great banana smoothies. The spinach pies are good. Everything is really really fresh and good. The young counter help are all cute and helpful!

I really like this place the hummus and tabouli is so scrumptious and delectable. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The pistachio phyllo dessert is the tastiest. It’s so clean and bright a real charmer.

3.75 Stars Sajouna Café is a Lebanese bistro and a fantastic place to grab an amazing breakfast, lunch or brunch and among many of the delectable items to try there are two that stand out the most for me: The Kibbeh and the pies often referred to as ‘Mana’eesh’ in Arabic. The kibbehs are huge — crispy golden shell with savory ground beef and spices in the center — probably my favorite iteration of this particular Lebanese version. The last time I had them this good was at the upscale Zaytinya Restaurant in Washington DC. THAT good! The flatbread pies(or mana’eesh) are spectacular. You can order many different kinds and there is also a several vegetarian options. However, I must say that the meat pies are legendary — they are thin and served hot out of the oven with a generous portion of seasoned and spiced ground lamb with a smokey finish from the wood-fired oven. I ordered about 20 of these to take home as they can be frozen for an excellent quick home meal. The interiors of Sajouna are not bad but as is the case with many large Lebanese bakeries and cafes, could use a bit of an upgrade from the bright fluorescent lit space with weird murals flanking the walls. I would love to see some more modern touches of pendant fixtures for a more dimly lit and true café/bistro atmosphere. The place is regularly packed with people pining for a delicious and quick meal. I would definitely go back here and get more of the Mana’eesh and kibbeh. I will definitely try the sweets too — as they have a huge desert menu. There are also an ample amount of Middle Eastern groceries like olives, stuffed eggplant pickles, Lebanese yogurts, cheeses, and other spices and ingredients. A very fun place to go — will definitely be stopping by again in my next visit.

I was surprised how fast management contacted me, they apologized for the rude behavior that the employees had and offer me a gift card to return … I asked them to pass the card on to someone who may need it more. I will defiantly come back and give them a try … Thank you Ahmed

Decent middle-eastern(Lebanese) food for the price. I would prefer Yasmin’s over them but since they are closer it can do. My service always varies depending who is serving me. But besides that. The falafel is good. 12 PCs for 8bucks with a plate of veggies and large container of tahini. And the taboulli is decent as well. The bread is the best!!! And the cook it to order so you will not have stale bread. Their macaroons are good too. A little more on the sweet side for my taste but that’s just me. Overall I would drive out my way to go here. But if your in the area, its not a bad place to stop by.

This is a nice place to dine in or to take out. When you walk in, you see these awesome looking dessert pastries in their case which look so inviting yet decadent. It has a cafeteria like set up where you place your order. It has a large drink cooler with a really wide selection of drinks to choose from. Then, it has a nice area to sit down at with family style booths. The staff are friendly enough to answer any questions you might have and willing to provide you with samples to help you make up your mind. Then, there is the food. This time I got the chicken shawarma sandwich. Some places have dry meat in the sandwich, but not this place. It had nice moist chicken. It was nicely seasoned and had slightly spicy pickle slices in it. The spice level of the seasoning wasn’t under powering nor over powering, and in fact it had a nice bit of taste flair to it. In other words, this sandwich had flavor. The spinach pies might have been a bit too thick with the pastry, but the spinach filling was awesome. It had a really good level of spice to it. And the rice pilaf was a really nice base to the meal. Overall, I would say that this place knows how to make the star ingredient of their dishes shine.

Great hummus & fries. Helped with my gluten free needs during the busy Ramadan season earlier this year.

It’s ok. Everything tastes the same. Too bready without enough flavor. Last time I ordered a chicken sandwich and when I got it, it looked and tasted like charred bread and garlic sauce. It’s convenient but not my first choice. Worth a try though specially if your culturally curious and inexperienced you might like it more because you’d probably be more used to McDonald’s and Subways and such. I reduced it from a 3 star to a 2 star because I gave Hamidos down the street a 3 star so unfortunately fir sajouna their food isn’t as good as hamidos. The other option was giving hamidos a 4 star which it isn’t then putting sajouna at a 3 star or putting them both at. 3 stars which would be lying because they aren’t equals and I cannot tell a lie. So you see the amount of work it takes to fairly rate a business. It’s not for the weak.

Great. Think deli counter with booths. Like a fancy McDonalds with awesome food. Got the falafel wrap, mjadra, and garlic with pita. $ 6. They have a cooler of pop, not sure if they do the whole juice thing but I think they do. I don’t have much to say other than that… the people were nice, the food was fresh and great. Wish the mjadra was warm, but I got over it… Go there and love it because it is great. Oh and I think they are open 24 hours during Ramadan. So bonus if you are fasting.

Great for lunch. TONS of hot food and pastries. Dine in or carry out. The chicken shwarma sandwich was excellent. I also ordered a chickpea/bean soup(still kinda green on the dish names) which was great. Service was fast and friendly. A total winner!

I feel I need to stick up for this place from some negative reviews I see here. This place has never disappointed me. I probably come here about once a month for the past three years. I have always been treated with exceptional courtesy. It’s not a fancy place. The food is displayed cafeteria style. When expressing doubt or curiosity about something I wasn’t sure about selecting, they’ve always offered me a sample. It seems mostly staffed by shy teenagers who will respond very well to a kind smile, so I would suggest this approach to the people who are upset with being treated rudely.(Sometimes it is within your power to spread a good vibe rather than amplifying your displeasure into the environment…) Additionally, the food has always been delicious, and I concur with another reviewer that the mujadara is exceptional. All their baked goods are also tasty and highly recommended. Their baba ghanouj is smokey and tangy and always perfect. Sajouna is one of my go-tos when I am too tired to cook. I can get a little something for everyone, and the whole family is satisfied… It’s also unbelievably cheap. I have also put in large orders here to bring food for events in lieu of catering. I called in advance, and they had everything boxed and ready for me when I arrived. The food was very well received by my friends at the event. Their selection thankfully allows for accommodating the vegetarians and vegans in your life. I want to add that once we were looking for a place to watch an international soccer game, and the staff here gladly tuned in their TV in their small dining area to the game we wanted to watch. Some staff members even came to watch a bit of the game with us when they were slow. Exceptionally accommodating and gracious.

I have to say their zatar, cheese and meat pies are tasty. I love the little cheese and parsley with the sesame on top. Their service is friendly and quick at the register. I also gave their chicken shawarma and shish tawook sandwiches a try, their great. The falafels are amazing, they come with a tasty dipping sauce too. I still have more to try out at this bakery and I have a feeling that the next thing i try will be great!

I’m a bit of a snob with regards to Mediterranean cuisine. Far too many places in Dearborn serve dry meat and flavorless side dishes. I had an online coupon for SajOuna Café and expected only to get a mediocre discounted shawarma for lunch. Fortunately, I was wrong. My partner and I had a kafta, tawook, some kibbeh, a falafel platter, and a couple fruit smoothies. The tawook was succulent and juicy; the kafta was a rare treat with a delightful combination of seasoning and quality meat. We both loved our smoothies, and the kibbie were, in my opinion, the highlight of the meal. SajOuna is a casual place, with service cafeteria style. Don’t go there expecting white tablecloths or a waiter in a tuxedo. But I can personally guarantee that even without a coupon, I’ll be visiting this place again to have delicious food in a casual ambiance in the near future, and I’d recommend you do the same.

By far my favorite restaurant in this part of town. Their restaurant is looks and feels clean, a quality that many Arab restaurants lack. Their selection of food is extensive and for those who don’t eat much meat, they will find a very vegetarian friendly meal. Their meat based stews are also quite delicious, but my favorite dish here is their brown mujadara. It is exceptionally addicting. Lastly, they have my favorite baklava in town as well. Overall this is one of my favorite restaurants in Detroit, as I’ve become a regular over the past couple of months.

Good place for lunch, good selection of baked goods, and good service. I like the fact that you order and pay for the your food at the counter, so there’s no need for a server to slow you up on your lunch break.
