Seeing the prices of their burgers and sandwiches, I had higher expectations of the food quality than what was delivered. I ordered a «Hot Cowboy»($ 8.49) on a Gluten Free bun(+$ 1.99). The ingredients were listed as: «jakes hickory sauce, double meat, jalapeño bacon and chipotle cheddar cheese.» Strangely, though, there were bits of old lettuce just hanging out in parts of the wax wrapper(which looked strikingly similar to the thin, translucent«cheese»). There were also poppy seeds randomly stuck to the bottom of the(typically naked) gluten free bun. It’s been made abundantly clear that Jakes does NOT care about cross-contamination when it comes to allergens.

Go for the jalapeño bottle caps! They were delicious. And the server was there when you needed him, very thoughtful. Kids had the burgers which tasted yummy. Like a good burger! My chicken Caesar was so-so. Music too loud but we huddled to compensate The patio was delightful even though the heat spiking 100* with the misters and vines.

Called in a pick up order. Told the waitress on the phone that I wanted 2 bacon cheeseburgers she took my order and repeated 2 #3s. I didn’t have the menu in front of me so I just said ok. I forgot to check my order when I picked it up but once getting home I realized that they didn’t have bacon on them. I was pretty upset seeing as I had just spent $ 20 on 2 burgers

So I came here last Saturday to eat. I have to say that I like jakes burgers. the atmosphere was good for a Saturday it was not that pack which was interesting. had a few drinks there and had a great conversation with some of the people at the bar. I would have to say that the bartender she could have been a bit more engaging with us at the bar. Overall it was a great place in my opinion would differently go back.

Burger the is alright for franchise restaurants, HopDoddy and Twisted Root may be slightly better but that’s just my opinion. Had an issue this past weekend where the server tipped themselves more than what I put on the ticket(leaving it up to me to let it go or contact managment). I won’t be back to this location for a while.

Amazing burger, racist service though. Last time I went here because I wanted to take my out of town family members to a good burger place, unfortunately the experience with the waitress was negative even though we went at a time of the day when the place was almost empty. It was unfortunate that I chose this place to show a good part of Dallas and encountered the bad kind of Dallasite. I’ve been here 3 times and I’ve always loved the food and hated the service.

Let’s face it, bar food is not a high bar to hit. Yet this place consistently misses the mark. Location is great and convenient for me so I’ve been here several times. Every time it has been the same: Grease Burger… Old fry oil… Music too loud(even for a bar.) I suspect that this place survives on the location and the fact that they only hire cute, young waitresses. It really has no other redeeming values. In the future I’m going to find someplace else.

We have been to the one in frisco and now the one in uptown. My boyfriend likes it, I am not a fan. Both places they hire ditzy girls who wear short shorts but can’t get your order right. For me the burgers are bland. Like no flavor. I had to add ranch dressing to get some kind of flavor. I will say the sweet potato fries with the marshmallow dipping sauce is really good but that’s all I really liked. I had such high hopes. I’d rather go to whataburger.

They definitely have delicious food! Even on Saturday’s their customer service is excellent. We mostly do carry out for my job but they always make sure our order is 100% correct and that we have everything we need. Keep up the good work!

Flaming Roaster on a POPPYSEEDED with tater-tots. Yes, they have tater-tots and I love a tater!!! …and if you don’t want poppy seeds just let them know. Wait staff is just ‘okay’ but … it’s bar. I really like the Uptown location, the patio, the TVs, Bar and the music! Parking at lunch can be challenging, but never too bad. I recommend, giving Jakes a try. I think you’ll like it.

Came here with my other half to sate her craving for cheese fries. All of their burgers online looked very good and the description of the fries looked very tasty with good shredded cheese on top verses nacho cheese. The waitress described the regular portion as a nice sized basket of fries as well. When the order arrived, the cheese looked like a slice of melted american on top, and the size was not as described.

The burgers were good, as always. but service here is no good. We wanted an egg in our burger and we were told by our server that they couldn’t do that. We said it was okay… usually the jakes I go to in Frisco allows us to with 1 $ up charge. Our server could’ve cared less about our table. Didn’t stop by our table that much and was in a not so happy mood. We had to flag people down to get help quite a few times. I’ll stick to the Frisco location I usually go to.

I have been to both the original Jakes, the one in Uptown, and the one on Henderson. I think there are four things that make this type of burger place good: the burger, the cheese fries, the beer, and atmosphere. Jakes is just the worst for all 4. I am never going back. If you want great cheese fries, you just can’t beat Snuffers. For beer, Goodfriends, the Rustic, or Hop Doddy. For burgers I like Snuffers or Hop Doddy. For atmosphere, Jakes sets the bar pretty low.

Third stop. Great atmosphere with a deck that overlooks McKinney Avenue. It was slow when I came in this afternoon. Flavorful, juicy burger and fries were good — prefer the onion rings though. Wait staff is friendly but could be just a little more attentive.

I came to Jake’s since my 6 year old kid wanted to eat a cheeseburger, and we were in the neighborhood… so, I’ll be quite frank about this place, it’s a restaurant that’s more of a bar that offers food. And they also offer some Eye Candy since they do have some attractive waitresses. Sort of like a Hooters mentality… so, your eyes will be active. ;) I just didn’t feel that I was in a Burger Joint at all. As for their food, the burgers are bit overpriced for what you get,(the burgers aren’t that big). I mean, the price you pay on a burger… you kinda expect to get fries with it. But, that’s not the case! You have to pay extra for basic fries that are somewhat generic… there’s nothing special about them. And if you order the Sweet Potato Fries… please be aware that they’re sweet. Don’t get me wrong, they’re good. But, I expected them to be spicy or with some spice… something that I could eat with ketchup. You know? I just didn’t expect them as a dessert… just my take. Overall, I was cool with my experience since I was treated well, and the service was good. And of course, the Eye Candy eased my pain of overpaying for average burgers. I could have had better food at Burger King… and that there is sad for me to say since I’m an easy person to please and I don’t mind paying higher prices if the quality is there.

Just walking up, I fell in love with the misters on the patio! When it is 100+ degrees outside, every bar/patio should have them. The menu offers many gourmet burgers, and even wonderful sides and desserts. My husband and I ate the mushroom & swiss and the burger of the month, the Texas Torta. Both were deliciously full of flavor and texture! Though we didn’t drink, they have a full bar and many beers on tap. Has your fave bar casual feel mixed with an old school café. Service was distant, but the atmosphere definitely made up for it.

Nope. I work across from here and haven’t been in a while. Stopped in to grab some fries to go. After I leave I open the bag… $ 2 for about 15 fries? Don’t think so. Never again. Pics to follow.

This review is purely based on happy hour. Honestly one of the hardest to beat! Great cocktails and domestic beer for cheap. Yes, I’m a lightweight, and their frozen margarita did its job! I also ordered the fried green beans, which were delicious. I may never eat regular green beans again… Girl friend got the sweet potato fries dusted in sugar with marshmallow sauce. I’m not a fan of sweet potatoes but Jakes does theirs right! Jakes is a great place to meet up with friends for tasty cheap drinks and apps.

Jakes Uptown is a bar & restaurant that serves up a number of different hamburger/sandwich options, sides, & drinks. It’s a very casual restaurant that(depending on your likes) can offer up a number of burger combinations catered to your tastes. My Overall Rating — 2 ½ Stars(Atmosphere, Service, Food) Atmosphere — Jakes Uptown feels more like a bar than restaurant. It’s got a divey feel, outdoor seating, and is a very casual fare. Now, if you are looking for a nice sports bar to catch the game and grab a burger, Jakes is right up you alley. If you want a gourmet burger in a fantasy setting, look elsewhere. But then again, Jakes Uptown doesn’t pretend to be something it is not. It is what it is, and that is not a bad thing. 1 Star. Service — The service is friendly and caters to the male crowd. We caught the tail end of a late lunch and they were still pretty crowded; however, we were able to get a seat immediately and our orders placed right away. There is not much more you could ask for, so in my book the service was great. 1 Star. Food — When it comes to hamburgers, I like to order a basic burger to judge the quality. One thing I will say is that if you are a fan of poppy seed buns, Jakes is for you. As for me, they really got in my way, but not to the point where it was unbearable. The real problem is that it is just an average burger. The meat really didn’t exhibit much flavor, and the cheese was not melted on the patty. In addition to this, the seasoned fries were a letdown. The fries are cut pretty thick, and you must get to them early before they dry out. The one item that we enjoyed quite a bit were the fried green beans. They were probably the only thing I would order again. ½ Star. Will I Return? — As much as I tried to find an excuse to come back(location, atmosphere, etc.), I couldn’t. There are now too many great burger restaurants that I’d rather go to. I think Jakes is a good option if you live in the area and want a laid back setting. Me? I want a great not just good burger. No Star. My Unilocal Rating Scale(Sum of all parts): 1 Star — Atmosphere — Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I’ll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star — Service — You can have a great meal with bad service. But that’s also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It’s important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars — Food — I’ll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it’s really all about the food. 1 Star — Will I come back? — If I know for a fact I’ll return, I’ll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food(2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Unilocal score.

Tasty burger from someone you know but it’s not as good as the original. Happy to see this is not an over the top burger joint opening in a swanky part of town. I’m used to the Skillman dive and love it. TVs on the big game but no audio Mostly 20somethings with a comfortable few elders. Fried green beans: are ok to start. Good size basket easily shared between two or three. Getting bigger(more locations) and growing the business is a good thing. Losing track of the quality and service, that’s not. I’ll pass on the clientele and get more bang for my buck at the original. Thanks anyway.

Meh. Not great. Not bad. Decent burger but doesn’t compare to a place like Hopdoddy’s. Not even close. More in the vein of whataburger if anything. Ordered a cheddar burger with hickory sauce. Cheese wasn’t melted. Hickory sauce is standard sugary BBQ sauce. Accompanying fries were lukewarm. Wouldn’t go back but I wouldn’t avoid it either.

I heard about Jakes from my co-worker, so I was happy to finally get a chance to try. They have a lot of unique options as far as burgers go. A lot of them involve double meat. I had the grilled chicken sandwich, and it was pretty good. I really liked the poppy-seed bun. This location has more of a bar feel because it is in uptown. When we arrived, we just kind of found a place to sit, and eventually our server found us. It was kind of dead for a Friday night, but the food was pretty good.

The button burger, number eight on the menu is what I suggest here at Jakes in Uptown! Its one great cheat meal, pure cheat meal. It’s a double meat cheese burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard and key ingredient is sliced jalapeños that are sliced and deep fried. Oh my, it’s pure sin and cholesterol. When I bit in to this heavenly /sinful treat of a burger I can hear my arteries cringe and beg for forgiveness. First time here I asked the waitress what she recommended and it was this burger, the number eight. Evidently they try different burgers each month, and so many folks liked this one burger that they put it back on the menu after management kept hearing the voice of their customers! I love it when the customers tell the store /management what they like and they listen! My first time here was several years ago, loved the burger! The second time, I brought some family members, tried the number eight burger again and it was fantastic once again. Then a little time had passed and I sat down to write a review for the place. I started going over my notes and here it was St. Patrick’s Day I had really no plans to get out, the weather was rainy, and lots of folks were out and had been drinking. After going over my notes about this simple deadly little burger, well, I had just talked myself into going right back and having it again. It is just that good! Simply put, it’s a great«cheat meal» burger! You know I’ll be back for that button burger!

I’m from Ohio and this stretch of restaurants was recommended by our hotel. I wanted something that I couldn’t get anywhere else(like a plain, regular burger) and the server did a great job at being honest about what was the best. I got the screaming rooster, which was fantastic. The fresh chopped onion and tomato that can on it pulled the whole chicken burger together. I also got the mozzarella wedges, which were cooked too long – they got so hot, the cheese completely melted, so I was just eating fried breading. We also got one of the jumbo drinks, which was way too big for the two of us – we barely finished half of it. Service was ok. Hostess was nice, but the waitress kept coming up to us asking if we were finished with our appetizer when it was very obvious we were not finished, especially because we still had more than half of our jumbo drink left. The prices here were awesome! Very inexpensive for really great food. Definitely recommend this place!
