So they get two stars for service only, which was courteous. But the price of the food will leave you feeling mugged. I ordered the ahi tuna entrée and got what most restaurants would serve as an appetizer for $ 10. Seven thin slices of ahi with sliced ginger, small seaweed salad, and soy sauce, all for the ridiculous price of $ 39. I actually had to ask the server if they had mistakenly served me the appetizer. The ahi was fine, but no better than any sushi restaurant would serve. For a market like Denver, you’ve got, literally, hundreds of better choices.

Very, very expensive. Service IS outstanding. Quality, however, is fair or average at best. For that price, you expect to enjoy outstanding or at least great food. The vegetable appetizer that they bring out with the bread is a nice touch, but there could be more. One of us had the halibut, and another had the salmon. Neither stood out nor were exceptional. We ate at Jax twice that same week and the fishes and dishes we had there were better, more flavorful, and easier on the wallet. The baked Alaska was okay. The strawberry ice cream was quite good and the crust and meringue would have been great as well if they didn’t taste so strongly of the alcohol. The key lime pie, while very sizeable, was missing a savory-sweet flavor note such as raspberry or blueberry coulis that could of completed it. It is not truly a key lime pie so much as it is a very lightly key-lime flavored cheesecake. Our waiter James went above and beyond and was amazing.

My $ 49 Fresh Alaskan Salmon entrée came out undercooked so I sent it back, no big deal. We tried the Denver Oceanaire because they are one of the very few restaurants which get the Fresh Alaskan Salmon this early in the season. After a great experience at Oceanaire San Diego, we excitedly awaited Fresh Alaskan Salmon Season here at home, so nothing could really bother us at that point. And they politely corrected the problem. My dish was eventually very good. Spouse had the Black and Blue Salmon but it was nothing like the fabulous San Diego experience. Next, the waiter Cooper recommended the Donut Bread Pudding, so we ordered it and they later comped us the dessert for our trouble, which was not really trouble. But here’s where it gets weird. The Donut Bread Pudding is just smashed old donuts with Ice Cream on top. Needless to say, we were underwhelmed by the whole experience.

Over-salted and Over-priced First, let me just say that Oceanaire Seafood Room has spectacular ambience. The blue hue lighting is perfect for a date or a relaxing evening out. And the service is top-notch. You could not ask for a better staff. My issue rests with the quality of the food. I ordered a steak and lobster. The lobster was decent, but the steak was all kinds of wrong. I asked for it medium-rare. The thing on my plate was an overcooked mound of salt, a tiny overcooked mound of salt. When I eat at a top tier restaurant, I expect excellence all around. I paid a lot of money for an unsatisfying dining experience.

This restaurant and our server, James, were absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Our server James could not have been more attentive and friendly. He knew all of the best information about the menu and he even comped our dessert. I would come back to Oceanaire because of James. And not to mention the food! The Oysters Rockefeller was one of the best I’ve had, as well as the escargot. The dessert, Baked Alaska, was one of the best surprises at the end of our meal. I couldn’t have asked for anything more, can’t wait to come back!

Oceanaire in Denver provided my date and I with an utterly perfect experience. My blackened swordfish was moist and melted in my mouth. The key lime pie is the best I’ve ever had. Kristen our waitress was always on top of things with a huge smile on her face ! I could not have asked for anything more. JN

I hesitated writing this review because we came during Denver Restaurant Week, which is not a fair assessment of the best a restaurant can be. But there is one thing worth mentioning that restaurant week can’t harm nor help. Where is the waiting area?! As soon as I walked in I felt like I invaded the host station. What architect thought it was a good idea to put the host’s computers facing the entrance? That means that the host staff stands with their backs to the doors at all times. This is also in the same major traffic area that connects two parts of the dining room, which means that you’re not only invading the host area but you’re also at risk of getting trampled. It’s a strange thing to get worked up about but I couldn’t get over the design of this place. It’s clunky and awkward. The space is loud, strangely lit, and poorly arranged. I found myself spending most of my dinner watching the chaos of servers(like salmon running upstream) nearly colliding with people, objects, and walls. I guess that’s free entertainment for your meal? The food? It’s fine. For what we received, I was glad that I was paying the RW prices, because a peek at the regular menu made me question the value of the plates. There are much better seafood spots in downtown. You’ll find me at one of them the next time I’m craving some bites from the sea.

We went to The Oceanaire Seafood Room tonight for my boyfriend’s birthday. I had made a reservation about a week in advance and the reservation was easy to make. We got in and were promptly seated and greeted. The staff was incredibly nice and knowledgable about the menu. We ended up ordering a lot of food and drinks. Some of the highlights were the sparkling moscato, the crab cakes, the jumbo shrimp cocktail, and the dynamite halibut. All of the food was so fresh and delicious. For dessert the staff brought out baked Alaska. It wasn’t my favorite as some of the rum soaked into the cake and was VERY strong but the experience itself was fun. Overall we probably spent and ate too much but a fun night was had by all.

Easy Peazy to reserve a table online! Now on to my review… I visited, «The Oceanaire Seafood Room,» on my last night in Denver, Colorado with my dear friend who is also a foodie. The occasion was my goodbye dinner and conveniently it was also Restaurant Week. Reservations were made two to three days prior although we were not seated on time and waited an average of 20 minutes which was not so much a good impression. The atmosphere was lounge style lighted with royal blue lighting beaming softly. Business was quite good for«The Oceanaire Seafood Room,» as there was also a local show playing near by and they were centrally located downtown. Parking was valet only and ran for about $ 7 with a tip of course. OKAY now to the meal which was a 3 Course. Course 1/Appetizer Chesapeake Bay Style Crab Cakes with creamy mustard mayonnaise Egh, so I am biased. I mean cumon! How can I not be after eating crab cakes from Baltimore, MD. Where they make the best in the land. I believe the crab cake itself was presented warm and had a great taste. I did not care for the mustard sauce and would of preferred a traditional lemon dill sauce. Overall, I give it a B– Course 2/Entrée Salmon and polenta with one grilled asparagus Not to impressed as the salmon was fatty and polenta cold. The flavor of the salmon was great and had a spicy seasoning on it. The asparagus was the most delicious thing on my plate. It was grilled and possessed a smoky taste. Overall a C Course 3/Dessert Key Lime Pie Not impressed at all. It was creamy and had an after taste lime flavor however, it did not taste fresh. Overall a C Ugh, sorely disappointed however not at all with our servers namely Mr. Thomas and Mr. Iniki. Mr. Thomas, walked me to the ATM for cash for my valet which was über kind and Mr. Iniki who always made sure our glasses were always full. Mr. Thomas and Mr. Iniki, thank you for your attention to detail and awesome customer service. You made the visit worthwhile more so than the food.

We went here for valentines and it was really good. I don’t eat seafood. Our waiter was totally cool with that and he was so attentive even though he was busy. He made great suggestions was funny and made sure we were happy. I got steak and it was so good I was full long before I was done but I couldn’t stop eating. Our au gratin potatoes were absolutely amazing. We had the Baked Alaska for dessert and I highly recommend you do that(though maybe not the same day you get real food because it’s a HUGE amount of food) The whole staff was awesome, the place is really nice, and the food was great. I’ll go back. I even tried scallops… and from a non-seafood fan… they were pretty darn good. They were done dynamite style which I would totally suggest. 100% worth every time we spent!

I was super excited to come here with my friend for Restaurant Week. We ended up needing to wait a while even though we had a reservation. Once we were seated, things moved more quickly. The ambience was nice and bustling. Our servers, Thomas and Iniki, did a great job. Iniki was especially friendly and helped make sure we were well-cared for during our meal. For food, the complementary sourdough boule was delightfully crusty, had a wonderful chew, and a good sour tang. The crab cake appetizer was decent overall. I wouldn’t say that it was my favorite crab cake ever, but it wasn’t bad. The mustard sauce was good and had a nice bite. For my main dish, I had the togarashi-dusted tuna. The tuna was perfectly cut and had a wonderful texture. The flavorings were spot-on and had a nice mix of bright herbs, spices, and savory soy. My only complaint was I felt like the plate looked a little sparse. Maybe some extra radish sprouts, cucumbers, or seaweed would have helped fill in the white space. For dessert, my friend and I both had the key lime pie. It was rich and creamy with good lime flavor. The accompanying whipped cream had a subtle sweetness with some bright vanilla essence. The food was all excellent. It was the perfect place to go for her goodbye dinner. I definitely plan to come back and check out happy hour some time.

Looking back at my reviews, I’m astonished that I haven’t written about this restaurant sooner! Without fail, my boyfriend and I come here every year for our anniversary and sometimes for birthdays! This is the only place I know that not only has great seafood, but actually care about their customers. We have a collage of oceanaire menus wishing us happy anniversaries and birthdays! We recently dined here for Valentine’s Day and our experience was no different than the many times before. We were seated within ten minutes of our reservation, which for such a busy night was pretty impressive. Our server immediately brought us a complimentary appetizer of potato crisps with salmon mousse. I enjoyed their pomegranate martini and clam chowder to start, while my boyfriend had a ceasar salad and Hennessy and Coke. Our portions were so large that I’m surprised we had room for entrees! However, we had no problem making room, the stuffed shrimp, dynamite swordfish and truffle Mac and cheese were to die for! No need to say that we’ll be back because this place has been a wonderful habit for the past three years!

We came here for my birthday last year and ate at the bar area. The bartender and waitress were so nice, served us well and knew a lot about their menu. Usually you’ll get someone who doesn’t know because they’ve never had it before(I think everyone who works at a high end resto should at least taste the food that they are currently serving.). Anyhow, the service was awesome and the food was amazing! We ordered a whole bunch of apps and the main course. It was during the Denver Resto Week, the menu was specially made for the event, which is fun to attend, especially if you love trying different types of food for an amazing price! $ 52.80 for two! I’ve been to this place several times and never been disappointed. :D

One of my good friends had her bachelorette party dinner here a few months ago, what a blast we had! The service was impeccable, they kept the drinks coming(extra dirty, extra dry, extra olives martini-delish), the food was absolutely incredible! I got the 6 oz. filet oscar style, probably the most delicious entrée I’ve ever had at a restaurant. I can’t remember what we got for dessert but whatever it was they made it into a phallic symbol at my friends request(there was nobody else in the restaurant at this point, it was done tastefully) and set it on fire. It was so much fun! They also had a personalized congratulatory menu made up for her. I will be recommending this place to anybody looking to celebrate something fun and fancy, with great food!!!

Confessions of a seafood snob :-) I’m originally from Maryland Mecca to me at least of seafood so needless to say I’m very hard to impress I don’t know how they do it but they did it the seafood done here is FANTASTIC !!! Crabcakes crabcakes General manager is a East Coast guy like myself so he knows the importance of good crabcakes so you’re not going to get a lot of filler filler like a lot of breadcrumbs that’s sacrilegious in crabcake land now that’s moving along and talk about oysters being a seafood snob ironically enough I’ve only had oysters fried I am a texture type of person if it doesn’t feel good in my mouth I’m not going to swallow it(insert sexual innuendo) LOL :-) The chef makes oysters so so very good if you like briny you can do that if you like subtle flavors with a sneaky punch The chef can do that too overall I’m very impressed with this restaurant

My visit was a great experience from start to finish. Greeted by the hostess when we walked in and sat at a bar table. The décor was fitting for the type of restaurant. Big marlin at the bar surrouned by other sea décor. Our waitress was curtious and very attentive. She also was working the bar. I had the crab cake sliders. First time trying crab it was a very different flavor and texture. It had a swipe of mayo and a little bit of shredded lettuce. Never seen crab cakes presented this way. Great service and ambience.

ok It’s official, I don’t have to move back to Massachusetts to get amazing seafood. Everything tasted fresh and beautifully prepared. I find a lot of seafood served in landlocked places try to hide the seafood with lots of other heavy flavors, but not Oceanaire. It was really quite delightful. I had an oyster duo, one east and one west coast. prepared with some fancy foodie words that I forget. My preference leaned towards the heartier west coast oyster. This plate opened me up to oysters in a way I would have snubbed off before. The main course was Massachusetts Scollops with risotto, heirloom tomatoes, and a parmesan crustini. The flavors were light but bold, and delicately balanced. I 110% recommend this dish and will definitely make the return trip to eat it again. This mermaid can die happy knowing this dish is served in Denver. and of course I wolfed down the pana cotta for dessert, served with strawberry and basil, and a blueberry granita. It was really creamy and delicious. Definitely recommend everything I’ve eaten here. I can’t wait to return.

Had never been here before and I sure have been missing some great eats. Came here for a Unilocal Elite Dinner Event and it was great. I decided to splurge and use the Valet – very reasonably priced and the staff was very friendly and efficient. The dinner from start to finish was very tasty. Much thanks to the entire Oceanaire Staff, from Brittney Fear(Sales & Event Manager), the Chef and his team, and Servers that made this wonderful event possible. Service was impeccable and I liked the hot towels after eating the oysters. Very cozy and intimate room for the dinner and it was great sharing and enjoying the meal with fellow Unilocalers. The East & West Coast Oyster Duet with Fennel Cream & Caviar were tasty(I liked the East Coast one the best). The Pan-Seared Massachusetts Jumbo Sea Scallops with Tomato Risotto, Arugula Emulsion & Toasted Parmesan was just Yummy – all the flavors melded together perfectly. The Buttermilk Panna Cotta with Macerated Strawberry with Blueberry Granita & Candied Mint was a great end to a wonderful meal. Found it to be very creamy and just the right amount of sweetness. It’s hard to find street parking, but there are plenty of parking garages and the valet service is very reasonable. Free WiFi is very convenient. This is the perfect location to book social, corporate or association holiday parties. You can also enjoy dinner before going to the theater since the Denver Performing Arts is right down the street. I have heard they have a great Happy Hour so will definitely be coming back to try.

We stopped in to Oceanaire Seafood Room randomly for Pre-theater drinks and small bites. The restaurant runs an all day«Admirals Hour» drinks and small bites special at the bar. We sat at the Raw Bar section, which has a large display of fresh oysters with their origin, and characteristics. The downside of the raw bar setting is it tends to block access to the bartenders. Getting their attention was problematic. We ordered the Chopped House Salad, Filet Mignon Sliders, and Shrimp & Grits. The Shrimp was the standout, with the White Cheddar Grits, and a vinegary chili sauce that both of us loved. The Sliders were very tasty with the horseradish kick. Finally, the salad rounded out a perfect small plate, pre theater meal. We will be back to try the restaurant very soon.
