Kumon Math and Reading Center of Danville

Where do I begin? I started Kumon since I was seven years old and have continued it though the first year of college where I had completed the program. The program itself helped me stay at least two years ahead of the standard curriculum. Some people may not enjoy the amount of repetition involved, however, for me, the repetition solidified the concepts that were involved with each levels. What I enjoyed about Mrs. M was she would be approachable whenever I had questions regarding repetitions. When I thought I knew the materials well, she was more than willing to move me along and start the new level. Whenever I thought I needed more practice, she would assign me the appropriate packets that would help me understand and would follow up whether I still had trouble. Another notable thing is, if I had too much things to do, Mrs. M would adjust my homework so that it was reasonable for me to finish daily. And of course if I wanted more pages, she would gladly help me.
The kumon center at both San Ramon and Danville have tutors at each table, therefore the tutor student ratio is great. Mrs. M would place me with the most compatible tutor as I went higher in the program. There were times where I would be out of town or couldn’t make it to class, then all I had to do was to call the center and ask for my homework to be placed in the mailbox. This was great, since I could pick it up anytime I was free. For a woman that has to keep in track of over a hundred students, she is wonderful and has a system that allows her to know each of her students.
Kumon is a great program. As I think back, it helped me a lot to always be ahead of my other classmates. Of course, I didn’t enjoy it when I was a child, but there is no denying that this program helped me!

We love Sue Monahan and her Kumon center in Blackhawk! She has been great with my 13 and 15 year old and has helped them tremendously! I am so glad we found Sue and know that my kids are now getting the help they need! Sue wants them to succeed and knows how to help them! Thanks Sue!

My Daughters have a combined 14 years at the Kumon Learning Centers in Danville and have made great strides in Math and English as a result of the instruction at Kumon. Sue runs a top notch facility. She works tirelessly to ensure that her students learn and understand the concept of what they are studying as her goal is to help your child be successful both now and in the future, and my daughters have benefited immensely from their time with Sue. I strongly recommend this facility to anyone that wants their child to be able to compete in the current academics and the future Job Market.

Sue runs this place like a tight ship, and we love it. Started in 4^th grade, when one child decided they were «the stupidest kid in the world» when it came to math. Two years later, that same child is now 2 grade levels ahead in school. My other kids go as well now. All doing fabulously in school. They still don’t race to the car to go on Mondays and Thursday, and no one ever really wants to do the homework, but they get it done, and we see the results.

Our girls have been doing Kumon for some time and have greatly benefited from it. The Kumon process is well thought out and even though it is a lot of hard work, it is well worth it. Mrs. M is very good at staying on top of everything and runs the center well. She schedules regular conferences with parents to track the progress of the child. Also the yearly award ceremony motivates the child to keep improving over the years. The Kumon journey teaches the kids to challenge themselves every day and Mrs. M provides a very conducive environment.

I have to say that Sue is one of the most caring teachers I know. She runs 2 centers full of children and she knows all their names and how each one of them are doing. We, like many others, started with Kumon as a supplement to the public school teachings as we found that school was not spending enough time on the topics needed for a child to fully comprehend a subject. Kumon’s process is to learn a topic, do the work-​starting off with easy questions-​and the questions are repeated until you’ve mastered it. once you’ve mastered the questions, the questions slowly get harder and harder. As you repeat the work, you child finishes the work more accurately and faster each time. This process demonstrates that with practice-​you can complete the work quickly and accurately. IT IS NOT SOMETHING THAT CAN BE UNDERSTOOD OR LEARNED WITHIN A ONE MONTH PERIOD. With this process, my children are now one to two grades ABOVE their grade level on Math and Reading.
For the people that are saying that Sue is rude and is in this for the money, they cannot be more wrong. Sue may not show much emotion, but it does not equate to her being rude or mean. Sue may be more strict that what we’re use to seeing when it comes to children’s behaviors inside the classroom, in the immediate facility of the centers, and their work. I am glad that she is a teacher who cares enough about your child teach them about respecting others and themselves. Sue reviews every single child’s progress and meets with them to make sure that they are on the right track in learning.
with that being said, I have to acknowledge that Kumon is NOT for everyone. You as a parent have to be involved to make sure that your child finishes the work, even when it gets repeatitive. As the old saying goes «Practice makes perfect” — and that’s what Kumon does.

This Kumon center does nothing but repeat the same work over and over again even if your child gets all the answers right and Aces it every time. The owner is rude beyond belief and only cares to make a profit. Save your money and send your children to a different Kumon center there are others who actually want to help kids grow and reach higher levels. Absolutely disappointed and shocked that she is been running this place as long as she has. I would give no stars if I was able!

My daughters have been coming here for about four years. Mrs M is the owner, and she is thoughtful, caring, and very good at what she does. I can tell that she really wants only the best for all of the kids who take Kumon. My daughters do try to get out of coming twice a week, but their math scores and understanding have improved immensely. My younger daughter just got 2^nd place in the Math Olympics for the 4^th grade. Mrs M offers many prizes and incentives for the kids, as well as a yearly awards banquet, where everybody gets a trophy. I would highly recommend both of her facilities, in Blackhawk and San Ramon.
