My coworker go here to pick up evening yummies after lunch. It is at a convenient location — major intersection of Preston and 635. It allows for a quick in and out with plenty of parking. Their cookie selections is grand and their prices are quite inexpensive. I have never ordered a cake but the ones they have on display are always looking very tempting. They even have a «clearance» selection of pastries and treats that always grab my attention. The staff is friendly and always willing to offer suggestions.

Dropped in today and tried brownies and petit fours. Both were delicious and I will be back to try note items next time. Ingredients and flavours much better than Casa Linda bakery. I do wish that Astins was still around.

By order of my boss I have to go here. Orders are never on time and the petit fours are very inconsistent and not always covered evenly, they vary in size too. Our custom lettering is sometimes done in the wrong color. There is a small chance they come out right but when they do it is worth it… I just wouldn’t want to take that chance.

After a horrible experience with a different bakery backing out on my order only 3 days before the event, Stein’s Bakery was a lifesaver! They are baking me a beautiful cake for a baby shower on Friday at a lower price than the previous quote. Thanks so much!!!

First, Stein’s Bakery is a Dallas Institution. It’s been around since the 1940’s. Many of my friends have always ranted & raved about Stein’s over the years. I finally see what the fuss is all about. My daughter in-law brought a two layer Chocolate Birthday Cake for my son’s Birthday & we all agreed that it was one of the Best Chocolate Cakes we’d ever eaten. Perfect Cake Perfect Frosting. It was also so beautifully decorated. I’m looking forward to using Stein’s for my next Special Occasion.

I sent a picture via email to Stein’s of some cookies I wanted for a baby shower that was being given in 1 week. They called me back within 4 hours with prices and pick up time. The cookies were beautiful, delicious and reasonably priced. All of the guests wanted to know where the cookies were made. Thank you Stein’s!

My other half got us a small white cake from here for our anniversary. The cake was so incredibly dry, we each had a bite and thew the rest away. It had the texture of very very dry wonder bread. It was almost as if the cake had been in the freezer too long. I assured him I would return it and ask what the deal was — but we mutually agreed that if they can’t get a simple small white cake right, was it really worth making another trip there? Just awful. We will not be back.

This place is awesome! I ordered a custom graduation cake, and was overjoyed on the outcome! Joyce did a wonderful job helping me design the cake, and she was so patient, as I was indecisive about every little detail. Not only was the cake beautiful, it tasted great! I will definitely use Stein’s Bakery again!

You know its good when you get the sugar shakes and the cake melts the second it hits your tongue. This is now the 4th time I’ve ordered petit fours for a baby shower and as always, they were a hit. I have learned to order more than I need because people tend to get volatile when there aren’t enough to share for 2nds. What can I say, it makes people go all caveman and such. I’ve tried to pass it off like I made it, but people know me too well and its just not something that would even be edible if I tried. Bottom line, don’t let your home kitchen bakery drag you down, let Steins do the dirty work. Oh yea. Cheese pocket.

I offered to host a baby shower for the daughter of a good friend. We are new to the Dallas area and didn’t know where to start. I wanted to serve petit fours instead of cake because they are easy to serve and usually so pretty. Got on Unilocal, read other reviews and made my choice. Ordered over the phone, they were ready when they said they would be. Beautiful and tasted great! I will definitely go there again!

This place is alright but nothing special, all the cake I’ve tasted from here including the petit fours, cupcakes, and specialized cake for a birthday I attended taste like a add water mixture that I know places like this are keen to using. Coming from a avid baker and culinary degree holder I would not recommend this place unless everyone else was closed and you don’t know how to bake a cake yourself.

I am usually not picky about food, and I go wild for baked goods. I was excited to try this highly recommended place, and I was left feeling very confused. The location is beyond awful, and it seemed very weird to have a bakery somewhere with blue carpet and walls. It looked dingy, and for lack of a better description… it smelled like a grandma’s house. Not in a good cinnamon roll way, in a dusty-drapes, old magazines way. The cookies we got all tasted the way the place smelled, and it really put me off. I’ve never encountered a spice I didn’t like so I can’t think of anything that might be causing it that’s an ingredient. Maybe it was something like cigarette smoke? I have no idea what it was but it’s hard for me to believe everyone loves this place and I’m the only one noticing the weird smell and aftertaste. The cases were only about half full and the trays looked dingy and yellowed. The staff didn’t really acknowledge us, usually in a bakery it’s all«welcome, what are you looking for today, would you like to try(…)?» but nothing like that. I have soooooo many coworkers that rave and rave about this place so I can’t help but wonder if something changed or if they were having an off day. I might try again in a few months or next year just because it’s very unlike me to dislike a baked good so many other people rave about. Weird experience.

The best bakery in the world. I love this place. My grandmother used to bring me here as a kid for my birthday cakes and for a treat when I did well in school. Such happy, delicious memories.

Not the bakery it used to be when I was a kid. however, I am only judging by their cakes. I haven’t had anything else of theirs recently. I would try their cream cheese coffee cakes, but I wouldn’t recommend ordering a cake. Cake was dry, which is why I stopped going, but decided to try again.)=

If you want a home-made(made from scratch) two layer Red Velvet, well my friend, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the likes of this place. Based on the reviews and their profile picture here on Unilocal and after calling 6(Yes, six!) different places on such short notice my dad & I order a cake from Stein’s Bakery to surprised mom. Well presented dense cake with rich icing that they had in stock and ready to go last minute! We made it our own by topping it with decorative flowers and lettering. I wasn’t expecting it to look like the profile pic but that was just fine with me cause the taste alone will makes me want to come back to get another one for my birthday next month. Plus, if I give them more than 5 mins next time, I might just get that profile pic cake. Haha!

Oh sweet heavens! Their cheese pockets must be baked by angels who descend from the clouds above to grace us mortals with a taste of non-earthy paradise. They truly are amazing. The cakes and cookies are the cat’s whiskers. If I need a sugar pick me up, I’ll be here.

Let me start by saying I HATE white cake! My husband on the other hand loves white cake. For his 50th B-Day party I ordered white cake. I tasted their butter cream frosting and it was tooooo sweet for our taste. In a bind(with only 3 days till the party) and with my nephew’s suggestion I ordered white cake, cream cheese frosting with strawberry filling. He said it would be like a strawberry cheese cake-cake. It was DELICIOUS!!! Super moist(not like other white cakes) and everything was perfect! The cake design was beautiful! It was a huge success/rave at the party! (Black/blue/white cake picture) Thank you Stein’s and Juana!

Ordered Petit Fours for a Lingerie shower and they were a hit — perfect portion for each girl, moist, delicious and decorated to match the theme! I had the option of chocolate and vanilla, and choose to split the order half-and-half. The vanilla far surpassed the chocolate in taste, but neither was disappointing. The pink and black corsets that styled each cake were also very cute and tied the theme of party together perfectly. I would highly recommend using Stein’s for any special occasion, themed party or if you’re just in the mood for a great piece of cake.
