Place is garbage. Use to be good back in 2000 to 2005. I wouldn’t waste 1 dollar in this place. Many other places to try in Dearborn or Dearborn heights

The kabobs were almost burnt, the chicken was chewy, and the salads lacked flavor. The crispy chicken wings were very good nonetheless. Overall, the food was disappointing.

Fried fish had no taste, it was just big. Bread was cold, flat, boring. Crushed lentil soup was watery. Service was slow. It took us 15 minutes to get a waiter. Bathroom had no towels. On the good side, the apple and carrot juice was good. What a waste of time.

I ordered a takeout meat(lamb) shawarma with tahini sauce to go. It was ready and I got there and was delicious! They were nice on the phone and nice at the counter during pick up. Can’t really ask for very much more when ordering carryout. I will be back one day to have a sit down dinner. I love middle eastern food, and this place is top notch I remember from when I had it years ago. I love how they make their bread in house!

Trust me, i would give this restaurant five stars. But, there’s this waiter(i hope the manager reads this and do something about it). After we sat down, he approached our table with no welcoming nothing. He leaned forward on our table its and he said what do u guys want. We were a family of six, not a group of high school kids or college frat boys. I was shocked by this kind of attitude. I was gonna say something about it and maybe call the manager but for the sake of our dinner i didn’t. Other than that the food was amazing and loved the arabic atmosphere. Ps: the waiters name is Waleed.

Absolutely the best middle eastern food in the area. Never had a bad dish or experience here.

I beg to differ with some of the reviews here. With so many places to get middle eastern food in Metro Detroit I am still not sold on this. Service was rushed for a table. of 4 at 7 pm. Grape leaves lacked flavor and just tasted like lemon rice. Shish Tawook was seasoned and tasty but overcooked. Rice plentiful and bread was good. I’ve had better elsewhere, place was busy so maybe it was just an off day. Jury still out on this one.

You cannot get better Middle-Eastern food in metro Detroit, I swear. I don’t eat anyone’s grape leaves but my family’s, and these are GOOD. Everything is fresh, the rice is perfectly cooked, and the portions are big. Be mindful that this place is more traditional. I have to admit, I forgot that in my rush to choose a place for dinner, and I wore a rather sexy red dress during Ramadan. Oops! The service was great, and everyone was very nice, but I really wish I would have brought a sweater. I didn’t mean to be disrespectful. Their bread is the best anywhere, hands down.

Always great authentic middleastern food! Lebanese Cuisine with a polite staff. Recently remodeled. Also a great middleastern breakfast

Amazing Ramadan buffet! So many options on the buffet. The bbq chicken breast in this creamy garlic sauce and the rice were my favourite. Service great too. Even though it was crazy busy, our waiter was on top of things… cleaning up plates and refilling beverages. The décor is beautiful and the place is very spacious.

Everything was wrong on our latest trip to Al-Ameer this past friday. From the waitress who greeted us and gave strange expressions on our request for a particular booth(on an afternoon where the whole place was empty except for one table), to the person who brought the menu and later served us. .I saw her tearing the thin pitas apart(for putting under the food on platters) DIRECTLY on the table without any plate/cutting board underneath(Eww!). She was poor in responding to any requests we made during the meal & wasnt up for any feedback at all. Even the food wasn’t like always, meat was much dry & salad was too sour. When i told the server that salad used to be so good with lemon on the side so whoever likes extra could squeeze more on top, she dismissed by saying more people like it this way and that no one told me it used to be like that, ever since im working i dont bring any lemon on the side! Big family platter came WithOUT the falafel. When requested a lid and 1 – 2 extra garlic sauce to go with the huge platter leftovers, her response was ’ i cant’ !what? U cant bring a lid for this 1 garlic sauce or cant bring 1 – 2 more(she brought us 4 small garlic sauces & tahini for us 5 people, we didnt touch tahini but used all garlic). She started quoting example of ”how a guy abused the extra sauce policy, he came here ordered a salad and requested 9 garlic sauces to go at the end”. I mean give me a break lady… Our order was over $ 80 without the tip and her response was quite humiliating. That called for a feedback to the management as servers like her are the ones whose attitude can spoil a day and cause a loss of loyal customers for years, in a jiffy. I did speak to the management who listened to me with respect but their response couldnt make up for the ruined lunch we had on an otherwise great day !

Good, but not great. Service is either great or horrible. Good pricing. Better options for Middle Eastern in the area. But will back in a pinch.

The good is good here, but the service is rude and awful. Don’t ever ask for special request because they will flat out tell you it can’t be done. We ordered the al-ameer platter and I asked that the chicken be put in another plate because we didn’t want it touching the meat. They said they couldn’t do that. JUSTPUTITONANOTHERPLATE. My husband is allergic to chicken and they couldn’t make this simple request. Over this place.

Great food, for most part. «BEST» Toom(garlic sauce) & fried kibbee I have ever had!!! Shawarma was lacking in spice. Fottoush & hummus were great. Service was good. Will definitely be back!

Yum! Every time I come back to visit I must eat here! We ordered the chicken shawarma sandwhich, chicken shawarma plate, mediterrenean chicken plate, falafel. Everything came with salads! Portions are huge!!! Prices are super reasonable! Bread, garlic sauce and the best turnips are complimentary for every table. Highly recommend!

Jacob and I visited Al-Ameer to see what all these great reviews were about. We went out of our way to visit and were expecting a steller experience. What we got was just sad. When we walked in, a hasty woman behind the counter told us to wait for a server to seat us. A woman came up and said«Follow me» and stuck us in the back corner. There weren’t many diners in the place, so it seemed odd to put us so far away from everyone else. The surly waitress came to our table and just asked us «What do you want?». No «Hello, my name is ____, I’ll be your server» or anything. She was just rude. We told her we’d never been there before and she just said she’ll be back. No offer to tell us their specials, most popular dishes, anything. She simply did not try at all. We ordered and the food was okay… just okay. We’re still smitten with the food at Malek Al Kabob and even Hamido over what we ate here. The service at our dinner was the nail in the coffin over the food, though. Our waitress never came back to check on us. She didn’t even do the sneaky«How was your dinner [set check on the table]» move. She simply walked over to our table and slapped the check on the table. Umm… okay. We paid the tab, left the restaurant and will never be back. Fancy interiors and good reviews on Unilocal don’t make up for the lack of service and respect by the waitstaff.

Never fails, the out-of-towners get wowed by this place. One or the other, they have never had Arabic food or not as good! My past guests have gone home searching their hometown for something comparable to what we have here, no luck! I’ve had the picky eaters like plain sandwiches to the ones that want to try anything and everything like brain sandwiches! There’s something for everyone! Had amazing service and the food was delicious as usual. The parking is limited and small, there is more parking 2 lots away on Ford Rd. It gets really bad that people start personalizing their own parking spots. It’s well worth it if you can get in. Will be back soon, there’s a chicken breast sub sandwich that I spotted on my way out!

Visited awhile back after reading and hearing some pretty stellar things about this place. I don’t live around here anymore but I have relatives and friends that do, so I’m around often enough. Anyway, popped in with my sister and father for a little family sit-down. The restaurant was roomy, comfortable, and fairly quiet — good for really catching up with someone. The freshly baked bread was delicious and our server extremely attentive. We had a vegan, vegetarian, and omnivore at our table, and we were all extremely satisfied. I went with the Al Ameer Baked Salad(I’m a sucker for eggplant, folks) and a Vegetarian Grape Leaves sandwich. Both were excellent. I can also personally attest to the deliciousness of the Baba Ghanouge and Mjaddera Sandwich. My sister reported the Greek Salad to be quite tasty, and my father enjoyed his Chicken Tawook. I, for one, will certainly visit again.
