David K Padgett, DO

Dr. Padgett is a very competent and wonderful doctor. He is highly experienced, compassionate, supportive, and proactive. He genuinely cares about the struggles of his patients, and is a good listener. His staff is always polite and organized. His patients are in very good hands. I highly recommend him.

For the past five years, I have had the great pleasure of having Dr. Padgett as my palliative care doctor. I am currently 33 years old, and have been living with a very debilitating disease since I was 15 years old. Needless to say, I have seen many rheumatologists and pain management doctors throughout the last 18 years, and Dr. Padgett is the only doctor who ever actually stopped to listen to what I had to say and took into account my wishes and desires for my care. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs a pain management/​palliative care doctor. For full disclosure, I am a registered nurse who works with oncology (cancer) patients, and I have seen countless cases where the doctor who was in charge of making sure the patient was comfortable had a set pain treatment regimen that the MD followed no matter what and would not deviate from that care plan, no matter if the patient was having more severe pain then what of their pain treatment regimen and could adequately treat. Dr. Padgett will work with you 100% of the time in order to make sure you are both comfortable but still functional in your life. He has done an amazing job of making sure he does not over prescribe powerful pain medications and he utilizes a whole range of treatment modalities to best get your pain to a comfortable level. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is serious about taking an active part in their healthcare and their pain management. I have had the great pleasure of having him be my palliative care doctor for many years, and I hope that he will remain my doctor for many years to come.
P. S. — if you’re looking for a «Dr. feel good» or someone who just runs a pill mill and who will prescribe you whatever you want, he is definitely not the doctor for you. So I wouldn’t bother wasting your time going to see him if all you’re looking for is a prescription for recreational drug use.

Absolutely disgusted. I was referred to this «Doctor» for a back injury as the result of a car accident. The referral was sent to their office immediately. for 2 months no one from the office called to follow up. When I called to follow up I was told by the EXTREMELY rude receptionist that my referral had «probably gone to storage» and that I would have to have the referral sent over again. I asked to speak to the office manager and was told she was not in and «works from home a lot», so I asked to have her call me back. I called the referring doctor and had the referral sent back over immediately at 3pm on a Wednesday. Again, no one from Dr. Padgett’s office called me back. I called again on Friday (more attitude and rudeness from the receptionist) and was told that the referral had been received, but apparently no one thought it important enough to call me back. I asked again to have the office manager call me back. I requested to set up an appointment now that they had my referral and was told my insurance (Hill Physicians East bay) was not accepted. This is after I had called my insurance company and Dr. Padgett’s office and both said they contract with one another. I explained this to the receptionist (again, rude) who told me someone would have to call me back. I called back a week later after receiving no call back and was told because I had been «rude and threatening» to the receptionist, who told me 5 times I would receive a call from the office manager, and that the Doctor had decided not to take me as a patient. The following day I received a call from a blocked number that ended up being «Dr. Padgett» himself, who informed me that he would not see me because I was «rude and abusive» to his front desk people, and that he «has not taken my insurance for over 10 years.» well, I spoke with the insurance company today (12÷5÷14) and according to their website (updated 12÷1÷14) they do accept my insurance. I am disgusted that I will now have to start the whole process over. SHAME ON YOU ALL. A sad excuse for a medical «professional».

He is simply the best! Down to earth and he wants to find good results. The best thing about Dr. Padgett is that he is willing to take on the system (insurance companies, etc.) in order to do the right thing. He is undoubtedly one of the most caring and brilliant doctors in the Bay Area.
