Went here with my daughter, we were welcomed warmly by the staff. We ordered, a small pizza with cheese, and a crêpe with tomato and avocado. The food was extremely delicious; everything was prepared fresh when we ordered. The portion sizes were generous, and very filling. We will definitely return.

UPDATE : Yet again in Monterey and not wanting to go «downtown» party of three, ALLGAVENEGATIVEFEEDBACK I ordered a PIZZA, Cheese & Pesto AWFUL: what garbage — First off the dough tastes nothing like dough You need to have the dough PROOF and rise Flat not prepared dough, the finished product disgusting Given that the Pesto was in a sealed jar from the market either the cheese is bad also – Bad dough cost me big dough and a upset stomach for some time after if you caught in this area go to the 7⁄11 or Jack anything but ” THEOVEN”“ They make you pay first as I know many would walk with the SLOP they SERVE PS: Np Panini or Crepes after 7pm You get the hint they want to leave at night when all of the sudden the music changes, Loud Mexican music, then louder and louder HOWRUDE (the first owner here was so much better)

Absolutely horrible! Walked in and the only person working there promptly walked away without a word. A couple of minutes later they were ready to help us. We tried to order crepes. No, no crepes. Calzone please? No, that will take twenty minutes he says. OK. We ordered a cheese pizza and a cheese panini. Went to get our sodas at the machine but it was turned off. The guy seemed annoyed when I asked if their soda machine was working. After about 15 minutes of watching people behind us get their cheese pizzas, I went up and asked this guy named Ramon if our order was ready. His response was an irritated, You need to be patient!” Really? Why? Because your service sucks? Because you’re slow? Because you have no customer service skills? And what do you need to be, Ramon my friend? Maybe helpful? Courteous? Competent? He did get the last laugh on us though. When we got home my panini had been thrown into the to-go box and was in about 6 broken pieces. And uncooked. Note to manager: you may want to hire people who actually like people.

Pizza was really good that we had to order again minutes later. The crepes were good too.

Regular lunch spot for me now after moving to a new office in Monterey. This neat little pizza place has an excellent lunch special with a fresh salad and mini pizza and drink for $ 10. The nice ladies working here are hard working, courteous, and very helpful. Location is very clean as well. Food excellent and this is a high demand place so get here early unless you want to wait in a lunch line. Parking gets busy as well in the large shared lot, so again another reason to get here before the lunch crowd. Thank you nice ladies of the Oven.

Am a local came here for the first time I walked in and it was very busy. I ordered the daily calzone special and a salad. Their was two employees working with a full house I did notice the cashier taking orders was fairly new working here as I asked questions of the menu and could not really help me much. I did notice a hardworking employee working hard getting orders done I had to ask her name Maria she was awesome I seen her get orders done while her co worker looked kinda lost. It was delicious even though it was busy and a one women show it was delicious.

Good food and good service. If you like pizza this is a great small place to enjoy. Fresh toppings and great cheese. What more could you want?

I wanted to order pizza for my client. I asked if they delivered and was told no because there was only one person working. I tried to find other places but they were the only one open and I needed lunch in an hour. I ended up ordering a large cheese, veggie, combo and pepperoni. When I went in to pick up my order, there was a huge sign that says ‘We Deliver’ and I was like what the heck?! I was literally a 3 minute drive away. I have to take a star off for that. The owner was nice but the pizza was just ok and nothing special. My clients said it was one of the best pizzas they had in Monterey. I will try another place next time.

I am a professional pastry chef. I ordered small pizza and crêpe with nutella and almond. I have to say that the crêpe is tough like a cardboard. You have no idea how many strokes I did to cut that crêpe with knife. It is supposed to be soft and easy to be cut with just a fork. The flavor is good, thanks to Nutella. The pizza is pretty disappointing. It tastes like that cheap frozen pizza in supermarket. The dough is tough. Sorry guys… you guys ask everybody to comment on Unilocal and this is my respond. But the guys that work there are very courteous and nice. That is a plus.

A quaint little place in a strip mall next to the gas station. Chances by it when I went to fill gas and get coffee from Starbucks on the way to LA from the 17 mile drive. We had veggie pizza and salad. The chicken in the salad was so tender juicy and full of flavors. The tomatoes and cucumber also really fresh, crunchy and juicy. The veggie pizza was made fresh from the start in the wood fired oven. The taste was so perfect that we actually had to order another pizza to satisfy our senses. The chef was from San Salvador. Very friendly and good to chat with. Overall a stop worth making again should we drive past that way.

The people that worked here are nice. They have a 10 buck lunch nenu with a small pizza, salad and drink. The pizza is ok, I will not be back for it. The topping we’re a bit better that a standard pizza dilivery place. Nothing stood out about the crust or cheese. I definitely think price is a bit high uless you get in on one of the lunch or I think they also had a dinner special.

This sounds a bit crazy, but I did not eat their pizza. I called everywhere frantically last Sunday to ask if they sell their pizza dough for a pizza party I was throwing at my house for family visiting from England. So I asked if I could have a large amount of pizza dough(35 dough balls for 9inch pizzas) they said they would ask their manager and call me back, since they have never had that request. Honestly I was worried they would say no or not call back. But within 20 minutes I received a call saying they would sell it to me and it was ready as soon as I needed it. I was thrilled! I showed up and a nice gentleman carried it to my car for me. I’m kind of picky when it comes to dough, but it was perfect and just what we needed! I will definitely be back again not only for more dough but for pizza as well! Thank you for the great customer service!

I came to the Del Rey Oaks shopping center to grab a quick lunch at Jack in the Box, but when my friend and I got out of the car I noticed a sign that said«The Oven» which was the first time either of us had seen this little restaurant so we decided why not try it! Boy were we rewarded. We both got the Chicken Panini which came with pesto, grilled onions, bell peppers, and cheese on the most delightful bread. Holy moly, that bread! I found the prices reasonable considering the quality of food. The folks that run this little gem are so kind and I was happy to give them my business. I’m so glad I live in the area and am excited to come back and try the pizzas, salads, and crepes too!

Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon with my wife for lunch. The gentleman behind the counter flat ignored us for a few minutes while made a salad, but was pleasant enough when we were worthy of his attention. We ordered two grilled chicken panini, a soda and a latte. We got one panini, and the drinks. And that was almost 20 bucks. The food was good, but not that price good.

The crepes are large, savory with fresh ingredients and the dessert crepes are heaven. I can’t ever finish my food and I never leave anything behind when we order from The Oven. Side Note: The Pizzas are 100% better than the place that used to be here!!! Thin crust, fresh ingredients. I am so happy this place is here. When my husband and I heard it opened we ordered dinner three nights in a row, couldn’t get enough. Try it!!! Princess Layla Crêpe!!! Amazing

Great little find on our mini road trip. Great paninis and crepes and pizzas and salads. Will be making this a regular stop every time I come out this way! Definitely try it out for a quick bite. They also have espresso for a pick me up on your way home from the beach.

This was my 2nd time and I came back because I enjoyed the chicken pesto crêpe the last time. This time was different. Spoiler alert, if they are busy go somewhere else. I brought my wife and two kids and they all had their food about 10 min before me. Salads are big unless you order the caprese, but that just be the nature of that salad. My son had the tomato, basil and pesto panini. It was good but only after we sent it back to add the tomatoes. My 4 yr olds cheese pizza was good and good size for her. As I mentioned above my crêpe was way behind and I had to ask for it. I was told it was coming and that he was busy… isn’t that the point of owning a restaurant to be busy? When my crêpe finally arrived it was cold in the middle and I was told that it was supposed to be. Wait my savory chicken pesto crêpe is supposed to be cold? Ultimately he just gave me my money back without apologizing. Not a great experience.

Can you say yum!?! I’ve eaten here twice now. The first time I tried one of the savory crêpes, it had salmon and cream cheese on it. Super delicious and huge! I was not expecting it to be that big. Plus they weren’t skimpy on the salmon. Second time I decided to try out their brick oven pizzas. I opted for a margarita pizza with artichoke hearts. Not too long after I placed my order my pizza came out. It had delightfully crispy thin crust with fresh toppings. Needless to say this will be a new favorite lunch spot.

Del Rey Oaks is a scenic little stop between Salinas and Monterey where you’ll find a few of the rare places to eat outaide of downtown or the tourist zones. The Oven is small inside(5 — 7 tables) but serves up oven-hot pizzas, calzones, crepes and paninis in record time. Hubby had the cheese and turkey panini and I had a small veggie pizza with the perfect amount of everything on it. Ingredients were fresh, service was friendly. Recommended for an upgrade to Subway’s next door!
