This place a nice switch to normal restaurant dining. Love the atmosphere and it’s just fun to weirdo watch. The food is of your own making so you know it will be delicious. Enjoy!!!

Visited this establishment on Jan. 22,2016 while visiting from New York. I understand it was a busy night so we decided to wait an half hour to be seated. After we finally got an table, our server did not acknowledge us after sitting there for 15 minutes. We finally got up and left. We did not even get our order for drinks. Poor service. Hope the food did not suck either!

Today was my not so little cousin’s 19th birthday. We had about a party of 15 and the staff made sure we were comfortable. The drinks were good and the price decent.(No my little cousin did not get a drink). I had a standard angry orchard. My cousin ordered a mango margarita. My other cousins had the watermelon margarita. I requested that our table was near an outlet so that I can make sure my phone stayed charged. Kiddos they did. The food was great. I stuck with chicken, pork and a lot of veggies and pasta. It was great. I used a mix of buffalo sauce, curry and a bbq. The bill was nice. I only gave it 4 stars because the parking was a hassle. There’s many businesses around so sometimes you have to park further. This is okay unless it’s raining… Like it was tonight.

This is a nice place if you like lots of options! Most people seems to go for their buffer which is good. They have lots of veggies, all kinds of meat, pork and seafood. I was impressed that they have crawfish. Lots of good sauces you can choose from as well. I’ve been to other similar restaurants, it was a nice change that you can get white rice, brown rice and even tortillas. Nice place, a great lunch option. I would also consider coming here for dinner.

Places like this make me wish Unilocal!would add a button that allows you to rate reviews negatively. All of the one star reviews(yes, all of them) are just snooty jerks who will complain about anything that can be construed as popular to make themselves feel more«hip.» Mongolian BBQ is very much a place for young people. All of the older people I take there enjoy the experience just fine… but yes, they play loud music and everybody has to talk loudly to hear each other, and the cooks are right there in the room with you clanging their tools on the grill all night. It is a very noisy environment. If you don’t like that, don’t go. Moving on: The food is served buffet style. The people who complain about food storage quality and germs and junk are just being overly critical. Mongo BBQ would be shut down in a heartbeat if their food was deemed unsafe due to the serving conditions. It is displayed on the buffet on ice and kept cool and is under a sneeze guard. Employees constantly monitor the bars and refill ingredients. They have no control over people sticking their nasty hands in the buckets… but guess what? Right after you get your food, THEYCOOKITFORYOU. Heat past a certain degree kills bacteria. High five! It is then served to you on a clean plate. Others complain that they are not chefs and don’t know what to mix together. I don’t know what to say… it’s part of the experience. Sometimes you get a bad bowl. Guess what? They are more than happy to bring you a new bowl if you don’t like the one you made. Nobody is judging you. They understand that not every bowl tastes good. If you need suggestions, there are suggestion cards available for good ideas. And honestly? go with what you like from other places. What do you cook with at home? They have a whole bunch of different options. Start with the basics! You can venture out of your comfort zone or you can make something you know you will like. Nobody is in charge of your food destiny there but you. Own it. As for my own personal experiences, here they are: Don’t be shy to bring large groups, but try to make sure everyone is responsible for paying for their own food. It can get hairy at checkout. They only give you one bowl to fill which can be frustrating for people like me who like a little bit of almost everything… you really have to master the art of stacking the food. I hold my hand up at the edge of my bowl and dump the vegetables kind of between my hand and the meat in my bowl so that if anything tries to roll out of the bowl I can press it back into the bowl. ALSO: if you like the seasonings directly on your meat, try to remember to go to the seasonings before you add vegetables. I ALWAYS forget. Keep in mind that you also have the salad bar at your disposal. One of the Elite Unilocal!ers(Hi Allison F!) who also reviewed this joint once gave me this tip while we were at a party here together. They have shredded cheese at the salad bar and you can put a pile of it in a sauce cup and ask the griller to melt it on at the end(not too soon or it will just burn). Yum! Last but not least: if there’s a lot of people at your table, rotate who goes up. Otherwise you are all waiting on each other at the grill station and nobody is watching your valuables.

So my fiancée and I went to the Mongos on Michigan Ave in Dearborn. We have been to this Mongos multiple time and have never had an issue before today, and we will never be going back. We got our salad and sat back down to start eating. After taking a few bites of her salad my fiancée pulled a used glove from her plate. We immediately stopped eating and called the manager, Drenny, over. We explained to him what happened and he said, «Well that happens.» Umm no it doesn’t! My fiancée and I have both worked in restaurants, and that has never happened. The manager went to the kitchen to «investigate,» and when he returned he said that he personally removed the salad from the bar, which he didn’t because we could see the bar the whole time and he never walked out there. He tried to give us $ 5 off coupons, but could not answer when we asked him why we would ever want to come back. He then told us that we needed to calm down. No! We will not calm down. Your restaurant is disgusting and we will never be back, and we will tell everyone we know about this experience. I spoke with the regional manager, who didn’t really seem to want to help. He just told me that the GM of the store would handle the situation. My fiancée talked to her and she just wanted to bribe us with a gift card to make us shut up. NO we will not shut up about this until everyone we know knows about this.

+ My bowl was cooked perfectly — It’s work to build your bowl, and Noisy, Noisy, Noisy It was my first time in this chain. We got here at 9:30pm and we still had to wait. Boy this place is busy. We waited for 10 minutes and then they sat us, right near the noisy grill, and the gong Oh well. Server was nice, explaining to us that we get a bowl, we load it up with meats, veggies, and sauce in another cup, then they cook it. It’s fun, but I can see this concept getting old(for me) fast. It is indeed nice to pick your own contents but picking up slimy chicken and sirloin is not the prettiest thing to look at. I’m sure it’s fresh. All the veggies looked great. I chose the Kung Pao sauce, nice and spicy(but not too much). They cook it up on the grill, you can feel the heat. I don’t like how some of another person’s food can contaminate your food. I heard you can get those metal guards but nobody asked me if I wanted them. The cook was friendly, but I didn’t see a lot of tricks with the blades. My food was cooked well, and tasted very good. We chose the tortillas and brown rice, which tasted well. The dish really filled me up. I can’t see getting the unlimited salad bar with it. Maybe I would go up one more time for another dish, but we got dessert, and the Brownie with vanilla ice cream was to die for. Hot brownie too. So yummy, highly recommended! The place is very open so it’s super noisy. They need to put up some short walls, to cut down on the noise and not make it feel like an open cafeteria. Would I go back? Yeah, I guess, but it’s not a whole lot of fun to me. I personally like to be served my meal and not having me work for it. Perhaps if it was cheaper it would be a better value and worth it. But for $ 12.99, and $ 6 for the dessert, it’s not that reasonable.
