Papa Murphy’s

My wife called in the order, when I got there they couldn’t find the order. The place was pretty busy with customers but very slow behind the counter. While waiting to re-​order my pizza I heard the owner complaining how he was not making any money. He took my order, never apologized for losing it and basically acted like he was doing me a big favor. We use to buy a lot of pizza from them but we won’t be going back after that experience.

The owner is very rude. He refuses to take coupons and attempts to act like he is doing you a favor by selling you pizza. He has a card from his «accountant» hanging in the lobby. It reads something like «I hope 2016 is more profitable than 2015.» He then wrote in ON THE CARD that he hasn’t be profitable since he bought the place. I’m not sure what he expects from his customers but I can see why they are dwindling and he isn’t profitable if he treats everyone like he treated me.

Time before last I went to this place and found a hair in my pizza it was disgusting. I waited about a year and went back again recently and they didn’t have two of the pizzas listed on the menu the guy just said we don’t have those now. The guy didn’t seem to know how to put together the pizza I ordered and had to keep going back in the kitchen and asking for help. The pizza itself was OK it did not taste spectacular anything like that I don’t think I’m going to be going back to here anytime soon

We have been going to this Papa Murphy’s for years and was always very pleased until the latter part of last year. Maybe the franchise owner changed hands? We order our pizza in advance, are told when we can pick it up and then arrive on time to pick it up. Part of the current routine is that they haven’t started it by the time we arrive. As if that weren’t bad enough (it happens every time and we order at least every other week), the manager on the last two visits told employees not to answer the phone because they were running out of ingredients. He then complained about people using coupons and that technically he doesn’t have to accept them. We made on most recent and LAST visit on Sunday, January 17. We may have to pay more, but we won’t be going back!!!

This is hands down the worst Papa Murphy’s franchise I’ve been to. Don’t bother to call your order in; it won’t get started until you walk in to pick it up. Tonight there were six employees and not a pizza had been made as five customers were standing there, four of whom called in. The employees didn’t seem to get along, as no one was communicating with each other — you can see something is going on (but it sure isn’t pizza making)!
They don’t offer much in the way of deals, which some franchises do really well at — and that’s what seems to keep them competitive with pizza delivery places.
Good luck if you choose this place. Overpriced, terrible management.

I lived in Monterey in 2012 and this place was awesome. I don’t know if they changed owners or what, but now it is terrible. I called in an order at 415 for 445 pickup and when I arrived, they hadn’t even started the pizza. I had to wait until 5pm. The owner was there and he was more worried about the rack that people were taking dough from than getting the orders out to paying customers. He is always condescending to his employees and you can tell that they don’t pay attention to him. Finally, when I did get my pizza, it looked NOTHING like the pizza on the web page as they skimped on the toppings for my stuffed pizza. I am not sure if Papa Murphy’s cares about their franchise name, but if they do, they will take this location away from this guy. I won’t buy another pizza from here until someone else is managing the location. I would rather eat CeCe’s pizza!

Love the pizza but this is the worst crew I have ever seen. They are very slow but seem to be having a good time back there. Won’t be back for a while

This place is completely unprofessional and I will never purchase pizza from them again. If I could give them zero stars I would. Firstly, the pizza is below standards for pick up food. Secondly, after packing all day I was craving pizza, so I called to ask if they would deliver to my new address and they hung up on me, and then when I called back they moaned and groaned and talked to me in a very inconsiderate manner. Really? That is so unbelievably rude. I will stick to local pizza joints.

If I could zero stars I would. This place is horrible. The what I am assuming is a manager named Mikala is the rudest person ever! She literately was cussing at her coworkers while there are customers in the store. On top of the completely uncomfortable atmosphere in there they messed up my order. I will not be back and I advise choosing a different place to get your pizza. Papa Murpheys the chain is good this particular location is absolutely horrible!

If you come here, be prepared to drown in the smell of cigarette smoke while listening to employees argue, cry, and complain about how they want to go home. We were the only people there and ordered two pepperoni pizzas and it took 15 minutes for them to even start making our pizzas because they’re too busy complaining.

Wow! I have never seen a business operate so inefficiently! I usually come here and get okay service, but tonight was the worst. I tried to call ahead but there was no answer on all three attempts. I went in the store and they kept re-​directing the phone calls and the phone just kept ringing and ringing. All of the staff were yelling at each other to answer the phone but no one would. They were throwing things around and the pizzas they made looked like the time they spent throwing them together, a mess. Not to mention, I’ve tried to use coupons here but they said they no longer accept them. I’ve asked about $ 10 Tuesday’s and they don’t do that either. This is Monterey people; you would think they would have better service than this! If anyone wants to open a franchise here, your location would do far better than this one is doing!

I love papa murphys pizza but actually had to leave because the owner was treating his employees so horribly he was yelling at them, this isn’t the first time I’ve seen this, the owner is a real jerk, I’d rather eat somewhere where the employees aren’t treated like dirt

The pizza was good but the high school kid who took my order on the phone was rude and completely unprofessional. Also as me and my friend were walking out he yelled this strange grunt at us as if mocking us that we have sort of mental disability great pizza but will never go back.

I always like papa murphys, but today got two pizzas and it was the Worst I have ever gotten. Guy didn’t know how to make it, very skimpy on meat and cheese. Won’t go to that location again.

I love Papa Murphy’s pizza and the prices but at this particular store whoever it was that answered the phone to take my order is nothing short of a complete asshole. It’s not my fault you hate your job. All I wanted was a pizza.

The pizzas are good but… We waited 20 minutes for 2 pizzas that were ordered ½ hour before arriving. Although there were three employees making pizzas, they didn’t get to ours because the owner placed our tags under the counter after we paid and didn’t give our order to the pizza makers. The employees seemed very disgruntled with their boss and apologized for not getting to our order sooner. Very poor management — employees were berated in front of customers making it uncomfortable for everyone.
The owner seemed a little irritated that we wanted to use coupons as well.

Great tasting pizza if you can eat around a long hair twisted in the cheese.

Papa Murphy’s is still some of the best pizza around, and you can’t beat the price. The coupons make it even better. But, the customer service is horrible. This is the third time I have ordered pizza, come in AFTER the estimated time given, and they still have not made my pizza yet. Also, it seems the store is run by highschooler’s, every time I’m in there. There’s been times I’ve walked into the store with no one at the counter. They seem to be in the back watching TV or on their phones or something, or sometimes I hear them gossiping and using foul language, which isn’t the end of the world, but probably not wise to do so when customers can hear you. Just really bad for the business, not professional at all. I mean, I know that this is a do-​it-​yourself pizza place, but still. It’s also a business. Papy Murphy’s, you would get a lot more customers if you treated them like they matter.

Very unprofessional location. Can’t expect A lot from high school kids. Talking about inappropriate things when customers can hear is not how a business should be ran. Great pizza, horrible service. Playing rap music in a business isn’t appropriate. I waited 10 minutes when and employees mom walked in an out before me.

Update: I think I may have to change my previous excellent review. I called in an order last night (one veggie pizza) and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes or less. When my husband arrived 15 minutes later he was told he had to wait because a costumer had come in and ordered 10 pizzas. He waited over an hour! Really? An hour for a pizza you aren’t even cooking? And hey, I called first, make mine first. I’m not sure if there is a new owner or what but my husband said the man who called himself the owner was yelling at his employees about how much money he was losing because they were going too slow. He told them he should just shut the damn door and not let anyone else in. All while the place was packed with customers who could hear every word he said!
We have always had excellent service there and we love the pizza but if it happens again we will not be returning.

Everything is fresh and they never skimp on the topping. Excellent Pizza, Excellent price and Excellent customer service! Love this place and the people who work there. We have been going there for a couples years now and have never once had a bad experience. I love how clean they keep it and how friendly and helpful the staff always is.
