This place is so great. I had a burger, no kidding, that had an egg french fries and cheese. The pattie was moist and delicious. The bun fresh and the fries delicious. The root beer was also good but when I went for my 3rd glass i notice a sign that stated that there was caffeine in it so I was bummed, because i don’t need caffeine. The line never stopped. the patrons were all great and the place turned table after table. The«good food» business model seems to be working for them. The price was in line for a good meal. Thanks TR!!!

Well, you can’t have just one. And so after the last tasty sandwich and beverage, I wandered down the street to Twisted Root and only learned much later that this was a «DDD» location. I can see why he would have stopped by. It’s a little hipster, a little yuppie and a lot dive bar. And they serve great burgers. So there’s a line that runs from the register to the door, turning a corner and going halfway back. But there are open seats at the bar. And when I asked if I could also order a burger at the bar, I was set. So there’s your tip from Bruce — sit at the bar because you’re going to get a beer anyway, right? While sipping away at my draft, I studied the menu and opted for the«Enough Said» which is a burger topped with cheddar and peppercorn ranch dressing. And POTATOCHIPS. Hell, yes. I just had beef, but they also do «exotic» meats including buffalo and elk and I think I saw ostrich on the menu. Second tip: With the Enough Said, you don’t need fries. Trust me on this. Unfortunately, the bartender, who was busy hitting on a pretty blonde three stools down from me, thought I needed fries too. Don’t get me wrong. The fries are good. But when you’ve already got chips ON your burger, you don’t need the fries too. Third tip: They will cook all burgers to «medium-well» unless you ask. I prefer«medium rare.» Yes, they have a silly gag for your order number. You’ll get a slip of paper with a celebrity on it. That’s you. And so today, my order was called out as «Richard Pryor.»

We ate here because of Drive-Ins, Diners & Dives. It was worth it. The place was packed and the food was great. Lots of humor, especially if you are a fan of Chuck Norris. You have to go there to understand. Bananas Foster shake was really tasty according to my son the expert.

While I’ve been to other locations, this was my first time at the original. Came with three work friends for lunch. I had the bacon burger with fries and a banana pudding shake. Along with their awesome dill pickle slices from the pickle bar I was happy and stuffed when I left. Super nice staff from the cashier that offered me a water cup when I just ordered the shake originally, the food prep guy and the guy walking around clearing your table for you. Sometimes at places that have good food and a name for themselves they tend to have not so great service(ahem… Serious Pizza) because they don’t need you or care if you come back. Not the case here. Great staff, fun atmosphere and great food! Will be back!

Food was great, and the staff was wonderful! I came on a Sunday so parking wasn’t bad, and it wasn’t too crowded. I had the turkey burger with a deep ellum ipa. I will definitely be back!

They can get busy at lunch time, but the line does move quick and there’s plenty of seating inside and outside. The restaurant has a «garage» look and feel to it, rustic and unrefined, but the service is spot on, friendly and the menu is incredible. The flavor and cook of the burgers is outstanding! They have done some really cool things, like giving you a name instead of asking for your name to call when your order is ready. Naming their Ice Tea after a pic of Ice-T and giving you all the pickles you can eat, of varying flavors. Bottom line — Eat Here! When in Downtown Dallas, they’re only ½ mile away and well worth the walk or Über. So, go there!

I don’t have a Burger chart but this is definitely among the best burgers I’ve had. I got the special of the day Buffalo vision. The 1st Burger I’ve had with peanut butter and bacon. The range is from $ 8 – 12 but you get what you pay for. There’s a small strip where you can bounce from store to store but pay for parking. I was johny Carson.

While pricey, this place was well-worth the experience. The burgers were not the best I’ve ever had, but they were pretty incredible, and the menu offers some crazy kinds of meat in the rotation — beaver, kangaroo, and ostrich, among others, in addition to the typical beef and bison. One of the things I loved about Twisted Root was the attention to detail. Basically everything is made in-house, from the ranch dressing to the ancho-chipotle ketchup and coconut root beer. Also got a birthday cake shake that literally had a slice of birthday cake in it. And the portion sizes are massive, which takes the edge off the expense to a degree. I think my husband and I could probably share a burger, fries, and shake easily. Next time I’m in Dallas, I’ll for sure be back.

This place is so fantastic, it should be illegal! Watched an episode on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives in which Twisted Root was featured. I had to stop in and see what they had to offer… The menu had so many options, I didn’t know what to try. Ended up getting a burger topped with bacon, which I added egg to. This damn burger was so good I didn’t even have time to take a picture for my foodies! Hahaha! Give it a try and leave happy and with a full belly!

This place was hard to find with our gps walking directions from the Hyatt reunion tower but we made it. Anyhow the veggie burger and the fried pickles were both delicious! My husband really liked his burger and root beer too. I feel in love with the watermelon iced tea! I wish they would open one of these in Vegas. I think they would do well here. Staff was very friendly and kind.

I’m such a fan and I would return here to fill my arteries with cholesterol any time I’m in the Dallas area. For starters, we were here during a busy Dallas WEekend(WrestleMania) so I don’t know if the ridiculously long line(about a half hour wait on line) was typical, but that’s how long we waited. We finally got to the front, I ordered a build your own burger with cheddar cheese, bacon, and avocado. My husband had the freshman 15 — smashed fries, cheddar cheese, fried egg and bacon. These burgers were phenomenal. Juicy. Well seasoned. Tasty. Filling. They have bar towards the right back where my husband got us beers while we waited to be called when our meals were ready. Which, by the way, pay attention to what they’re saying. They assign you a name, i.e. Miley Cirus, Dave Chappelle, etc, soooo pay attention because it’s easy to not hear what they said. Enjoy.

This place is pretty good! While my burger wasn’t the best I’ve ever had it was good! They also have a bunch of exotic meats to choose from. I wanted to try them all! The milkshakes sounded absolutely amazing but unfortunately I was too full to have one. The french fries are perfectly crispy and there are 3 sauces at the tables to use for dipping: chipotle ketchup, spicy mustard and secret BBQ. I honestly am not a fan of BBQ sauce but theirs was to die for! Definitely a neat place to try out– the atmosphere is cool with good music and funny names they call when your order is ready. There is also a full bar as well as canned and a few draft beers.

It was good — had custom burger with bleu cheese, grilled onion, lettuce, tomato and fries. Generous amount of bleu cheese but only one small slice a tomato and one simple leaf of lettuce. I’d like a large slice for inside the burger and not a garnish. The fries were good but a bit on the salty side. The bun broke down rather fast but probably because of the grilled onions. Great BBQ sauce, outdoor was eating was fun and trendy.

On a Saturday afternoon, this place is PACKED. This place makes getting and eating a burger seem really fun. Yes, if you were bored with the process of making a burger and ordering a burger, have fun here! The creative little stickers plopped all over, added to all the cool names they give people’s orders, and you will surely feel as if the long line will fly by. There’s not a lot of wiggle room here so while someone from your party is ordering, at least one person needs to be the hawk in the room, monitoring who is standing up from their table. It’s that intense! We managed to snag a few seats at the bar so we didn’t have to try too hard. But when I say packed, it was packed. Wow. I made my own burger and added avocado and fried egg, along with all the traditional toppings. My oh my was that good. Very fresh and very tasty. I definitely have random cravings every once and awhile. The sweet potato fries were decent, but not memorable. The milkshake was gooood. The kind that you expect at one of these places. I think I just got the vanilla. Perhaps it’s not the roomiest or the cleanest place ever, but it’s worth a stop in here. Rarely do I see the staff have so much fun in a place like this. I guess when you’re calling out goofy names, like superhero characters and reality show stars, it’s kind of hard not to laugh and enjoy yourself. It makes the burger taste better too :)

FINALLY got around to trying this place. Was not disappointed. The manager took our order. I love the funny names they use to call out orders. Very quirky and fun atmosphere. Trip got the Spicy Goat which he loved. I got the Western, which had pepper jack cheese, fried onion strings and bacon. God it was good. They were good sized burgers, but not too big that you couldn’t finish them. We also got the Treat yo’ self fries which are loaded down with the standard cheese, bacon, jalapeños, etc. warning: they are«side size» but honestly were perfect to share for two. They were greasy and delicious just like they should be. Next step we are gonna try the fried pickles or the fried green beans(I heard the manager say that they were the best thing on the menu!) crazy! We loved our experience. Oh! And sit on the upstairs patio! Great view of downtown.

We took our out of town guests here while in the Downtown area. Seems like the line got long right after us, so we arrived right on time. The space is somewhat small and not brightly lit. Order your food and then you’re assigned a ‘famous’ person’s name(I was Catherine Zeta Jones). I’ve never been a big pickle fan, but I do enjoy nibbling on some that are offered at the counter while waiting(bread & butter are my fave). We all enjoyed our burgers, mine was cooked well done as requested. Fries were hot and fresh. Adult shake was tasty. I would recommend coming here, not bad at all.

I’ve been to Twisted Root several times throughout the years, so when it dawned on me that I never wrote a Unilocal review on it while I was there today I knew I had to do one right away. One of the main reasons that I haven’t written a Twisted Root review is because I take it for granted. It’s been a staple in Deep Ellum for many years, and now it’s spreading it’s wings to other parts of DFW as well. Well, no more taking it for granted, I’m about to show some love for one of the best burger spots in my area! The Vegabond is my go-to. It’s a vegan black bean burger with a nice kick of sriracha on top! Good stuff. The burger itself is cool. One of my problems with some black bean burgers is texture. Sometimes the texture can be too mushy, and this burger does run a little on the mushy side, but it makes up for that in other ways. They add a nice crunchy quinoa coating that adds texture. The slices of avocado adds a little more to the mushiness… but brings in great flavor, so I’ll deal with it. All in all, it’s a real good burger. if you haven’t tried it, go for it. A good tip: bypass the normal ketchup and mustard and go for the special chipotle ketchup and spicy horseradish mustard, it adds so much flavor and the mustard also adds a little kick! The service and atmosphere is top notch. It’s the very definition of Deep Ellum. Laid back, casual, and not pretentious at all. Just go in, order, grab a table and listen for the funny name that’s on the card given to you. Simple and to the point. Oh yeah, give the complimentary pickles a try too… good stuff!

After being good all week, I treated myself to a burger, and this spot seemed worth it to try out. The atmosphere had a western barn vibe to it that was neat, and then cashiers announce silly jokes from time to time. I got the Big Tex burger(medium rare– they will cook it medium well if you don’t specify), and loaded French fries. The burger was so huge and the meat was so juicy, I was afraid to put the burger down cause it might topple over. As for the French fries I was a little disappointed, they looked delicious, but the cheese wasn’t fully melted and clumpy; then to top it off the fries were way too salty to begin with.

This is a Texas chain with about 15 locations.(Disclaimer: yes, there is one in Louisiana,) and it is a little funky. Here is a quick breakdown: The staff seems to have a fun friendly attitude. The décor is eclectic and casual. Logistically it is an order at the counter and go pick up your food when it is ready. Menu wise… They have a bunch of signature pre-designed burger choices. They also have a build your own option. All burgers are cooked medium well unless you request otherwise. (Oh and salads,… I guess If you are into that kind of thing) Plus an array of fried side dishes. My experience. I kept it simple and honestly a little boring. I went with the BYO Burger option with a beef burger and a pretzel bun and bacon. Super simple. My pretzel bun was a little flakey and fell apart a little. Root beer float — they make their own root beer and our it over their own vanilla custard. I also got to try the fries which were good as well. I would come back here again if I am in the area. When I come back i have already started to compile the list of the other items I need to try which include: fried pickles, Build Your own cheddar fries, perhaps try one of the game meats, fruit loop adult shake… The list goes on and on.

I love a good off day and especially when it’s on a Monday. It was a beautiful sunny day and I wanted to eat lunch on someone’s patio. So we decided on Twisted Root. I’ve heard good things about this place. Everyone raves about it and I wanted to try it out. I always enjoy a good burger. So, I’m not really sure why I haven’t been here before. The atmosphere was pretty cool. They had little quirky signs all over the place. Your order name could be anywhere from Tina Turner or Lt. Dan you got no legs. :) We made our way through the line and I ordered the Hawaiian on a pretzel bun and my boyfriend had the Big Tex. Also, If you love pickles they have a variety that you can choose from. So go ahead and fill up those condiments cups to your heart content. It took about 10min for our order to be called. I immediately went for the French fries. They were very tasty. Next, was my Hawaiian burger. Oh my goodness. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The mix of sweet and salty was awesome flavor explosion. I don’t know this could be a favorite. Instead of getting desserts we got the Caramel Apple Shake and the Watermelon Sweet Tea. I mean it has enough sugar content to give you that dessert feel. :) I would say pass on the Watermelon Sweet Tea. It’s not all that sweet and the watermelon flavor does you no favors. The Caramel Apple Shake was very good. You could taste all of the flavors. You may want to tell them to go on easy on the whip cream. I will definitely be returning to Twisted Root.

I’ve been to Twisted Root in Dallas a few times, and every time I come in excited and leave fully satisfied. You can’t get much better than an awesome sporty/hipster/outdoor venue with solid burgers and fries. I don’t have much more to say than that I highly recommend coming here if you’re visiting Dallas from out of town! While the burgers aren’t what I’d call the absolute best in the world, they are consistently delicious and the vibe of the place is unbeatable. My favorite and top recommendation is the Ranch Hand burger — with American cheese instead of Swiss! *Also my dad noted that he is very pleased by their $ 2 Lone Star draft deal — high quality beer at a low cost, apparently lol
