A diamond in the rough. Well, maybe more like a pebble in the mud. I love this place. They only sell beer in cans as their taps don’t work but you can also bring your own bottles and buy their $ 3 set ups. They have some Squirt and Coca-Cola in their fridge to accompany your booze of choice. Cash only. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff and clientele. I looks like a «locals only» kind of place from the outside but once you pass the decrepit façade you enter a realm of joy and jubilee.

This place, in my experience, is very friendly. Warning – it is not a full bar: just beer.(and wine, I guess?) Welcoming staff there, though, and friendly regulars. Its totally scary looking from the outside but fits like an old sneaker. Definitely put it on your list if you’re trying to impress someone with your knowledge of Dallas Dives.

A bar that opens at 9am on a Saturday? Yes please. This was bar #2 in our AM pub crawl. None of us had ever been there before, and that’s probably because of the neighborhood. Sketchy, and I think this bar has been around a million years and never updated. I loved everything about this bar, though. True dive bar complete with a pool table and juke box. This place is cash only and beer only, but you can bring in your own liquor.

I’m not sure how much this has changed since I wandered in that fateful Saturday morning in late September 2011. It was 9:30AM and there was a man outside asleep, 2 men inside and 1 woman working behind the bar. They had Budweiser, Bud Light, Miller Light and maybe Coors on tap. The ceiling was falling down in spots and the pool table was 2 sizes too small and was about as level as the dude putting in Skynard requests at the internet jukebox. The group I was with left after we downed our pitchers, but I’m glad I got to experience the early morning starlight before it gets run over with hipsters looking 2 be auth. I think this place got bought and is under new mgmt that is trying to revitalize that block around Elm and Carol(the It’ll Do Club is back open as some house/disco dance hall). It used to be open at 7am, 7 days a week, but I guess clearer heads have prevailed. Glad I went here once.
