Amazing short rib! Heard a lot about these guys and just had to try their famous sandwich when I saw their truck at a music fest. Definitely would come back!

Wow. Simply wow. With everyone and their mother doing a version of braised short rib, these guys DOITPROPERLY!!! The tacos are all around amazing. Great tortilla, meat, arugula and cilantro. Just amazing. Truffle fries are so good that even if you’re full, you’ll eat the whole plate, plate and all. We tried everything on their menu and NOTHING was less than amazing.

Last Thursday a charity fundraiser was held at one of my job sites and they had 4 food trucks on hand. I attended and had two empanadas off of «The Empanada Trucks»(WAYGOOD) and figured that was lunch. BUTTHEN… I saw a coworker in the throes of passion chowing down a sandwich which looked beyond delicious. Needless to say, I couldn’t resist. I walked over to «Slow Food Truck» and ordered the Beefy Cheddar. ***OMG*** I could have ate 5 of them it was so good! Braised beef swimming in cheddar cheese, crispy shallots, potato bun … ’nuff said. Hunt this truck down and feast. Also, get the truffle fries.

The SFT Tacos are incredible. Best tacos I’ve ever had! Short rib, arugula, queso fresco, crema, and fried shallots! Unreal!!! The shorty sandwich is great too! Looking forward to a butter poached lobster roll in about two hours!

the truffle fries are awesomely crispy with perfect amount of seasoning and herbs. $ 7 is stil a bit much for papas fritas but suckas like me pay for it. onto the lobster roll, yes it was delciously buttery, yes there was some decent chunks of lobster in it, yes it was 3 bites small, and yes it was $ 15. I’ll still eat off their truck for sure bc it was good but will go a cheaper more bang for your buck items.

The best tasting sandwich you can get from a food truck is here! It is called a Ono without bacon or Pig with it, which has ham, shredded tender pork, pineapples, shallots… This tastes so amazing. I last saw you at Tobacco Road in like October. I never thought I could find you again but last night at Johnson and Wales off Biscayne I did!(tears) :D

At the Young Circle food truck round up this evening, I made a point to order my main meal from the Slow Food Truck, after reading all the rave reviews about the short rib sandwich. I was a bit let down from it, sadly. The first bite was delicious, but I couldn’t eat much more than that because it was so salty. Two of my friends tried it as well and they agreed with me. It’s not that it was bad — the meat was tender, and I love shallots, but it was just too salty to be able to finish it. I don’t know if that’s normal, or maybe I shouldn’t have had a bubble tea beforehand? I can’t give them a terrible review though, so I’ll stick with three stars. Still, I wouldn’t order it again. I paid $ 9 for a sandwich where half of it ended up being thrown away.

I’m a fan. Delicious short rib and pulled pork sandwiches. Nice big refreshing lemonades. Friendly workers. They take credit cards and are super efficient at getting your order out. Seriously, I’m still thinking about those rich short ribs and crispy shallots. Yum.

The Stank. I didn’t actually have the blue cheese burger named above; I just love the name! I did have their braised short ribs sandwich. Yummo! Love the bits of crispy shallots on it. And their fries are good and crisp and salty. I will return in 2 Fridays to the Palmetto Village Center to try more!

Had SFT for the first time tonight at the round-up and I definitely made a good decision! I had two of their specials for this evening. First, I had the Beef Shortrib sandwich which consisted of beef shortribs, queso fresco and shallots. This sandwich was very good. The shortribs were nice and juicy and the shallots and queso definitely added a whole new element to the sandwich. Next, I had the Pig cubed(pig x pig x pig) which was exactly what it sounds like with bacon in addition! How could you go wrong with a shaved pork sandwich with bacon on it? The pork was marinated in mojo and you can definitely taste it. I loved the mojo flavor which went really well with the bacon and the nice crispy bread that it came on. One more note — their Arnold Palmers are delicious! :) I will definitely be back to the SFT next time I can catch up with it!

Oh No! I finally tried the Ono sandwich. This sandwich is a kosher jew’s worst nightmare as it combines roasted pork, ham, and bacon with juicy pineapple and fried shallots. One bite and your heart will stop either from the deliciousness of the Ono or the blast of cholesterol. Definitely one of the best sandwiches I have had from a truck. Oh, and if I didn’t need any more calories, I also had a cup of their awesome fries. There should be a defibrillator on the side of this truck. The Ono and the Short Rib sandwich are a 1 — 2 punch that need to be tried. One of the best trucks at BTTR fa sho!

I finally checked out the Miami food truck scene(FORTHEFIRSTTIME) this afternoon in front of the Herald building downtown. The event itself is very cool, with free parking, music, and tables and chairs set up along the sidewalk. SFT was the second truck I visited, and I found the value to be superior to that of the first. For $ 15, I got a nice sized sandwich for me and one for my friend. I’m a sucker, so I tipped $ 2. But, I got a free bottle of water from The Vizcayans, so my karma came back to me. Anyway we got the Ono and the Short Rib Sandwich. The Ono was every bit as awesome as I had expected, with juicy pulled pork and fresh pineapple to balance the saltiness. They are smart to serve these sandwiches on French bread, which holds up fairly well in what could easily become a big mess of a sandwich. The flavor of the SRS was on point, but I was disappointed in the dryness of the meat. We arrived at 2:00PM, nearing closing time, so perhaps this affected our experience. The girl behind the counter was very friendly and the food came out quickly. As I vascillated between 3 and 4 stars, I thought about what being a «fan» means. I don’t think I can say I’m a «fan» of this, or frankly any food truck I’ve tried to date, because I wouldn’t go out of my way to return. That said, it was certainly a pleasant experience and I enjoyed my meal.

As a caveat to this review, I must divulge that one of the co-owners of the Slow Food Truck is a friend of mine. Take from that what you will. This hasn’t influenced my review in any way, but whether you choose to believe that or not is obviously your call. A few weeks back, some friends and I headed up to the BTTR with the specific design to try out the Slow Food Truck. When we got there, the line was out of control — a testament to their awesome food, no doubt! After perusing the other trucks, we made our way back to find the crowd had died down. SFT’s menu isn’t all that vast, but I appreciate that. Sometimes an overwhelming selection is just too much. We decided to split 3 sandwiches: The Stank(a bleu-cheese-stuff burger), the short rib sandwich, and the pulled pork sandwich. We decided to forego any fries, as we’d just chowed down on some short rib cheesy tots from the Dim Ssam truck. A lot of Unilocalers mention the wait to get the food. I really didn’t think it was that long. We parked in the grassy knoll within earshot of the truck, and before we knew it, our name was being called to come get our food! It might be Slow Food in that the ingredients are fresh and locally sourced, but it’s definitely not slow food. All 3 sandwiches were amazing, but our group’s hands-down favorite had to be The Stank. The cheese was perfectly blended into the burger, and each bite offered just enough delicious bleu cheese to not make it overwhelming. Both the short rib and pulled pork sammies were stuffed to bursting with their respective meats. SFT doesn’t skimp on the portions, that’s for sure. Prices are right on point — about $ 8 for a large and filling sandwich. I’ve heard awesome things about their mini cupcakes, but by the time we got there, they were sold out. Bummer! But definitely something to keep on the«To Try» list for next time! I hope to make it to another SFT outing soon cause that Stank burger is calling my name!

So this is my second food truck experience and I have to say it hit the same notes. The staff were cool, the food was great, and the cost continues to inflate. I ordered the short-rib sandwich and I have to say it was pretty amazing. It was like a dry ropa vieja full of flavor and these little crunchy things that were just spectacular. The sandwich was of decent size though I wish they would’ve scrapped all of the short-rib into the sandwich instead of leaving some behind to be washed away; still there was a good amount put into the sandwich. At $ 8 a sandwich however it feels as if I should’ve received this meal at a restaurant with a higher quality bread and a small side. The taste of the sandwich is full and flavorful but it barely compensated for the price. It’s the type of thing you only buy once so you can say you had it; because a second round isn’t exactly fiscally sound.

Short Rib sandwich is all I can say, WOW, huge, juicy, soft bread, with the most flavored tender meat. Took one bite and had to have it. So far this truck has been my favorite for price, quality, service, with so many items to choose from. Last week I was sitting on the curb eating and a man next to me had the biggest burger I had ever seen. I asked where he had gotten it and he pointed at the Slow Food Truck. So now you know if you want some awesome food with huge portions especially for a good price hit up this food truck. I have thought about this short rib sandwich since I had it, it was that good. This truck has given me a new found love for food truck’s.

I love this truck for so many reasons: 1. They’re relatively inexpensive, especially when you consider portions. It’s a great value compared to most of the trucks out there. 2. The Fatty is the most glorious cheeseburger I’ve ever eaten while knowingly taking the risk of heart attack. It has melted cheese inside. Nuff said.(around $ 6) 3. The short rib sandwich is huge and meaty and juicy and great and a total party in my mouth.(also around $ 6) 4. The cupcakes are pretty awesome too. Small, but awesome. They’re a sweet little ending to a savory sandwich.($ 1 per cupcake) 5. The staff is cool. They remember us when we come back, and they seem to be genuinely happy to be there serving up some delicious food. The line is always long at slow food, and it is sloooowwww food. You’ll wait a while for your order, but it’s worth it and everything tastes better because they take the time to make sure they’re giving you a good product. Make sure you get there early on the food court nights because I’ve seen them erase items off their marker board menu because they’re so popular and some things sell out. Enjoy!

In my view, this is one of the more intriguing trucks out there, as it conjures up romantic notions of fresh, organic, local, sustainable foods, lovingly prepared. I think the actual results fall a bit short of my(admittedly) over-romanticized expectation; however, I’d still say the food stands a cut above that proffered by the typical Miami grease-slinging truck. The specialty here is the short rib sandwich, which the truck’s staff refers to as «a Shorty.» It’s a decent-sized sandwich, overflowing with some pretty tender, flavorful shredded short rib meat. It’s with the fixin’s that I begin to wish they’d gone in a bit of a different direction with this. The sandwich comes with crispy shallots, arugula, and cheese. To my personal preference, I thought the composition and proportions were off. First of all, fried shallots. What’s the deal with these trucks and fried food? They’ll fry anything and everything, and I’m sick of it. I have to draw the line somewhere, especially with something as delicately flavorful as a shallot. Instead of some nice onion flavor complementing the sandwich, you get little anonymous crispies that taste like fried anything. I’d rather see them sauteed, or even plainly boiled, and then layered on the sandwich. As for the arugula, my sandwich came out with only a few small sprigs of it. It might as well have not been there, as I couldn’t taste any pungent greenery. Some more of it would have made for a better balance, as all I seemed to taste here was short rib and bread with a hint of fried batter and cheese. They did not go overboard with the cheese, which was cool. Even given these criticisms, I did enjoy the sandwich. It was still miles better than anything else I sampled that night.
