The last DSC was off tha chain. Drunken moonwalk, burning my arm on a light bulb from the Bodega Nights truck, dancing ’til 4 a.m.
Oh how I’ll miss you…

So I went here last night for the final Decatur Social Club event. A good time was had by all. I dont know if it is usually like that but it was crazy that night. They dont serve bud light or other cheap beer except for PBR, which I thought was kinda weird. The place was packed and they had fake snow falling over the outdoor patio. Just a great atmosphere overall. The dance floor was pitch black and a little creepy though since you had absolutely no idea who was around you. The crowed is kindof hippsterie but everyone was cool. Not a jerk in the crowd. AND there was free cake!

Crowning moment at Azul: pouring champagne on Preston’s head on New Year’s Eve 2004 and hearing him bitch about smelling like champagne and vomit a day or two later.
Azul exemplifies the phrase: «Decatur is greater, cuz they pour til’ four.»
Glad to see the spot is still going strong after all these years. I haven’t been able to find a proper night like DSC in San Francisco; the vibe just isn’t quite the same.

Some good friends of mine (and fellow Unilocalers) had an engagement party here, and it was lots of fun. The place was rented for that event (which was pretty cheap to do, like $ 200! That’s awesome for what we got), and it was intimate and fun.
The bartender made me a strong ass drink, and was totally nice too. The food was from Raging Burrito, and was part of the package… totally nice. I would definitely consider having an event here after my friend’s party.
Now, I have never been there any other time, so I can’t speak at all about the bar atmosphere this place has, so perhaps I will have to venture out there at a different time and check that out.

I went to a private party at Azul last weekend, and it was INSANE! The dance floor is small, but it was perfect for the crowd in the building. The bartender was awesome, mixed great drinks all night, and I stayed until the very end and she poured us off some end-​of-​the-​night shots. This was my first time, but I will definitely go on a Friday night soon.

Ahh, Decatur Social Club, keeping dirty ol’ twenty somethings smiling. Cool crowd, good drinks (the bar inside the Raging Burrito section is much better), good music thanks to Preston, Rusty, and the rest of the Work-​So-​Hard crew. This is not a place for preppy or uptight. Decatur Social Club @ Azul detonates at 1 am or so until 3:30 in the AM. I have wasted many a Saturday afternoon because of a night that started here.

The party doesn’t get started here until 12:30 or later… but then you can keep going til 4ish. Definitely many energetic 22 y.o.s as Nikki says. The dance area gets super packed/​claustrophobic. The patio can be nice if you can nab a table.
Watch out for chicks on the prowl for your drunk boyfriend… it happened to me!

In addition to Decatur Social Club, which I think Nikki K. covered pretty accurately, this place is a good choice for a private or semi-​private party. You can essentially get the club reserved for «free,» provided you can guarantee a minimum bar tab of $ 200 – 250 (can’t remember). If your friends are anything like mine, that is a piece of cake.
They generally have skilled, friendly bartenders and the layout is pretty well-​suited to dance parties. I’ve deejayed a couple of them myself, as a matter of fact, and would do it again happily.

Okay, if your Friday night just wasn’t what you had hoped it to be, and wish to finish off the night blasted out of your mind dancing to great songs with hot 22 year-​olds, you should go to Azul on a Friday night.
It is filled to the brim with sexy indie chicks and guys, and the scene is a mix of gay and straight. But mostly straight, and looking to hook up after a drunken night of dancing and mingling.
It’s called Decatur Social Club (DSC) on Fridays and you have to see it once to believe it.
DJ Preston will set you straight with dance tunes to knock your socks off, and often has celebs and regulars DJ along side, which adds to the fun.
I honestly do not know if this place is open any other night than Friday, but you shouldn’t really care as it is the place to be on Friday nights once all the non– Decatur establishments close!
They have a small bar, the Raging Burrito side of the place is usually open to at least sit around in, the dance floor is narrow but fun until it gets late and crowded, and the outdoor patio is where most mingle until they get crunk enough to go inside and feel the need to dance.
If all of this nonsense sounds good to you– go!
