Great place for drinks! We had great service and the beer menu is very extensive not to mention delicious. We loved their covered patio upstairs and we’ll be back once it gets warmer for the backyard space they have.

Really cool bar hidden on a side street in uptown! Please note to any hard alcohol drinkers– this may not be the place for you-as it only carries beer and cider. I loved sitting outside at their great wood tables enjoying the lights on the porch– and the service was great too. Very reasonable pricing. In the middle of the week I have found it to be very quiet but really hoppin on a weekend. There is a small private lot on the side– which has great parking if you get there early– or late enough. I have many times picked my fiancé up at the end of the night and was able to find ample parking. Cool atmosphere, absolutely worth a try!

Cool, laid back staff; awesome converted house; and Lindemans Framboise on draft(peche is in the bottle)??? HECKYEAH! This place is great because everyone can get a beer that is hard to find and since there is such a variety, everyone is happy! What more can you ask for. I have never had the food, but the pictures on here tempt me to try it next time!

In Dallas recently and stopped in here for a pint. I have been to the Ginger Man in Austin a few times and they seem to always have a fairly good list of beers on draft. This Ginger Man was no exception. I went with the Kasteel Quad Chocolate Stout and it did not disappoint. This location seems a bit bigger than the one in Austin. Both have a good dim, worn pub atmosphere. The bartender who served me was real nice and I’d pop in here again when in the area.

I was in Dallas hanging out with some youths in uptown on a weekend, and found this relaxed, non-pretentious hangout in the middle of the chaos of Uptown Dallas. Ginger Man has a pub-like environment with friendly service and relaxed atmosphere. It’s located in a multi-story house with awesome patios in front and back. The tap selection is excellent and they served ice cream floats with either regular root beer or not your father’s(alcoholic) root beer, which was perfect for a warm evening. I can see this being one of my favorite places to hang out if I lived here.

Awesome bar in the uptown neighborhood. The beer selection is huge and very eclectic. The bartender was awesome and the bar itself has a great feel. I would highly recommend hanging out at the Ginger Man.

Great beer. You can smoke cigars on the deck/patio. Cigars are overpriced but is normal considering it bring a bar. Tap selection is undeniable one of the best. Establishment has upstairs and downstairs. I come 2 – 4 times a year. If I was a beer fan it would be more often.

It’s nice to know that even in the heart of Uptown there are chill places like Ginger Man to escape the usual chaos, especially on the weekend. This is probably one of the few places in the area where you can carry audible conversations without screaming over loud music or other’s voices. I was surprised by how big the place is. It looks small from the front of the outside, but there’s actually a lot of seating available, indoor and outdoor, upstairs and downstairs! They have a huge variety of beers. Even though I’m not a huge fan myself, they have a pretty good selection of ciders too! And prices are very reasonable. Would definitely recommend this place if you want to catch up with friends and chillax after a long day.

My friends and I are really into Trivia night and I read online this place was a good spot on Tuesday. Well first off, trivia is outside with 90 degree weather and bugs everywhere. Everyone seemed to be cheating and the 2nd round was nearly inaudible. Not my favorite place by far, but while during trivia we did manage to order food from the busy wait staff. The menu selection is very limited with small things to eat that are shareable. I got the spinach and artichoke flatbread pizza and my boyfriend got the chicken cranberry sandwich. The flatbread was just ordinary pizza, but the sandwich was delicious! So to wrap it up: Trivia night= no Chill pub with a chicken sandwich=yes

Four out of five redheads agree, The Ginger Man is a paradise in Uptown. The beer selection is extremely diverse. This is a nice place to branch out when you want to experiment with new types of beer. Prices are very reasonable for the atmosphere and variety of choices. There are a few flight options available, but I do have to ding them for not offering more flexibility. Keep this place in mind when you want to visit a bar in the Uptown area that is relaxed and not too loud. This is a nice spot for good conversation over good beer.

I absolutely love this place. It is exactly the kind of setting I like to come and have a few drinks with friends and coworkers. Very relaxed setting and music by local bands. You can sit in the front porch inside or in the back and a very shaded area. Service is fantastic. Next time I am near downtown Dallas, I will definitely be coming back. Great selection of local craft beers, as well as amazing selection of Belgian beers. They had one of my favorite beers from Austin Texas, I could not ask for anything better.

When I first moved to Dallas after graduating college, still green and a little wet behind the ears, my beer education had consisted of Miller High Life, Fosters, and an occasional PBR. But I stumbled upon Ginger Man early on, and they learnt me some beer pretty good. I burned out and branched out and stopped coming as much, but everytime I do come back I remember how much I like it. Now that so many breweries and beer-centric bars have taken off in Dallas, it doesn’t hold as much of a corner on the market as before. It does still have one of the more sizeable beer lists, though, and it has its environment going for it. There really isn’t a bar in Uptown that’s as well lit and facilitative of yell-free conversation. Beyond being an oasis from the boisterosity of Uptown when going«out» on a weekend, it also has trivia and«keep the pint» night, live music nights, or even just an upstairs cozy couch just to relax with your beer on a Wednesday night. If you don’t drink beer… Sorry.

This place is a great neighborhood spot where you feel like a local. Sit on the porch and people watch and order a sandwich– you won’t regret it! The service isn’t great but I will still be back! I recommend the turkey sandwich :-)

Found this gem courtesy of our Lyft driver. Hubby and I were looking for a mellow place for late night drinks and this was the ticket. The bars we passed on McKinney were all packed and the average patron age was about 21. Dressed to impress, tottering on high heels and giggling their way down the street, this was the crowd we wished to avoid! Situated off the main drag, this bar is in a house… smoking on the front patio section, non-smoking inside. A billion beers from which to choose, and only wine as an alternative. No full bar. We had a few beers and started noticing the amazing, constantly in motion doorman, KB! He was checking IDs, welcoming people, keeping his eye on their parking lot(people would park there, then go to another place) so his guests had plenty of parking spots. He was cleaning tables, checking on people and overall just doing an amazing job! He recommended Rocco’s pizza for late night take-out and it was pretty good. The place was busy until about 1:30am and we didn’t see any typical leaving a bar, drunk shenanigans! Thanks to KB for really making this a great place to unwind and have a chill night drinking beer and chatting with my date(aka my husband)!

This was my first time at The Ginger Man and unfortunately I did not have a lovely experience. My mother and I had dinner up the street and thought we’d stop in for quick drink and look around. Letme start off by saying the location and atmosphere is great. I love old houe style bars and restaurants, especially ones with open seating inside and outside. It wasn’t cluttered, dirty or loud like other bars in the area. We headed to the jukebox to check out the music selection which was very eclectic — nice! Since the rain finally stopped, we decided to sit outside on the top balcony. There we were — pleasant conversation, nice music, and a cool breeze. I was enjoying myself and ready for a drink. After studying the menu for a few minutes; I was ready to order. I looked around and no one in site. Thats fine, we were the only ones up top so they probably didnt know we were there. About 20 minutes later, a guy came outside, looked at us, looked at the tv, then turned and walked away. Ok… I didn’t see anything on him that indicated he was a server, plus he didnt ask if we needed help, so I assumed he was another customer. Another 30 minutes went by and I seriously began to wonder if service was closed upstairs. I saw a female server downstairs taaking orders and delivering drinks and I tried to get her attention but we went unnoticed. No biggie, we were enjoying ourselves, talking, playing games and listening to the music. We stayed for about an hour and a half before deciding to head out, I didnt need a drink that bad anyway. So we walk downstairs and I see that same guy behind the bar. Cleary he does work there. My mother was looking for the trash to throw out a napkin and I pointed towards the bar. She walks over and the female server from earlier gave her the«what the f… do you need look.» I told my mom you should have asked what her problem was. As we left, that guy came outside behind us, almost as if he wanted to ensure we did, in fact leave. Needless to say, nice bar, nice atmosphere, nice music… horrible service. I wish I could say I’d go back but I clearly wasn’t welcome.

The Ginger Man is always a great place to come to kick back in a casual setting and try out their huge variety of beers. Each time I come, here, I like to have a mini tasting of beers I haven’t yet tried. I still think the most fun beer I’ve tried came from here, and I love to order it and have workers know what I’m talking about. Whenever I ask for the«monkey beer» and get a smile and a «coming right up» response. Sometimes, the bar has events on their patio, which is nice and spacious.

If you’ve ever wondered what beer-heaven looks like, you’re in luck. It doesn’t have pearly gates with St. Peter standing in front as a bouncer. Nope. It’s just a small, unassuming place off of Boll Street that reads, «The Ginger Man». As soon as you walk in, you’ll know what I mean. If you’re like me, the first thing you’ll notice is the vast array of tap handles they have behind the bar. I lost count, but they have a copious amount of beer on draft. This is hands down the best place in town to appreciate an old favorite, or to try something new. It’s also home to the chillest atmosphere in uptown: a place where you can enjoy your beer AND hear the person next to you. Tip 1: This is one of just a handful of places in the entire metroplex that serve cask-conditioned beer. If you are unfamiliar with this kind of beer, it is the kind of beer served in Britain and tastes less carbonated than the version of beer you’re used to. Description of cask-conditioned beer: The unfiltered, unpasteurised beer still contains live yeast, which continues conditioning the beer in the cask(known as ‘secondary fermentation’); this process creates a gentle, natural CO2 carbonation and allows malt and hop flavours to develop, resulting in a richer tasting drink with more character than standard keg(‘brewery-conditioned’) beers. Tip 2: In case it’s not apparent already, this place is all about the beer. It’s all they serve. If you’re looking for wine or liquor, you’re going to have to go elsewhere.

Not at all as attentive or helpful here as other Ginger Mans I’ve been too. Including the smoky ones in Fort Worth etc. No offer of drinks to try. One bartender had to bump the bartender that was serving my section(Yes I saw that) because I had been sitting there with an empty glass for quite a bit and had money on the bar to order another one. She was too busy fluffing her hair and talking to her friend Beer selections usually have 1 or 2 that are not available around this area but not too much more in my opinion. What I don’t like is that they have live music on the patio but still play the jukebox inside. Weather, right now, is good enough where they do leave the doors open to the patio. During the jukebox box breaks, you can hear the band, which is much preferrable, in my opinion than listening to a machine. I took my beer to the patio. Just not as friendly as other Ginger Mans. I’ve been here twice and felt the same way
