Great service! We only stopped by for a few drinks and an app, but ended up there for almost 2 hours due to friendly service and laid back environment. We ordered the nachos as an app and were very happy with everything. The portions were incredible and everything was balanced on the nachos. Great deal! We tried 4 different drinks and all of them just missed on the taste for me personally. The square pub margarita was pretty awful as was the old 4th ward mule. Something was just off and I didn’t catch a buzz from them at all. I would go back, but would only order beer here personally. Seriously great service though. Must point that out again!

I’ve been here for their $ 3 dollar empanadas before and recently came back to hangout with friends. For the shrimp and pasta empanada I tried, it was mostly just pasta so it felt like I was eating carbs wrapped in carbs. But for $ 3, it’s alright. I do think it’s great that the drinks here are fairly priced and that you can get a shorty if you’re not wanting to drink too much. This place is also conveniently located in Decatur square so it makes for a nice place to hangout and sit outside when the weather is nice.

You can find the Square Pub at 115 Sycamore Street, Decatur, GA30030 — it’s right on the Decatur square. Parking basically sucks at most times of the day — you might get extremely lucky and find a spot in the square but you’ll probably have better luck along a side street — the price to park is about the same everywhere — I do like that the meters will notify you when you’re time is running out AND you can add time using your phone. That’s the only way to do this right in my opinion(unless you’re visiting via MARTA — the station is on the backside of the square and quite convenient). We were looking to have dinner at the Brickstore when we realized that it was much too busy — no way will normally wait for an hour for a table, so we walked along the square to explore what was available — we hit the Square Pub quite on a whim — while it was busy, there was one table available towards the window to the front of the restaurant. This Pub is three stories of narrow space and quite cozy. The bar extends along the right wall from when you enter and there appeared to be many locals imbibing drafts and noshing — we fit right in. We were given three menus — the dinner menu, a drink specials menu and a beer menu — I was most interested in the latter of the three. Lots of interesting items on the menu, everything from Tex-Mex to sandwiches to pasta and several items featuring Hatch green chilis. There’s also a late-night menu which I really appreciate(work in restaurants for a few years and you’ll know what I mean). For food, I went with my favorite Creature Comforts Tropicalia IPA of course. For food we were both wanting burgers — mine was the Green Chile Cheeseburger — 8 oz certified Angus beef topped with Hatch Green Chile and American Cheese. I piled on as much hot and spicy as possible — it was messy and quite good. It was one of the best burgers I’ve had in some time — everything from the perfectly cooked medium rare to the bun to the chiles all worked. I had it with a side of sweet potato tots served with some spicy mayo — also delicious. Service was fairly exceptional with lots of attention our way from the server, who seemed cutely timid. All-in-all a great night and great dinner. For a pub, exceptional and leaning towards a gastropub. (also posted to my food blog)

Why did I go: to grab a bite with my bestie in Decatur and try out a new restaurant/pub I’ve never been to. We parked: Next to Decatur high school and lucked out with not having to pay. It’s a 3 minute or less walk away, plus I’ve never gotten ticketed parking there. We walked in: The set up of this place is the bar and some tables downstairs and the main tables and dining area upstairs.(What if we wanted a view of the bar?) We ordered: Pork belly Mac & Cheese and Chile tater tots as our appetizers. For our main entrees, we ordered fried fish tacos and their burger. We also got two beers to drink. The taste: The appetizers were really good and cheesy, but I wasn’t too impressed with my fish tacos. The price: $ 10 for my fish tacos with a side of beans and rice was just a little over priced because the food wasn’t tasty. One of my appetizers was $ 5 while they other was $ 7 because of the size differences but I feel like they both were worth just $ 5 each. The service: Our waitress kept checking on us a little too frequent which gave me the impression that she was rushing us out. Overall: I would be going back again. Having dinner with my bestie was the highlight of the night and the only reason I didn’t go to another restaurant because I knew she was hungry.

This place is a great lunch stop. Great walking to distance from the conference center. The food was great, service was great. Didn’t have any drinks however they had a nice list to choose from. Got the pulled pork tacos and a Cobb salad. Again food was very tasty!

Our new favorite pub in Decatur! Menu is really well thought out for the food offerings. Bar staff is great, and the owner is incredibly friendly, overall, a wonderful experience!

Recently visited and ordered chicken nachos. Bland and not very hearty. Told server and she brought queso to make things better. Manager also came over to make sure we were satisfied. I didn’t love the nachos but attentive service goes beyond so so nachos. Nice work. We will be back.

The bartender made a Texas margarita which was horrible, so My husband asked for something else in exchange and when the bill came we were still charged for the drink. My husband asked if the bartender could take the drink off and the bartender said he doesn’t refund liquor drinks. However, there was a gentlemen sitting next to us that ordered a Budweiser and wasn’t charged a single penny although the gentlemen tried to pay for it. I do not plan on returning to the square pub and I would not recommend this restaurant to any one because of the poor customer service !

A few things to know about this place logistics wise. 1. ITISINSANELYBUSY come major events 2. You will have to PAY for parking… unless you walk here 3. You will probably have to wait to get a table because it is that popular But ultimately this is a great experience because: 1. They make really well made drinks — margaritas are the standard bearer in my book. 2. The food is very homey pub Americana and it is just hearty and super flavorful. 3. As busy as they are, they work hard and the service is simply amazing

Appetizers were great. Hummus and Veggie Nachos. Entrees were inedible. Veggie burgers are some sort of spicy paste. Green beans were not cooked. Even the bread sucked. Server appeared to be new. Very slow service yet not very busy. Avoid it.

This was my first time at The Square Pub. I am in Decatur for business and decided to give this place a try. The servers were very friendly and greeted me with a smile. I orders the build it yourself grilled chicken sandwich with a side house salad. When i arrived the place was pretty empty but it got busy pretty quick.(Friday around 1240pm). The food took a bit longer to come out than i would have liked, enough in fact for the manager(i believe his name was Bob) to come out and apologize for the delay. He seemed very sincere when he approached my table. I appreciated that as a customer. Once the food came out it was pretty good, no complaints there. If not for the delay in service i would have given this review 5 stars. I still would recommend it.

My husband and I decided to try something new on a Friday night and came here. We came around 6:45p and the place wasn’t busy. We sat upstairs(on the third floor) and we were quickly greeted by a friendly waitress. She said«so and so would be our waiter and he’d be rite with us»… However, that turned into several minutes and the guy never came so the girl took our drink orders. Little did we know we would be the ones constantly waiting on this guy, our appointed server, for everything! So much so that we had to use the other girl, the friendly waitress that had the other half of the tables to help us for everything we needed because our waiter was not even around. Food was not that great. Hubby got the Chicken & Waffle taco and hot wings. I ordered the turkey and dill havarty sandwich. Mine was pretty good. Wish I could say the same for my husband. His«Chicken & Waffle Taco was nothing more than a frozen Eggo Waffle and a frozen boneless chicken nugget cut into teeny tiny pieces. Wow! Hot wings were equally as bad, with a few wings still frozen! Needless to say, with such lousy service and crappy food, we would not recommend this place nor will we be back.

Maybe not a win for families. We came for family night, where kids eat free on Tuesday, one kid meal for every adult meal. We got the Frito pie, the chorizo and shrimp Q-dia, and the spinach pear salad as the adult entrees. The kids got the chicken tenders x 2(one with tots and one with sweet potato tots) and grilled cheese with a creamy collards side. We got the pepper Mack and cheeses and an empanada to round things out. Honestly, the portions were small, but the flavor was good. The kids menu is nothing good or special. The grown up food was spicy. Good, but only just.

We stopped in for a beer during our restaurant/bar hop. The interior is very dim, like most bars. There were two large TV’s at the bar, although there was limited seating. My friends and I leaned back against the staircase to see better, although we blocked a bit of traffic that way. I ordered a shortie of beer off the draft menu. Unfortunately, the list of beers on draft isn’t super extensive and lacked variance. I’m not a huge IPA drinker, and almost all the beers were IPA’s, except a brown, a stout and a Belgian IPA. I ended up ordering the Belgian, knowing I didn’t like Bells Oberon. No idea why I did that. I did appreciate how small the glass was so I could gulp it down quickly. This is a great spot to chill, for sure. I didn’t get to explore the upstairs area, but it was still a great place to watch the Hawks game and pick up a drink!

Made an unplanned visit here for late lunch with a friend. We had planned to eat somewhere else, but due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to select another place and I came across The Square while wandering around, well, the Square. I noted they had a small brunch menu, but I was really interested in their selection of sandwiches, particularly the Turkey and Dilled Harvati sandwich. I ordered sweet potato tots as my side. When I received the sandwich, I was shocked at how huge the sandwich was. I knew it was served on a croissant, so I expected the sandwich to be, well, on a standard size croissant. I don’t know where they get their croissants but it was mega-sized. On any other day, that sandwich could easily last two meals for me, but I was super hungry after a morning run and church with only a few pieces of mango to eat. I appreciated there was real turkey in the sandwich and not the deli meat variety. I really enjoyed the sweet potato tots, as well. I only wish the cheese was a tad more flavorful. Maybe I am crazy, but the cheese just didn’t stand out to me. I feel even Swiss might have been a better choice. Service was good, our server left us alone for the most part but I did notice her walking past our table quite a bit — perhaps to check on us surreptitiously?

This place was less crowded than Brickstore Pub and we didn’t want to wait two hours for a table so we came here on a Friday night. I ordered chips with guacamole and I don’t know why, but the guacamole tasted weird. Just no thanks. On the other hand, their fries were very fresh and I almost burned my tongue because the insides were so hot. But I didn’t let that slow me down. It was perfect potatoey goodness.

This is quickly becoming my go to place on the Decatur square! From spending my NYE here to simply coming on a random Tuesday night for a quick drink and some green chile tots, the Square Pub is it! Its a tri-level place, so when you walk in don’t get overwhelmed with the small size of the bar area, simply head up the steps and grab you a table, as the food, drinks or atmosphere doesn’t get any worse the higher you go! They offer general pub fare with a twist. Extra taste without the extra cost. Tip here… anything that has green chile on it is worth a try, especially the tater tots! I have been enough times to now have a few faves and in addition to the green chile options, the Reuben rolls are a great choice as well. A crisp egg roll stuffed with juicy corned beef, sauerkraut and cheese sided with a creamy thousand island dipping sauce. I mean, come on… how can you not! I can say, that I have had one misstep here with food and that was the chicken and waffle taco. I was curious after reading the description, so naturally I had to order. My only issue with it is it truly felt like several things layered on a taco shell that did not really work well together, mainly the hot sauce component is what disconnected it for me. I love hot sauce, but it just didn’t fit well here for me. It wasn’t terrible, but it was definitely, well… interesting. Overall, I love this place for the atmosphere, friendly staff, good drinks, yummy grub, location and fun, yet chill vibe. Again, I think this is my new hometown place!
