Slightly better than diner food with a much higher price tag. I wasn’t very impressed, and service is on the slow side. Nothing spectacular here, no real specials or blow your mind deals. I’m sure this place might be great if you haven’t been anywhere else in Danbury, but there is such great food here and this place doesn’t stand out.

Personal favorite. Good food, strong drinks, a good place for happy hour. Bartenders usually are good at remembering repeat customers too

First visit. «Jimbo Sandwich» w/side salad… hot bun, hot tomato, hot lettuce… fresh out the microwave. Nice beer selection. Service good but amateur/inexperienced. i’ll give them another shot. It’s really not that tough guys…

Great Place! Come Here To See The Game All The Time! Try To Change Up What I Order, But Can’t Help But Always Lean Towards The Pub Burger/FarmHouse Pizzetta! Delicious! Only Place on The MillPlain Strip That Has A LateNight Menu 7 Days A Week! Which Is Key, I EAT A Lot! Staff Is Usually Friendly/Assertive Especially Due To The Loud Groups I’ve Witnessed Come In For the Games. Great Guy/Friend Hangout!

Hands down the worst place to get a drink on Mill Plain. My friend and I were blatantly ignored by the bartender(the mean read head). We had to wait twenty minutes for our bill and I practically threw money in her face to get the hell out of there. The other patrons were obscenly loud and obnoxious, and she did nothing to stop this. She didn’t even seem to care that the behavior of a particular group drove other customers away. And this is not the first time I have been ignored and subjected to poor service here. Never coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. Burger was good though.

Service is always slow. I don’t like coming on crowded nights. The bartender with the colored hair served 6 guys before me and I was clearly waiting awhile. I had already ordered a few drinks and appetizer so it’s not like she wasn’t getting a solid tip. The other bartender got to me more often and she was way busier. Food wise; Nachos are so gross. They’re overly saturated in grease like someone emptied the fryer on it.

Excellent food here! I had the Santa fe burger and couldn’t be happier! The menu is easy to read and the place is very clean on the inside — a modern look but refined around the edges — the interior is minimally decorated with wood used everywhere, and Mason jsrs are used as cups. The place is a bit expensive but I think it’s 100% worth the price. Definitely recommended.

Burgers are really good here. Definitely try any special burgers if they have them. One night they had a burger with bacon on a glazed donut. It was heaven. Husband likes their boneless wings and Monday nights they have a pretty good wing deal. Would recommend if you want a good burger that is not over priced.

My favorite spot on Mill Plain. It’s a sports bar but more upscale. Food is really well done for bar food, the beer selection is crazy impressive with Sip of Sunshine, Alpine, Maine all on draft the day I was there. Best spot on Mill Plain if you ask me!

Meh! The service is slow and items take a lot of time to get from the kitchen to the table, also from the bar to the high rise tables which are right across from the bar. I waited for about 10 minutes for a single order of a Pale Ale and my friends orders were messed up. The only good thing about the evening was the hot wings and some oddball«chowder» soup that was red in color. What happened? The clams gave their precious lives to be in a soup and the kitchen can’t get the sauce right? Most likely not going back, maybe not after 8 pm anyways.

I really like Square One — the food is always awesome and it’s a super clean place. However, the wait staff is awful. My last visit was for lunch and my companion and I were the only guests in the restaurant. The waitress came by once for drink orders and once for food orders. Another waitress brought our meals out and didn’t bother to check on us for the rest of the meal. Aside from the giving us the check, we never saw our waitress again. I had to flag someone down to get drink refills and the host was the one to clear our plates. I’m not one to expect the red carpet to be rolled out when I go somewhere, but considering the place was empty and much of the staff was sitting on their phones, it seemed like the service could be better. This was not an isolated incident and every time I go I know not to expect much, but I’m thinking about throwing in the towel for this place in favor of somewhere with better service. I will say that the host was very friendly and accommodating — if he was my only impression of the staff this place would get five stars.

My previous review has yet to change much. After 3 years of going to Square One casually, not much has changed, except the crowd got larger. The food is standard bar/American food, and pretty decent but moderately overpriced. The chicken cobb salad is good, as are the majority of appetizers and the burgers. The bar has an alright selection of beer, better than standard bars, but it won’t scratch the itch of super craft beer snobs. Lagunitas Little Sumptin’ Sumptin’ on bottle is a favorite. Foursquare marks Square One as a cocktail bar but I wouldn’t go so far to mark it as that, even though they have a pretty good martini menu. The crowd consists mainly of WestConn kids during the school year and a general younger(or wants to be younger) crowd year round. Having a quiet dinner here on a bar night may not be in your cards. Onto the service. I haven’t experienced wait staff recently to comment, as I’m more likely to sit at the bar and eat or grab drinks later at night. I posted a tip in March after having consistently bad service. Lack of attention, and general rudeness. In the tip I mentioned favoritism for regulars, which I get, who happen to be «bros». There had been a night where a friend and I waited for a drink on a not crowded night for 15 minutes before bailing. Not worth it for the horrible company. I received a lovely defensive message from a bartender a few nights ago which spurred me to update my review. Apparently, this is a common occurrence for this joint as someone on Unilocal messaged me asking if I had gotten a nasty message regarding my tip. Sure enough 30 days later, I get the message I posted a photo of on this page, which said: «Work one day in a bartenders shoes during an extremely busy night and you would change ur mood minds! Everyone is throwing drink orders at you and you have o remember every order off the top of your head! I wouldn’t say they have an attitude but maybe focused not mess up! It take one or so screw up all your orders!» I understand nights can be busy, but a consistently bad attitude and this demonstration of unprofessionalism is a little much. And yes, Andrea K., I’ve worked in food service for years, I get how uninspiring it can be. That being said, it still gets 3 stars but probably no more of my patronage. Bye.

Square one located on Mill Plain road has been my go to spot for sports, casual dining, and casual bar engagements. The trained friendly staff, drink selection and price make the experience welcoming. Normal bar food you will find but with a square one twist. I personally like the burger selection. No one does it better than square one in Danbury for a sports bar. It can get crowded at the bar some nights, however, its reputation for the go-to-spot says it all.

I didn’t have high hopes for this place, figured it was just another bar and grill. Went in with a party of 6 which they had no problem accommodating. All of the staff was really nice. Decent amount of parking but tight lot. They have KCCO beer on tap which was a big plus we were not expecting. Appetizer nachos, soups, salads and wraps were all good. Only complaint is when you are sitting in their couches at the table you feel like you are sitting on the ground. Get some real chairs with nice cushions. I will def be back to try some more food. Hopefully they have some good specials this summer.

Went there for dinner/drinks on Saturday night. It was of course snowing that night but there was still a small group. The food was great! We all got burgers and they were great! The meat tastes fresh and there were so many options. My friend did get her burger more rare than she wanted but the waitress was nice about it and took it back and they gave her a new burger. Talk about waitress, she was great! She was very attentive and we were constantly checked on. I definitely recommend this place if your looking to grab some light dinner and drinks.

Stopped in last minute on a Saturday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised by the service and food. Good size glass of wine(finally felt like I was getting my full $ 9!). Attractive brunch menu, decent selection on their regular menu. Even better was that it is kid friendly, but not overrun with kids. My husband was happy with the tvs at every angle and the good Bloody Mary’s:) A good place for all-American food, good drinks and tv/sports.

First off I feel like most of the poor reviews stem from the fact that at night, and especially on the weekends this place turns into a BAR rather than a restaurant, sort of the spillover of the Molly Darcy’s crowd. Late night their concern is not with serving you food, sorry to say. However I enjoy coming here… though not as much as my parents who come every Saturday night at 6:30. They are obsessed with waitress Shakira and always ask me if I think she looks like the real Shakira. The food is good, an elevated bar menu. Nothing revolutionary here, but I enjoy their burgers, the meat tastes better than most places in the area. Ordered a seared ahi tuna burger once and regretted it, a nice idea but was served up with some sad baby spinach leaves and not enough wasabi mayo or any other condiments to make it tasty. Stick to the burgers and you’ll be good.

Let me just say, I wasn’t even inside of Square One yet and realized how much of nightmare their parking lot was. Granted, it was a Saturday night, so I kind of half-expected it to be busy with the night crowd, but it was pretty horrible to find a spot. Once inside, Square One was pretty roomy for a bar, a lot better than some of the other bars in the Danbury area, so that was a plus in my book. Yes there were a lot of people inside and yes it was cramped because of it, but it’s a bar, it’s supposed to be like that, not a problem on my end. Their beer selection, both bottle and on tap, was pretty impressive. A lot of previous reviewers spoke about how great their bar food is and I kind of wish I got a chance to try it, but I wasn’t very hungry after coming from Bambu. Maybe next time I pop in I’ll try a few appetizers with a drink. Other than that, it was just an alright experience. I still think there are better places to grab a drink in the area, but I’m not shutting Square One out, it’s still pretty decent.

Came for karaōke on a Tuesday night & had the fried pickles. Those pickles aren’t Brother Jimmy’s quality but for CT, they’re not bad & grow on you after a couple(at least they did grow on me). Just so you know, karaōke here is great. They have a very good book, including a song I had never seen at any karaōke place I’d ever been to in my over 10 years of going in various places on the East Coast. The DJ was also awesome & sang an Outkast song I love. It seems to get popping later in the night but the experience was fun. I don’t drink but from the folks I saw, I imagine the drinks weren’t too bad since I heard no complaints about them. If time worked out, I’d come back.

So the food here is great, Thursdays happy hour from 9Pm M– midnight is awesome, and the beer and cocktail selection is excellent. So then why just three stars? Here’s why– I ordered a well done Uncle Ben burger. Got my burger, completely pink in the middle with juicy blood oozing through fresh clumps of beef. Furthermore, the bartenders at night need some customer service training. If you go here for a late night drink and burger, don’t come with your library voice. That’s right, you’re going to have to yell across the bar top at the closest bar tender floating by. Otherwise, good experience. So check it out and determine for yourself if your experience is similar to mine. Oh, and by the way, this is the second time in a year the service has been this way.
