I really like this place. I don’t understand why it’s not more popular. The décor is classy, and the atmosphere is laid back. Every waitress we’ve had has been great, and the food is really good! I recommend the burger and fish tacos! Pair that with reasonable priced drinks for a win. My favorite part of this place is the patio! It’s nice and large, big fireplace, and pretty lights.

I love this place HOWEVER(and it’s a huge however) they use to have the best ribeye steak in Dallas and it’s no longer on the menu. Great bar, ambiance and staff. It would be a solid 5 star if they still had the steak. That’s how good it was. Ps,. As a rum drinker they need a great rum with this ambiance. Zacapa or Dorado rum

I came here on a Saturday night to hear DJJT Donaldson spin and I had a blast. It’s a very low key, low light type of spot. You don’t feel like you are in Dallas at all(ie. non-pretentious). Drinks were very reasonably priced. I hear they have a kick azz happy hour as well that I need to check out if i’m in the area. Two thumbs up on this spot.

I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. This is a bar in the uptown area that I actually enjoy hanging out at! The service is very good. They clearly care a lot about what they are doing. They know their beer, their cocktails, and their food. It is never busy when we are there, but we tend to visit during off hours like Sunday nights. I learned about Acme on Instagram and have become a loyal follower!

My expectations were pretty high about this one. Unfortunately they were not met. Service was slow and felt very unorganized. I had a very hard time distinguishing between the servers and the customers. However they were quite friendly. Bathrooms appear to be dirty but it’s quite the opposite. They went for a vintage theme and accomplished their goal gracefully with flying colors. They are clean and smell nice but look like a wreck. The food presentation was superb, especially the meat and cheese plate. However the food looked better than it tasted. Everything was overly complicated and did not taste as good as it sounded on the flimsy paper menus. The Ice cream however is definitely a must! However I think the food was not good enough to be as expensive as it was. Overall: The service is slow but friendly. The vintage theme is charming and well done. The food looks great but tastes not as good as it should. A bit too pricey. But the Ice cream is a must.

This place is awesome! I was very surprised it wasn’t more busy on a Saturday night. The patio is beautiful and has one TV for sports. Great draft beer and cocktail list, I tried the summer crush and mint julep, would definitely get the mint julep again! The presentation was great on both drinks. We ordered 6 of the gulf oysters to start. This was the only thing I didn’t like… they are served with a wierd, purple mignonette sauce, no cocktail sauce and crackers! The rest of our food was fantastic, the flat-bread of the day(chorizo and jalapeño) and spring salad with almonds. We also split the mac & cheese with bacon jam, a must-try. Sooo delicious and smoky/sweet bacon jam. The service was pretty good, no mistakes!

Got here early, actually we were here at Right at 5pm opening hour on Saturday. Expecting good things since my wife and I are big fans of Good 2 Go taco and they run both these places. Kinda nervous but hoping good things. Pork belly and Mac and Cheese are on my radar, not sure what the wifey wants. It turns out the Good 2 Go girls are no longer part of this establishment. But the food didn’t seem to suffer. Had the mac and cheese and it was good. The flatbread pizza was good except hot olives aren’t my thing. I will return cause the place and food ware spot on.

I don’t normally write a review unless the food is incredibly good and the service matched. However, in the case of this restaurant, it was the total opposite. I went last night with a group of friends. It was not too crowded on the patio. We were promptly served with water by the staff and then told our waitress would be around shortly to take our drink orders. 10 minutes later, a very unfriendly waitress took our drink orders. It took another 10 minutes to bring 8 of the 9 drinks out to the table by a different server, who had to ask who had which drink. Our waiter finally came around 5 minutes later to tell us the last drink order was not available and to ask for a substitute. Then the waitress disappeared for another 10 minutes before returning to take our food order. We ordered a flatbread and a cheese & cracker plate. What should have been a fairly quick food service took almost 25 minutes and 2 complaints before getting the food. The flat bread was marginally better than a pita bread with melted cheese and thinly sliced tomatoes that my teenage son makes at home in the microwave. We finally, after being there an hour and a half got our tickets to check out. The 20% gratuity was already included in the bills, thankfully somebody in our party noticed that because the waitress failed to mention that fact. When we asked to speak to he manager about the slow service, a man showed up and asked how our dinner and service was tonight. We all stated how displeased we were with the slow service and unremarkabe food quality, he simply replied that he was sorry and that he was only a waiter, but he would pass it on to the owner. I would definitely not recommend this to my friends. It’s ashame, because the patio and décor was warm and inviting. Maybe I’ll try the corner bar across the street, next time we bring a few friends on our monthly evening bike ride on Katy trail.

NOTE: This is ONLY a brunch review. Dinner is still yumtastic. I hate to do this. I don’t want to. but I have to. My friend and I came to ACME F&B yesterday for brunch. It wasn’t busy — no one inside, most of the patio full — but fairly slow. First of all, our waitress was awful.(you have like 5 tables, and 2 girls who obviously are going to drink sit down. be nice to them). Maybe she was hungover. Maybe she had a bad date. Maybe she hates life. but she was super unpleasant. We ordered a mimosa carafe — and unless they took a red eye to florida to get the OJ, 10 minutes is a little excessive to wait. Then when she came back, we had to tell her we were ready to order and she said«Go for it.» with an eye roll. LOVELY! Whatevs. I ordered the«something like a benedict» — which my friend had gotten before and enjoyed, and it was disgusting. I mean — the hollandaise-ish sauce did NOT taste like hollandaise — and basically covered the entire biscuit and short ribs to a point of being a soup. The potatoes were finely chopped with peppers and SUPER oily and greasy. not to mention, it was not even luke warm. I hate sending food back, but after trying to scrape half the sauce off, I just had to. I ended up getting 2 eggs and toast. which were both fine, except for the jam. I get it — you’re trying to be healthy and trendy — but this jam was AWFUL. like, sour. like, not sweet at all. maybe had beets in it? GA-ROSS. I definitely will not be back for brunch unless I see some good reviews. Yuckola.

This place is quite interesting. It was recommended by a coworker. We arrived here on a saturday night. We made reservations. It wasn’t too busy but we ended up only waiting 5 minutes. You may want to put in your reservation on open table and if it’s a nice day you may want to leave in the notes that you want to sit on their patio. Their patio is excellent. We sat on the inside. Their ambiance is very warm and inviting. The walls are decorated ornately with patterned wall paper and the trendy edison lights warm the space and make it an intimate experience. The seating however is a different story. It’s a bit uncomfortable. I’m tempted to bring a forever comfy pillow from one of those infomercials designed for old people. The waiter took a while to greet us. However, when he did he offered us a sampling of alcohol and i quickly forgave him for such transgressions. We ordered the mac and cheese with the bacon jam, she ordered the flat bread and i ordered their NY strip. The mac and cheese is delicious. The bacon jam adds dimension to the mac and cheese. The bacon note, in the jam, is a bit overshadowed by the sweetness. The bacon jam surprisingly goes well with the mac and cheese. The NY strip is quite delicious. The NY strip is served on top of mash potatoes and a side of greens. I asked for the steak to be cooked a medium rare. Unfortunately, it was more of on the rare side. Seems like half the steak was cooked medium rare and the other side was a mushy rare. It needed some seasoning. Overall, the place doesn’t deliver for it’s price.

Acme F&B is kind of tucked away on McKinney two blocks past La Duni. It’s next to a dry cleaners/tailor and kind of obscure unless you’re looking for it. The exterior looks kind of modern rustic, and there’s a pretty good-sized patio that extends off the side. Upon walking in, there’s a bar area with some small couches, and the main dining area off to the right. My friend and I came on a Tuesday night, so it was pretty empty. I was immediately drawn to the décor — baroque-printed wallpaper in one corner, a fireplace in the middle and green velvet couches. Since it was Tuesday, it was $ 6 shaken cocktail night so we both ordered moscow mules which were pretty tasty. We decided to split the flatbread of the day, the szechuan mussels, the pork chop, and a side of mac and cheese. The appetizers are definitely a generous size, so keep that in mind when ordering. The flatbread of the day was delicious — goat cheese, arugula, and plums are a combination I’d never put together myself, but it worked. I’m not the biggest mussels fan, but these were pretty tasty — I kept dipping the bread into the broth. We were pretty excited for the pork chop and mac cheese because the pork chop was one of the«top 4» entrees the waiter listed and the mac and cheese was highly recommended — but I actually think these were our least favorite. The pork chop was slightly overdone and salty, but the salad and purée balanced it out. The mac and cheese was good, but not great. This is definitely a place to check out for happy hour, dinner, or brunch! If you don’t want to wait, I’d suggest checking it out during the week or making a reservation on Open Table.

Perhaps I didn’t pick the right menu item. My friend went on and on about how delicious and amazing everything was and I was stoked to try it. As a thrifty foodi, I rarely ever treat myself to a meal that I consider pricey. Since it was Tues and half priced oysters I thought I’d give it a shot. The table bread was ordinary, maybe thats the point. SO was the butter, nothing to scream about. They did give us sampling of this white wine which was rather tasty. Ordered oysters and the presentation was beautiful, taste not so much. Again, don’t take my judgement too seriously as I don’t really eat Oysters that much, but the vinegary dressing or whatever they pair it with was not kind to my taste buds. Maybe I am not cultured enough as I was expecting these to be served with crackers(which would have helped with the taste) but no carbs for this dish! For my main course I ordered the Roasted chicken, I wish I could find it somewhere online because it came with 2 sides. One was just… tasted like boiled potatoes which were bland. The other was this stuffing type side with various textures and was good(or rather better than the bland potatos) The chicken had a great flavor, the skin was perfectly crisp, though the chicken was dry. I think its absurd to spend over $ 15 on chicken but hey… for $ 26 I guess I wanted a little more pizzazz and better flavors. The service was good and the atmosphere was cozy. However, after spending $ 40(with tip) I wasn’t really impressed with any of the dishes I tried. I could have gotten 2 dishes elsewhere with more flavor and more satisfying.

The husband and I were very excited to finally get to try Acme F&B based off the quality of food and flavors found at Good 2 Go Taco and Goodfriends. Unfortunately we ended up leaving without even getting a taste of the food. When we got there for out 6:45 reservation it was a good 10 minutes before our drink order was taken and the restaurant was not busy. There were more staff than patrons. Including ourselves there were 4 tables occupied in the whole restaurant. The bread was served promptly with our water which was completely blah followed by a pallet cleaning apéritif.(very nice!) We went on Tuesday and started with the .50 cent oysters which is where it all went wrong. The oysters were small. I could not believe the kitchen would even put some of them on a plate much less serve the to customers! It was served with a vinegar/shallot based sauce which I did not care for. We asked if they had any cocktail sauce or horseradish and crackers and was informed they did not have cocktail sauce. After literally ROLLINGHEREYES at our request or waitress Alexandria returned with some fresh horseradish and crackers. Who doesn’t have cocktail sauce? Any chef should be able to ship some up from scratch no problem with ingredients they have in the kitchen. After being made to feel as though we were country bumpkins and seeing what Acme considered to be «quality» oysters we were done. We asked for our check and left. Honestly I was floored at the judgmental response we received at our request. I would like to think this was an isolated incident but seeing another Unilocal review from the same night makes me think it is not. We left and went elsewhere for oysters which were large, plump and fresh and only $ 4 more a dozen.

Happy Valentines day to me! My wife and I decided to try Acme F&B for the first time tonight because we had heard many good things about it. Our first impression was very good. The space is quite cool and I like the fire-side seating near the back bar. I am familiar with the back bar because upon arrival we were told that our table would be ready any minute. The couple there was just finishing up and paying. As we sat at the back bar for approximately 30 minutes I had the opportunity to look around the interior. F&B has a bit of a lodge feeling. This particular lodge has a reasonable amount of seating. Even though we were not able to be seated immediately, there were plenty of open tables. Turns out they just forgot about us at the bar. I alerted the host that we had most likely been forgotten and after some computer fumbling we were escorted to one of the half dozen empty tables… no appology. We ordered: — warm mozz — not bad but a ton of cheese… bring friends — steak tartar — very good, would order this again if we planned to eat here again — ricotta gnocchi — meh, needs some sauce or something — pork chop — pretty good — mac and cheese — quite good — wine — half price on Thursday, can’t complain about that Bottom line is this place is a cool location with reasonable prices. Unfortuantely the food is mediocre and the service is worse.

I had heard great things about Acme F&B but somehow always forget about it. FINALLY, I checked it out this past Friday and I was seriously missing some great food. Acme F&B offers up a hipster vibe, with shabby chic décor and indie music playing over the sound system. The staff is chill, not overly friendly but not rude. They sort of just stay out of your way. The whole experience was great and my table ordered a lot of food… like…A LOT. The highlights were definitely the oysters(we ordered Blue Point) which were served with a lemon wedge and chili sauce. Also, the beets with mint and shallots were a favorite of the table. They are FANTASTIC. I would absolutely come here and order a side of beets, or two and a few cocktails while relaxing on their outdoor patio. The mac n cheese, although good wasn’t to die for or «the best ever» like most of these reviews say. I would absolutely order it again and crave it on a rainy day but the best in the world? Not quite. The flatbreads are made with wonton so they are pretty crispy on the outside and doughy towards the middle. Decent enough but difficult to eat with the mixed textures. The burger is massive and served with a huge pile of delicious fresh cut fries. An above average burger for sure but nothing creative about it. The wild mushroom entrée was a huge disappointment. Soggy, under-seasoned mushrooms served over a parsley ridden pile of spatzel and overcooked arugula was just a mess. I would never order this again and in fact, I would suggest Acme F&B reevaluate this even being on the menu it was so disappointing compared to the rest of the food. The cocktails were creative and mostly gin based which rocks. This could very well be my new go to spot when I want a delicious, no nonsense meal.

I met up with some friends at ACME F&B and was less than impressed. My husband had a drink at the bar and enjoyed the maple and peach old fashioned. He liked it and said that it was a good strong drink. We only waited a few minutes for our table and were seated by the large windows(which are great in good weather). We ordered every course in order to try as much of the menu as we could. I started with the fried artichoke hearts. You can’t really go wrong with fried artichokes so it was good. The aioli was a bit overseasoned but it was decent. The husband had the charcuterie platter which he enjoyed. It didn’t come with a lot of bread, though, and we had to ask for more. A friend of ours had the steak tartar and he enjoyed it tremendously. Next was the salad course. My salad was over dressed and soggy. The dressing was mediocre. My friend who also got a salad was also unimpressed with his salad. I would recommend skipping this course if you go to ACME F&B. There’s nothing about this place that screams«delicious salads!» This place is known for their chicken and dumplings which 2 people at our table ordered. They both loved it and I got to taste a bite. I agree that this is probably their best dish on the menu. I ordered the black cod and was extremely disappointed. The fish had a nice sear on it but the center was not cooked and it was extremely oily(not the oil from the fish but from the pan in which it was cooked). I ate a few bites and gave up because it was so undercooked. For dessert, I ordered the maple crème brûlée and again, I was disappointed. There was no sugar on top of the custard to be brulleed. Instead, they had a tasteless piece of sugar that was clearly made on a silpat(based on the design in the sugar) as a decoration. The sweet potato cake, on the other hand, was absolutely delicious and perfectly baked. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant for drinks and chicken and biscuits. As for the rest of the menu, it needs work and a perhaps some refinement in the kitchen.

This review just relates to their raw oysters. While the selection might be good as pointed out by other reviews, the kitchen staff’s noses must not be. This now marks the second time I’ve heard complaints from people who know their oysters that the set served to them smelled(and were) way off, so much so that they were not consumed for fear of imminent diarrhea and projectile vomiting. Not exactly the outcome most folks are looking for following brunch on a nice patio. Until they can get their seafood situation under control, I have a hard time trusting the quality control of the staff in Acme F&B’s kitchen and you probably should too. All that said, their mac n cheese is really delicious, and the patio space is quite nice, although a bit chilly this time of year.

Oh boy, where do I begin: the charcuterie plate with generous portions of cheese and exciting array of cow parts, like tongue and heart or the complimentary amuse in the form of some delicious sweet alcoholic liquid that awaits you before you even take your seat? First, let me begin with the beautifully warm, cozy space that evokes a hunting lodge in the mountains. With re-purposed materials constructing the skeleton of the space(the overhead lights, the ceiling, the bars) juxtaposed with natural elements sparsely populating the space that add a perfect accent to the overall theme of the restaurant. The menu is simple but powerful and focuses on every part of the animal. Similarly, the space is reflects just that — powerful simplicity with odes to mother nature. Speaking of focusing in the animal, this restaurant might be one of the few in Dallas that hosts a full allocation menu: they use every part of the animal, hence my adventurous charcuterie platter. The service was above par and walked us through every meal. We landed on the mushroom salad that was perfectly tossed with arugula, shitake mushrooms, and a reduced glazed they supposedly had marinating in jars for weeks. The mac and cheese was adorned with a bacon jam that pulled at my heart strings. Hmm — come to think of it — I have some leftover in the fridge. Better eat it before it goes bad. What a terrible waste!

My boyfriend and I ate an early dinner at Acme F&B this evening, and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The complimentary valet directed us to the door(toward the center of the complex). We met the hostess who took my name(she said it was for convenience of future reservations). As it was around 5:30, we had our choice of tables and chose a small table by the windows near the patio. To start our waiter offered us a complimentary cocktail«amuse bouche» of lillet blanc with orange rind. That was a nice touch. Also the bread and butter had a great presentation — the bread was wrapped in paper and the butter was salted and came in a little pot. My boyfriend started with a Summer Crush and I had a Blueberry Lemon Cooler. Both drinks were outstanding, and I could spend all afternoon drinking those coolers! We switched to beer after that but there was a wide selection of cocktails, wine, and beer to satisfy anyone. I had a Deep Ellum Hefe and my boyfriend had a Victory Summer Love(absolutely perfect for this hot weather). We started with oysters, which were very fresh and came with a shallot vinegar. My boyfriend had the hunter’s schnitzel(the meat of the day was rabbit heart) to start, and I had the summer chopped salad with three seed dressing. My boyfriend said the heart tasted like deep fried bacon and didn’t have an organ meat texture at all. The salad featured very nice heirloom tomatoes and iceberg lettuce but still had a lot of taste and pleasant crispness. I had the seared skate with savoy cabbage, sofrito, and garbanzo beans. It was very nicely seasoned with a touch of heat from some red pepper and plated on the greens and a light beurre blanc. I felt like it was a bit of a spring dish but still suitable for summer. I really enjoyed it. My boyfriend had the Farmer’s Cut of Lamb(lamb chop) with roasted cauliflower, rocket, warm tomatoes, and braised fennel. He enjoyed the fennel the most and felt like the underlying jus was the primary flavor ingredient in the dish. There was no salt or pepper on the table — as the dishes were properly seasoned. I’m sure if someone wanted salt or pepper the servers wouldn’t mind providing it. Serving sizes were generous but not overwhelming. We didn’t opt in for dessert but the menu was tempting. I guess it’s something to look forward to next time. Our waiter, Alex, was attentive but not smothering and provided good insight into the menu. He had astute recommendations and we chit-chatted about Union Bear, another new-ish restaurant with a great beer selection. We especially enjoyed the music that played throughout our dinner — a pleasant indie mix at an inoffensive volume. We left around 6:45, and the restaurant was much more lively at that point. Apparently, it’s only been open for around 5 weeks. I first heard about Acme F&B on Eater, and hopefully it’s spot on the Eater Dallas Heatmap will help draw interest. We definitely plan on visiting again and recommending Acme F&B to our friends.
