Came here once before and promised myself not to come back here since the service was horrible the last time I came and the food was just okay. Decided to give it a second try ONLY because another restaurant my bf & I were originally gonna go to was closed :’(I was craving pork intestines and I remembered that’s about the only thing I liked from here. Also thought the ramen would help me stay warm. Welp, the service hasn’t improved at all. I actually think it got worse. After few minutes of sitting, the server did not come over to take our drink order. She disappeared in the kitchen for a few minutes. I decide to go to the restroom and when I returned, I asked my bf if she came to take our drink order yet. But nope, she hasn’t come. I saw that she sat another table while I went to the restroom. They already had drinks, and were already ordering their food. Yay! She finally came over after she saw me staring at her as she was trying to put the other table’s orders in. And guess what? When she came, she asked if we were ready to order. Hello? I guess she missed a step in her«Server’s training 101» because she walked away w. o taking our drink orders and I had to call her back. Enough about the service I suppose. The food is just okay. I ordered the miso ramen and my bf ordered the butter pork ramen. My bf was really bothered by the big chunks of butter they had in his soup. It was enough to satisfy our craving tho. Never order sushi from here. My bf tried to warn me but I really wanted some spider roll and ugh.(As I was typing this, eating the spider roll, I spit a piece out because it wasn’t cooked all the way and you could smell the fishy smell). We ordered pork intestine and it’s been about 40 mins and we haven’t received it. We just asked for the check and I’m now ready to leave. It’s too bad. They have a lot of choices on their menu but it’s just not good. This is a disgrace to Japanese & Chinese restaurants. *edit after leaving: I had to speak to the manager/owner about the service and food. He explained to me why the server was miserable and forgot to tell us that they were out of the pork intestine. Still not gonna change my mind about coming back here even tho the owner was nice and offered us free food & kept apologizing.

Saporo has hit bottom. I used to like eating here but the food and the service are now terrible. Did they change owners? Everything is so different. Even the soup stock taste different, in a bad way. Won’t RTE.

I had dinner at this location twice, and once in Plano. I had the butter roast pork and the regular roast pork ramen. It’s a no. The restaurant in this location is always empty, which made me wonder why they would have«extended hours» till 2am on most days. The wait staff either hardly speak English, or wasn’t attentive. The butter roast pork always came in a chunk of butter. A chunk as in maybe half a block. The meat of the roast pork was way too lean, had no taste to it, and was dry(but soaked in soup)? The soup didn’t have much flavor in it. After having several meals at Tanoshii Ramen in Deep Ellum, this place is a no go.

Sorry, but this place is no good. We came on a Sunday evening and there were maybe about 2 other tables. That’s not always a bad sign, but in this case it was. The menu looked pretty extensive: sushi, ramen, yakitori/robata, and other Japanese dishes. The wife tried the ramen and I ordered a few yakitori and appetizer. The waitress was nice but we asked what was included in the one of the ramen choices and her reponse was, «Pork and ramen…» Everything we ordered had no flavor. Seriously, nothing. The ramen broth was like eating chicken stock and my yakitori(chicken and beef) were slathered with sauce and lacked any flavor at all. Be careful what you order if you really want to try this place, otherwise just skip it entirely. There are many other more authentic Japanese joints to choose from.

The worst sushi ever. The tuna roll didn’t even look like tuna, every roll had chili powder and tempura sauce on it. The squid salad was practically frozen and the music was so weird and too loud. Such a bad experience. Could not pay me to eat here again! This is what you get for going to the wrong sushi place, meant to go to the highly rated one in same shopping center! Ugh!!!

I would have been happier staying home eating Mama instant ramen! I was excited to see such an extensive menu but I had to remind myself that places with extensive menus mean they dabble in a lot of different foods but excel at none of them. There are about 12 or 15 different ramens to choose from. I asked the waitress which was the most popular and she told me the«chung hua.» I asked her what it tastes like and she says it’s «pork and soup.» Oh, ok. That’s not helpful. I got the kimchi ramen because things with kimchi can’t taste bland right? Wrong– it can if they give you spoiled kimchi, which I swear they did. Disgusting. I ended up adding ingredients I found at the table to make the dish palatable(i.e., dousing it to death with soy sauce.) Noodles were under cooked and still tough, couldn’t even do that correctly. The only thing I was pleased with was the water. I expected it to taste like tap water as most Asian restaurant waters do, but it tasted normal. There, I said something nice.

Something has changed here — ownership, cooks, waitstaff — not sure. But the place was empty at lunch, my Ramen had some weird butter flavor to it(I think they confused some orders), and the Pai Gu/Tonkatsu was weird the last time I came as well. I won’t be going back and I’m pretty sure this place will be closing soon.

I used to enjoy coming here as a casual ramen lunch. However, this place has gotten worse over the past few months with both service & meal preparation. I went here last Sunday, and 3 out of 8 of our bowls had clumped up noodles. The waitress didn’t seem to want to hide that she didn’t want to be there. Won’t be back anymore.

Don’t waste your time or money. Everything was terrible. Walked in on a Saturday night, and there were hardly any customers. Should have taken that as a hint. We Ordered 3 pork ramens and shrimp tempura after being ignored by the waitress. Took 20 minutes to order, and another 30 minutes to get our food. Thinking that the long wait we would be presented with fantastic food, we were sorely disappointed. Although the broth was hot, the meat was tough and hard. The«soft boiled» egg was rock hard like a smooth little boulder. Not appetizing at all. The so called«shrimp tempura» only had two shrimps and five other pieces of vegetables. Other places where we’ve ordered shrimp tempura, it actually is all shrimp. The tempura was very soggy– not crispy at all. Wet, rubbery tempura. Just gross. Disappointed. It isn’t like we ordered anything special, just standard fare. Too bad what we received was horribly way below standard. Service was poor, food was poor, and to top it off, the bathrooms were also dirty. Don’t even bother. Be warned!

I’ve gone here twice thus far and wanted to give some time after my first review to make sure it wasn’t a fluke. First experience: Friendly staff– medium sized place. I went in for lunch. I liked the clean japanese décor– it is in the middle of a strip mall but has a pleasant enough touch. Got the spicy ramen and ordered it extra spicy. Wear a Bib! The bowl was big, very oily and full of flavor. Very lean tasty beef pieces. Second experience Coming back again I dragged a bunch of coworkers again for lunch. Spicy pork, spicy kimchi with pork, spicy ramen, a bento, and a normal seafood ramen. Same quality of dark red oily tasty ramen. Everyone really liked it and agreed the broth had lots of flavor. I definitely could have used more spice, but they were accommodating with providing extra sauce on the side. The owner? in his metal shirt I saw there before and likes the music loud– worked fine for me though. He came to our table and said that if we wanted more broth to top off the noodles let us know. I cant imagine finding a better Ramen house around and I’ve had worse for far more expensive. for $ 8 it’s a high recommendation for me. I’d consider it a 4.5 star rounded up. Honestly cannot mesh this experience with the other reviews here. The bento tempura looked good, not that I tried any. Perhaps the dinner chefs are different? no clue

First time here, but… Went with some friends for dinner and ordered a Tuna Sashimi Bento. For some weird ass reason, they kept changing the light level from dim to dark to bright and it was just WEIRD and frankly rather annoying. As for the meal… well to put it shortly: the complimentary tempura was undercooked and the sashimi was disgusting. It was… MUSHY. «Mushy» as in I could mash it into paste with my tongue. It really wasnt very fresh at all. I was skeptical from the start really(The sashimi looked so DULL…) The miso soup wasnt too salty though, which was nice. Overall, 12.50 for mushy sashimi and undercooked tempura was a total joke. Im actually kind of mad. I dont plan on coming back.

When I came here late 2012 with my friend, the ramen WASAWESOME. My taste buds could not imagine how yummy the food was. «5 stars» I said to myself. WAS sooooo good. Returned today 4÷12÷13 with same friend, we decided that the one stars had to be simply from haters. I was wrong and now share their opinion. The spicy pork ramen broth was completely flavorless and tasted like colored water. The noodles were overcooked and flavorless as well. And the pork? Well you’ve guessed it. Flavorless. We both were extremely disappointed when reminiscing the amazingly flavored, yummy ramen from 2012. Ironically we thought the chef was extremely talented, talented in mastering the skill to completely remove the flavor of a food. On a more serious note: it was weird how the broth could have the same color/appearance as before with the immense amount of chili oil, yet have ZEROTASTE. I am so disappointed… the owner or chef MUST have changed since 2012. It’s new location in Plano isn’t that great either.

So I needed something to re-fuel my system after I did my Electric Run last night so it was either phở or ramen. Somehow ramen seemed like a refreshing choice as I haven’t had ramen for quite some time. I always like how Japanese-themed restaurants are intimate yet it can still create a lively atmosphere. Ramen noodles for some weird reason gave me flashbacks and nostalgia of my younger days when I was living in the San Francisco Bay Area. I used to live in an area where there was a reliably good ramen place and I would go there like 2 – 3 times a week for dinner. I ordered the spicy beef ramen, and the spiciness of it was the right amount of what I expected. The cabbage in it was a little off, but everything else — the bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, and the soup was all a good combo. I guess I have found my place for some good ramen to re-live the old days. ;)

The chef(and owner??) bullied me into leaving a(what he assumed would be positive) review, so here I am… It seems that he operates on the principle that you can get people to do whatever you like, as long as you speak loudly(seriously, he’s a major yell-talker) and have a stern look. Sad to say, but I can’t find anything positive to say about this joint. My friends and I wanted to have a nice meal before hitting Tap House for boba… unfortunately, we didn’t find that here. We got there around 1– prime time for lunch– and there was only one couple already there, which should’ve been our first red flag. We all ordered ramen to start, but I changed my mind last minute and ran to the kitchen to tell the waiter– good thing I didn’t wait until he came back to give us water or something, because he never came back. While I was at the counter, I saw a disgusting toaster oven right behind the bar with blackened crumbs and dried food everywhere… flag number two, missed. The chef was the one who I spoke to, and when he heard I didn’t «want» his ramen, he nearly threw a fit. He was super aggressive and made me feel incredibly uncomfortable, arguing and yelling at me. Then, when the chef brought the food after nearly making me cry. Included with my sushi lunch special was a complimentary fish? I honestly don’t know how to finish this story, other than saying that he brought me a disgusting fish with the eyes in to garnish one piece of slimy, nasty sashimi that he said would be the«best I ever had.» Truth? I hid it in my friends’ unfinished bowls of ramen because they hated their ramen(which had an unnatural dirty socks smell) and I was scared of what the chef would do if he saw I didn’t like his precious sushi. This guy is a blowhard, guys. You shouldn’t have to intimidate your customers into eating your food, or convince them before they’ve tasted it. Worst service ever, and the food was worse than grocery store sushi. Hit the place next door instead… they’re always packed and full of smiling Asian families, versus this(rightfully) deserted place.

Sapporo Ramen is honestly a nicely decorated restaurant for China Town in Dallas. It looks like they actually spent some time and money designing and decorating the outside nad inside compared to most of the restaurants in the are. The Ramen is decent, but I am pretty picky when it comes to Japanese food. The broth was ok, and the noodles were just normal packaged noodles. One plus was that it did come with a nice amount of meat(I had the pork ramen). Another bonus was that the side pork fried rice that we ordered was very good. The food comes out quick the service is very good and honestly I am glad that though this store keeps changing owners, the food stays fairly good.

What is up with this Unilocal star rating on this restaurant? I have to admit… I have a good friend that told me about this place and the very first thing I did was look at Unilocal and ask him why he goes there because the rating was so low. I think they have changed owners since this place received this rating… which is fortunate if it was that bad but unfortunate because it might keep people away. I’ve only had the sushi and one cooked dish. There are SO many sushi places but this one is different. The owner/sushi chef, Sean is SUPER-UBER creative! Has all of his fish flown fresh from Japan. The night I was there he cut open a package he just received to show us the inside to show us how fresh it was and the great color on the fish. I felt like I was at the fishing dock it was that fresh! YUM… YUM!!! So…don’t just go by the star rating about this place… HELP this place bring the old star rating UP because it ROCKS!!! Thanks for the great service, Sean! You’re DA-BOMB!!!

I’ve been here twice thinking the ramen would magically taste better the second time, but it didn’t. The ramen is SO Bland and tasteless. My boyfriend dumped about half a bottle of soy sauce in his and loved it, but real ramen doesn’t need soy sauce. I’ve tried two difference ramen types(spicy pork and beef) and it tastes the EXACTSAME. And it LOOKSTHEEXACTSAME. And my boyfriend’s kimchi ramen looks and tastes the exact same as mine except it has kimchi in it. The service wasn’t bad. I don’t think they mean to be rude or short, they just get overwhelmed and very very busy. The owner is really loud. Both times I went, he was very loudly showboating his sushi«skills» and«knowledge» and yammered on during our entire meal. It made me wonder a) Why he has to sell his restaurant so hard and b) Were we not worth it to come say hello to?(He went around greeting all the customers dressed in business casual. I am a 20 something female usually wearing running shorts). (Note: Reading through other reviews it seems like many other patrons also were ignored by the manager while watching him chat up the VIPs. What a jerk.) Trying too hard and the ramen is tasteless. Haven’t tried anything else on the menu but it seems like pseudo-Chinese food to me(fried rice, beef with broccoli, sesame chicken, the usual suspects).

Sapporo is my new favorite sushi place. My wife and I have been going about once a week. I took my parents there for a special occasion dinner last Thursday night and we had a kick ass time. Recommended dishes: Yellowtail Sashimi — it has been soft and fresh and tasty every time XO Sauce Sole — soft, crispy, garlic-y, delicious Live Scallop Carpaccio — an unusual, unmistakeable treat and they seem to always have unusual fishes Sit at the sushi bar! The sushi chef, Sean, is super friendly and a lot of fun. The Rock and Roll stories he tells are a hoot.

I drive back to Dallas once or twice a year, and I saw that this place sprung up. Sometimes new isn’t a good thing. I’ve had better ramen from a $ 4 package. This was a big fail. Roast Pork broth lacked flavor. Aside from the pork, I had to question almost everything else in there. .. noodles — barely any. Green onions — thick and not flavorful. Little bits of cabbage that tasted more like lettuce. Half an egg that I could have boiled myself yesterday. It looked like an egg that you would add to a chef salad, not to soup. I should have talked to a friend about this place. He told me that regretfully, he went there on a short trip back to Dallas as well. The waitress didn’t know the difference between a hard boiled egg and a soft boiled. Save your money and time. My $ would have been better spent at McDonalds — two orders of 20 piece nuggets — at least that would have had flavor with those dipping sauces. ..

I’ve been anticipating a real Ramen place to open up in Dallas and it’s finally here! The chef is apparently from Hokkaido which is one of my favorite places to eat in Japan. There used to be another noodle place(Ajisen) here but this just opened up a few weeks ago. We had the original cha shu ramen, the spicey ramen, and another beef ramen just to sample a few… So the soup base is the key to awesome ramen, should be white from being cooked all night with pork and all sorts of fatty goodness — check. The soup is delicious, I drank it down to the last drop. The noodle’s are perfectly al dente and fresh — check. The egg… hmm a little overcooked. If I compare this to Tampopo which also has really good ramen, I would say Sapporo taste a little more like the ramen in Japan because of the soup base. There’s other things on the menu as well like yakitori and izakaya type dishes but we didn’t get to try everything. The Hamachi kama wasn’t the best, may have been overcooked, but I’m definitely going back to try the other items. O and It’s BYOB for now — big plus! :)
