A pretty darn good surprise! Was in the area and everything else was packed for a lunchtime rush, when we saw this place and decided«why not», and headed on in. Actually, we almost walked right back out. The place is a bit dirty and could use some wiping down, a mopping of the front area, and some paint. It also smelled a bit odd: nothing gross, but something I just couldn’t place really. The sole employee was polite, friendly, and prompt. He recommended the catfish special, which we ordered. Food was delicious. Seriously. The fish was hot and tender, perfectly seasoned and large for the price. The fries were tasty and covered in a little bit of the same spice(s) rub that the fish had. For the price and the food, I will definitely be back. FYI They do not accept credit cards, CASHONLY

Saw this in Unilocal as #4 in area. A real hole in the wall location, but we thought we’d give it a try. A 1 man shop, so the service was slow(at least it is cooked fresh). We had the shrimp, fish bits and fries. The fries were very good, he has a nice seasoning. The shrimp and fish bits were good when you ate them with cocktail sauce – which you ask for. His cocktail sauce is very good. We tried them with ketchup and his hot sauce, but neither helped the flavor. By themselves the shrimp and fish bits are only fair, but the cocktail sauce is very good. The owner was nice and the food is popular with the laundry mat people next door. It was close to the hotel we were staying and we wanted sea food. It met the need and we felt safe.

Really friendly guy; the food was fresh, relatively quick(for fresh-fried), and tasty. I had the pollock combo special with fries and a drink, and added some poppers. Everything was good. Not a great area, and it’s not the newest or nicest dining room, but I’ll probably be back. Hopefully they’ll have bean pie next time.

Pros: — not bad pricing — portion size on the fish was good Cons: — very few shrimp in the shrimp meal — some soggy and some overly crunchy fries — weird super thin breading — dirty floors and general shabby ambiance I went there once since I live fairly close by. I won’t be going again.

This place is closed ? I was there at noon and no one employees were in the store. It looked like it’s out of business.

Was so amazing! It’s a little hole in the wall, but the catfish is worth stopping in for and the portion is good.

Just stopped by for the grand opening under new ownership and was very happy I did. I never visited under the old ownership so I can’t compare, but I really liked the neighborhood, whole in the wall atmosphere. I got the catfish combo. Great portion size and very reasonable prices. The fish was the perfect flaky texture and the crust seasoned so well I ate all the scraps that flaked off on my plate. The fries were fresh cut and what you would expect. As I waited for my food I noticed the man behind the counter, who I assume is the owner, greeted everyone as they walked in as he cooked the food and took orders. All in all, great customer service, great food, and great prices. I’ll be back!

The catfish was really good southern fried catfish really good seasoning. The fries were also good. The sides I got were the Mac and cheese and macaroni salad both horrible. But the catfish and fries made it worth it.

Had the catfish, fries and potato salad combo for 12.96. Portions are good with the exception of the potato salad. Catfish was excellent perfectly fried and batter coating was light and perfectly seasoned. Potato salad was just right the fries on the other hand were limpy and greasy. The folks here are friendly and very attentive. This was my first time here and i look forward to trying the rest of their offerings. Yes this is not a UK style fish and chips place but the southern flare is what i want anyway.

Not at all what I expected for Fish and Chips! Nothing close to British style. Fish was fair but far from what I had hoped. Slow service should have known to walk when I saw No Refunds sign.

This place isn’t what it used to be. It is super slow, and on top of that the restaurant was filthy. Everything needed cleaning. Our fish sandwich came with wonder bread, and our fries and fish was greasy. I’m sorry to say but this place isn’t worth it anymore, what a shame.

I don’t know where two dollar signs comes from I just got a meal and a drink here for less than $ 6 and they started making it in front of me. I wish I lived closer.

2 pieces of very tasty fish laid on a dinner plate covered end to end with seasoned fries for about $ 4. Ridiculously cheap for the food you get. I couldn’t buy canned food for the money and get better results. Also a squirt bottle with real tasting lemon in it that is awesome, because I load my fish down with lemon. Most places just give you a slice or a packet, here I went buck wild. I meant to go back the rest of the week I was there but couldn’t, it was that good.

Normally, if I’m reviewing a fish and chips place, I’d order the fish. Or the chips. But after trying Saalam’s samosas, I may not be able to diversify. They feature a crispy exterior(egg roll wrappers maybe?)that holds a fluffy, perfectly spiced potato pea mixture. At a buck each, these might be my new favorite snack.

THEYHAVESWEETPOTATOPIE!!! Ok I’m back to normal now. You may or may not be aware that I love, love, love sweet potato pie. This place has it and the icing on the cake(or pie for that matter) is that this place is really close to my abode. Obviously fish is also on the menu. All of your fried favorites and beef ribs that I have yet to try. The catfish dinner was kinda pricey but man it was perfect and fried up by Salaam in a matter of minutes. Potato salad was great too. I have no complaints and since it’s so close I was sure to let Salaam know that I’d be back often. Here’s 5 stars to keeping promises.

You want some good ol’ fashioned fried fish? A meaty catfish sandwich? Some homemade slaw? Now, don’t let 47th& Peoria scare you, this place is is some GUUUD stuff! And even better are the owners! VERY kind, very sweet and very hospitable! If you’re ever craving some fried fish and you happen to be in the area stop and say hello to Salaam, he’ll welcome you with some kindness and some yummy fried fish. Next up, the BBQ!!!

In northeast Denver, near 46th and Peoria to be exact, Salaam’s Fish & Chips will seduce you from its stripmall spot. The owners are a very devout and very nice Black Muslim couple and their fried fish is just excellent — moist, flavorful and not greasy in the slightest. Whichever variety you choose, you will be more than amply rewarded with a huge fillet. If you want to do it as a sandwich, go ahead! They give you two slices of white bread to do just this. Salaam’s also offers up meaty BBQ ribs and a few alternative items for your perusal. Their signature fries are thick-cut, soft and moist. There are also a few other homestyle sides for you to choose from(they sadly did end up dropping the Moroccan Rice from the menu, apparently because no-one was ordering it). And how can you leave without dessert? The homemade pies are just the best — I like the Bean Pie myself. Created in the South as an alternative to heavier options like pumpkin and sweet potato, and very popular in some Black Muslim communities, this gooey, sugar-sweet favorite is sure to please. Salaam — on the northeast side, it’s more than just a greeting!
