The Gem

Great smoothie and a good alternative to places like Jamba Juice where everything is drowned in sugar. Pretty pricey but you get a quality product. I got a 10oz kids smoothie, added kale ($ 1), and it was $ 6.50.

This is the first time I’ve done a juice cleanse. The juices were yummy and always ready when I arrived for pickup. The convenience factor was great, especially in the hustle and bustle of the morning. The first day I picked up, the owner greeted me and she was fantastic. Very helpful, energetic and knowledgable. She also informed me that I could switch out the juices daily, which I thought was great to keep it interesting. Unfortunately that was the end of my enjoyable experience. The next two days the girls helping me at this location seemed almost putout and annoyed when helping me. Since this was my first cleanse I was hoping for feedback about the juices to help me determine which juices had similar benefits, but I the only answers received were «yes/​no» answers. Great juices but horrible service. Such a bummer!

I don’t know if I keep ordering the wrong juices, but so far nothing really hit me right. The atmosphere and girls working there rock though!

I have been to many a juice bar, but none quite like The Gem. What makes this store so different? Let me bullet-​point the ways…
1. They have food, snacks and even coffee aside from just fresh pressed juices and amazingly deliciously healthy smoothies! In the mood for a hummus plate, kale, quinoa or bean salad? They’ve got that and then some. All fresh, organic and natural.
2. They are all about health-​conscious education. Aside from the staff knowing all the ins and outs of their menu, they are friendly and passionate enough to take time to explain it you.
Education and maintenance of a healthy life balance is so much a part of their philosophy, that they actually offer a multi-​day small group series called ‘A Day in The Life.’ The purpose of this class is to help their customers figure out what a healthy vibrant life looks like, to plan meals your body and family will love, and to gain some helpful supplement guidance. (Disclaimer: I have yet to take the class, but I learned a lot from the owners during my first two visits already. Plan to sign up for the class soon. Update to follow.)
3. The have valet parking. For Free. The area is super busy, especially during weekday lunchtime, so don’t let the parking situation be a deterrent from experiencing this «gem» of ajuice bar.

I love the bright décor and their energy level. However AVOID this place if you have allergies. I ask to avoid nuts /​cashew milk and then my oatmeal came loaded with walnuts. I guess my nut allergy only applies to smoothies!

My smoothie was pretty delicious and very green… I got the Cameo with kale, coconut and oranges. It definitely had a «green flavor» but was balanced out well from the fruit. The wait was a little long, but they make everything from fresh so that was ok. I also tried one of the sides, the cauliflower salad. But at $ 4 I don’t think it was worth it, the serving small was a little small.

I already wrote a review for The Gem in the Preston Forest Shopping Center but I am so excited there is a Gem near my work that I must write another review! I love love love everything I have tried here, and I order something different each time. Everything is super fresh, healthy, and delicious! Very friendly staff, very happy interior. Parking around the area can be difficult though.

Love this place! The juices are delicious and staff is friendly and helpful. I met the owner today and she is as lovely and caring as can be. Five stars all around. This place is nourishing for the body and soul!

Had the cameo with chia seeds this morning and I’m so in love. I don’t like sweet smoothies but this one was a home run with the kale and coconut manna. Might be my new breakfast run.

I love all of the healthy choices here! The 3 Bean Salad is not to be missed. The ability to choose fresh pressed or bottled juices if you are on the go is a plus. The employees are always super helpful and will recommend little additions to your fresh pressed juice, jalapeño or ginger, yum! The Green Glow is my absolute favorite!

This is another great place to enjoy an organic smoothie or juice. They do carry more than just the juices and smoothies, so if you are wanting a fast healthy snack — The Gem is the place to go.
The Radiant Glow cold pressed juice and Super Sapphire smoothie were excellent today.

This really is a hidden gem in the Preston center. I recently found this place through a good friend of mine, and it quickly became one of my favorite juice bars in town. It’s not in my neighborhood but whenever I’m close by I just grab a smoothie or juice to go. My favorite is Tahitian Pearl smoothie, and I love to add protein powder (vegan!). It actually tastes amazing with it, believe it or not!
Customer service is great too — they are so nice and attentive. Today I picked up my Tahitian Pearl after my workout but it just tasted wrong. Super icy and didn’t have the richness I love. I usually hate to bother people but had to, because you know it’s a $ 8 smoothie I wanted to enjoy the most of it!
The staff members were apologetic and professional, and happily made me another one, and made sure that it tasted in the way I usually get.
Wish this place were closer — they close at 2:30 pm and sometimes my schedule doesn’t work with their hours. 5 stars!

I went here solely because of another review on Unilocal.The other patron raved about the Tahitian Pearl. I read the description. It sounded delicious. So I went.
The staff was friendly, the place was cute. I’m all about health and vitality and holistic eating. But I drove 35 minutes and paid $ 8 for what tasted like icy cardboard. It didn’t taste like any of the ingredients it advertised. Didn’t taste any hint of coconut, banana, or cocoa. I wouldn’t mind shelling out $ 8 on a mind-​blowing smoothie, but it was bland and tasteless. Just tasted like almond butter blended with ice. C’mon ladies. You could’ve tossed an extra mejdool date in the blender.
I can’t speak for the other drinks they serve. They may be wonderful. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE «TAHITIAN PEARL». It’s a pretentious rip-​off.

Awesome juices that anyone would love. If ur a beet fan try the radiant glow!!! Love the green glow and the platinum veggie. As a vegan, I am always trying new juices with veggies. Love this place.

The customer service here is phenomenal! I was apprehensive about purchasing a juice cleanse package from The Gem after having a terrible experience with another juice bar in Dallas. After emailing The Gem several times and receiving quick, pleasant responses, I decided to go ahead and make the purchase. Since I live in McKinney and wouldn’t be able to pick up the juices on a daily basis, The Gem worked it out so that I could pick up my 3 day cleanse all at once. The girl at the counter was very pleasant and asked if I had my H2O for the morning. Since I hadn’t, she gave me a cup and directed me to their fancy ionized filtered water and then proceeded to grab my order. The bar was very clean and pleasantly I didn’t experience any wait time at all. I was given instructions, asked if I had any questions, and was instructed to contact them if I needed a pep talk during any point of my cleanse. The owners have done a really great job with their branding and it shows in their packaging and marketing collateral. All the juices were labeled with The Gem logo and neatly lined up in clean, recycled beer boxes accompanied with the cleanse directions. I love that The Gem acts as a responsible, environmental friendly business by re-​purposing and recycling as much as possible. Moving on to the cleanse, the juice itself was palatable-​the green one is very green and almost has the texture of milk, definitely thicker than water. I wish that I would have requested no celery but hey, you live and learn. The cashew milks were very tasty and by far the sweetest of them all. You probably won’t need vitamin supplements but if you decide to take them anyway, remember to take fat soluble vitamins D, A, K & E with the cashew milk since it has the highest fat content which facilitates absorption. I received a couple of followup emails asking how my cleanse was going and can’t help but feel that their customer care really sets them apart.

I love this place. I don’t live anywhere near here, but I teach around this area, and it was recommended to me. I stopped in for a try and anytime I am able to stop by, or around, I make it a point to stop here. I hope they open up a location in Plano or Frisco area so I could have some Gem goodness everyday.
I love their green glow juice. It is my ultimate fave. Be sure to grab some containers of hummus. By far, the best hummus I’ve had. It is topped with a jalepeno-​cilantro pesto that makes it to die for. Their kale salad is also delish, topped with a dijon mustard dressing, pistachios and apples, I think I could eat it all day everyday.

Like that they appear to be trying to bring healthy options to Dallas. Hate the execution (or lack there of). The owners don’t need the money and this is a hobby or something for them, the hours suck. Also they push the «fresh» juice on you talking about the benefits of cold-​pressed, while practically blending it in the NON coldpressed juicer. Big disappointment. The bottles juices, which are supposedly coldpressed had an expiration date that was 5 days out. That’s impossible unless they heat or pressure treat it. Being used to the great quality juices in NY and my home (I have a norwalk — those things take a LOT of time) maybe I’m a juice snob. I was excited when I found out about the gem, but they did not deliver.

Maybe I’m a little harrowed so my bias is I’m slightly frustrated by the parking and travel time. I came from hood-​ass Oak Cliff on my lunch break. I googled a few places, liked the branding here and jumped on the road… I went to an old address… and that’s completely my fault — but it was about another 8 minutes from where I was.
The place is amazing looking, the staff are friendly, the menu is crisp and clean — everything on the site matches everything you see in person.
Got the Green Glow beverage — added jalapeño. It’s delicious.
Place has seating but it can be a bit of a squeeze to get around because of placement and layout. Parking is a biatch, it’s a very busy lunch/​retail strip in D-​Town.
Would i go back? Yes but not when I’m in a rush during lunch.

The Gem is a great place to grab a delicious and nutritious snack or meal.
I come here to get freshly squeezed fruit juices and vegetable juice.
I’ve never tried anything I didn’t like.
Enough said.

I love this place. It’s pricy but you just feel so dang good after visiting The Gem. I love the Tahitian Pearl smoothie and the kale salad. I’m thinking of trying a three-​day juice cleanse, too. The staff is super kind and informative, and I love the overall vibe of the new location on Luther Lane.

The Gem isn’t a «restaurant» technically, but lately it is my favorite Tuesday morning indulgence. I stopped by one morning before work, mildly hesitant. I’m not a smoothie girl at all nor am I big on liquid health, but after one taste of their Tahitian Pearl smoothie, I am addicted to The Gem! (By the way, all of the menu items are named after precious stones (gems)!) :-) I love the mood of this place — colorful, uplifting, and young. You will shed 5 years off just by walking in. If you aren’t sure where to start, or what to order, just look for the writing on the wall or ask one of their Certified Health Counselors, like Maury — she knows EVERYTHING! They’ll know how to fix what ails you and they will make it taste great. I’m not even loyal for the incredible health benefits… honestly — I just love the taste and I know that it’s good for me! Wellness makes me happy. This place makes me happy.
My review is limited to the juices since that’s all I’ve had here. As you order your juice at the register, you can see the fresh fruits and vegetables laid out on the kitchen counter, all waiting to go into your juice. You know that only good things are going into your juice because you can watch for yourself as they insert all the wonderful plants into the juicer.
For those looking for sweet and sugary juices, you’ll be disappointed. But for those looking for a healthful juice without added sugars or artificial sweeteners, you’ll love it here. I had the Green Glow juice on my last visit. It consisted of nothing but kale, cucumber, lemon, apple, and ginger. It made me very happy. :)
One word of caution: the parking around here is hellacious during the lunch hour on weekdays.

What a great addition to Preston Center!
The Gem offers juices, smoothies and shots but, not the type you are thinking about. Located on the southwest side of Preston Center, The Gem’s space is open, clean, inviting, comfortable, you name it, the space invites you in.
I figure there are two types of people in the world peanut butter and chocolate people and fruit people. I am the former so I tend to stick with the Tahitian Pearl and Chocolate Diamond. Nonetheless, the Super Sapphire is great too!
I haven’t tried The Gem’s juices but, people seem to love them; however, I have tried their shots which include, Ginger, Turmeric and a few others. They may not taste so great but, they leave you feeling good.
Any time I am looking for a light lunch or healthy snack, I’ll be sure to swing by here.
