I wish I could say I would return because of the responsive, good service we received but no — that’s not happening. Sorry excuse for the original Archie’s I went to in New Haven years ago. How things change…

I wish I could give it a better review, as the food was delicious – but the service was absolutely terrible. All of the waitresses were unfriendly, apathetic, and not at all attentive. They all just say at a table in the back – in clear view, mind you, texting and talking to each other like it was a high school cafeteria. We knew our waitress saw that we were waiting for service, because she kept looking over her shoulder at us, but obviously her text messages were more important than doing her job. It disgusts me that people like this have jobs when there are so many young capable people looking for work. I’m not sure what the other Archie Moore’s restaurants are like, but I will definitely not be back to this one. To me, this experience also reflects poorly on the manager on duty at this establishment. There isn’t any food that is good enough to have to put up with that kind of service(or lack thereof).

When it chanced that a good friend and I realized we were both in the Naugatuck Valley on Sunday at lunchtime, Archie Moore’s seemed like a good spot to get together and refresh ourselves. So it seemed, and so it proved to be. We opened the meal with a round of wings, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The Buffalo sauce had a good amount of heat to it without going over the top. My peppercorn burger was fine, but not stellar. The fries were very tasty indeed. Our server brought us a lot of energy, enthusiasm, and a friendly laugh. She welcomed us as if we were good friends, and it was infectious. The restaurant has a fair number of nooks, so that although it wanders on and on(I kept finding new areas of it), it feels pretty cozy. There’s an outdoor seating area as well. Wings served with a smile — I’ll happily take that any day.

Given where Archie Moore’s is in the world, It’s pretty good. I mean, no one looks for New England’s best bars in Derby, Connecticut, that’s for certain. The wings, their signature item, are very good. They’re certainly not TK’s wings, simple as that. But they’re a solid choice. I guess you come here for the venue above all else. This is an enormous bar for sure, with lots of room to mingle with the gorgeous girls and handsome gents of the Connecticut River Valley, also known as the«Jersey Shore» of Connecticut. [Okay fine, I just made that up. It’s entirely appropriate though…] I think I’d still prefer Danny O’s overall for the best bar in this general area, but if you get sick of hanging around the tattooed halfwits there, you can always hop across the bridge and hang with the tattooed halfwits at Archie’s.
