Had a great experience here. They offer a gluten free menu, our waiter was very knowledgeable, it would be nice if they offered GF bread alternatives, but oh well. I ended up ordering the stroganoff with mashed potatoes instead of noodles, it was delicious. I also enjoyed their Pim’s cup and blood orange margarita, very fresh drinks and not loaded with sugary mixes.

Has a great time! A nice sunny January day helped, but had the mussels for an appetizer which was awesome. Sat on the patio and the weather was perfect. The patio is cozy but would be better if it were about another 20 – 30 feet from the road. The cars passing by feels like they’re right on top of you. We both had the Dogd Burger. Very nice burgers w fried egg. Nice soft roll. Had to finish then w a fork and knife which is fine by me. Great wait and host staff. Will definitely come back. I haven’t been to this part of Dallas I. Quite some time but I think I need to come down here more

Looking at recent reviews, I’m inclined to agree with the ratings. I’ve been here many times and has always been impressed with food and service offered by The Porch(rated on top 100 D-Magazine restaurants). Recently, however, I’ve been sad to say that service has been declining and either my taste buds are changing, or the food quality is. I’ll discuss my last two visits: 1) Came in on a date and ordered the usual goodies. I noticed that the server was in a boot/cast on the leg and knew that service was going to be declined, but her coworkers should help run food and check the tables, right? After all, I am also in the service industry and will help a coworker when they’re not at 100%. We only saw our server 2 – 3 times that entire night [greeting, food order, checkout]. She did not bother to ask if we are doing okay, no water refills, nothing. We ordered the well-sought Mac & Cheese. Myy date did not eat ham, but we still ordered the Mac & Cheese without ham, BUT it was delivered with ham. Luckily, they were able to return it and make a new batch for us without it. Okay service this evening, but sad to say my date didn’t have the top experience that I was expecting. 2) Came in on a date and ordered drinks. They asked us for IDs(which was a first for me, because I’ve never been ID’d when I orders, but it’s TABC law, so fine). We ordered G&T and Johnny Walker Black, only to find out 5 – 10 minutes later that they didn’t carry Black, so we waited for nothing? Server should be educated on what type of liquors their own restaurant carries. I mean, I go through wine & liquor training at my restaurant and I could tell the customers immediately if we didn’t carry a certain spirit or single malt scotch. C’est la vie. After ordering the Mac & Cheese(amongst other foods), trying to prove to my date that this was the best Mac & Cheese in the Dallas area, she quickly debunked to say that it tasted similar to Cheez-it White Cheddar. After shattering that expectation, my feelings for The Porch declined. The cherry on top of this experience was the dessert, the Gooey Butter Cake that I’ve been craving for so long. Unfortunately the piece of cake that we received was a corner piece of the pan was super dry around the edges, and not enough ice cream could make it better. Overall, I used to love the Porch, but alas I shall not return and look for different restaurants in the lower Greenville/Henderson-Knox area.

The Porch is located in Uptown Dallas. During my recent visit to Dallas, my coworkers and I celebrated the end of a two day meeting with a small get together at The Porch. The menu is pretty average but with a nice selection of everything from fish, salads to brisket. The meal started off with drinks… naturally! I ordered a traditional Moscow Mule, which was really good. It’s always hard to find people to make them the right way. We then started with spinach & Parmesan dip and tortilla chips, house smoked red pepper hummus feta & grilled flat bread. I almost got full off the apps. I order the house smoked brisket sliders as my meal with a side of Brussels sprouts, mac and cheese. I would highly recommend the briskets sliders. Of course I ordered dessert… Why not? The table shared a order of the bread pudding and Gooey Butter cake. It will make you dance in your seat. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. Defiantly give it a try.

Came in for Brunch! The environment is quite open. The waiter and hosts were very accommodating. Valet parking is free if you eat at the restaurant. The brunch menu is not as extensive as I would have hoped, it’s on the side on a blackboard. Had the Porch Chilaquiles which were Ok. However, recommend you to get: — The Smoked Ham Mac and Cheese — The Stodg Burger Conclusion, great place for lunch. However, if you are looking for brunch, I’d recommend somewhere else.

My Dad and I chose The Porch for my Mom’s surprise 50th birthday celebration because it seemed trendy, different, and upscale without being stuffy. I have nothing but great things to say about our experience. Shout out to Maleah for being incredibly flexible and helpful in coordinating a brunch for ~40 people while we were on vacation, and major props to the Porch staff for expertly managing food and drink for such a massive group. Everyone had a great time due to the phenomenal service and solid Southern-style cuisine. Maleah was nice enough to put together a customized brunch menu for our gathering, but all the items were pulled directly from their standard offerings. Our appetizers consisted of the Burrata & Toast, Spinach and Parmesan Dip, and Red Pepper Hummus. These were all simple, but savory, creamy, and quite filling. For my main course, I went with the Porch Chilaquiles, which is a traditional Mexican breakfast dish with pulled chicken, tortilla strips, a peppery sauce, and two sunny-side-up eggs. The medley was tasty but pretty standard… I still regret not going with the hearty Classic Cheeseburger, which I eyed jealously on most of my companions’ plates. Finally, the dessert spread here is divine, undoubtedly the best part of our meal. The Gooey Butter Cake w/Butterscotch Ice Cream and the Salted Caramel and Chocolate Bread Pudding are absolute must-haves and among the best sweet bites I’ve ever tried. Looking forward to dropping by next time I’m in town to check out some of their other stuff!

I never thought I’d be writing a review like this for The Porch, but one thing I can confirm is that tonight was my last night to ever go back there. I first came across The Porch many years ago, and ever since then, it’s been one of my favorite comfort food restaurants in Dallas and I’ve been a loyal customer, dining at the restaurant weekly and sometimes twice a week. As you can see by my many check-ins and Duchess title here, this review is coming straight from my heart. I love to share things I value with my family and friends, which is why I decided to come here tonight with my mom and friend, who I’ve brought many times before. My mom and I checked in at the front desk at 6:30pm on the dot and then met my friend at the bar for drinks while waiting to be seated. About 20 minutes later, we were seated. We ordered our entrees and once the food came, I couldn’t help but to see a worker walk back and forth staring at our table as if we were taking too long. Granted, I’m one to eat out a few nights a week, so I know a thing or two about good service and how to also be a good diner. I would never sit and waste time at a table without ordering food and drinks. We had food and we had drinks. Yet, the worker kept walking past our table making note of only our table, which caused me to tell my mom and friend what was happening because I knew they wanted us to leave. My friend had a hair in her food, so we wrapped up the meal and got our checks. By this point, I felt completely uncomfortable by the worker that continued to walk by our table checking to see if we were about to leave. I signed the check and 5 minutes later my cell showed 8:26pm. The worker comes over and asks us if we can leave and at least go to the bar because we were at the table for two hours and it was past our time. Here’s the many problems I have with this situation. Since when does a restaurant ask customers to leave the table right after finishing their meal? Why were we the only table singled out? Would the managers of The Porch not find it embarrassing and outright insulting for customers to be humiliated at a table with others looking on while being asked to leave? Lastly, we weren’t at our table for 2 hours, so I find it offensive for that accusation to be thrown at us aloud in front of other diners when clearly we were not even inside of the building for two hours. We got up to leave and I asked the worker for her name, which she provided as Chelsea. We left and my mom got emotional because she said she’d never been treated so low in her life, which I’d have to agree. We are paying customers, and frequent customers at that, so why would we be treated so badly? Which makes me wonder if it was due to the color of our skin because we definitely didn’t overstay our time at the table. As we’re walking out, Chelsea gets her manager to explain why we were asked to leave the table and that lady walked out, and brought a policeman with her. I guess this is the type of unfortunate incidents I see on the news with the way our society has gotten, but I never imagined to witness anything like it myself. Chelsea’s manager came out and I think she said her name was Jennifer(or maybe Christy), but there was so much going on that I can’t remember. All I could see was the police standing there and following us to valet as if we were about to cause harm. My mom burst into tears and I begged the manager to please walk away, yet she refused. I told her she was making the situation worse and all we wanted was to get our cars from valet so that we could leave and never come back. Well, the manager never left. She stayed right in front of us still trying to justify why they chose to have us leave the table and even with me begging her to walk away, she instead went on to tell me how her husband got a scholarship for some kind of African American program. I honestly couldn’t make this story up if I wanted to, but clearly there was a major problem and many people saw it. I have brought so many of my friends and family to this restaurant. I can even remember how my fiancé’s family came to Dallas for the first time to meet my family and I chose The Porch for us all to dine. Tonight was supposed to be another wonderful night with family, friends, and great food. It’s just too bad that our night was ruined and this experience will forever be sketched in our memories. I’ll never forget it and I’ll never understand why any establishment would ask nice, loyal customers to leave. I’ve always had a huge love for The Porch and all of my social media pages prove how much I rave about this restaurant, but tonight, all of that got crushed and not only are my feelings extremely hurt, but I’m disappointed that we were singled out to be mistreated in such a public scenery way. I wish they could have seen me as another paying customer instead of just the color of my skin. Goodbye and good riddance. Tonight was our last night to ever walk foot inside of there again.

One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Dallas! Yes, it’s pricey, but it is absolutely delicious. Here are my favorite items: Appetizer — side of smoked ham Mac n cheese: You MUST try this dish. It is heavenly– the best Mac n cheese you will have in your life. It’s super rich, so it’s best shared between 2 – 4 people. Entrees — fried chicken salad: ok, to be honest… this is the entrée I get every. single. time. I just can’t betray it’s deliciousness. I am not a honey mustard fan, but the dressing is to die for. The combination of the crunchy chicken, creamy tangy dressy, salty bacon, fresh tomatoes, and avocado is brilliant. I get the salad with no blue cheese, a personal preference. — stodg burger: my husband gets this quite often and, while extremely messy, it’s yummy! And the fries and perfect. — chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans: YUM. Husbands new favorite. I always have to reach across and steal potatoes. The gravy is the best!!! Dessert — gooey butter cake: with a name like that… you can’t go wrong. It’s served with a side of butterscotch ice cream. It’s rich and probably 1 million calories but I love getting this on special occasions. Drink — check the big board for seasonal beers! My best discovery was Southern Tier’s Pumking. Ever since I tried it at The Porch, I have bought it numerous times at whole foods. — the strawberry mint mixed drink(can’t remember exact name): expensive but expertly made. Only wish it was bigger :(I always suck it down before my meal comes out.

Someone please explain how every single thing on their menu tastes so good. The salads are extremely fresh, the soups are warm and rich, and the sandwiches are crazy big. Today I decided to part with my usual grill cheese n tomato soup combo and went with the spinach dip appetizer and a cup of chili. No regrets. Will be back again!

Wow! Each bite of the short rib stroganoff just got better and better. At this hour, The Porch was packed, which made the food come out slower than expected, but WORTHTHEWAIT. To think my friends would rather go to Blue Goose than here is ridiculous. Obviously they aren’t friends of mine anymore. If you come here, do the following: 1) Get the stroganoff 2) Make all your friends get out of their comfort zone and go to The(delicious) Porch. They will not regret it! 3) If they don’t, may be time to get some new friends 4) Ask for an Old Fashioned!

Pretty average place. I had the burger and it was pretty good, very messy though. The spinach and parmesan dip was awesome– we had it to start. Overall this place has a nice atmosphere, especially the patio area, but for the price, you can do better, especially in the Henderson-Knox area.

Ok, I’m still not big on the seating at this restaurant. The rows of booths remind me of Denny’s or something. But tonight I opted for a dinner instead of the usual gastropub sandwich or salad, and dinner is where The Porch s-h-i-n-e-s! My salmon(with its accompaniments) was the most innovative, successful marriage of flavors, both contrasting and concomitant, that I’ve ever had. And it was cooked JUST the right amount. Our server was great; not memorable for the good or the bad – purely utilitarian, as a server should be. Pleasant without being a distraction. The gooey butter cake is still unbelievable. Tonight the Porch left me speechless. Except for an occasional mid-chew moan. Go ahead and order a full dinner, and leave happy. :)

We arrived around 330pm. Pretty much before the«after work» crowd started descending on Lower Greenville. Hardly any patrons were in the building yet, the service was slow. No hostess was there to greet us. We stood around for a good 5 minutes until I took it upon myself to seat us. When the waiter came by, my husband and dad order their drinks– I was still looking. He dropped off the 2 drinks in a hurry and I didn’t see him for roughly 15 minutes in which I finally ordered my drink and an appetizer. Started with the Pimento Cheese. Lovely presentation. The garlic baguette was litley buttered and semi soft. The pimento cheese was creamy and had the perfect spicy kick to it. The ham was smoked and shaved perfectly. And the arugula salad– a bit salty, but total yum! Combining all these ingredients together was like heaven! So good! Crab cake salad for the main course. Not enough mixed greens for my liking. Too much of the tomato, cucumber, avocado side salad(if that makes sense lol). I thought I was going to get a full on salad. It’s ok though, but the crab cake was delish! Not dry like I’ve had at other places. The lemon vinaigrette went perfectly with the entire dish. I will definitely drop back in for some appeteezers/another entrée. and to try one of their cocktails(in which I didn’t get to try this go around, but they sounded amazing!) Not to mention, the desserts sounded scrumptious! That too will be for next time! Cute, comfy, dim lighting ambience. Perfect for any sort of occasion!

Came here on Sunday and it wasn’t as packed as I thought which was a good thing. Parking was tough to find. They have valet available but we didn’t have cash so we found free parking across the street. In terms of the food, it was great. I ordered the chicken Cobb salad and my boyfriend ordered the porch BGE(Biscuits gravy egg) and finished off with the butter cake. Fried chicken Cobb salad– 4 stars. The chicken pieces were tender and portions were very generous. The dressing is good and everything on it was fresh. BGE– my boyfriend loved it. He said it’s the best he’s had. Honestly for me, it was a bit too heavy. All in all it was good Buttercake– 3 stars. It was too butterscotch-y for me

I am NOT a salad girl, but I got one here and loved it. Probably because it defeats the purpose of even having a salad, but the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Cobb salad was so good. They don’t skimp on the chicken and it was really filling(again, not a skinny salad). My sister got the Scottish Salmon Burger. It had a vinaigrette and a dill aioli on it, along with avocado and pickles. Everything was really fresh and it didn’t taste fishy. The onion rings are huge, and there is truly no way to eat them gracefully, but they are worth it. Their covered patio is a nice spot for lunch.

9÷27÷15. Brunch This is the place to do brunch right in Dallas. Nice cool ambiance serving gastropub style food. I always stop by when I’m in town. It was very busy on Sunday but luckily, we were seated in a booth right away around 1 pm. They were serving lunch but the large special board had a variety of brunch offerings. Brunch cocktails(Bloody Mary, mimosa, Moscow Mule) were all $ 5 each. How could I pass on that great offer? *Pancakes($ 11) a short stack with this cream cheese butter on top with fruits are what we shared. It doesn’t disappoint to say the least. *Hot Roast Beef Sandwich($ 14) is one hot tasty affair with gruyère, caramelized onion and horseradish on a toasted French roll. Onion rings are the size of a donut! *Fried Chicken Steak($ 14) are served with two over easy eggs. Gravy is good and not too thick. Chicken steak is tender. *Chilaquiles($ 13) is a bit too over cooked for my preference. The chicken is a bit dry. But the red sauce is good. Moscow Mule was aptly served in a copper cup and was refreshing. Service was enough but could have been more attentive. But they were slammed. Overall it’s a pretty good meal and I’ll continue to come when I’m in Dallas.

Came here for a nice hearty dinner Saturday night. I came out feeling… full. based on Unilocal reviews I decided to take my friend here and give this place a try. Bring some cash to tip the valet driver, and expect to eat in a dimly lit restaurant. Upon coming here, it definitely gave me that Southern restaurant type of feel with the ambience. It was just normal. I ordered the Stodg Burger with caramelized onions(instead of bacon) with a side of Onion Rings. The Stodg definitely did not disappoint and presentation wise I love it. However, nothing made me go «WOW» about the whole experience. However, the onion rings gave me a little wink because they had parmesan on them, which gave them an interesting taste to them. The establishment just seems like another restaurant that has good quality food. Lastly, this place seemed more American than Southern. Well, it still has pretty good food anyway.

I’m a little disappointed in the lack of appetizer choices for this place. None of them really appealed to me so I ordered the classic cheeseburger with sea salt fries. Burger was pretty great and so were fries. My friend got the short rib stroganoff and absolutely loved it. I love the cocktails here though. The strawberry crush is hands down my favorite and is quite strong with the perfect amount of freshness.
