I absolutely adore this place. I frequently visit and have the fabulous employees make a board for me to enjoy over a bottle of wine. The customer service is phenomenal. They will customize your board to your taste and provide detailed descriptions of what you are tasting. Props to the fabulous employees. The cheese is FANTASTIC! So much variety and opportunity to try new things. I would highly recommend stopping in for a lovely wine and cheese evening at an affordable price.

Attention cheese snobs — THISSTOREISFORYOU. Whenever I’m entertaining and want to impress, I stop by Scardello for my charcuterie board needs. The staff is always really friendly, and best of all, helpful. I’ve tried a handful of samples before, and no one batted an eye in annoyance. There are soooo many options at Scardello that I’ve resorted to writing down the ones I really enjoyed so that my next visit is easier(i.e., I’ll ask for less samples… maybe). I’m a stiff cheese fan. I even love cheese so much that I can eat regular blocks of cheddar cheese on the norm. If you feel the same love for cheddar cheese, some of my recent favs have been the Rob Ander Gouda, the Stag White Cheddar, and the Cottonwood River Cheddar. In addition to cheese, Scardello has a small selection of meats(small, but fine — hello, quality over quantity). The duck salami is zeee best! Could it get any better??? Yes. Apparently this place also hosts events, cheese classes and the such. I’m waiting, and yes, hinting, that maybe one day I’ll have a date here soon. :)

I first became knowledgeable of this place when a winery that I patronize offered their cheese trays and I tried one. It was delicious, so I eventually made my way to their retail space on Oak Lawn, close to Lucky’s if you are familiar with their location. I was very impressed by the level of service and the knowledge that was imparted to me on my visit. I am not an expert of cheeses by any means, so their patience with my amateur level of knowledge was much appreciated. They guided me to a few selections that were wonderful and were a hit with my guests at Christmas time. It was truly refreshing to find such a gem in our city, I regret it took me so long to try them!

I really can’t get enough of this place. I’ve attended two classes and each time was a unique and interesting experience. One of the things I love about this place is you can just drop in, talk to one of their people, tell them about what kind of cheese you like and they’ll custom make you a board right there. I also love the wines, accessories, chocolates, and meats they have for sale around the shop. I am always recommending this place to people who love cheese and those who just don’t know how much they love cheese. Parking is never amazing, but it’s never stopped me from going.

Had a really fun intimate experience for the Spanish wine & cheese night on 12⁄10! My hubby surprised me which made it even better as I was there for an office Christmas party outing. Space is limited but well worth the time and investment. The menu(for taking notes) helped me keep track of what I liked best — and most of it was exceptionally good! The owner did a great job talking about the cheese and his sommelier paired the wines perfectly! It only took about 1.5 hours but I left satisfied and armed with some new knowledge. Definitely worth a try for my fellow cheese lovers!

Dakota is well versed with abundant knowledge. Splendid customer service. And the wine, is delicious. I lean on the tables edge, drawn over my cheese plate, in love.

This is heaven for cheese lovers. They have a pretty diverse selection of cheeses, and their staff are very helpful with guiding you to one that you’ll like. I found a couple that was just incredible. They also have great sandwiches that uses some of the cheese they sell as well as classes and tastings throughout the month. It’s a great place to go sample cheeses while hanging out with friends.

Great little spot. Tried a sandwich and a ploughman’s lunch. Both were lovely. The staff are great and personalize the selection based of what you like. Lots of cheeses to choose from and they know the stories behind them all — a plus to have knowledgeable staff to assist. Good wine selection to go with cheeses and lots of interesting and delicious items on sale to go with the cheeses you may purchase to tale home with you

The owners/employees here seem to be really knowledgeable about their cheeses! The place isn’t huge, but I was shocked it wasn’t busier considering how good the sandwich was. One of the guys preparing sandwiches was really sweet and even brought over some samples of a butter he liked for us to try. My only regret is that I wasn’t there after work so that I could indulge in some of the wines they had! They also invited us for one of their classes/lectures, and if I were in town longer I definitely would have wanted to go. I only really detracted a star for 2 reasons – 1. When I asked to substitute one type of cheese for another, the cashier told me he could do that but«he couldn’t promise it would taste good» which I found to be a little unnecessarily rude. Either do substitutions or don’t, I’m obviously asking for what I’d prefer so it would taste better to me AND2. It was a little slow… I really didn’t need my sandwich slowly headed for 15 minutes.

Everyone needs a little cheese in their lives, but for me, that was never the case when it came to blocks of cold cheese. As much as I love wine, I’ve never been one of those«wine and cheese» enthusiasts. But, after checking out Scardello’s website to see what they were all about, I learned that they offer cheese classes of all sorts. Being that my fiancé is a cheese lover, I thought this would be a nice surprise date to have with him, which it was! French wine happens to be my most favorite, so I signed us up for the French Cheese and Wine class. For $ 40 a person, it came with ten types of cheeses, along with four different wine tastings(to equal two glasses of wine). For all of this, along with a cheese expert and sommelier, I think it was definitely worth it! I learned a lot about which types of cheeses I like and don’t like. For someone that’s never been interested in cheese, we actually bought two of our favorites to take home with us at the end of the class. I thought the class was perfect for an interacting date night with other people, cheese, and wine. It looks like it could also be fun for a few of my girlfriends to attend a class together. I do recommend eating a light dinner before or after the class is over. But, if you opt for dinner after class, you may end up eating a lot of the bread at the table. I would like to come back and try some of the delicious looking sandwiches!

This is easily the best American cheese shop I have ever been in and it is one of my favorite places in Dallas to visit every time I am back home in the city for a few hours or days. The parking situation is just terrible if you aren’t close enough to über in from your hotel/office; have someone else drive you; or just walk over from the Equinox for some post-workout cheese like a real Charlie Kelly would do … cuz that’s how I found this place originally, no shame. The parking situation is a few spots out front off Oak Lawn but those are the worst since you need to wait for a traffic lull to back out onto the busy street(Cliffs notes: you will be waiting a long time until someone finally takes pity on you, stops, and holds up traffic for you.) Your other option is park round back where there isn’t enough room to maneuver if some hick with a huge monster truck parks behind you. This is Oak Lawn, your kind are not welcome here, truck people. Parking situation aside once you get in here, it is glorious heaven — if you like cheese. If you are lactose intolerant this might be like Tina Belcher’s twice-warmed over fires of Hell Jail. They have all the fix-ins besides the cheese if you are buying a lot of cheese to host a wine and cheese type of party; or just any kind of special occasion that merits wine(pretty much every occasion besides your son’s little league baseball game) and nice cheese(every occasion.) They also have the wine, but I get my wine at the Trader Joe because I buy in ridiculous bulk when I find something I like. Because you can pour wine into a soda can and that’s a pretty smart move since you don’t need to deal with a wine glass, so you can take the wine to-go in a can of Dr. Pepper anywhere you would take the can of Dr. Pepper. Frank Reynolds was a smart man. A review of just their cheeses would be a whole separate review by Unilocal’s limiting character counter on reviews but suffice it to say whether you kinda like cheese okay a bit or you have a Ph. D in cheese, you can find something exhilarating in their glass display case. But what makes it one of my favorite places in Dallas are the made-to-order artisan sandwiches for lunch. The sandwiches are only $ 8.50 and come with a small side salad. Their sandwiches bring out my inner Liz Lemon trying to locate her annual teamster sub. I take sandwiches seriously, and so does Scardello. They do not fuck around with the art of sandwich making. Subway might call their employees sandwich artists, but Scardello has what I have independently determined to be sandwich artistés and that is obviously hella better with that accent mark there, it is French. The boys behind the counter do not rush preparing the sandwich. They do it one at a time. It’s nothing like the Subway assembly line where they do it as quickly as they can to get rid of you. Here the boys pay particular and close attention to each ingredient and carefully add them in and pile them on like they are playing a game of Operation. The kitchen prep area is all out in the open. They have nothing to hide about their food or food prep, so I like how much they stand behind what they do. It’s so easy to fall in love with Scardello as a biz. The Sweet Italian is my absolute fave. This sandwich alone could stop World War III if we only give it the chance. The thinly sliced prosciutto and the decadent burrata are an excellent pairing to channel all of the elegance possible out of the realm of the savory. The fig confit is fabulous to bring the sweetness like a hooker with a heart of gold. You have not had a sandwich until you have eaten this sandwich. All hail the glow cloud, through whom made Raptor Jesus and the Sweet Italian possible. If the Sweet Italian doesn’t float your boat because the prosciutto scares you off after all those episodes of The Sopranos that took place at Satriale’s, the Mountaineer is another strong choice to bring you down to flavor town. This is one of the best grilled cheeses ever. I try to reserve a five star Unilocal rating for a biz that truly deserves it as the model of everything that makes me happy in life, like Scardello. Now don’t mind me as I Charlie Kelly gnaw through some cheese before I go on a date. How much cheese is too much cheese?

This is a really cool place for you cheese lovers. I am a fan of(most) cheeses and I was excited to have lunch here with a good friend. We were thinking about doing a cheese board, but we got so caught up with chatting we lost track of time. Oh well, save it for the next visit! I had the Sweet Italian and she had the Mountaineer and we actually split our sandwiches so we could try both of them. The Mountaineer was gooey and cheesy and melted to perfection with the bread being oh so crisp. The ingredients in the Sweet Italian was like a perfect marriage of flavors. I didn’t realize prosciutto and burrata and fig confit would go so well together. I wasn’t a big fan of the bread, but at least the other components were delicious. A mini salad accompanies the sandwich which is a nice light crunch.

Scardello is located in a plaza that you wouldn’t give a second look too, but, I sure am glad I did. As I entered the shop, I was immediately greeted and my attention quickly drew to their amazing cheese case. The gentleman gave me different suggestions on what his fav was and what was most popular. I ended up ordering the Mountaineer, which is a combination of 3 swiss mountain cheeses. It was amazing — melted on sourdough, the cheese oozed all over the sides, a true grilled cheese. I ended up picking all the cheese off the paper and eating it because it was that delicious. While I was waiting, he approached me and asked if I wanted to try any samples. I was in no position to turn down samples of their delicious cheese– from gouda, to blue cheese, to their fresh peach goat cheese that is made by local farmers. Here at Scardello, they sell their cheese by the pound. If I lived in Dallas, I would have definitely ordered a bunch. They also do cheese and wine tastings so you can enjoy different varieties. Great service, great good, great place to take a first date or casual meet-ups with friends.

The staff here is so enthusiastic about cheese, you just can’t help but be drawn in to all their cheesy excitement! Seriously, they know what they’re doing here, and by the time you walk away, you’ll have learned something about cheese. It’s about the best cheese you can find in Dallas. Artisan cheese is expensive, but when it’s properly aged and stored, it’s worth what you’ll spend. If you’re cooking with these artisan cheeses, it should be your most important ingredient. Spending $ 15 on real Gruyère for your potato/turnip gratin recipe is worth it. Imagine a day where you’ve already gone shopping for your normal food, already have your bar stocked, already have your pantry set up for days and weeks ahead. Stop in to Scardello for ideas and sample flavors to womp up your next meal with cheeses from around the world.

This place was a fabulous find. They have a large variety of cheeses and a knowledgeable staff. We went to one of the cheese and wine classes and had a fantastic time. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of cheese we got to taste and learned a lot!

This place stinks… of delicious cheese goodness! I was so happy to have found this place in Dallas as one of my favorite places in NYC was Murray’s Cheese Shop; similar to this one. They had a large array of cheese to choose from, definitely not the kind you find at Albertsons. We also enjoyed looking at all of their other speciality items like salts, jams, honey, and, prepare yourself… LAMBBACON. What? Yes. I went there. I said it. Lamb bacon. The staff was attentive, patient, and super nice. It was a nice open space and we loved browsing and tasting all the different cheese that were there. Prices are a little steep but like I said, these are all specialty cheeses. Highly recommended. Great for date night!

I’ve been here for their sandwiches, their Saturday wine tasting, and to one of their cheese classes. The sandwiches are absolutely amazing, but I feel like they never make enough(and I eat like a bird). They sometimes run out of of their normal sandwich bread so you may or may not be stuck with a substitute baguette-like-super-hard type of bread. I am a huge fan of their Saturday wine tastings because you get 4 glasses of wine, usually 2 reds and 2 whites, as well as 4 different types of cheese. The cheese is practically unlimited so you can keep going up there for seconds or thirds or fourths. I also went to their Chocolate, Cheese, and Bubbles class on Valentine’s Day. I didn’t feel like we got enough compared to another class like the Cheese 101. For $ 40 a person I better get more than 12 small things of cheese and chocolate as well as 4 small things of bubbles.

I’m lactose intolerant but this will be a favorite for the area. Cheese lovers! Here is your mecca! VENUE: The store itself may get missed, so look for it. There are only 2 – 3 parking spots out front, so be prepared to find street parking somewhere else and walk. When you walk into the shop you’ll note right away the meat market/fish market/(insert specialty food of choice) market vibe and feel. Very light and airy, with the smell of cheese punching you in the face as you walk in. Be prepared for it. It’s not terrible — but it’ll catch you off guard. There aren’t too many tables for seating so try and nab one fast. There’s a lot of natural lighting and everything is so aesthetically laid out. FOOD: Ordered the PEARANDPOINT with a salad, as well as the SWEETITALIAN with a side of sweet potato chips. PEARANDPOINT: Not as sweet as you’d think but still a great combination of flavors. The cheese simply gushes out when you take a bite, so hold from the bottom to keep all the cheese in. Salad was ho hum. Just a simple one of greens with dressing. Skip it and get the sweet potato chips for a nice change of pace. SWEETITALIAN: Oh my goodness gracious. The fig confit. Amazing. Just a medley of deliciousness. The prosciutto add just the right amount of saltiness to balance the sweetness of the fig. And the cheese, which you would think would be the star of this sandwich(since you know, we’re at a cheese shop), actually takes a back seat and ties in together the sweet and salty perfectly. This one was my favorite. My ONLY tiff about the sandwiches were that the bread was SUPER crunchy. Which some may enjoy– I on the other hand have sensitive gums and prefer softer bread. SERVICE: The one guy working was working extra hard. He cut the bread slices, toasted, sliced, and put together everything with care. Much appreciation goes out to that guy. Loved this place. Will come back for sure. Edit: came back again for lunch. Salad got changed up a bit. It came with dried cherries and was delish. Also. Two words that will change your dining experience here for the better: CITREAUXTRUFFLE. Just do it.
