When I’m craving endless amounts of sushi and do not want to make the drive to Sac for it, Nami’s is the place to go! Nami’s is located deep in East Davis near the police station and University Village apartments. The restaurant itself, is pretty small and sometimes there’s a wait Friday-Sunday evenings. I can see why since dinner is only $ 18! My eyes honestly sparkle when I see salmon nigiri. Some of my favorite rolls that I order are the 49er, Nami and the Red Dragon! I love any roll that has salmon in it. It isn’t the freshest fish, but it has decent quality compared to the other AYCE sushi places in Davis. For dessert, order the fried donuts and bananas! The donuts are super fluffy and the bananas aren’t packed with dough. Both are generously sugared. Also, if you have a huge group, they also offer the boat for you! Where you can basically order it all at the same time so your group doesn’t starve waiting on itty, bitty plates of food.

Been here twice for lunch at a wonderful low price of 12.95 per person. Of course since it’s all you can eat at that price, you can’t really expect amazing service and food, but I think what they offer is more than enough to make anyone happy. They offer a moderate selection of nigiri, but it can be a hit or miss. For the most part whenever I’ve ordered salmon nigiri, it’s been pretty good, but for the others, I’d order it one order at a time to see how the fish is that day. Yesterday, when I went with my friends, he ordered two orders of Tuna nigiri, and he really struggled to finish it. The texture was just off. A few other nigiri options include hamachi, white tune, and unagi. Rolls are also offered, and these are your average run of the mill rolls you see at most restaurants. Again, it’s pretty straightforward, and the rolls come out fairly quick unless they need to be baked or fried. A few of my favorites include the dragon, the rainbow, the lion kind, and the deep fried California roll. Of course the main star of the ayce is sushi, but if you’re craving a palate cleanser, they do offer some appetizers such as miso soup, tempura, and gyoza. Again taste-wise, it’s pretty basic, but it hits the spot, and the gyoza and tempura have always tasted freshly fried for me. Service-wise, I do think the waiters really try to stay on top on their stuff, but both times I’ve come, it’s been a packed house, so I understand there is a lot to keep track of. Occasionally, a roll is missed or we get a roll we didn’t order, but it’s ayce, and I’m not a picky eater so it’s fine by me. They do close after lunch, and re-open for dinner, but a waiter will come around asking for last call, and the first time I came, I ordered a ton of stuff, and there were no complaints. Overall, decent sushi at an amazing price. You can’t really beat it. My friend told me for dinner they offer hand rolls, but I’m not sure how much more dinner costs, and what else they offer in addition to the lunch menu, but hopefully I can return sometime to try it out!

Giving Nami a 5⁄5 because this is the best AYCE Sushi place you can find in Davis. I prefer Nami over that of Fuji, Davis, or Jusco. If you’ve ever been to Sac and tried Raku, this is what Nami reminds me of. Unfortunately for all you shashimi lovers, Nami does not offer Shashimi, but lucky for you, they do have nigiri! Nami’s is located on the East side of Davis. IF you have no way of getting there, you can take the A line to get there. Otherwise, you just drive straight down Russel and it’ll be in a plaza on your left side. The servers are really attentive when it’s not crazy packed. Nami’s has been gaining popularity, now that they’re more established. The sushi quality is great! The rice isn’t drenched in vinegar, so it tastes good and you don’t get sick of it. I love getting the Unagi Nigiri, the unagi pieces are generously big and the unagi to rice proportion is just right. Most places stuff you with rice, but not Nami. They the real MVP and they the real homies. I come here to satisfy all my sushi cravings because, ya Nami!!! Haha get it? Ya naahh mean?! yah yah? okay. I’m done.

Warning: 4 stars is not for good quality fish. The reason Nami ges a 4 star is because the price is very affordable for the quality. It’s definitely pretty good for the lunch price $ 13. Personally, I don’t think Nami is worth the dinner price at $ 18. Anyways, there is NO sashimi here. The salmon/sake nigiri is my favorite thing to order here. I can eat a bunch of these. The cut is sometimes not the best and sometimes its very fatty. Its not thick but it’s not thin. Like I said, worth the price. The rolls are pretty good, I don’t eat that many rolls because I want nigiri but the orders are 4 pieces each so its not bad if you want to try a bunch of different rolls. GETTHEDONUTSATTHEEND! They’re so fresh, warm, crispy, soft, and heavenly! If you want to go on a fancy amazing sushi date, I would go somewhere else. If you wanna save money and get your sushi fix and be satisfied. come here!
