On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina

Like most On The Borders around town. The better the staff, the better your experience will be. The bar staff at this location are really good, fast and take care of their customers. You get free unlimited chips and salsa with all On the Borders.
Love the queso. They let you make it the way you want. I make mine with ground beef, bacon and three alarm peppers. Yummy!
The best time to go is Happy Hour. One of the better ones around. They have two different times, 3PM — 7PM Mon– Fri and again 9PM — 11PM Sun — Thur. During Happy Hour you can get a lot of different drinks for discounted price. I like the discounted appetizers you can get at the bar during happy hour. You get a cheaper and smaller size which is nice since most of the appetizers are too much food anyway. I love the stuffed jalapenos, empanadas, corn quesadilla, beef mini tacos, flautas, mini chimichangas and the cantina nacho’s.

This place always has great food and good service. Just couldn’t give it 5 stars this time because they over charged me :(

You know what? I really like OTB. My experiences have always been stellar, enjoying their margaritas (really quite good), flavorful fare, and fine service.
On this particular visit I was with a work colleague. We stopped in for a very late lunch prior to a business meeting, so the restaurant was quite empty. We let our server know we were in a rush, and she happily accommodated us.
One of my regular OTB choices is the hatch chili chicken enchiladas served with green chili sauce and jack cheese. They hit the spot on this visit and helped set me up for a very successful meeting.

Love this OTB location! Sit at the bar and hopefully Sara or Allie are working because they are two of the best bartenders around. They are so attentive and friendly and will get you whatever you need with a smile. The food is always tasty and the service at the bar is spot on! Definitely a place I like to frequent!

Won’t be back again. Friendly staff but that’s about all it has going for it. Very run-​of-​the-​mill food. My girlfriend ended up getting sick from an undercooked steak. Very overpriced. Paid $ 70 for 2 entrees and 2 margaritas. Really wish I had spent the money next door at Texas Roadhouse. The server was a sweet girl, but our food took forever and she took a very long time just to grab a to go box. (Which we later threw out as a result of likely food poisoning. We treat ourselves to a «cheat meal» once a week, and besides that we both eat the same things daily. She got sick, l didn’t. So the finger certainly gets pointed at this restaurant).
On that subject we will be seeing a doctor, and from there we will determine if we need to contact the health department. I’ll certainly update that situation as it plays out. Our server then kept us waiting just to grab the check. I understand servers can be busy with other things, but as a former server myself, if a table was as easy going as we are and simply wanted a check, I’d love nothing more than to bring them the check ASAP to clear up the table. Took more time after that just to run my credit card. As a server, time is money, or time is getting a table out of your section if you’re cut. It was a dead time of night so I don’t understand what the hold up was.
All in all, avoid this place like the plague. They apparently need a major management overhaul. I’ve heard great things about this franchise as a whole, and these reviews of this particular location don’t lie. This location is terrible, and that responsibility falls on the management. Definitely won’t ever return to any of the On The Border restaurants.

Horrible service 15 minutes after being seated I got one margarita. I also got an explanation that they were just real busy, but I was sitting next to the bar, and the bartender was just chatting with Customer. The food was no better. I will not go back.

Sat at a table in bar area 5pm on Friday. The waiter was AWESOME. We are not regulars but he made sure we didn’t need anything. Food was typical on the border. No problems.

Visited this restaurant several times over the past year, and it is generally a good experience. Couple of times the service left a bit to be desired, but the food is consistently good.
Kids loved the tacos, I always enjoyed the burritos. Chips and salsa always plentiful!

We had another restaurant refuse to seat our party of 17 for my son’s 12^th birthday. On the Border in Denton took great care of us at the last minute. Way to go! The service and the staff were amazing!

Visited this past weekend, and have to say. The brunch was amazing. Get the pancakes. Best pancake in Denton.

Have always enjoyed OTB. Sad that they have left my city in SC. Was happy to see one near my hotel when I stayed in Denton. Typical OTB fare, great margaritas, salsa, queso. Love their cheese enchelada’s and tacos.

This place sucks! Kitchen closes an hour beforehand so why stay open retards! You need better customer service!!! Keep your kitchen open or just close e

Love this place! This is my go to happy hour stop when I am off work without question! I love their maragritas, their empanadas are to die for, etc… cant say enough great things about this location! I would drive from lewisville to spend my money at this location instead of the lewisville location! The people are great, service is great, and I sure do love their happy hour pricing!

Went there this past weekend. The service is great. Not just our waiter, but all of them have smiles on their faces and seem to enjoy what they are doing. The Chips and Salsa are great. The Salsa itself was rather spicy, which is a good thing.
Stay away from the rice as it’s bland with zero flavor. However, the rest of the fare is pretty good. Also, if you are a vegetarian, or looking to eat healthy, I recommend the Spinach and Mushroom enchiladas.

Did late night take out and Debra was awesome!!! So sweet from the get go. I never eat here so she made the perfect recommendation and made it a super personable experience. My order was ready quickly and everything was fresh crunchy and yummy. She even decorated my box for me. We’re practically best friends at this point. She’s the bomb!!! Give that girl a raise!

Sit in the bar, no waiting! Ordered Guacamole and it was prepared at table side. The Queso was flavor filled goodness. TV’s all over, watching the Ranger Game. We ordered the Ultimate Fajitas and a Veggie Fajitas plater. Drinks are good, beer cold, and the Tea is great!

The service was great, and the food was too. It has been a while since we have been to an On The Border due to a bad experience, at this location no less. After some convincing I was able to get my wife to give it another try, and we are both glad we did. I don’t know if it’s due to the management being changed or if we were just there on a wrong night before, but after this we will be coming back soon.

The highlight of the meal and service is the lady who brings the chips is spot on with a smile and a fresh basket right after you sit down. If you sit in the bar you will be waiting a while.
I had a tasteless ground beef taco, a guac tostada that was tiny and hard to figure out how to eat.(used a fork) The chicken enchilada was tiny and covered in a weird cream sauce. The salad had huge pieces of lettuce that had to be cut.
No drink prices on the menu. Margaritas should not cost 10 $ and not be listed,
My mission is to find good Tex Mex and report back my friends.

If I could give this no stars I would.
I went to On the Border with some friends for a few beers. We had sat out on the patio and I saw a mouse. I panicked and asked my friend to run it off. He got up to scare the mouse away and long story short he was bitten. We told the server who reported back to the manager. The manager was so RUDE it was unbelievable. She kicked us out of the restaurant. I explained to her what had happened she gave no apology and was very hateful about the whole experience.

I love the tortilla soup and the tacos!
