Treasure near fair park. Great local art all over, Austin feel, good prices and good jazz on the right nights.

How long have I been hanging out here? Since they served coffee and you could do laundry at Bar of Soap. BOOM! 20 Aging Hipster Points for me. What can I say about Amsterdam? Well, there’s always something going on and it’s a great neighborhood bar with great prices, great bartenders, a really awesome patio, cool events(weekly free live jazz), a really laid back vibe in a very walkable neighborhood. Even better, I’ve never had a problem bringing in food from one of the Expo restaurants or having something delivered while the bar kept the drinks coming. I love that they have that type of relationship with their neighbors to make the experience that much sweeter. PS, I still miss them serving coffee. Their cappuccino back in the day was tha bomb.

Stopped in here for a beer after having a flight at Craft & Growler and was very happy with the atmosphere. My friend’s and I were the only customers, but the space still felt welcoming despite being empty. The bartender was also very nice and helpful. I wish I had known how awesome the patio was. Unfortunately, I was stuck inside because went on a cold day, or else I would have stayed at Amsterdam Bar all day!

I love this place with my everything. Seriously, I am considering asking them if they will let me have my wedding here. It is never too crowded,(unless you go on Jazz night… and even then not too bad) the bartenders are always friendly, and it is the perfect quiet neighborhood bar. I rarely go anywhere else.

Monday night Jazz Night is one if the best things going in Dallas, very authentic, no douchebags. My is the best bartender in Dallas. She has an incredible memory. She remembers your name, your drink, the ages of your children… A real«neighborhood bar» where everybody knows your name.

CLOSED The back patio is beautiful, the patrons are chill, the drinks are cold. I love this place. ‘My’ is my favorite bar tender, she always keeps a conversation going and suggests wonderful cocktail options. Great for groups or to chat with a date one on one.

Oh, Lord. My best friend lives within walking distance of this fine establishment.. . which is the best, and the worst, thing that has ever happened to me. If you come around here directly after work, there’s not really going to be anyone there. Which I think is sort of perfect. I like drinking in public, but I don’t usually like the other people who also like drinking in public, until I’ve already been drinking, and Amsterdam is ideal for that. The bartenders are friendly(maybe a little too friendly, but I’m still working that out — let’s not talk about it). You can order food from Pizza Lounge and bring it over. They sometimes will walk it over if they’re not too busy. Everything is pretty cheap. No frills, dude. The back outdoor area is sort of like your hip redneck uncle’s backyard, and I really dig it. There’s plenty of seating. There’s also a small front patio that’s great for people watching, but is usually taken up by the regulars. Summary: my favoritest dive bar in all the land.

The Amsterdam is a quaint and quiet little bar across from Fair Park. It has the typical neighborhood bar feel to it but mixed with a hipster vibe. I can’t say I like it but I can’t say I hate it. The drink prices are average for the area and they seem proud of the concoctions they make on premises… something called«cocktails on tap». It seemed like the bar staff was hard pressed to make you feel welcome and if you aren’t a regular, good luck fitting in. It won’t be my go to spot but if there are no other options, it will do.

INRESPONSETOOWNERCOMMENT; Online it says you have food so pardon me for assuming. Evidently it USED to be a good place but now it sucks. The Bartender was still ignoring us even though there was only 2 people in the entire restaurant. Your business is horrible and you seem to be in denial. I suspect it won’t be around much longer. Many places in town have more beers on draft so that means nothing to me. — — — — — — — — — — — — — I had been looking forward to checking this place out for a year. I heard they had good dutch bar snacks and great cocktails. I finally came on a Saturday afternoon and we sat ourselves while the bartender flirted with 2 girls that were talking on and on about nothing. We waited about 15 minutes before getting up to go to the bar after assuming he was never going to ask us what we wanted. So i go up to the bar and interrupt their meaningless conversation to ask for a cocktail… but they had no bottled cocktails nor any list of cocktails they could make. They had a pineapple sitting on the counter but the bartender said they had no fresh juices. i guess that one is just to keep up the appearance of a real bar? It seems to me that the only thing they have is a large beer selection but I don’t drink much beer so I guess I will never come back here again. This is the worst experience i’ve ever had in a bar. They also had no food of any sort. This place is a joke. Their phone number doesn’t even work and hasn’t for several months at least i guess that’s supposed to make them cool? Losers. I have been to Amsterdam and it’s a hell of alot better than this rathole.

My favorite bar in Dallas. They have great draught beers, and their bartenders can whip up a mean cocktail. In fact, if a bartender named Sheldon is working, order a mixed drink and watch the man work. He’s from an era where bartenders were as much showmen, as they were people who served alcohol. You’ll feel compelled to tip a lot. And you should! The big draw for most is jazz night(Mondays at 10PM). I love it too, and try to go as often as I can. There’s always a lot of energy and excitement. And a lot of people. Get there early if you care about finding a seat indoors, but keep in mind they have an expansive patio out back. It’s a great place to spend a lazy night under the stars!

if you are out on a monday night, enjoy live music, and are even slightly adventurous GO. HERE. NOW. great beers, great bar tenders(i recognized a couple from places like the old monk and the londoner) greeeeeat music. also pretty chill vibe. i am always so jealous of the people on the great first dates, having a kickass time enjoying each other, listening to music, and are all around stoked on life. that’s the vibe here. if you’re into that, then why haven’t you gone yet!?? (I added in the slightly adventurous because it is so close to fair park you get the occassional homeless person, but hey. give him a dollar. or a beer. because peace and love, that’s why! oh and there are hipsters)

Great place but how does it keep its door open? I’m def not a regular, I’d like to be but nothing really brings me to this side of town… A few decent beers, a nice big back patio, but unless your in the area, or at one of my faves, pizza lounge a couple doors down there’s not much here that warrants a trip. The patios is def nice to kick back and relax with some good convo, it’s never too loud. We plan to revisit on a folk or jazz night and see what it’s like then.

A tiny little outside porch, so we didn’t venture very far in. They carried Woodchuck’s pear cider, which I was happy about, and we chatted outside, crammed into that little booth of a porch, trying to calm down our barking dogs, and holding an argument/discussion that involved Frank, our local friendly bartender. They also have comedy nights and jazz nights, which I will definitely have to check out, but I liked the cozy and amble-y feel of this place.

Amsterdam has a kind of siren song effect on me. I arrive early to not miss anything, and end up staying waaaay past my bedtime enjoying the company of new friends(previously known as strangers). The bar itself is very inviting, with cute décor that’s not cheesy, and a big long bench seating table along one wall that is perfect for drinking and chatting with friends. The drinks were cheap the night I was there(Monday 8pm), so I got away with 3 – 4 double wells for about $ 20(plus tip). While the bar was a legitimate ghost town pre 10pm, around then it began to fill up with folks who had wandered down to listen to the free jazz. The music was great, and the crowd super friendly. The staff were also quite sweet, quick, and knew how to woo a new customer with strong drinks. The glassware was also reasonably classy(actually made of glass), which made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Bonus points for a clean bathroom with toilet paper! The patio out back is at least twice the size of the bar interior, but at present it’s a bit cold to be hanging out outside. Summertime, I will be back for you back patio!

Hey everybody, this little place is awesome – I’ve rarely seen it packed. Maybe you people just don’t know about it much, or whatever. But go here! Huge outdoor patio behind with good ambiance, lighting, etc. Bartenders have always been cool and friendly – I went there with a friend who asked if they had wine and the bartender kinda laughed and said, «No!». That’s my kind of place – haha! Live, REAL Jazz on Monday nights, 10pm. Worth it!

I have neglected poor Amsterdam Bar. I went this past weekend and couldn’t help notice the place looked less cluttered. I’m not even sure what was missing, but the vibe of the place seemed simpler. If that even makes sense. I met two new bartenders, and both were just as helpful as Sheldon always is. You can tell them what you are the in the mood for, and they always have recommendations. I love that sitting at the bar you can have conversations with the bartenders or other people at the bar. It’s a very friendly and welcoming environment. I will be sure that my next visit is very soon. PS — the lambic banana beer is no more. After 2 years of asking for it I was finally told it had been two years since they had it. Sigh.
