Comfortable, inviting environment. Woman working was friendly and offered this tourist advice about where to grab some lunch. My soy latte was great. The standard is a triple shot, that is perfect for me. The baked goods looked fantastic, I may go back for some of that yummy looking goodness. Check this place out if you find yourself in Delaware.

I went on a Saturday and got crumbcake, water, and a double shot of espresso. The espresso was very balanced and the crumbcake was a lot better than I expected from a saran-wrapped pastry. There was a very hot indie stud playing guitar in the corner of the store when I went and I immediately had a crush on him because he has great hair and nice style. He is also very nice and lots of hot girls were trying to talk to him while he played his excellent ambient music which was great to drink coffee and get work done to. There are negative aspects but they are outweighed by that cute indie boy.

Bitter, horribly strong coffee and I am assuming, muffins from GFS or a food service place, so, not that good. Decent tea selection. The cappuccinos here are just average. Monster strong, and I mean strong, and these are served ‘wetter’ for the sugar addicted college crowd. The right amount of steamed milk is what makes a cap great… I do like bold flavored coffee but wow. The ‘Sweet’ reference in the name makes you think that the bake goods would be great, nope, all food service stuff it seems. And what is better than a cold dry baked good from a case — one that is thrown in the microwave. There is nothing worse than cold food except one microwaved. I would love to see that changed and even co-oping with a bakery would be great… The second star is for — kinda cool to hang out there. Too bad they have given in to the stupid«OMGWENEED A TVHERE» mentality. I wish the baked goods were homemade and the coffee was better. It does have potential and could use some direction. Optimistic on this end. More stars await…

Okay. I am a native Delawarian and I want nothing more than to see businesses such as this thrive. But when I come in there is a different person making my coffee drink every time and therefore my drink is different every time. I don’t get the same exact thing every time but I go back-and-forth between two different items. It ranges between overly sweet and not sweet enough to absolutely no foam and just the right amount. It is easier for me to stop at Starbucks or Panera on my way out of town some mornings but when I have the extra time I choose to stop in town and spend my money here. Overall I am disappointed in the lack of consistency.

Something Sweet has gone through some ownership changes over the past few months and I am excited to see what the new owners have to offer. It’s already quite successful as a local coffee shop and hangout. It also supports the local community through displaying artwork on a rotating basis and posting fliers for events happening nearby. I know that the new owners have some other ideas in store to integrate into the traditional coffee shop feel with things like open mic nights, live acoustic music, hosting book groups, and more. Also newly added to the menu, in addition to their drinks and baked goods, are some lunchtime options. I had a turkey wrap the last time I was in and it was very filling and enjoyable. The perfect stop for a lunch with friends. I look forward to seeing what else is to come with Something Sweet in lovely downtown Delaware!

My wife and I needed a warm, dry respite from a chilly, rainy camping trip at nearby Alum Creek St. Park and ended up here based solely on a picture on Unilocal,so we had no preconceived notions going in. Ambience is excellent. Soft acoustic singer-songwriter music surrounds you while sitting on stuffed chairs, relaxing or watching OSU football on a flat screen, at tables, studying or flirting on a first date, and on stools at the building-long window bar, watching the world go by. One downer was having to pass piles of trash and garbage in a back hallway to make the trip to the basement for the restroom. I’d figure most customers will head that way during their stay, so why not keep it clean? A bit unappetizing. Drinks were good. Obviously, with indy places like this, recipes differ, so it won’t be just like your favorite Starbuck’s drink, but they did a fine job on my caramel mocha, but my wife’s vanilla latte was not to ger taste. Our blueberry muffin was warm, fresh and tasty. Staff is friendly, but not overbearing, ready to prepare your order and answer questions. I noticed that as customers left, the staff was right behind them, straightening chairs and wiping off tables for the next customers. Excellent! Overall a comfortable, relaxing visit with good drinks, great music and awesome people watching.
