Very kind and warm atmosphere. The owner was working which I imagine she does regularly… she came over with samples of a lot food, I ended up ordering one of everything(almost) …everything was great, tasty, and satisfying. Awesome stop for Danbury!!!

What a great find! Gyros, spinach pie, burgers and grilled subs. I had the special today. Buffalo Gyro! Wow! My son had the Greek Burger with feta cheese and fried. Top choice!

I usually don’t like to give negative reviews however this place is ridiculously expensive for the LACK of Quality, QUANITY and service they provide. When you pay the prices they charge… The Gyro should be FILLED with meat, and the food shouldn’t be tasteless. Passing on this place… For good.

Went to Nikos once after hearing great things. As a picky eater I must say I enjoyed every minute of my experience. Already I have stopped by three times since my last visit ordering a new choice each time. From the Gyros, to the falafels, and salads this place is the best! Not to mention the yummy pita and humus! Awesome food, awesome service. And great décor to top it all off!

Really great food, and friendly staff. Their prices aren’t terrible, and you can tell it is authentic Greek cuisine! Their traditional gyro meat(lamb) and their stuffed grape leaves are the real deal; you won’t be sorry you came here.

Agave’s loss was Niko’s gain in this case. I had taken the train up from NYC for a few hours to meet my dad; we were doing some Christmas shopping for my mom at Best Buy. Before heading back to catch the next NYC-bound train in Brewster, we decided to get some lunch. We swung by the mall, hoping to find a good bite to eat. Agave came up on my Unilocal app, and we decided Mexican sounded wonderful! It was 11:50 a.m.; Agave opened at 11:30, according to the app. We get to the front door, which had a glowing«OPEN» sign and a sign on the door stating that it actually opened on 10:30 on Mondays. Even better! I excitedly pulled on the door… and it was locked! We looked inside of the windows. The lights were on. People were in the back. The«OPEN» sign was still glowing. Suddenly, Greek sounded much more appealing than Mexican as our eyes glanced across the small shopping plaza. We entered this very lovely and homey sit-down Greek spot and received service immediately. I’m a big Chicken Souvlaki gal, so I got that and some chips; my father followed suit, never having tried Chicken Souvlaki. You can sit down wherever, and the food is brought to you. When my dad got up to get some more napkins after realizing how sloppy tzatziki sauce can be, the friendly gentleman behind the counter(who I like to assume is Niko himself), walked over and gave my dad the whole entire napkin dispenser from another table; he told us to keep it because it looked like my dad would need it. Ha! The Chicken Souvlaki was tender, loaded with vegetables, and was almost drowning in a wonderfully sloppy portion of tzatziki. HEAVENLY. Man, I wish I could have stayed for longer and even some more, but that 1:17 p.m. train back to NYC was calling my name. Niko’s is a solid spot for a great lunch. Should I ever end back up in Danbury anytime soon, I’d swing in in a heartbeat.

want to like this place, I really do. The menu is everything I love in casual food and more. Subs, gyros, wraps, salads, its all good. Service is friendly, kitchen and table delivery is totally chaotic. «is this what you ordered?» up and down the aisle until they guess right. But, it’s a sub shop and it’s freaking expensive. $ 10 — 11 sandwiches, no fries, no chips. 16oz soda(small is only size) is $ 2. Self serve refill is 50c! Am I supposed to stop at the register and pay? Is there tax on top of that? Food isn’t bad and business is brisk, but while it’s a simple shop that looks value oriented, taking a family of four there… go enjoy BWW instead, just across Backus.

The food was excellent! We ordered pita and hummus to start. The warm pita was great, but the hummus was nothing special. Then we got the village salad with gyro meat, a gyro, and the kids hot dog meal. The village salad was excellent, and there was plenty of vegetables, meat, and feta. I got tzatziki instead of dressing to dip everything in, which was a great choice. The only disappointing thing on the platter was the grape leaves. All other grape leaves I’ve had have always had a hint of lemon to give them a little zip. The flavor of the rice in the leaves was pretty flat. The gyro was great, no complaints. The kids meal was a kids meal! We all shared a «large“Greek fries. You can see in the picture that there is nothing large about them. In any other restaurant that would have been a small. That said, they were delicious. But for $ 5(prices on website are not up to date), we probably won’t get them next time. Overall, the food was great. Although it’s a little overpriced… $ 45 for lunch for 2 adults and a child was a bit much, we will be back because we truly enjoyed the food.

First time trying this place and loved the food. However the service was disappointing. We were asked if we wanted to sit for lunch we said yes and were given menus. After we sat no one came to the table and we ended up going up to the counter to order. We than ordered and told them we wanted to eat in. When our food was done they packed it up to go. Then because we were sharing we went to the counter and asked to have the sandwich cut in half and the guy gave us a nasty look and was rude like it was such an inconvenience. I guess I would go again but take out only.

I love this place — Nikos reminds me of home — Astoria Queens, aka Greekville. We moved up to Danbury last year & my culinary experiences up here are 50⁄50. Nikos is is the 100% awesome category. I had some local Greek food at a place that will remain nameless… travesty. Then we found this place — thank you Unilocalers. Their souvlaki & gyros are on point, stuffed grape leaves are good, pita is always fresh and delicious & fries are yummy too. My experiences w/the service is always excellent — helpful, patient and very nice. To those who whine about the portions — seriously?! The portions are moderate not excessive — but always filling. How spoiled are you?! find an unlimited buffet.

Absolutely loved it! I had a beef and lamb gyro with chipotle. So good that we will definitely be going back. The man at the cash register was also very nice and let us taste the pork which is what I plan on ordering next time.

Great lunch option for sit down or take out and also good if you’re just looking for an iced coffee(I’ll always opt for a non-chain coffee when I can). Food is always fresh, cooked right and tasty. And when I sat down for lunch with my 2 year-old, the waitress was really friendly to her, and a fellow wee diner offered her one of his cookies(not exactly attributable to the restaurant, but it was too cute not to mention).

My sister and I were visiting our parents this weekend for my sister’s final dress fitting at David’s Bridal, and between the four of us, we made three separate trips to Nikos. First me, for ice coffee– then my dad, also for ice coffee… it was good! Hit the spot in a pinch. We had some time to kill before my sister’s fitting, so we went to the Christmas Tree Shop. On our way out, one of the Nikos employees was holding a tray of meat samples… my sister and I both tried the chicken dipped in tzatziki sauce… and immediately decided gyros were for lunch! We were NOT let down. Everything was delicious. My mom ordered a spicy burger and said it was one of the best she’s had in a long time. My dad, sis and I all got the chicken gyros with extra feta. They had fries and I had onion rings… the portion size was on point, and the batter that they fried their onion rings and fries in was delicious– you could tell the oil was fresh and well seasoned. They even have their fountain sodas down to a science– the soda/syrup ratio was PERFECT. Our waitress– a young woman– was very nice and attentive. Food came out quickly. My parents asked me to write this review– they will be back! And, next time my sister and I are in town from Boston, we’ll also stop by! What an unexpected treat. Keep up the good work! :)

My first experience here was with the fried pita chips with tzatziki(or however you spell it) sauce. The pita chips come out piping hot and the sauce is marvelous. Next time it was a souvlaki. Just freakin’ delish. Just to try it, I had some of their homemade hummus. No doubt that it was home made but to me it lacked the flavor I was expecting from home made hummus. All in all, I will definitely be back before I depart Danbury for greener pastures.

their«large» fry looks like it should be called«ex small» & their wedges should be toasted so the bread isnt falling apart & the cheese is supposed to be melty.

Quick, efficient, and delicious Greek food at your service. Nikos has been open for about two years(I believe, don’t quote me on that) and even though I’ve only had my chance to eat there a few times, I’ve never had a bad meal. Usually when I’m picking out a book at Barnes and Noble next door I’ll stop by to pick lunch up, otherwise I’m never usually interested in driving through that parking lot, HUGE nightmare. Nikos has everything you’d expect from a Greek restaurant and even includes some other American favorites like burgers and subs. They usually have a daily special listed outside or inside to your right and for the most part, that’s what I normally flock to. However, the last time I ordered take-out, I opted with the lamb souvlaki. The flavors and textures of the pita sandwich were perfect, I just wish there were more of it. I still felt hungry afterwards and at $ 10, you’d expect to be somewhat satisfied with the meal, right? Maybe I had an off day where I was hungrier than usual *shrugs*. Aside from that, the service at Nikos is impeccable. The manager is always out front helping with the orders, cleaning tables, and conversing with the customers. Not to mention, he’s just a really nice guy. Huge plus in my book. I’ll definitely be back for more food at Nikos next time I’m in the area.

I always call my order in ahead of time. Otherwise I would be waiting twenty minutes since it’s always packed during my lunch break. Sometimes the order is wrong or missing items completely when I call ahead– always check while you’re there. Owner and staff are decent and helpful
