A Curvy Bride

When I’ve gone in for a fitting, everything was fine. The problem I have had recently was the fact that they didn’t order the correct veil and then blamed that on me and my mom. The materials for my straps didn’t come in at the same time as the dress (they may not be entirely their fault but I assumed it would all arrive at the same time), this means that I won’t be able to take my bridal portraits because I’ll be pressed for time with the alterations.
The ladies there are nice but somewhat disorganized.

I visited A Curvy Bride with my mom last week as my first wedding dress shopping experience. I was overjoyed to find a salon that specialized in plus size gowns because I had read that most salons sample sizes were a size 8. Being a size 14 I was hoping to find a place where I could try on samples that were more flattering to my figure and I could really get a feel for the style and silhouette that looked best on me.
The shop is in a house and beware that parking is an absolute nightmare. No lot, just competitive street parking off of McKinney. Be aware when planning a trip. The house/​shop is very quaint and well decorated. We were greeted by Melissa who was my bridal consultant. She was incredibly warm, friendly and attentive from the start. She seemed genuinely interested in learning about me and the upcoming wedding.
She never made me feel rushed and gave wonderful feedback. I am removing one star because most of the dresses seemed to be quite traditional and a bit basic. Perhaps that was what was in my price point but I was really hoping for some more modern silhouettes and options with delicate sleeves.
Melissa did show me a beautiful dress they had ordered that is exactly what I am looking for, so it seems like they are really trying to select a wider range of styles.
Overall, this is a wonderful salon and I definitely recommend Melissa for her expertise, friendliness and comforting demeanor.

What an experience! I went just to try on and see what looked good on me. I’ve got a large mid section so I was already nervous and anxious going into it. Wow! Marietta was incredible and really made me feel so comfortable! She asked me questions to get to know me then picked the most beautiful gowns to try on! I was a princess! I’m going back to SAY YES TO MY DRESS! Thank you Marietta!

I drove in from San Antonio to come here because, my first couple of bridal appointments were a disaster and I left in tears. No one had what I wanted in my size and if they had my size it wasn’t me or my style.
My stylist was Marietta, who I truly believe is an angel, listened to what I wanted and asked me tons of questions to get to know me and my style. She is an expert and had great suggestions for customizations and slight changes to make my gown look perfect and fit perfectly.
I had the best experience and the second one I tried on was THE ONE! I would highly recommend A Curvy Bride and Marietta. If you go with them you’ll have a wonderful experience.

I can’t believe there aren’t more reviews on here! After awful experiences at two other places who claimed to cater to plus sizes, I found A Curvy Bride. I actually left one place and drove straight to their shop and was still in tears when we walked in the door. The rest of the next hour was a blur of tulle and laughter. It was so much fun trying on dresses that actually fit me and worked well for my body type. I had a plethora of choices and ended up with the most beautiful Mori Lee gown. My bridesmaids were able to get Mori Lee bridesmaid dresses (short black lace, so cute!) at a 15% discount at Lulu’s, their sister shop. It’s all been an incredible experience. I wholeheartedly recommend any bride visit Lulu’s or A Curvy Bride for a great experience. xo

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this store. It was so encouraging to have the boutique bridal experience. The entire store is full of an amazing selection of beautiful designer gowns in a wide range of styles for sizes 14+. Ask for Courtney. She is delightful!
