I came across this little gem while visiting Dayton Ohio for a family event. I requested to be taken to a place that I didn’t have back home… no an issue from what I could see and the cool location we landed in near Dayton Mall! Chop House!!! So we park and go in… we were greeted by a friendly young lady who seated us immediately. We were then quickly welcomed by our server who would be: Cool Cody! He was a cool and honest cat… loved him! This guy was so smooth and fast with it, that we would ask for refills on our drinks and they would be on the table for at least 3 to 5 minutes before we knew they were there!!! lol Cody gave us honest and very helpful recommendations and he put his«personal stamp» on the ribs… stated that they were the best around. Well… I ordered them and maaaannn where they tasty. Tender… fall off the bone ribs!!! I was very pleased and I also ordered a Margarita. nice! There overall selection was good with a wide variety to suite most if not all dietary needs. They have a nice selection of sides as well. I tasted the mac and cheese, it was cheesey/creamy restaurant style. My dinner came with a small side of apples too. They were cute and tasty! My server was Cool Cody, my meal made my heart sing and I was a happy camper at the CHOPHOUSE!!! xoxo– Cody! Truly a Gem!

Average… Just average. I don’t mind spending money on a good steak but not these prices for just average. Probably won’t be back.

Great dinner. Nice atmosphere. The side salad is worth the extra money. I had the steak sandwich, which was good. However, I was jealous of my husband’s filet mignon… it was delicious. We were way too full to try the dessert. We would go back for sure.

The food here was magnificent! I had an 8oz sirloin with chicken gumbo and gourmet Mac and cheese and my fiancée had a prime rib sandwich with the same Mac and cheese. As I said the food was amazing, I’ve been to New Orleans and the gumbo here was just as flavorful as what you can get on the bayou. The steak was cooked a little more than I typically like but my knife cut straight through and the flavor was out of this world. My fiancée liked her sandwich as well. The waitress was inattentive and we were her only table, that’s the only reason this place gets a 4.

So disappointed. We went because we used to love the chop house. When we sat down the table cloth was ripped and stained. Our menus were dirty and the waitress took away three of our bread plates due to uncleanliness. All of the light fixtures were covered in cob webs and dust. Service was very slow as well. When our meal finally came they couldn’t figure out whose was whose and some plates were missing items we ordered. The bathrooms weren’t clean either. The air fresheners were urinal mats the smell was overwhelming. Hopefully they can turn it around and become the place we once loved.

We loved this place so much we celebrated our 10th anniversary here. Five years ago. We have tried it since then and it has been hit or miss. Food prepared wrong, disinterested servers, ect. How we today we went to celebrate a birthday and the service was horrible. When we notified the General Manager Evan Ford, while at the restaurant of our issue his disingenuous interest took the cake. We shall not be back to this restaurant. Once a jewel in the Dayton area has turned into a big turd.

Are here twice while staying at the Holiday Inn Express next door. Really convenient to this hotel. I had the baby back ribs and they melted in my mouth. BBQ sauce was flavorful. My husband had the turkey burger and it was nice and juicy. We went back one afternoon for coffee and dessert. I had a piece of key lime pie which was perfection and my husband had the cheesecake which had perfect texture, but not enough cheesecake flavor. Asked for berries on the side incase they weren’t fresh. They were and added a lot to the cheesecake.

This past weekend, a few friends and I elected Chop House to be our first stop on an epic bachelor party night out for our gamer-buddy Chris. I’d never really heard much about Chop House, but Fred – knowing my fondness for Unilocal – claimed that it had a solid 4 star rating and some recommendations from his workmates. I was rather glad we had reservations at Chop House because, unbeknownst to us, one of the local high schools had their homecoming dance that evening, which meant that Chop House was full of homecoming dresses and corsages. Luckily, we were able to get a table fairly quickly, and were seated in a corner booth where we could fête the soon-to-be newlywed. Foodwise, Chop House is just that – they focus on their steaks and other grill items, which provides a sizable portion of their menu. I opted for a cut of their prime rib, Chris elected for the sirloin, and our friend Will electing for the bone-in pork chop. Fred went for an order of ribs, accompanied by an appetizer of sweet corn tamale cakes. I was particularly pleased at the quality of my prime rib, which I had been a disappointment at a few other restaurants where I’ve chosen it. The prime rib was well-prepared, served at exactly my preferred temperature, and accompanied by an au jus that was made precisely the way it should be. The jus adhered to the meat smoothly, providing a perfect emphasis on the beefy flavor of the prime rib. The corn tamale cakes were another highlight. The cakes were individually soft and flavorful, avoiding the common issue of dryness endemic to cornbread. Topped with a bit of avocado and some fresh pico de gallo, the cakes were surrounded by a chipotle crema which provided a tasty flavor contrast. Our visit wasn’t all roses, however. Service at Chop House was a bit under par for what I’d consider to be an upscale, borderline-fine-dining steakhouse. The time between our drink orders and our actual orders was substantial, and our server made a few miscues(forgetting drink refills, asking the same question multiple times). I realize that this was a busy Saturday, but that’s when a good front-of-house crew brings their A-game, and this wasn’t. Oh, one other thing! The drinks there are sizable and quality. Fred’s sangria was a brimming glass of deliciousness, while Chris’s Moscow Mule was equally attractive and delicious. Kudos to the barkeep! Overally, if you want a solid night out and aren’t afraid to pay for a quality steak, Chop House is a great choice!

The Chop House is sort of what you would expect. It is a chain restaurant and that shows some. You are going to get soundly average steakhouse fare. It won’t be good, it won’t be bad, and it will be a little overpriced for what you are getting. The décor needs updating. I understand steakhouses run to the dark, but when it is so dark I can’t read my menu, there is a problem. Anyone who thinks this is chicken tortilla soup has never had chicken tortilla soup. It isn’t BAD… just don’t call it chicken tortilla soup. Service is a little too slow for what they are trying to be. Not bad, just below what I would expect for«fine dining».

This place has been here for quite some time and seems well liked. We gave it a try and we’re very disappointed. Not busy at all but when I responded that I did not have a reservation I was told by the hostess she would have to check with the manager. They did find room to seat us at one of the many empty tables. The service was barely acceptable and the food was slow in coming out, long wait in between each course and nothing served to antagonize of our 5 member party was hot. Uppity attitude, bad service mediocre food. Our $ 150+ would have been much better spent elsewhere.

Omgosh so good! Went on a Monday night. The filet mignon was perfectly medium rare as I like and the Caesar salad was good as well. I also got a loaded potato and it was hot and delicious! Just a stone’s throw from Holiday Inn Express too! Sorry no pics, I was too hungry to take them!

I got the bruschetta as an appetizer to start with. And it was delicious. For the entrée, I ordered a lobster tail. It came sitting on top of sauce. The sauce was ok, but the lobster tail itself was dry tasting like it hadn’t absorbed any flavoring. I found pasta sauce to make it taste much better. Cheesecake was normal tasting.

This place is lunchtime gem, tucked away behind two other equally delicious restaurants in Chappy’s and J. Alexander’s. There is a bit of an old school charm with The Chop House that is ever so comforting. But I’m losing my way. This is a lunchtime nugget of deliciousness. Probably over 25 dishes under $ 10, including a fantastic prime rib sandwich, turkey/avocado/goat cheese sandwich and some very tasty salads(no joke.)

This is my go to place when I want a delicious steak. We’ve been here several times, and I now know that the ribeye is my fav. My husband likes the filet, but I didn’t care for it. He also liked the pork chop. The salads are nice and fresh, and the creamed spinach is wonderful. They also make a super special Bloody Mary that is an appetizer in itself! I just wish that they would use real butter with their bread and real whipped cream on the deserts. The staff is very friendly.

First time at the Dayton Oh Chophouse location. Been to the Tennessee and Kentucky restaurants and knew from those experiences that this would be a great lunch. The prices have never gone up in years. The prime rib sandwich is too die for! So tender and the onion bun is so fresh that it just melts in your mouth. The mash potatoes are fresh and the menu prices are unbelievable! Lunch prime rib is $ 10. My sister had a sirloin steak lunch for the same price, but with a loaded bake potato. She loved it. Our great server was Renee. We could not ask for more in the service and ALWAYSGREATFOOD!

Let’s begin by saying the options in Dayton are muted at best, and limited at worst. I ordered a Caesar salad, asparagus, and Rosemary chicken. The table bread was a little sweet, with a honey-like flavor. Reminiscent of a Honey Maid™ graham cracker. Not terrible, but let’s be honest and say that’s not a flattering comparison. The Caesar I could tell was made with anchovies, which is traditional, but the romaine was a little flavorless and did not seem as fresh as I would expect from a place whose minimum steak price is $ 25. The asparagus were thick and watery. Overall on the vegetable front, it seems like they need a better source. All that said the chicken was moist and delightful. It didn’t look like much, but I can tell you with confidence this is better than I can grill chicken. My only criticism? It could have been hotter. I felt like I was waiting for awhile. Anywho, they have an average scotch selection but the bourbons are not bad. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. If you’re looking for a dinner to impress someone, probably a soft pass. Not bad for a Sunday brunch or weeknight outing, if a little on the pricey side.

My favorite steak restaurant. Hands down. And trust me, I’ve tried many, including Ruth’s Chris and other high end restaurants. My husband was a server at Victoria Station for many years — we know good service & food when we find it. We’ve tried the filet, prime rib, Blue Cheese Chopped Salad, onion rings, oh, and the tamale cakes for an appetizer is to die for! Drinks are expertly mixed(by true mixologists). Wine menu is impressive. Wait staff is highly trained and attentive without being intrusive. Lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended for special occasions where you want the utmost in your dining experience.

Trip to Dayton for the Air Force Marathon, so we stopped here the night before my run. The place has a great ambiance that is quiet and relaxed. It gets very busy, so if you aren’t an early bird like us, reservations are recommended. I ordered the baked Schrod(little cod) and it was delightful. The best part was the tartar sauce. It was delicious!!! The bread they provide you at the table is also so yummy, as it was warm and sweet. Overall, I’d highly recommend this place. It is pricey but nothing too expensive. Give it a try!

Restaurants across a parking lot and within walking distance of a HIE are few and far between. And I should know staying at over 50 different locations every year for the past 3. I ordered the Boston Baked Scrod with the Creamed Spinach and it was darn delicious! Started with a Caesar Salad and washed down with Michelob Dark Amber Ale on tap. I couldn’t, and didn’t, go wrong. Add to that a seasoned dectarian bartender named, I’m not sure, cause she didn’t introduce herself, and it made for an excellent culinary and imbibing experience. Definitely 4.5 stars and great fantastic location, ambience, service and food.

Very good food.. We had party of 8 and not a complaint from any of us.. the staff treated our group wonderfully. We had reservations and the party before us was still lingering on so we had to wait 25 minutes.. The manager came out and personally apologized to us and ordered two appetizers for us to be ready as soon as we were seated on the house. We will definitely return again soon.. Thanks to your staff for a delightful evening.

Updating my prior One Star review. The General Manager of this establishment was very kind to fix the charge made to my card in error from my last visit to this restaurant. In my previous review, you will see that I had left a cash tip with my bill, but was still charged a few dollars tip to my card. Huge no no. The General Manager contacted me as I whole entire route back to California from Ohio via phone and email. I was refunded what card was wrongfully charged and was quite happy with his willingness to make right to their mistakes. Thank you, Evan!
