Hunan Express

Combination lo mein, extra spicy, with extra shrimp was so good, I didn’t even use soy sauce! Egg rolls are huge (and tasty), and the General tso’s chicken was really good, too.

Food was good– the usual Chinese food I expected. Got sesame chicken with fried rice, and spring rolls. Spring rolls were very small, sesame chicken portion was enough for 2. Customer service was pretty horrible. 2 miles away from me & took an hour to deliver on a Sunday night. When I called to check on order status at 50 minutes after placing the order, no one answered so I kept trying back a few times– they finally called back and asked if I wanted to place an order & I said no I was calling to check on mine, and they hung up. Won’t be ordering from here again!

Excellent! So today I’ve been craving a really good hot and sour soup because my allergies are terrible at the moment, and nothing else sounded quite as good as some H&S soup (or ok, maybe some hot sake) to open up my airways until I can get to a steamroom later. I of course Unilocaled for the best Chinese delivery closest to my office and stumbled upon Hunan Express. The reviews for their H&S soup were extremely favorable, so I decided to give it a try. A cup of soup is more like the size of a bowl of that contains just the right seasoning and spicy goodness that one expects. This yummy soup is delivered piping hot with just the right consistency of broth (not too thick/​not too thin) coupled with fresh, sliced shitake mushrooms, bamboo shoots, green onions, a little tofu and all the heavenly goodness that goes in to this creation. I also ordered a dish called the Treasure Hunt (I ordered mine medium spicy) that comes with fresh chicken, tender cuts of beef, snap peas, baby bella mushrooms, sliced carrots and strips of water chesnuts served in a succulent brown sauce. Everything is so fresh! I’ve nibbled on the entrée and plan to save the rest for dinner. I can’t get enough of this soup at the moment! Thank you Hunan! I know who to call anytime I get a weekday H&S soup craving! Thanks for great delivery service and for your promptness. I’ll be calling again, you can count on it.

Love this place! Used to eat there almost everyday when I worked at UT Southwestern. Good prices… the hot & sour soup is good, and I’m always particular about my hot & sour soup. Most of the entrees are good, esp the General Tso’s, Orange Beef, Sesame Chicken, & String Bean Chicken. They will always make you something fresh if they have the ingredients in the back kitchen and it is not out on the bar. Always have different selections of fried rices and lo-​meins. I don’t like the pork egg rolls though, I prefer the spring rolls. They even have a grilled vegetable dish in white sauce as their «healthier» option. Love them!
