Great selection of beer. Stopped in for lunch, nachos were huge and real good. Bartender was busy getting ready for Friday night but had good service.

This place is horrible… worst service I have ever experienced in my life. I sat with an empty beer in front of me for 15 minutes before I just paid my tab and left. The bartender and who I think was the owner were too busy flirting with each other. Besides myself there were 2 other people at the bar. No reason to have an empty beer at all. I can see why this place is always a ghost town. Won’t be back

We went there the other night looking to have a girls night out dinner. I really liked the rooftop area and was looking forward to a good night. That’s about as good as the trip was… The service was terrible. How hard is it to get a drink at this place? The answer is VERY. When I go out I don’t want to feel like they are doing me a favor by taking my business. So after a while of waiting and waiting-We went somewhere else. If drinks took that long we didn’t want to wait and see how long it took for the food! So — we went up around the corner for some other food.

We stopped into Brick & Barley this past Saturday night for dinner and drinks. We walked in and being there for the first time we looked at the staff to see if we needed to be seated or not, they signaled to seat ourselves. No problem there. We sat down and noticed the table had a thick layer of dust on it… gross. We continued to sit there while the bartender ignored us, the place was empty and we couldn’t get a hello, welcome or menus. We waited a few more minutes and a few more minutes and left. What a complete joke. We were on our way to Center Street Social which we have been to before and always great when a waitress from GROW ran out(which is directly across the street) and gave us brunch menus. She asked were we were headed and we told her, she asked why not give GROW a shot and we explained we wanted cocktails. She said they had a great white wine Sangria and we were sold. The food was very good, the Sangria was awesome. Skip Brick & Barley, it doesn’t make any sense with two other great restaurants feet away.

Went to see a band play with some friends. One of our friends ordered a burger and fries, he got his food ONE hour later. The bartender messed up my drink too. I wouldn’t come back, matter a fact I never thought of going there anyway, only went because like I said, a band we knew was gonna play that night.

If you live in Shelton you know how much we support local business. Bricks and Barley is seriously the perfect place for a good meal, a drink after work, and a place to come and see local bands. They only opened a couple years ago and it’s amazing how much they have grown in a short period of time. The beer selection is the best around, and the staff is very welcoming. Can’t wait to come here in the summer for a Moms night out with my girlfriends and date night. Love it!

I had my birthday party at the Old Danny O’s and it was great but when I went to Bricks and Barley. My whole table’s beers were all warm :/the kitchen was right by the the bathroom and looked dirty. The bar smelled like mildew. Not a great experience.

If I could post zero stars I would; service was horrible, food is bad, and the prices are so RIDICULOUSLY over charged($ 9 for a shot of café patron) .Worst is that the bartenders automatically thought the change was their tip!!! I wish they were still Danny Os, don’t plan on going back until they change management.

The bartenders here don’t know their own promotions that the bar they work in is running and they also like to steal money/tip themselves if you open a tab. My friends and I celebrated a birthday party here and they overcharged the more than 5 of us who had left our cards at the bar. We got hit with transactions on our statements that had never even occurred and one of the bartenders who was serving my friend tipped herself way more generously than my friend had wanted. I should also add that this isn’t the first instance I’ve heard of this happening so be very cautious if you decide to go here.

This place has an nice outdoor patio. The bar area is pretty big. The food is pretty good. It’s a cool place to hang out with some friends in the summer and have a few drinks.

The saving grace here is that once you order a drink and want to play pool or whatever, they leave you alone. That is what earned the one star. Other than that, the place always looks a mess. During the warmer months, they have the doors open; one side of the bar is completely swarmed by bugs. This is clearly due to the bar not being clean(obviously sticky parts all over the bar, just a simple wipe with a cloth!). The upstairs is nice, when it’s not roped off. There is a back patio that would have been the such a lovely place to meet during the warm months for a drink after work. There’s a TV out there and outdoor fire lamps, etc. Ahhh, such a lovely idea. But wait, it’s ALWAYS filled with people smoking cigarettes. So, if you want to go outside for some«fresh air» while you eat/drink, don’t go out on this patio, because the air quality will actually get WORSE than being indoors. Bummer. Oh and PS — the jukebox is never on. Ever.

We were happy to finally be able to try this place ! Well I guess our expectations were a bit high… Much bigger place than I thought it would be and expected it to be crowded on a Friday night… not at all, Not impressive when we walked in… one of the waitresses finally came over and showed us to table. Our waitress came over brought us water and utensils, we had to actually ask for glasses so we could drink the water without passing the bottle around! She told us immediately that the beer choices on the chalkboard were 5 months old and that they probably didn’t have some of them. Of course the first beer I ordered was out… Then she finally got around to taking our order. Food came out fairly quickly as we watched three waitress walk by our table with our food to deliver to another table. Apparently they thought they were delivering it to the men behind us… Food was ok… I had a burger that was pretty good. Then(no this is not a joke) two nuns walked into the bar and they were selling baked goods to raise money. We bought a brownie and candy from them. Our waitress then comes over and told us they she got food poisoning from buying baked goods from them! We were surprised they are allowed to even sell in the bar after the waitress said it was illegal to do so! So…overall I am disappointed in the service, atmosphere and probably won’t return… seems like others have had the same experience… to the owners… as someone else wrote maybe focus on waitresses who know what they are doing and not those who walk around half naked.

Eh — the drinks are fine and the people are sketchy, but that’s expected. I went late night and had fun with my friends… but do not expect cleanliness of the bar whatsoever. I was also denied using a bathroom(handicap accessible) because the men’s room was«around the corner.» The guy told me he was wearing a shirt that said he worked there, but couldn’t justify why I couldn’t use the bathroom… I thought that was hilarious. At least he takes his handicapped bathroom guard job seriously. Otherwise, the irish car bombs I had did the trick, and there were plenty of TVs to watch sports… Attention to detail on the cleanliness though got me.

Service was terrible. Waitress didn’t know what Beefeater was her response was«we have beer». Never given silverware. Second round of drinks arrived after we finished dinner. Food was ok but with service like that we won’t go back. Good luck!

The atmosphere at bricks is nice, and I love that they utilize the upstairs bar and rooftop patio. However, every time I come here it seems to take forever to get a drink(even when there’s no one there). The owner seems to prefer to hire pretty girls, as opposed to people who actually know how to bartend. Lindsay is the only bartender there who knows what she’s doing. I don’t even bother trying to get a drink from anyone else.

The food was very good. We had a table of five and shared a bunch of apps. The let down was the service. Our waitress was barely at our table. Once we had our food, we didn’t see her again for over an hour. We had to ask another waitress to find her so that we could order a second round of drinks. Also disconcerting was the random employee who kept reaching over us to grab our empty or half empty glasses. If the service is improved I’d give it another try. Otherwise, no thanks.

My husband and I were looking to go somewhere casual after a brewfest. This was an ok place. We knew ahead of time it was going to have loud music but it looked perfect for a small fun place. The food menu is very limited but was delicious! We sampled some fried pickles and onion rings… Quite possibly one of the best we have ever had. Only bummer was there was no dipping sauce with the rings. The grilled Caesar salad was very tasty and the portion was perfect. We were a bit disappointed with the bartenders. They appeared to be more interested in their phones than service. Hey, this is a beer bar … It would be helpful if the bartenders actually knew what was on draft. Overall, the place was just ok. Hopefully as they are in business longer they will add more to their delicious menu and hire professional bartenders.

The bartenders here are inexperienced and slow to serve. I asked one bartender, we’ll say her name is Nicole for example purposes, if she could change the TV to another game FOURTIMES. She NEVER changed it or bothered following up with me on my request. Oh by the way, the bar was EMPTY… To avoid ranting, take my word that this wasn’t the only time their service was disappointing. The menu is limited to one page with food quality and pricing being sub par at best. For $ 7, you can get a whopping 3 meatballs(or was it 2?). Want a hot dog? For $ 4, get served a Stop and Shop bargain hot dog on white bread. Yes, not a hot dog bun, but a slice of white bread folded in half… I’m done with this bar, and I’m walking distance from it. I would not recommend this establishment for anyone who enjoys the bar scene.
