Food can be hit or miss, but usually is a hit if you order a salad. Easy to have conversations there and the scenery is wonderful — Fountain Place’s water gardens are amazing.

Oh Avanti, you still glimmer with late 1980’s glamour with your fancy fountain views and gaudy green marble. Although your cheap drink special board out front kind of dampens your coolness. Since I work in Fountain Place, I frequent Avanti from time to time, mostly happy hours but the occasional lunch as well. The lunch specials are decent for both dining in as well as grabbing lunch to go. Service is always decent for both lunch and happy hour. The specials on drinks are usually a hit as well. Many of my colleagues enjoy the«Tito’s Thursday» special for happy hour. They also have a“Ladies Night” with free appetizers. Kinda cool for the ladies, kinda cheeseball overall. Overall, I wouldn’t say that Avanti has stellar food but it’s great location, great views, nice drink specials, and good service bring people back over and over again.

I work upstairs in Fountain place, and this is a fantastic place to go to if you just want to relax after work with a few drinks. Beers are pretty affordable(around $ 2-$ 2.50) and the service is great. The food is so-so, but they go well with drinks. The atmosphere is pretty nice, and you’re surrounded by a bunch of fountains. I would highly suggest this place if you work close, or just want some place to socialize after work.

Mrs. Bear and I attended a happy hour event here during the workweek. I was immediately impressed by the spacious dining room with surrounding picture windows providing an excellent view of all the fountains in the back(why it’s called Fountainplace). The small bar at the entrance also had a few tables nearby. They were serving excellent margaritas on the day of our visit. I must say that this place had the best bar appetizers I have had in the Dallas area — the quality of the food was stunning! The fish and chips is the best such dish I’ve had anywhere in my travels, and the other appetizers were equally superb. My only negative comment, and it really has nothing to do with the restaurant itself, is that the parking lot closest to the place charges $ 10 to park, even for one hour! Not uncommon for a big city I suppose, but gouging nonetheless.

It was absolutely gorgeous and serene. I’m so glad i stopped by. Too bad it was a weekend and not all the fountains were on. But so beautiful nonetheless. It’s amazing to see something so gorgeous in a concrete jungle of Dallas.

Okay, this review is going to be really biased, but it’s honest nonetheless. I had my wedding at Avanti Fountain Place this last weekend, and it was a dream come true. Everything was perfect, from the fountains to the bar staff. I can’t imagine a better way to say I Do or a more worthwhile place to lay down the thousands and thousands of dollars that go into the monstrous production that is A Wedding. Amy Lowe, the event coordinator at Avanti, is a sweetheart and helped me through every step of my day. She gently informed me of where I needed to be and when. And she made my whole family feel relaxed and joyful. If there were any problems at all that day, I have no idea what they were. Everything was orchestrated by Amy so that I could keep my attention on what mattered… my loved ones and my new husband. To all brides: you should definitely consider Avanti. Amy helped me specialize my menu(and the food was ohmygod incredible) and select all my linens and draw up a floor plan and do a million other things that I was probably too flustered to do myself. Plus, Avanti includes the cost of tables, chairs, linens, plates, glasses, and utensils in the cost of the venue, and they handle the vendors who deliver those materials, so you will save yourself a lot of headache by reducing the number of vendors that you deal with directly. So… I told you it would be biased, but it probably doesn’t matter. As long as the bride loves her wedding, everything is well with the world. If you have your wedding here, you will love it!

Okay, I agree with John A. that the menu is boring. But the food isn’t THAT bland and flavorless. Sure, it’s overpriced for what it’s worth, but I don’t think most people who eat here are paying out-of-pocket anyway. Most of the time, you will find business people dining here, whose companies budget for $ 60 a day meals. It’s the best meal they can get without having to leave the building for lunch. I have eaten a few things off the lunch menu – mostly the Grimaldi salad, which is actually very good and my favorite thing to order! Chicken parmesan was good and flavorful. Diablo chicken was just fine. Never had a problem eating here. The service can be a little spotty. I once had to wait 30 min. for a salad! The entire restaurant is encased in glass walls and there are fountains right outside. It looks nice, but make sure you speak up when you are in a group setting. The outside water and other parties chatting in a very acoustic setting make for individuals competing for the loudest voice in the room. Also, Avanti Fountain Place is a venue for weddings and quinceñeras. Sometimes you can see an event/wedding planner giving bridezilla and her groom + mom a tour of the place. Which I think is distracting… Happy hour isn’t bad here. No beer on tap, but hey, the drinks aren’t too steep. Appetizer menu isn’t as happenin’ as their lunch menu. The pizza is pathetic, hot wings are ordinary, and their chicken burrito tastes like it has Indian spices thrown in there, which is really quite confusing! So skip the food, and go straight to drinks.

This is a very nice building and there are plenty of amenities inside. The exterior is very nice, lots of shade, water fountains. The restaurant was a little disappointing. It has a really strange feel while your eating… I can’t even describe it but its stale or cold… a total lack of atmosphere and soul. The food is as flavorful as styrofoam… really disappointing, save your money. I haven’t had the drinks, but I can’t imagine there much to rave about.

Avanti gets three stars solely on being the only bar in Fountain Place. The food is bland and boring: grilled chicken sandwiches, grilled chicken pasta, shrimp pasta, a burger… pretty much what you’d expect from a restaurant in a downtown office building or an airport Ramada. But the bar is great for when we get off work and don’t want to drive or walk far. The glass patio-like room is surrounded by fountains, and the staff is very attentive — quick with another beer or one of their bloody marys(which are surprisingly good).
