The people are awesome and friendly and the pastas are huge! It’s enough for two meals at around 8 dollars, plus they include the really yummy garlic knots. I ordered over the phone for pickup at lunch on a Friday and it was ready in 10 minutes.

Will Italia Express be winning any awards for the best pizza on Earth any time soon? Definitely not but for those of us who work in the Design District, this is truly a hidden gem. Italia Express offers quick and friendly service and the pricing is a total steal. The slices are HUGE and you can get two of them plus a drink for just $ 7.99 during lunch. When I am in a hurry but don’t want to sacrifice a meal on boring drive-thru food, this is the place I will always go!

They are one of the few places around that will deliver to us at work(government building and all of the«chain» places have rules against delivering to us) so we have been ordering from them on a regular basis for a few years. Delivery is very fast(they are practically next door so no surprise there) and food is always piping hot when we get it. They are very good about customizing orders for us. Any time we have ever had an issue with an order they will comp us a free meal the next time we order. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and all of it is delicious but I would say that my «go-to» item on the menu is probably the italian sub. Also would like to note that because of our long term standing with them anytime I’ve wanted to make a single order that didn’t meet the minimum delivery amount the owner will still have my order delivered to the building if I meet the driver outside, which is great when I forget to bring lunch.

I am originally from NY, and New Yorkers are pizza snobs. I haven’t tried every place in Dallas that has pizza, but so far this is as close as I have found to NY pizza. I am a fan of their plain cheese pizza but have had some toppings that were good too. My favorite combo is jalapeño, onion and pineapple. After reading some of the other reviews, I want to try an eggplant parm sandwich. I may have more to add in the future… I have tried a salad and desert, was not impressed.

Guys inside were extremely friendly. Garlic knot things were extremely tasty. Pizza… extremely mediocre… but quick and priced reasonably at least

The food was your typical Italian food; however the service was great. Not only did they delivery(which alot of majority of Dallas restaurants claim they do but a 3 block radius doesn’t count– even if you live downtown!) but they did it in the rain in still record time. There was confusion regarding my gate access code and the driver was extremely patient. Also, as a first time customer– the employee on the phone gave me his recommendations and preferences to the menu.

I will most likely up my rating after another couple of visits. First of all, for me it’s real convenient. The location is about a mile from where I live, so I don’t have to drive far. They say that they deliver, but I normally just pick up dinner when I’m on my way home from work. The staff has always been very friendly whenever I go. They offer a lot of good daily specials which I used to try, but once I tried the eggplant parmesan sub, I was hooked! The bread is what really makes it for me. It’s a huge, soft roll that is baked to perfection. I don’t know where they get them from, but I need to ask next time I go. The eggplant itself tastes good. Nicely cooked with a little sauce and some cheese on the bottom. They give you an extra container of marinara that comes in handy. The whole box comes with the sub, the sauce, and a bag of chips. The sandwich by itself is so huge that you won’t need anything else. The best part of all of this is the price… the whole meal comes in at around 7 bucks. You can’t beat it. I definitely recommend Italia. Location, cost, taste… it covers all of the bases.

Excellent fresh food and very friendly and helpful service. We are from our of town but this will become a stop each time we make it to Dallas! Eggplant Pasta was awesome! And my husband ordered the Calzone which was prepared right in front of us.

I’m kind of under the impression that the person that used to own Roma Express in downtown now owns this place. I boycotted them once after taking hours to get a pizza delivered. I have ordered from Itialia Express a couple of times without fail. Then I wanted a supreme pizza one evening that was delivered timely, but it was pepperoni only. Fast forward a few weeks later and I wanted a supreme pizza(again). About an hour and a half later I had to call. The guy kind of yelled and said his driver was stuck in traffic. My cold pizza arrived about 2 hours on the dot. And it was an effin pepperoni pizza again. I’m writing this place off. Again.

I am not a big fan of italian food… it is good but for some reason I do not like going out and getting it. But this little place is near my work and they are super nice. The owner is always smiling and giving me compliments and he has even made me a special veggie calzone once. They have salads that are pretty good too. I have not tried any of the sandwiches yet. So far all is good.

Super nice people but everywhere lately has fallen just slightly short of a NY slice. The sauce was very tangy. I felt it was over sauces a bit. Crust needs to be slightly thinner than they are making it. I bet you’d get better results buying a fresh pie but I just did a slice. :-) I’m coming back for the friendly people. Lots of police presence especially since this neighborhood is near the jail and up and coming. Dallas county Sherrifs officers seem to like this place alot. Bön appetito!

I’m going to make this one super simple. It’s good cheap food. Italian lunch dive run by a Hispanic dude? I first thought, «Hmmmm, I don’t know.» BUT I loved it! The food was delish, plentiful, and cheap. The employees were all friendly too. I tried the chicken parm sub and the eggplant parm sub. The chicken was a bit overdone but the eggplant was AMAZING! I ate there 3 times over a couple of weeks when I was working in the Design District. I paid 7 bucks and change for a ginormous sub, a bag of Lay’s chips, and a drink. I ate half the sub and took the other half and chips to go. The little garlic knots dipped in marinara are fantastic! My coworker loved the manicotti. I don’t know if they make their own bread for the subs or not but it is such good bread! Funny Story: The second visit I had, the owner recognized me and greeted me. Once I got my sub I bit into it and heard someone make a loud, «Mmmmmmmmm» sound… As I looked around I realized it was the owner making sound effects while I ate! LMAO! My coworker and I had a good laugh from that, although it was a bit weird. :-P

The pizza, stromboi, and calzone are good, but for my money the roast beef sandwich at $ 5.50 is tough to top(pictured). Generous amounts of beef, piled high on Italian bread properly saturated with grease and sautéed onion residue combine to form a masterpiece. I am certain this sandwich is a cardiologist’s dream, sure to keep local physician’s clientele streaming in, but if so inclined it is also possible to do the right thing. Several salads are available including Garden, Ceasar, Chicken, Italian and Greek. They all look good from a distance but I have no firsthand knowledge on how they taste. I usually gravitate toward the artery blockers on the menu. Quite reasonable, the menu boasts huge sandwiches and subs for less than ten bucks. 18″ pizzas can be had for $ 11.95. «Designer» pies in the extra large variety will require you to part with $ 18.75. Some of the toppings you can find here but not at Pizza Hut include anchovies, gorgonzola & feta cheese, egg plant and artichoke hearts. The appetizers-as-a-meal garlic rolls(six for $ 2) are awesome. Italia Express also has a reasonable catering menu if you need to make amends with your colleagues at work, reward your staff, or accrue brownie points. Three extra large designer pizzas can be had for fifty bucks(feeds ten). Pasta for ten can be had forty dollars. Subs for ten folks are available for even less scratch. While visiting you can glance out the window and witness firsthand construction of Dallas’ «Margaret Hunt Hill Signature Bridge». At the current rate, construction should be complete in your lifetime provided you are less than forty and in good health. Only in Dallas can taxpayers be talked into paying millions for a bridge… but not something like Cowboys Stadium which has the potential to eventually generate revenue. I digress. The monstrosity is only a stones throw from the tiny strip mall in which Italia resides. This site may be one of the few places in the world where you can marvel at how little $ 120 million buys while at the same time marveling at just how much food can still be had for six bucks. In my opinion the city would have been better served buying all of its citizens a roast beef sandwich and using the hundred million plus in change to patch potholes. I used to tag the project«the bridge to nowhere», but at least now I can find one legitimate reason to cross it.

I was trying to find a way to see all the places I’ve checked into recently, but unless I leave a quick tip I can’t see all the places. Lesson learned. But I saw the ones I haven’t reviewed so… here I am. Yay check-ins! Moving along. I had only started working at my current job for a week when I finally decided to have lunch here after driving by it every day. I heard it was pretty good, and being a BIG supporter of local businesses, figured why not. I love pizza, and it’s hard for me to find one I don’t like. Fortunately, it was the case with this little pizza joint. Owned by an energetic Hispanic guy who basically runs the kitchen by himself(with help from a couple of people), I wasn’t expecting quality food. I was wrong. The pizza was fresh out of the oven. The crust was definitely not frozen. The sauce was tangy and yummy. Cheese was just how I love it, squeaky and cheese-tastic! I haven’t been back since, but after this I’m thinking I owe it another visit in the near future.
