This is the holy grail for sushi fiends. Incredibly fresh AND perfectly priced. What looks like a hole in the wall has proven over and over to be an easy choice for my monthly craving. Big fan of the Ladybird roll and the $ 0.99 miso! Only draw back: Not much inside seating space(it is a market/grocery store as well) — better suited for take out or a quick lunch. Tasty nonetheless!

Come here for tasty bites at a great price. Don’t expect fast or friendly service though. In life, you usually can only pick two from good, fast, or cheap. Food was great and very reasonably priced. Delicious hand made gyoza. Super fresh fish in my Nigiri. Salmon was very nice and real crab was a treat. Curry rice was generously portioned with nicely balanced flavors. Order took too long to be made. I got some attitude from the kitchen when I asked if the order was ready. «We’re busy», with a look of contempt, was what I received. This really upset me, as it’s unnecessary to speak to customers in this tone. Lady behind the counter was impatient and was rude when I asked questions about the food menu. Really failed in the customer service department. I wonder if complacency makes them this way.

Although it’s a small place, it has a lot of authentic Japanese merch. The people were friendly and asked if I needed anything. I ate some ramen, which was not the best ramen but it was pretty good and was only 5.99! So all in all it was a good experience!

Good no-frills cheap sushi. The waiting line on New Year’s eve day was 30 minutes for my order, but what I had was good and fresh and cheap. Not fancy. Gotta bus your own dishes. But a really good value. I had the combo sushi– and the fish was super fresh. Pretty good sushi rice, and I’m a stickler for the rice. I also had the squid salad– tender squid and fresh like the sea. I don’t know that I’d use Kazy’s as a Japanese market for anything other than fish– not so much there– mostly frozen, although they did have fresh mochi for New Year’s there. But if you are in the neighborhood looking for sushi, I recommend this place.

This review is not about the restaurant portion of the store. If you want to just eat some cheap sushi at the restaurant, this is fine. If you want to make your own sushi or sashimi at home, then keep searching for some other place. What I was hoping to find was a nice Japanese market with decent selection of sushi grade seafood. I came here specifically because I read reviews saying you can buy fresh fish here, where many Japanese restaurants source their fish. I’m originally from the West Coast, so I’m used to go making my own chirashi and sashimi meals at home from fish I buy at Japanese markets. Kazy cannot help you there unless you are only interested in salmon and tuna. This is not really a grocery store. They sell knick knacks like bowls and some frozen stuff.(But they do have some cute pottery and bowls) Most of their fish is only available to commercial buyers. On the day I went, the only fish they sell directly to consumers for taking home was some very old and not at all fresh looking tuna and salmon. If you’re looking to buy anything beyond those the most mainstream fishes then you’re out of luck. At least 99 Ranch also sells octopus, squid, and even occasionally some uni. Whole Foods offers some limited selection of sushi grade fish. Ultimately, you can get the same things at other grocery stores without making a stop here(because it offers no additional selection) if it’s out of your way.

Oh, velvety, buttery succulent salmon sashimi… If only I could have you to myself in my own home, instead of having to put forth this façade at public sushi restaurants that I am composed and calm while enjoying your awesomeness. What’s that? You say I can? Could it be true? Answer: YES! I just recently turned on to the idea of having sushi/salmon at home. Naturally I found Kazy’s right away in all internet searches for such a thing in Dallas. Seems like everyone knows about Kazy’s but me. Not one to waste time when food is involved, I went there straightaway. What a strange location this is – tucked away at the end of Markville(off of north Greenville) dead-ending into the LBJ access road, you can’t miss the bright yellow awnings with squeezed-too-tight Arial font«GOURMET» letters printed on them. Inside is a smallish half-market, half-«chaat bar» where you *don’t* step up to the counter, but instead approach the cashier island in the middle for an order blank. They’ll make all kinds of good stuff for you and while you’re waiting, you can shop for Japanese-specific grocery items. They have lots of good stuff jammed into just a couple little aisles of shelves. Also excellent freezer section. ANYWAY, after conferring with the staff, I walked away with a lovely big ol’ portion of salmon – enough for two people and then some – for about $ 8! Also nabbed some ruby-red tuna(it was more expensive – maybe $ 11 for a sizable portion). Got home, sliced up those bad boys and had at it! Wonderful! I’ve been back a couple of times and when I leave the place I feel like I’ve stolen something. All this wonderful treasure? For usually $ 8? Ha! – okay, whatever you say, sir! I have to go now! (sounds of footfalls decrescendo into the distance, then car door slams and engines revs and speeds away…)

Didn’t expect much for what I paid. Service is a bit slow. For cheap eat and if you’re not in a hurry then it’s a pretty good lunch place around this area. Wish they make the tempura more crispy and give me a broth to dip.

Ok, I came here by chance, since I had to go to the post office nearby as it was the only one open on Saturdays. I didn’t even remember that this place was here, but driving past it, I knew I had to stop by after I was finished with my errands. So I stopped by for lunch. It’s third market, third kitchen, and third tables. So basically the market was kinda small, but it has everything you’d want in a Japanese place(at least, I’d hope so). In the middle of it all is a cashier station, and that’s where you order the food, or make your purchases. The woman behind the counter wasn’t exactly the friendliest person, but she’s not a Japanese Nazi either. She is just not the smiling, attentive kind and doesn’t make much of a conversation with customers. I looked over the menu, which is by the cashier(if you look at the menu above the kitchen, that aforementioned lady would call on you to get back to the cashier and look at the menu over there), and decided that on this chilly day, I’d get ramen. And when the ramen came out, it was just barely ok. If you’re used to getting ramen by the subway stations in Tokyo, maybe this could compare, but this is not restaurant-quality ramen. It’s the ramen of the working class, and unfortunately, after having so many bowls of better ramen bowls, this one is a miss. A bit too salty, poor choice of thin noodles, few pieces of thin and overcooked meat(and mine was even clumped, shriveled together), few pieces of veggies, and a whole lotta of liquid broth. But at, what, $ 5.99 a bowl, I guess, you get what you pay for, since most ramen bowls in this city are double the price. As it stands, I probably should have scoured the reviews and followed Tiffany D’s recommendations since her experience seems to parallel mine. I’ll have to come back to try her suggestions of the karaage chicken bites, fireball roll, miso soup, and chicken curry bowl. But yes, if you’re wanting to go out, can’t find a dining partner, need to eat something that’s different from your usual routine, and want to spend the least amount of money possible(this place is really dirt cheap), then this place could be an option — but be careful with what you order since there’s only a few things to really enjoy. Avoid the ramen.

The core of their business is wholesale fish; the top sushi chefs in the city source their fish from Kazy’s. But if you make the trip to their completely unassuming Northeast Dallas storefront, you’ll find some of the best AND definitely the most affordable sushi in Dallas. There is no flare here. The rolls are simple and the menu is traditional. The space itself is part market, part sushi counter, with fluorescent lights and all. But the moral of Kazy’s is that Sushi does not have to be served in a over-priced chic restaurant to be good, or for that matter great. At it’s roots, sushi is a simple fast food made with the freshest fish. That is what you will find Kazy’s with no apologies and none needed.

Was searching for sushi places near my apt and came across this place. Decided to try it, it’s small and quaint. The sushi was good and the prices were great. I just wish they would be a little more excited and friendly. Not that they weren’t that friendly, but perhaps because it was raining. Everyone usually gets dull in the rain. But anyway I’ll be returning again.

I LOVE this place! Seriously! I cannot get enough. It is not a restaurant first, but everyone is nice, the food is amazing, and the prices cannot be beat. I seriously have a hard time ordering just enough to eat, and always over order(though that isn’t a problem since the food keeps well). My boyfriend and I often buy the amazing fresh fish and make our own sushi at home. The quality of fish is by far the best I’ve had, and is up there with if I would’ve just caught it myself and cut it up. I cannot say enough nice things about Kazys! You’ll just have to come and try it yourself! I promise you will not be disappointed.

If you want fresh simple very inexpensive sushi… this is the place. A sushi chef recommended that I try this place to buy uni(sea urchin) in bulk for a party. They only sell it to restaurants. They don’t even sell it at their restaurant for consumption on the premises… the pic on here is old. Since Uni is in such high demand, it’s hard to find any Japanese grocery store that will sell it to the public. To be honest, if I could buy it for as cheap as the chefs at a couple of my favorite restaurants say they buy it for, I’d probably put this place out of business. Nonetheless, this is a good place to grab some fresh nigiri and a 4 piece roll or two. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here to save a few bucks, but I would come back if I were working in the area again. Looking at the photos on Unilocal, the sushi portion size has definitely gotten smaller. However, it’s still cheaper and better quality than some average local sushi bars. Don’t ask them to substitute or make anything special… it is what it is.

This place is running down! I can’t believe my order took 30 minutes to be done, and the person who came after us got their order right in front of our faces. That was not even the worse part; we asked the lady why it took so long, and she gave us a stinky attitude telling us that we ordered a lot. I mean REALLY? 5 rolls takes 30 minutes to be done? ANDWHATKINDOFCUSTOMERSERVICEISTHAT? when they done they screamed like this«HEREYOURORDER…» Sr for my language, but GO F*CKYOURSELVESWITHYOURSUSHI!

This place supplies a lot of local sushi restaurants… I first became aware of them when i saw one of their delivery trucks on the road and googled them… Then i saw the great reviews and had to try it… Thing about those reviews is that a lot of them are very old and prices have gone up quite a bit… Granted the prices are still cheap at first glance but you have to consider the portion sizes(very small nigiri… Almost 50% smaller than other places) and the quality… At first i was expecting super fresh fish because they are a restaurant supplier but then i remembered that most sushi places around here are not very good so i lowered my expectations… Even with lowered expectations i found the fish to be average to below average… Factoring those things in, this becomes less of a deal… Especially when you hear your total and realize that youre pretty close to the entry fee at japan house’s buffet, where you can get better quality and have all the food you want… I would skip the sushi and go for the other items on the menu… Or check out the many imported items they sell in the store(Just be prepared for prices that seem a little high)

So my taste buds might have been a little messed up the day I went, because I thought the sushi was pretty darn fishy @.@ and I *never* complain about fishy seafood! But kudos to their wasabi, which was one of the most potent I’ve ever had, yummy~~ I’ll stick to the yummy looking curry bowls next time I come :) The big thing for me at Kazy’s is their selection of ceramic plates! :D Need a fancy serving dish, a cute rice bowl, or a teapot gift set? They have it! There’s a small selection in the grocery area, but they have tons more upstairs(just ask where the stairs are)! Really fun to browse ^^b They also sell those plastic sushi to-go containers and take out boxes~

If I could give Kazy 3 ½ stars, I would. but since I can’t, i’ll opt for 4… Kazy is a small, hole in the wall, what is/use to be a small japanese grocery store, is now turned half grocery store, half sushi restaurant. Seats are extremely limited, with only 2 large tables to fit a party of 5(or 6), and a few 2 seater tables, and one ledge with bar stools for additional seating. You walk in, grab a piece of paper on the cashier counter, write in what you want, give your paper to the cashier and you pay right then and there. they’ll give you a ticket number, grab your own utensils, soy sauce, napkins, grab a seat, and wait until your number is called. We ordered:(see photo) — 2 miso soups — seaweed salad — gyoza(8 pc) — hawaiian roll — another roll(i dont remember the name of) — 4 salmon nigiri — 4 tuna nigiri — 2 yellowtail nigiri — 2 ikura(salmon roe) — extra ginger — ramen ** all of this for only $ 45. Miso soups are served in large styrofoam cups, and only .75 cents! great portion and so cheap. I have no complaints with the miso soup. miso soup is miso soup… its kind of hard to mess that up ;) Seaweed salad was also good, gyoza had a stale taste, hawaiian roll and the other roll were both good, not too big, not too small of a cut, and the nigiri were all okay. I say it was«okay» because it was served room temperature. I prefer my nigiri/sashimi cold or on ice. The ramen was obviously made from a powdered broth with too many bean sprouts, and the noodles were over cooked. The ikura was dissappointing and not at all fresh. Some of the roe had a stale, unpleasant jelly like texture and some other roe pieces were OK. I’ve definitely had better roe. One thing I really appreciate about the sushi cuts here, is that each roll comes with only 4 peices. With only 4, it’s «just enough» and if you want more and wanted to try another roll, you can, without«over-buying»… does that make sense? i wish all sushi restaurants offered only 4 peices per roll so I would be more obligated to try other rolls and not feel bad for buying too much food/spending too much money. You dont go to kazy and expect a 5 star experience but the food here is pretty good. I probably wouldn’t go for the gyoza, ikura or the ramen again but you really can’t beat the prices here. We will more than likely be back in the event we are craving sushi and dont want to over-spend, as JR usually does in any sushi restaurant! And since we do crave sushi ALL the time… We will probably be back next week, lol

Went here with a friend for lunch. Smaller than what I expected. First you grab a paper menu from the cashier and fill it in with your name and indicate if it’s for here or to go. And then you turn it in and pay up front at the same counter again. You’ll be handed a number stub and wait for your number to be called out. Ours took a while since it was the lunch rush. I’m fairly pleased with what I ordered for $ 9! I got the Dallas sushi combo and my friend got assorted rolls with shrimp tempura and udon. The nigiri was completely fresh! Surprised at the quality since the place seems run-down. I ran off after finishing my tray first and got some japanese treats. So many colorful variety! *u*

Kazy’s is a very small Japanese grocery store with a restaurant that takes up about 1⁄3 of the store. I am very impressed by how many Japanese snacks, condiments, foods, etc. that they sell. You can also purchase sashimi grade fish from the sushi bar! I tried the shrimp tempura roll, ikura, masago, spicy tuna roll, and the spider roll. I liked everything except for the spider roll. The shrimp tempura roll was delicious! And the ikura was so fresh!!! I will definitely be back for lunch again!

I’ve been here multiple times and mostly during lunch. Their food can be a hit or miss. What I always order: Karaage Chicken, Fireball Roll, Eel Roll and Curry Bowl Skip the ramen, chicken teriyaki rice bowl, You can spend as little as $ 3.50 and be full with a curry bowl. On average I spend $ 8 – 9 for the karaage chicken and two rolls.

If you are looking for cheap and decent and quick Japanese food. This is the place you have come. Well for me since I am an authentic Asian(Cheap), I love to come to this place since I don’t have hundreds of dollars to spend on food. First, most of their Donburi(rice bowl) are under 5 dollars and is decent size, so if you are a girl it will probably fill you up. In addition, most of their rolls are around 2 – 3 dollars. So for me I order a Chicken and egg rice bowl and a LBJ roll(roll with shrimp tempura for only $ 6.50. Around seven dollars you can get decent japanese food! where can you find a deal like this. They also serve different type of japanese food beside rice bowl and rolls like bento box, udon etc. They are also act as a mini Japanese supermarket. They sell different type of Japanese stuff like the green tea Kit Kat, ramen, sushi ingredients. So next time you and a date plan on making sushi. i would recommend come to this place to buy food.
