This is my first trip back here in quite a while but I knew exactly what I wanted when I walked in the door – the Sweet Carolina pulled pork sandwich – and it was even better than I had remembered it. Large, soft bun loaded with chunks of tender pulled pork layered with a really good thinly grated coleslaw and a mustard barbecue sauce that I would take as a side anytime. At $ 6.45 that’s a bargain, even with no sides. I ordered the marinated cucumbers and onions as a side and thoroughly enjoyed them. Not to take anything away from the mustard barbecue sauce, but I also used their regular barbecue sauce as a dipping sauce for the leftover bread and meat. Good stuff!

Excelente la comida. Los empleados atentos y muy serviciales. El «spicy rice» con frijoles muy sabroso. Lo recomiendo con 5 estrellas.

I go here for the baked potato loaded with ham. I hadn’t had one in over a year so I came down from Lewisville to get my fav potato and I was not disappointed. It’s loaded with meat and I always request extra sour cream just to safe. My husband called while I was checking out and the guy at the window took his order right over the speaker phone. Super nice thing to do in the drive thru. He ordered a two meat plate with chicken and brisket and the plate was clean so it must have been good. I will be back. Hopefully it won’t be a year+ this time.

So, we decided to order Thanksgiving dinner this year from Papa’s Brothers BBQ.. We didn’t want to cook since it was just two of us, but yes, you guessed it, we wanted lots of leftovers. We got the 10 – 14 lb smoked turkey and all the sides. I can say without a doubt this was AWESOME and beyond our expectations. It tasted like we had made the food right here in our own kitchen and smoked the turkey in our green eggie thinga ma doo. The smoked turkey was flavorful and moist all the sides were like mama use to make. Choice sides like, Green bean Casserole, yams, stuffing, gravy, rolls, mac and cheese and sweeeeeet corn yum, yum. For one hundred smack a roooooos, it was the mac daddy of thanksgiving and one of the best meals I’ve ever wrap my lips around.

The barbecue sauce was bland. Not pricey but have gotten more for my money at other places.

Reviewed all other«say-so» behind Pappas BBQ… definitely sounded like a risk-taker. I decided to go for chopped beef sandwich and chopped beef stuffed potato. Initially it smelled great and seasonings were right but I noticed there was a pass on meat to fat ratio. So I contacted the manager«Juan» and he listened, explained, and re-arranged my intention. Apparently I had not been asking for the correct«chop» on my diet cheat day: I asked for chopped beef sandwich(should have been lean brisket with sauce on the side); also wanted chopped beef stuffed potato(should have asked for no dry chopped brisket and only lean chopped again with sauce on the side to ensure no fat)… I now know the bbq terminology lol… but the emphasis of wanting brisket and not fat can be accomplished with these terms. I personally do not prefer 40 plus percent of ANY dish being loaded with fat. Juan fixed it with no bad vibes, and when he received an update, of course he was just as pleasant. Everybody that approaches, be specific and its a perfect vendor!!!

Service was good other than the fact the lady kinda rushed us through the line. Chicken and cheese fries was awesome..

First time at here… I was in a rush at lunch time so I decided to use the drive-thru. First time and last time :(. My potato was dry(not enough cheese) also cold. I asked if they sale lemonade because it was not listed in the menu and Gloria(the drive-thru server) said yes. I asked to add one to my order, however, when I saw a jumbo cup I was a little irritated because she should have asked me which size I wanted before giving and charging me for a size I don’t normally get. booo! Plus no utensils were included. First and last time there.

Solid Texas BBQ joint. The half a chicken is the best deal here. It’s comes with two sides and I recommend the side salad it is located among four other Pappa restaurants. Mexican. Seafood and a high end steak house. You can’t go wrong.

This place is delicious, only reason I took a star due to many sides being sold out. It really didn’t matter because the sides we had were still crazy. There was a sampler platter f I r less than $ 20 and when I tell you I was stuffed(with a doggie bag) I think the wheeled me out… I was dazed by the brisket halo. Do it for yourself Texas, your mouth, wallet, and belly will thank you.

As far as I know Pappas is the only place to serve beef ribs in DFW. So I drove the 30 mins to get beef ribs and promised myself not to compare them to County Line in Austin. I ordered a full rack($ 30) with no sides and was ready when i arrived. Staff was pleasant. Ribs had no bbq oder. Packed in tin foil container they were barely warm. Very greasy and meaty and tender, lacking deep smoke flavor. Could have been boiled. Since it was takeout i didn’t sample till i got home. In a year i will probably have forgotten what a poor experience this was and may end up there again. This restaurant has nosedived since i first ate here. Now will somebody point me to another joint with really great beef ribs? Not driving to Austin for dinner!

It’s about average, but with the pricing, it takes it slightly below. I ordered the three meat platter so I could get a thorough taste of what they have to offer. The platter provided sausage, ribs, and brisket. The sausage was good, nothing amazing, but it was cooked decent and had decent flavor. The ribs were probably the best of the three, fairly tender and had good flavor. The brisket was pretty terrible. It was dry and didn’t really have any flavor. Pouring bbq sauce on it didn’t really help. How much did I pay for that plus two sides and a drink? About $ 20. I can go to many other places and get far better bbq at that price. This type of bbq should be more along the price range of 10 – 15 max. On the upside, we were able to get our food fast and the place was clean…

Okay Pappas, seriously, stop being so damn delicious AND fast service! This is I believe my third time I ate here(OHNO Im loosin count! Lol) but seriously each time I’ve called in to place a pickup, its been less than 10 mins ready & each burger has been made PERFECTLY. The bread is so fresh; it is soft and literally everything MELTS in your mouth(am I repeating myself from previous post?) Everything is FRESH; forget your drive thru for $ 8 a meal, get pappas for $ 2 extra dollars and LARGER portions! I am a 5 ft female and I am addicted to these HUGE burgers!(i used to hate burgers– i only liked chicken sandwiches) their burgers so big i wish they were smaller so i can at least eat 50% of my fries(left overs are good tho). Anyways I wanted a cheesecake but god my body cant handle all this food but it craves it so bad… ugh do you guys have a kids meal? Lol. Seriously pappas you were on my mind for 3 days before I decided to finally crave and now Im writing a review, AGAIN. Props to everyone!!!

The service was great, however I don’t feel like I got much value out of what I ordered. I ordered 16 breakfast tacos(8– Brisket, Egg, Cheese and 8– Bacon, Egg, Cheese). The total was $ 47… That’s $ 3 per taco(avg)… The brisket taco was good, but the bacon taco was below average. I probably won’t go back due to the value. If you have a lot of money, try the brisket, egg and cheese.

I’ve got to agree with the less than spectacular reviews. Nice place, clean, friendly service. But the BBQ itself… it’s just not all that. And for the price it ought to be. Funny thing about their sauce. It just doesn’t work on anything but beef ribs. Don’t know why, but there was something about the ribs and the sauce that worked.

I was pretty excited to try this restaurant, however was sadly disappointed! The food was mediocre, and pricey! I didn’t realize it was more of a fast food restaurant. We spent about $ 25 for two meals(1 of which was just sides). The sides were cold and lacked any flavor, and I wasn’t impressed with the ribs! Not sure I’ll ever go back.

No no no. Just no. I came to Dallas a few days ago and this was my first dinner experience. The place is HUGE and I expected a real restaurant from the outside. As we pulled into the parking lot and saw the drive-thru, I had a feeling we were in trouble. My colleague said she always saw people go there and figured it had to be good. First off, the sweet tea. It had a funk. Seriously. I love sweet tea. love it. But this was perhaps the worst — yes, it was the worst — I have ever had. You know when you’re a kid and you go to a party and there’s the punch that they add soda to for the fizz? This was that. Except in sweet tea. It literally tasted so odd that I couldn’t decide if I hated it or just really REALLY didn’t like it. I’m still not sure. I had two meats — the pulled pork and the brisket. Both were bad. Sorry. they just were. It tasted like it was mass produced and had no flavor. The BBQ sauce wasn’t a hit either(for me or my colleague). The best part of the meal was the cole slaw. It actually was good. The workers were friendly, too. Just the food. sorry… was awful.

Pappas Bar-B-Q is the Pappa’s restaurant group’s barbecue entry. Although unlike exceptional their Pappadeaux & Pappa’s Brothers Steakhouse chains, Pappas Bar-B-Q is good at most(not great). My Overall Rating — 3 Stars(Atmosphere, Service, Food) Atmosphere — The one thing I really like about Pappas Bar-B-Q is that is actually very spacious & casual. There’s also a unique parking lot that has a row of covered parking which makes it popular for car enthusiast meet ups. It’s nice & clean & really is a nice place. 1 Star. Service — its counter service, but the staff is friendly. There’s actually a very large menu for a barbecue restaurant, but you basically place your order in the cafeteria style line, get your order, pay, & sit to eat. Once you’re done someone will bus your plates too. No issues here. 1 Star. Food — Years ago I had multiple bad experiences here & vowed never to come back. I decide to give them a chance due to Christopher L’s UYE and I was pleasantly surprised. The good: HUGE cups for drinks. I’m talking Rout 44 oz. size cups for fountain drinks. Also, the prices are relatively good, especially with some places charging $ 10 for a HALF pound. I went with the Sweet Caroline pulled pork sandwich. The pork was tender & moist, but it was a tad salty for my taste. The coleslaw was a tad too sweet, and my potato salad was good but not great. But the portions are large and overall a good value for good barbecue. 1 Star. Will I Return? — Only if I have no other option. Good doesn’t cut it. You have to be great. DFW has had a little mini renaissance when it comes to barbecue, and there are much better places. We’re not close to the quality of Central Texas, but it’s good enough that Pappas Bar-B-Q wouldn’t make any of my «top» lists. No Stars. My Unilocal Rating Scale(Sum of all parts): 1 Star — Atmosphere — Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I’ll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star — Service — You can have a great meal with bad service. But that’s also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It’s important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars — Food — I’ll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it’s really all about the food. 1 Star — Will I come back? — If I know for a fact I’ll return, I’ll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food(2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Unilocal score.

Love this place. This is my go-to lunch place because I work in the area. All their meats are seasoned and cooked perfectly. The burgers are one of the juiciest I’ve had and their stuffed potatoes are excellent. The only thing I don’t like about this place are their sides. Besides the fries, everything else is kind of bland. It seems like all the good sides have pork in them which I don’t eat. Hopefully one day they will change that.

Papa Bros BBQ has a good selection of meats. I would say the taste of their meats are average. The brisket is okay but the turkey is pretty good. The sides that this place offers are horrid. The cole slaw, potato salad, side salad, and many other sides are just not appealing. I think cafeteria food in elementary school had better sides. The side my husband enjoys is their hand cut fries. My husband always gets the cheeseburger which comes with two patties. I usually get a turkey or roast beef plate.
