It closed down. There is a sign on the door. Supposedly it has been bought out by a more prestigious restaurant manager.

Ripped off. Order a Peticolas & was served in a proper glass. Someone ran off with the beer and took a sip. The bartender asked the man to return it he did, with a sip taken from it. The bartender than served the Glass that was had been drank out of to me! I refused the drink and was served a fresh beer in a small glass as pictures. Ripped off and won’t be back. Charged full price for 2 skimpy beers, get it together!

I like this place and it is convenient to my home for sports games. But the draft beer wasn’t cold. And that’s an issue.

Fab $ 5 Friday: terrific grilled burger and basket of fries. Cold drafts, brick floors and a generous bar that is often filled with a variety of characters. A forgotten Corner in Knox– Henderson area is worth seeking out.

This is one of my favorite bars in Dallas. It’s not clean or organized. Usually has a fowl smell, however it has great character. Staff is pretty friendly. I like this place because it’s a place where you can be yourself and let loose. Crowd ranges from blackout drunk to young professionals to wedding guests.

A dive bar that’s not quite a dive bar. It’s a little run down yet still maintained. Once you walk in you immediately notice the bar which is from and center. The liquor selection is a good ordinary mix and they have about 6 or so beer taps with some local craft offerings as well as a few near beers like Coors. We opted for the bar and the tender immediately came to greet us and handed us some food menus. He allowed us to browse without hovering and read our needs very well. We didn’t get any food but we were impressed with the choices and quality that we saw on other patrons plates. It seems the favorite is the BLT that offers a fried tomato on top instead of the normal bland you get at most places. Overall we were quite impressed and had came for a quick sip before heading to Henry’s Majestic and almost stayed and said screw it. Drinks were around $ 4 each and the food was under $ 10. We will be going back when we need a place to depend on for some good drinks and we gotta try the food.

I moved next door to this bar over a year ago and REALLY wanted to make it my normal spot. After going there multiple times in a row there was no familiarity, the bartenders are rude and seem to only care about chatting with their girlfriends at the bar rather than do their job and be friendly servers to all patrons. Karaōke on Wednesdays and Karaōke is always fun!

Used to go here often and after a long break went in this weekend. The odor in this place could knock you out and I’m not talking about an old beer smell that is common in bars. This place smells like dead ass. Needs to be scrubbed down from top to bottom and find the leak or dead animal that’s causing the issue. Seems it’s been a problem for months looking at reviews. Two hours later… And now just saw a patron physically restrained and assaulted by staff(Indian or Arab bouncer with beard). Watched the whole thing unfold over the patron mistakenly thinking a closet was a bathroom and apparently the bouncer didn’t appreciate the way patron asked where the bathroom was(a dark corner/hallway for the record). Drank in hundreds of bars and never seen a bouncer do that, talk about a huge liability and an asshole to boot. I guess they have enough $$$ for bouncers, but not to fix the the sewer leak. Won’t be back.

I’m pretty sure this TCB has a sewage problem. It smells STRONGLY of vomit and other bodily fluids, especially on hot nights. Otherwise, it’s still a solid watering hole for the neighborhood and a good mix of Uptown/SMU/service industry folks.

I have had the pleasure of DJ’ing at this bar. Great little spot. Staff is great. A good mix of crowd. Midday you get the folks that just want to grab a beer and a bite. Late afternoons you get the laid back regulars, and late night you have the younger party crowd.

This is a great place. No airs. Straight forward neighborhood bar first. Lucky for all of us the grill(kitchen) offers better than usual bar fare. The owners are culinary trained. The wait staff are cool at first then warm up. It’s best to know what you want drink wise as the wait staff are not coached to describe their drinks(no, «Today our special cocktail is…). Again a neighbor hood watering hole, not a suburbanite turn the screaming kids loose venue. Good beer, drinks and food selection. Service is prompt and courteous. The owner(s) are nearly always there and make their presence known– major plus compared to the failed Acme across the street. To all the Uptowners– support this great, local, neighborhood Corner Bar!

The last 2 times I’ve been here the whole bar smelled like vomit. This used to be a chill place. I’ve been quite a few times because the karaōke DJ on Wednesdays is awesome! Other than the karaōke, this place has really gone downhill. The drinks are a little too pricey compared to some nicer bars in the area. I haven’t eaten here so I can’t comment on the food. With the way the place has smelled and looked I have not had much of an appetite anyway. I might give this place a try in another couple of months but as of right now I don’t think I’ll be back. Oh and I heard the DJ also does Karaōke on Fridays and Sundays at a pizza place in Plano called Goodfellas. I’ll probably have to check that out instead.

The food here is a wonderful surprise. We stopped by because we were desperate for food on a busy day. We were floored by the quality of food and service. Cody is a top notch bar tender. Not only well versed about what’s on tap but remembers his regulars after only a couple visits. The food though. A BLT with fried tomatoes and an egg. Rachel has had their burgers and couple time and keeps going back, swears they are the best burgers around. I’ve also had their frito pie on steroids and it’s messy delicious. I cannot recommend stopping by here more. I promise you will not be disappointed. Unless it’s packed with college students.

This place is FRATastic. You really feel like you are at a Frat party. The music is bumping, groups of ladies are dancing together and the sweat and stale beer smell abounds. We came here on a Saturday night and the attire varied so much… anything from a graphic T to formal wear. We didn’t stay long, but long enough to know that this is where you want to end your night, not start it!

This bar is a couple of blocks down from where I live and I just recently started going. It feels kind of like a dive bar… except nicer. I was really surprised at how good the food is. It’s a great price for the quality. The music is also great. I applaud their station/playlist when there isn’t a DJ. Both DJs that play are quite good. The weekend crowd consists mostly of young twenty somethings. On weekdays it varies. The staff is very kind. The facility itself is quite clean. I really have nothing bad to say about this place. They will definitely be seeing more of me!

Stumbled upon this place on a walk. Have driven past for a year and nothing about the exterior seemed enticing. What a difference when you walk through the door. It has a homey, local bar feel with a great selection of drafts. Biggest surprise was the food. In a word… amazing! We had their Meat on Wood(selection of hams with house-made mustard and pickles), chorizo quesso that was incredible, and a Tenderloin Hash that was also fantastic. The Sam Adams beer rep was on site and introduced us to some really good Sam Adams beers. We had a wonderful time, enjoy excellent food and drinks, and relished the cozy, welcoming atmosphere. Definitely going back.

Corner Bar is a fun spot that offers up some great people watching. A diverse crowd shows up here. In fact on my visit this weekend I saw a guy dressed as McGruber, it was a damn good costume too(although I’m not sure why he was). I met some friends up here for a few late night drinks and it was fun. The bar staff was really good at paying attention and getting you your drinks. The bartender I had, I wish I caught her name but she was a cute brunette, had my drink for me almost as soon as I walked up to the bar with out having to order. Kuddos on remembering what I wanted within the second order. The drink prices are reasonable and you can always find a cab out front. Worth a visit but it’s just not my crowd so it won’t be a regular spot for me.

Just your old-fashioned hangout where things that typically transpire are things you only want to happen in your drunken memories. I’m a firm believer that how fast my soberness dissipates every visit here speaks highly of their attentive service. I never have an empty hand. This leads to me dancing the night away or attempting to karaōke at this fully stocked bar of eclectic party-goers. It can also serve as a convenient spot on a lazy afternoon that screams mid-day beer!

FULLDISCLAIMER — a friend of mine from college owns this bar. True bars have character. They are not cookie-cutter imitations of something real.(For example, a no-character cookie cutter bar would be the Black Finn — ie, a chain.) Corner Bar has a little bit of something for everyone and it has evolved over the last 20 years. Over the years, a few internal walls have been moved around and tv’s have been added. It’s not terribly trendy; it sits on the outskirts of Highland Park; it’s not swanky; and it does attract college kids(SMU), young professionals, and a few old timers like me. The little bit of something for everyone mentioned above? Let’s see … sports on the tv’s … an occasional local band … karaōke … a few video games … Though I can’t remember if they serve food — probably not. That said, here’s why I like the Corner Bar: Everyone is friendly. The bartenders, the waitstaff, and yes, the customers. Great place to mingle or just hang out with some old friends. Most bars are not for everyone and everyone has their own tastes. The Corner Bar is just what the name says — a good bar, right around the corner from where you live. And yes, it’s on the corner of the block.
