Ok so I was looking for a good taco shop in the area and Tacos La Banqueta popped up with good reviews. Now I know the area is a little scary because it’s not a good neighborhood but you have to try these tacos! They are very delicious. I had the pastor tacos and bistec, such a great decision! This is my first time and will NOT be my last!

These are the best tacos I have ever had. Every taco is made fresh. The little shop has lots of regulars who enjoy all the taco meat choices, so everything is as fresh as possible. Double mini-corn tortillas are not greasy. The green salsa is a little more spicy than the red. Squeeze lime on and salt lightly. Order, eat, and order more. Pay when you’re done. A good meal is six tacos. Enjoy!

La Banqueta has re-opened just around the corner from their original location on Bryan Street to Carroll Street just south of Bryan. Their great tacos are just as good as ever the second time around. Plus now there’s lot’s of comfortable tables and chairs to sit at while chowing down on your favorite tacos drenched in their incomparable spicy verde salsa while watching the World Cup on their multiple screens. My favorite is the Campechano tacos. Suadero brisket and Chorizo cooked slightly crispy on the flat top grill and loaded with cilantro and onions. The best part is, they’re still only $ 1.35 each taco.

Tried this place for the first time today. I love tacos and this place did not disappoint. I had the lengua, cabeza, and pastor. The lengua and the cabeza were fantastic, but the pastor was the star. It was the best pastor I have had anywhere around Dallas. If you are in the downtown area and want a great plate of tacos, this place is a must.

This place is no longer called«La Banqueta» it’s now called Tacos Conin. I thought since they changed owners the food would not be the same, but the staff is the same and the Tacos taste as good as usual! They basically renamed the place, tried to fix up the inside as best as possible, and they’ve got a new cashier the food is still the same!

This place has greatest street style tacos in Dallas by far. I have always been a huge fan of the street style tacos with fajita style grilled meat and a whole ton of cilantro, lime, and onions. Let me start by describing this place… It is a ghetto hole in the wall space in a super sketchy area. It literally translates to Tacos on the Street. which it most precisely is. Friendly service with the MOST delicious street style Taco’s. Very reasonably priced. They make your tacos fresh right in front of you. On busy days I just watch the guy dice onions, cilantro, and slice limes while the other chef grills up the fresh meat. I have no idea how he chops that amount of onion without crying. He must have eyes of steel. It is mouth watering to watch. Not too much space to sit down and eat, but if you are anything like me you want to get out of there as soon as you get your food. One part that made me chuckle is the lady taking my order wrote on our ticket«Dos Chinos» which was a very accurate way to describe us so she wouldn’t forget whose order it was. This place is so good, but can be so shifty. I got Beef, Al Pastor, Lengua, Chorizo. I expected to have explosive diarrhea afterwards but this did not happen, thus I am giving a 5 star review. ALSO this should be expected given the fit and finish of the homely looking storefront, but obviously this place is cash only.

CLOSED, NEWLOCATION: Just a heads up, went there today and it was empty. The place is moving so the location at 3500 is closed. But there is a sign down the street that shows it changing location so it may reopen quickly. :)

For no reason in particular, I found myself craving barbacoa today. Not the hoity-toity Dos Equis«barbacoa» that carpetbaggers eat at Urban Taco, but traditional cabeza de vaca. Tacos la Banqueta was one of the few places I found that specifically advertised cabeza on their menu, so I decided to give it a try. The tacos here are only $ 1.35 each, so I ordered up a trio for lunch: Cabeza(cow’s head), Lengua(tongue), and Chorizo(sausage). I wasn’t feeling quite adventurous enough for the Tripa(intestine). Their tacos come topped with onions and cilantro, which is really all I needed. I decided to forgo the salsa and invest myself in the natural flavors of the meats instead. Since it was the main reason I came to Tacos la Banqueta, I started with the cabeza. The meat was tender and cooked perfectly. It was almost like a roast, which is bad for traditional brisket, but spot on for barbacoa. There was only a slight amount of seasoning(mostly salt), which let the cabeza really stand on its own. It’s been at least 10 years since I’ve eaten lengua, so I was eager to get back in the saddle. The lengua was also very tender, and the crunch of the onions meshed perfectly with the smoothness of the tongue meat. There wasn’t much in terms of seasoning, but fresh cilantro certainly helped in that regard. The chorizo was a little greasy, but luckily it was also extremely flavorful. I found a good mix of spices, as well as a nice crisp char from the grill. It also had the beautiful reddish color that good chorizo should have. Of the three tacos, this was probably my favorite. If you’re brave enough, Tacos la Banqueta is a great spot for barbacoa in Dallas.

Tacos La Banqueta is a very ghetto, hole in the wall taco joint. Home to one of the best, authentic, delicious and tiny tacos in Dallas, TX. You can find it all here! Beefsteak, cow tongue, pork sausage, pork meat, etc. Like I said, these tacos can be tiny. I think I ordered like 4 or 5 for myself. There are about two small tables inside so take out is probably your best option. Highly recommend if you’re craving!

I did like Tacos La Banqueta. If they had breakfast tacos(!!!), barbacoa, and didn’t charge extra(only .15 more per taco) for flour tortillas, I’d definitely like it as much as/more than Tacos Y Mas. It’s in a sketchy area. A crazy(homeless? ex-crackhead? just weird?) lady was in there asking why tacos were $ 1.50 each and«what happened to TWO for $ 1.50?!» and scolding me to «get my receipt because they have all of my information» was in there, as was some super white preppy guy talking Spanglish to the super nice cooks. It was a fun experience waiting for our tacos, but we definitely took them to-go…because it was hot as crap in there, cramped, and she was annoying. I got the bistec, al pastor, and chicken tacos. All were very tasty — the al pastor was a little greasy, but tasty nonetheless. The salsa verde AND salsa roja were… whoo! SPICY! But good. But I needed to drink a cup of milk after my meal to soothe my burning taste buds. All in all, a tasty treat close to home. I will be back, but will call in my order ahead of time next time because people watching is fun from afar, but not so much when the crazy person is just a couple seats away from you and you’re anti-social.

I’m the odd person out with this one because I wasn’t blown away. I really wanted to love it here, but since I like to be truthful and fair about my experiences, I’ll give it an «A-OK» solid three stars. Not bad, but the best tacos in Dallas? Probably not. Most authentic? Perhaps. Relying on my handy dandy Unilocal mobile app, I had no problem finding this place and of course had high expectations based on the reviews. From the outside, it’s a bit intimidating. Inside the same thing, especially for a non-Spanish speaker like myself. It’s small and the«kitchen» and cashier are literally steps away from one another. But somehow I managed to communicate my order successfully: a variety of pork, chicken and steak tacos. Figured I couldn’t go wrong with keeping it basic.(I stood out when I pulled out my debit card because it’s cash only. Oops!) In any case, it was ready in a few minutes and smelled heavenly. Each taco was covered in meat, onions, cilantro, topped with a lime and a side of salsa. 4 tacos for $ 5… yay! It was a tasty and cheap fresh option for lunch. I can’t say much else except that there were no surprises to be had. Fresh flavor but nothing that wowed little olé me.

I had high hopes that the al pastor tacos at this location would be the same as its sister location in Arlington on Cooper St but I was so disappointed. The flavors fell short in comparison. The grilled pork lacked flavor and there was hardly any pineapple in it. Their other tacos are pretty good but not better than Fuel City and definitely not comparable to Tacos El Si Hay. You’re better off going to Tacos y Mas. It’s a very small place and there isn’t much seating except a couple bar stools inside and outside near the window. Be prepared to take it togo.

Review for White People: Yes, this is the place you want. Yes, I too am a Gringo. I don’t speak a lick of Spanish. All the other reviews here are correct regarding the tacos – they’re incredible and are the real thing. Location does appear a little intimidating for the Gringo. Go ahead and push yourself inside to the teeny tiny little space. The people running the place are extremely friendly and hard-working. They do speak a little bit of English. The people waiting in line for food – you’ll see one or two(probably you) that aren’t Mexican – are very friendly too. Well, they certainly have been on the occasions I’ve visited. They do take credit cards, by the way. Here’s where I may differ from the standard Gringo: my friend and I seek out the more unusual stuff and we definitely found it here: tripe(intestines), head, suadero, tongue(even though tongue isn’t really unusual) – they have all of it here. I did not see chicharrones on their menu. Here’s the best part: they grill all of these items up so nice and crispy that it simply tastes great and doesn’t have any of «that» flavor you may encounter from other places. You know, the flavor that makes certain you know that you’re eating intestines and stomach and whatnot. Man! These tacos were light, not greasy, came with the usual cilantro/onion/lime combo + the two variety of sauce to pour on them(orange and green – haha) and were the absolutely best tacos I’ve ever had anywhere. Don’t deny yourself this experience! You ain’t gonna be dinin’ in – like the others here have said, inside the tiny space you’ll be crowded in «butts to nuts» for ordering. Along the wall they’ve installed a long but narrow shelf with barstools and there’ll be patrons squished onto them eating. Get it to go, my friend. Don’t forget to squeeze that lime! P. S. we ordered 8 tacos and the bill was around $ 11 – 12. Can’t beat these prices!

Tacos La Banqueta have been on my list of places to go to for awhile now. If you ask anybody who knows the first thing about food, they will point you in the direction of Tacos La Banqueta. Even Rachael Ray listed it as her top spot to get tacos in Texas-all very exciting. Well, I finally made it there and it was just… fine. Nestled downtown, there is always a steady line. Sure, its good but the best tacos in town? No. The best in Texas? Not even close. The tacos are drowning in a sea of cilantro — so much so that it is hard to taste anything else. I saw a note on the menu that they were now serving pollo, which they didnt for quite some time so I decided to check it out. They probably should have stuck to what they knew because the chicken was straight fat, it was disgusting. The fajita was overcooked. All in all the meat was just disappointing on all fronts. With that said, your best bet here is to get a torta which are delicious and topped with lots of chopped white onion and have perfectly toasted bread. I do like that this place is a total hole in the wall, with only room for about 4 people to actually sit. They even accept credit cards which is nice since most of these places dont. However, if you are craving some serious delicious tacos, I would pass on Tacos La Banqueta.

Not much to say about the restaurant that is Tacos La Banqueta(formerly«El Güero») in East Dallas. The menu, however, is a different story. The taco shack is just that, a locale not much larger than your average storage unit. It seats maybe six customers in 50s-style cafeteria stools inside and there’s hardly any space left over for additional customers to come in and order. Outside there is a table, and if you’re lucky, three chairs. But watch your back, it’s in the parking lot. I posted the picture above in Facebook and a friend asked where I would rate them on a scale from 1 to 10. Nine, I responded. Seven if someone brought them to the office and I missed out on the experience. The offerings are your standard Mexican fare: Bistec, Al Pastor, Lengua, Chorizos, Tripa, Cabeza, Suadero and, as of recent, «Chicken.» If you’re new to street tacos, stick to Bistec(steak) and Al Pastor(pork). If you’ve walked joints like this before, don’t miss out on the Tripa(small intestine) and Suadero(Google it) delights. Down it all down with a Mexican Coca-Cola. The default wraps are corn, although flour tortillas are available for an additional fee. Tortas(sandwiches) and alambres(shish-kabobs) are also served, but I haven’t tried them yet.

there really isn’t too much to say that hasn’t already been said… Tacos la Banqueta aka el guero has some of the best Mexican style tacos in Dallas! I went for the first time by recommendation from a coworker… woooweee I was NOT disappointed friends! The restaurant itself is very small and I ended up taking my tacos to go. These are some real mexican street tacos. Double corn tortilla, your choice of meat, topped with chopped onions and cilantro. I got a total of 5 tacos, bistec, al pastor, cabeza(head), lengua(tongue), carne asada. Just thinking about those small warm round tacos held ever so softly in my hand makes me want to burn every other taco place down! I kid, I kid… or do I? So GOGETSOME!

This is a true hole-in-the-wall. But it is my favorite taco joint. The al pastor tacos are the best I’ve ever had. Go early to avoid the line.

Eat in the kitchen and enjoy some real tacos. Go for the al pastor(spicy pork), bistec(beef steak), and suadero(braised beef brisket) and get a chorizo quesadilla for dessert. Yes to onions/cliantro. What’s really special here is the meats are tossed on a hot grill for crisping prior to being turned into tacos. This is an incredible advantage over other taco purveyors in the area! Grab a Boing to drink and you’re in action. Yum!

So good! Unilocal definitely steered me to the right place with this one. I loved my chorizo tacos and my boyfriend loved his al pastor tacos that the cooks made directly in front of us, fresh from the grill. My chorizo was a tiny bit dry. Don’t expect to find seating. It’s a very very small place linked to a liquor store, and yes, we got harassed for change the minute we left the place with our delicious smelling food. I wouldn’t say it’s unsafe to go at night though, but just be cautious and have your keys ready in hand, etc, etc. Come here to try what REAL Mexican tacos taste like. Y-U-M.

I love TACO’S El Guero! I’ve only had the tacos and I always get them on flour tortilla’s although the corn ones are great too… I’ve had them all! From Bistec and Sudero to Lingua and Tripas they’re amazing! Better than Fuel City and the staff even when they don’t speak english are always glad this gringo came in. I love the Red and the slightly more spicy green salsa. Eat here if you LOVE tacos! Warning, the location on Bryan St. is kinda in a seedy area, and the inside of the restaurant is SUPER small. BUT«Good news everybody»(in my best Hubert Farnsworth voice) They have a new location on Gaston by the YMCA opening THISTHURSDAY! I’m so excited!

The meat in the tacos was fatty and greasy. The tacos didn’t have much flavor to me. I reccomend Taqueria El Si Hay for legitimate Mexican tacos.
