I decided to try Osgood O’neil after reading positive reviews on Unilocal.I called asking for the absolute best stylist at all 3 salons for curly/wavy hair. I told the receptionist that my hair is difficult(but amazing), and that I am picky. My haircuts are extremely important because I wear my hair naturally and how it behaves is dependent on how it is cut. After asking around, she recommended Jim at this location(Lovers). I went in with long hair I was perfectly happy with. It was just wavy, not too full, and not in my face anymore than it has to be(I have big hair and a small face). I only needed my split ends trimmed. I walked out with wet hair, but as soon as it dried, I realized it was basically a mullet, which is completely unmanageable. It is way too short and way too big in the front(because that is what happens when a huge chunk of layers is cut way too short), but it is still really long in the back. It almost looks like two separate haircuts and could not be more unflattering to my face. Also, because so many layers were cut, the bottom is too thin. It is impossible to get my hair out of my face without putting it up. This is literally my worst nightmare and without a doubt, the worst haircut I’ve gotten in years. He cut so much off I’m pretty sure it will take years to grow back. Before he ever started cutting, I was adamant about only wanting the minimum cut off, and I explained that if my layers get too short, my hair gets poofy, so I’m not sure why anyone in their right mind would do this. Jim did comment that my layers appeared heavy and in my face. He said he was going to lighten them up and get them out of my face. I did not realize that was code for cutting several inches off and making them fro out. I tried to warn him that cutting them too short could make it worse. He obviously didn’t listen. I called to complain as soon as my hair dried, and I went back in to talk to Bruce, the owner. He could not explain to me why Jim would give me such an awful haircut. All he could say was, «Well, Jim has never cut your hair before, so he didn’t know it would react like this.» But I warned Jim it would do this if he cut it too short. While I like some short layers around my face, I cannot handle having such a large volume of hair in the front cut so short. It gets way too full and in my face. Also, as the premier expert on wavy/curly hair, shouldn’t he have known better? He saw and felt my hair, and I told him not to cut too many short layers because then it would look like a mullet. He did exactly what I was most afraid of and exactly what I told him not to do. All Bruce could do was give me a couple products that just make my hair feel icky and get tangly after the first day(I only wash my hair every 3 – 4 days). I am not sure why people like this salon. Honestly, if your hair is easy enough for these stylists to cut without any problems, then I think you could probably be happy elsewhere for a lot less. Yes, this salon is beautifully designed. They are really nice and certainly act like they know what they are doing. They don’t. I am also annoyed that Jim expected me to change my normal routine. I cannot style my hair as well as he did, and what he asked me to do is a pain and a waste of time. I previously got frequent compliments on my hair without any effort at all. I’m not sure why he felt I needed to become more high maintenance. Now I have to apply 2 products and comb my hair and pull it and shake it, and it STILL looks bad and is too poofy!

I went in to get my hair dyed on 2 January 2016. When I called to make the appointment, I told the rep that it was my first time at the salon. I scheduled my appointment and the whole process appeared pretty straight forward and in line with prior experiences at other salons. Then the day of the appointment and things start to go awry. I showed up early and was taken for my appointment about ten minutes late and then sat in the chair alone for another twenty minutes. So at this point I was already annoyed. The dying went ok, but at the end I was taken to stand with brushes, styling tools and gels and said here is where things are do your hair. I cannot begin to describe how appalled I was at this moment — or maybe horrified is a better way to put it. After drying my own hair, I went to the front desk to pay and informed the woman how this was completely unsat. If the person booking my appointment would have informed me that I had to not only schedule but pay for a blowout separately, then I would have schedule the appointment. I was told that this was a mistake and the salon’s policy. The woman said that she would follow up with the manager but no one ever bothered to call me either. I will not return to this salon and I do not recommend it at all. For a salon claiming to be a high end experience, they fall substantially short.

I heard about Jim from my daughter. A friend showed up at work with the ‘best layered long cut of her life’. So I grew my hair for 3 months and flew to Dallas last weekend with an appointment for Saturday morning. My goal was a long cut that worked for my age, hair type, lifestyle and idiosyncrasies. Jim did an amazing job of fixing the styling challenges that have been frustrating me for a couple of years – a soft fringe that always works! Layers that fall in a way that encourages just the right curls! The weight is gone without losing much length! I just may be scheduling regular quarterly trips to Osgood Oneill salon on Lovers Lane so he can maintain it for me.

Just had my first appointment with Damian to fix a color job from another salon. He was professional, honest, and meticulous with his work. I came in with oddly striped highlights that showed lines of demarcation(my natural hair is black and the highlights were blonde, so the lines were harsh), and Damian added more highlights to get rid of the stripes and soften up the look. Damian was careful about which pieces he highlighted to avoid damaging my hair, because the previous color job was only a week ago. He was upfront about how long it would take to get the hair I had originally wanted, but assured me that once I had some new growth to work with, we would be right on track. As a bonus, the amount I ended up paying was lower than what I had been quoted at the consultation. That showed me that the pricing was fair and tailored to service, and I appreciate that in any business. Looking forward to my next appointment! Other points: –Friendly and courteous staff, relaxed atmosphere –Massage chairs that fully recline at the shampoo station –Great drying bars stocked with products

The three stars is truly no stars. Bruce osgood cut my face framing 3−4″ shorter on the left and totally cut bangs back into the crown of my head on left side. Forced me into the cut — just went for blow dry. This is the worst hair mistake in 30 years and he barred me from the salon! Although he may be owner and instructor he needs instruction. He just dug into my hair, and didn’t listen to what I wanted. It will take. 8 months to grow out. Incidentally, he charges 100. 00 for hair cut. No way to treat a customer at all — Bar me from a salon whereby he should have been eager to help correct over time. He trains students!

No matter how much they try to push Liz, their«master colorist,» don’t take the bait. First, the entire highlight will range from her her talking about having to take care of her brothers kids since the mom is «unstable»(I know the whole story by know after having to sit through it) to how much she hates living in Dallas and can’t wait to move. Then, you will ask her specific questions regarding the specifics of her pattern/color and she will surely reply(every time) «this is the way I’ve been doing it for 32 years!!!» Without going into further details, I left the salon clearly unhappy. The staff and manager were awesome but requested I have the color fixed at the same location – where I’d likely have to see the pitiful Liz again. I understand the«we’re all a family» mentality, but my experience there with Liz was just so incredibly unprofessional for a stylist at such an upscale, reputable salon, I just couldn’t go back.

This hen coop is tops for color. This bear-cat is partial to a particular shade of blonde, and the dolls at Osgood get it right every time. I book Monty when he’s available. He’s the cat’s meow! They treat your like a star and you leave feeling like one. Their prices reflect that. Call for a reservation a few weeks in advance if you can as it fills up lickity-split.

I love my stylist Colby. He gets straight to the point and has helped me grow my hair out with a nice style. When Emma at the Knox location ruined my hair I went to Colby to get it fixed. It’s been almost a year with Colby. He’s so good at his craft and truly cares about his clients.

I have been a client of Kennedy’s since her foray into being a colorist and I will never trust anyone else with my hair color again. It took me three years in Dallas to find her, and my loyalty will last forever! She can and has done anything and everything to my hair. The best part is that it never feels damaged after I visit here, which considering the processes she has put my hair through at my request– is no small accomplishment. She is the best of the best and Osgood is lucky to have her! The entire salon is comfortable, clean and upscale. The music they play makes the place fun and funky and I love to visit!

This upscale mothership of their local chain has won a few awards. Rustic warehouse design chic has a dripping with gold feel. It ain’t cheap but you’ll feel real special. Appointment necessary during any busy season that would require Highland Park housewives to get gussied up.
