Sometimes when you’re really hungry everything is good. And if it’s not, then there is something really wrong with the restaurant. In this case, it was true. The pizza was SO good. I wondered if it was me skipping lunch and going straight to an early dinner weighed heavily in this opinion and it did not. I ordered a full 4 square Detroiter. It’s probably enough for 1.5 or even 2 people(light eaters) but I ate the whole darn thing. I was famished and inhaled the first 2 squares. The 3rd and 4th were just eaten because I enjoyed the flavors so much. The added bonus was there was no crust! This only works if you’re not really a crust person. I should have asked but I wonder if there is a thin crust option. That could make it even more heavenly. Pizza with bold flavors without all the guilt.

I’m a fan. In case you’ve never heard of Buddy’s, and this is the first review you’re reading, I’ll explain: Buddy’s does pizza. Square pizza. Square pizza with the sauce on top. Square pizza with the sauce on top and tall, crispy edges. Ok, so we all know about the pizza and the Buddy bread(get a side of ranch or three). But did you also know that their lasagna, chicken parmesan, and chicken noodle soup are awesome? Highly recommended. Service is mostly pretty good, although it does seem like the servers can disappear for a while. No matter, my face is stuffed with cheese and red sauce, so I don’t need the waiter hovering. The patio is pretty sweet, too. Some tall shrubs keep it decently veiled from Michigan Ave traffic. Definitely a go-to for dine-in pizza.

One of my favorite pizza places. The Detroiter is a great pizza… Love the square slices! Buddys bread and wings are great too. Always a tasty meal.

HORRIBLY disappointed. After months of people telling me to try Buddy’s Restaurant out, I finally did a few weeks ago. I am still shocked at the terrible service. We were not there at a particularly busy time to be so disparaged. Our waiter was extremely uninviting. The food, however, was great. I decided to shrug off the bad service, and give the waiter the benefit of doubt, maybe he’d had a bad day? After we finished our meal, we waited about fifteen minutes for our waiter to come around so we could ask for the bill. We then waited another fifteen minutes to get it to us. Apparently, it takes a half hour to print out a receipt from a computer. After receiving the bill, I waited TWENTY minutes for the waiter to return so that he could take my credit card and run the transaction. He didn’t. Finally, I got up and headed toward the hostess to ask if I could just pay because my waiter was taking too long. She was unbelievably rude and snarky. She completely disregarded my presence and disrespectfully told our group, without even looking up at us, that we were SUPPOSED to WAIT for our SERVER. I capitalized the words she emphasized with a horrible attitude. Since the Pizza Papalis closed down in the area, I’d hoped that this would be my new go-to pizza joint. Unfortunately, that won’t be the case as I do prefer places that treat customers with some sense of decency, regard, and respect. It gets 2 stars instead of 1 only because it has amazing food.

Best pizza around. The food is always good. The service is always great. This is gourmet pizza at its finest. Try the wheat crust on the mediterranean, it is so good. They have the best soup and salads too.

After being recommended by a ton(about 4. Lol) of people across the country who called buddy’s their fav restaurant in Detroit, I decided to finally go there with my friends from work. We ordered a ton on things starting from the veggie appetizer sampler, mozzarella sticks, Hawaiian pizza, meat lover, custom pizza and my fav — the Antioxidant pizza(this had my fav toppings — artichokes, mushrooms and spinach) and it was delicious! One of my friends ordered a kale salad and he loved his salad as well. The Greek salad was decent as well.

Blew into Buddy’s for a quick«8-square» for dinner prior to an event in Dearborn on a Saturday night. After mentioning that we were on a bit of a tight schedule, our server kicked it up and prioritized our order in the kitchen to meet our timeline. Now that’s service! Buddy’s, a 70-year old Detroit institution, started out as a Blind Pig in the ‘30s and added a tomato pie cut into squares for the first time in 1946. The original location, still operating at «Six & Conant», is now a very rough part of Detroit’s ‘hood. For you non-Detroiters, «Six» is Six Mile Road(2 miles closer in to Detroit than rapper Eminem made famous in «Eight Mile»). Buddy’s has since expanded to several suburban venues offering the area’s best pies to the rest of Southeastern Michigan. This Dearborn location, fronting a busy Michigan Ave., is one of their busiest. In the summer, it offers tables under umbrellas outside to enjoy your pizza in Dearborn’s fresh air. We grabbed a customized Sicilian 8-square w/‘shrooms, onions, green peppers, ham and pineapple. It was right there. The freshest ingredients tell the story as to why Buddy’s is the only local pizza joint that was included as «One of the best 25 Pizza Spots in the U. S.» by well-respected Food & Wine Magazine. …Solid 5 for food, service and ambience. Buddy’s simply gets it done right in the Ford country.

Are you a simple person, lookibg for a good beer and even better pizza? Buddy’s is the place! The fiancé and I split a Detroiter, and it was simple yet so delicious! The Oberon helped sooth my sore muscles after a tough move, and(if you’re a Ford guy or gal) the entrance has a bunch of neat Ford monikers including the mustang and the blue oval.

Buddy’s Pizza will forever be one of my favorite pizza places in Michigan! You just can’t go wrong with a deep dish pizza. I came to this location while on lunch at work and received great service and great pizza. The server was very attentive and quick, the pizza was delicious, and every staff member we passed was friendly! Will definitely be returning! The parking is a little tight since they only have a very small lot but there is additional public parking further back.

After a flight up to Detroit from Charlotte I was ravenous! So obviously I hopped on Unilocal and looked for some delicious noms and Buddy’s had some great reviews. The restaurant itself had a relaxed, cool vibe and the staff was friendly. We ordered some mozzarella sticks to start and they were perfectly cooked. They were so good I forgot to take a picture before we scarfed them down. But definitely try them if you’re wanting an appetizer before your meal. After about ten arduous minutes of ‘which pizza do I get’, we settled on the Detroiter. Best choice I’ve ever made in my life… or maybe that’s the hunger talking. But it was SO good. The cheese blend and spices they use are anything but bland. The pepperoni are small and bite sized. The crust was literally the perfect crust. Crispy and not thin or thick but perfect with a slight ‘deep dish’ feel. But the mega-win factor was the tomato basil sauce drizzled on top. Talk about flavor! We got an 8 square and the two of us couldn’t finish it even though we were starving. Thoroughly recommend Buddy’s for your delicious pizza needs.

Excellent pizza and in a different style than most are use to. The crust is light and crispy. Perfectly cooked. Their salads are fantastic and come filled with the toppings you order. As far as unique styles of pizza this is top of the list. If you’re in Detroit you NEED to make a stop at Buddy’s. The Pizza will blow your mind. The atmosphere is casual and there are plenty of TVs. Service was excellent. I was seated immediately and my drink order was taken right away. The pizza was out quick even though the restaurant was full. I was very pleased with my experience and will definitely be back again.

Everything I’ve tried from Buddy’s has been great. My favorites include the Henry Ford pizza and their minestrone soup… But I’m OBSESSED with Buddy Bread! It’s like soft pillows of delicious garlic ecstasy for your mouth.

For any one who isn’t aware of Buddy’s, it is a Dearborn-must. The pizza and antipasto salad and Buddy’s bread all sell themselves and need no reviews, but I want to leave a review for Buddy’s as they not offer a lot of healthier options as well. I just had the Chicken Waldorf salad(minus the blue cheese) and it comes over mixed greens with cranberries, sliced red grapes, sliced green apples and walnuts. It comes with a balsamic vinaigrette, but I asked for the honey lemon vinaigrette. The salad is $ 10.99 and it’s delicious. I totally recommend! PS — They are very accommodating for groups and do take reservations for them. They also offer a group package if you have 12 or more that comes with unlimited pop, salad and pizza for $ 12 per person!

Detroit style pizza is the best pizza in the world and Buddy’s is the best at making it.(I think they might have been the first to make it, too! Check out the Wikipedia article on Detroit style pizza.) With that said, the pizza is a must order here. There are a variety of pizza options on the menu. My personal favorite is the Detroiter, but really you can’t go wrong with any of them. All of them are square, with a crunchy crust that is both thick and airy. The sauce usually comes on top of the cheese. I’m sure the thin crust pizzas they have are delicious, but don’t order one. If you do you’ll miss out on the Detroit style pizza experience and all the crusty goodness. I grew up in Dearborn and this Buddy’s location has been part of so many important moments in my life. So Thank you Buddy’s for providing me with 20+ years of pizza and memories.

Love Buddies. Reasonably priced. Great square pizza. Not too«deep» as far as a deep dish and their bread is not too filling. Somehow light. The breadsticks are Ok. The salads are the same as any other place. They excel with their pizza for sure.

We came here for lunch with a big party. They were very accommodating. They have s good lunch deal for $ 13 per person for two topping pizza and soda. You could pick any two toppings. We ended up with some interesting choices like pineapple and jalapeño, onion and green bell pepper, chicken and jalapeño and buddy’s original. The waitstaff was good and pleasant and the pizza was good. Definitely a good place to come back to.

I had Buddys Detroiter pizza and buddy bread for the first time ever the other night. Kinda weird considering I’ve lived in Dearborn for 2.5 years now and went to UMD. ANYWAYS, it is pretty pricey for pizza but definitely worth it. $ 21 for a large Detroiter which was 8 pieces. It reminded me of Nikis pizza in Greektown which I LOVE. The Detroiter was good and I liked the sauce on top. Buddy bread was excellent, too, it reminds me of Little Caesars breadsticks but 10x better. I would have to say this was good, and I would definitely return.

This Tuesday afternoon was a real treat for me. I got to meet one of my favorite Detroit area Unilocalers, Allison F. and I got to try some Detroit style pizza for the first time. Allison was craving their lasagna and I wanted some local style pizza so Buddy’s was the obvious place to go. We started off with the fresh bread sticks with the house made marinara sauce which were right out of the oven. I ordered a mushroom pizza which was very good but different. Detroit style pizza is nothing like central Ohio style pizza. It’s square and it’s cut into squares so you«Wedge Cut» folks may just want to avoid this place all together. The only way I could describe it is that It’s like a giant flat bread stick with the toppings put on it — the wrong way. Confused? OK. So you take thick buttery soft bread dough, add the toppings first, cheese second and then the sauce on top. Yeah, it’s set up backwards and it’s a little strange but it is really good. Don’t ask me why, I just rolled with it… So long story short, good food, good company and a fun slightly kitschy ambiance made this a great place to check out.
