Food was ok but the insane prices for the tiny portions will make me never come back. Seriously, 10 $+ for entrees the size of small appetizers anywhere else should not be a thing in tiny hole in the wall restaurants.

This is the best place to get Popusas in Oak Cliff. A popusa is a traditional Salvadoran icon .Like tacos would be for Mexico. And hamburgers would be for The U.S. The thing that makes this guys better Is they make the popusas made to order. FRESH my friends. So yes you will wait a while for your Popusas specially if the person in front of you ordered the same thing. But definitely worth the wait. Need to mention this is more of a take out than dine in.

I checked this place out for lunch today and have completely mixed feelings about it. The food was quite simply outstanding. I had the Beef Fajita plate and the meat was well seasoned and the fajitas were as good as you’ll find anywhere. The rice and beans were both good. The tortillas were interesting. They were corn but much thicker than typical corn tortillas. more like thick flour tortillas. My only issue with the fajita plate was that they only included 2 tortillas and there is more than enough meat for 3. I also ordered the plantain plate. The plantains were tasty but a bit greasy. They were not served as elegantly as I have seen at other restaurants. As much as I loved the food, I detested the ambiance just as much. First of all this is located in a somewhat shady cramped shopping center. The restaurant itself is tiny. It seems to be more of a place to pickup an order than to eat in the restaurant. I would have expected a bigger location even for a hole in the wall. One table is even situated such that if someone is sitting in their seat the soda machine is inaccessible(directly above/behind the chair). After browsing some of the food items on the internet I made the improper assumption that this was a sit down place where someone brings a menu out to you. However, that is not the case at all. You just walk up to the counter and order from a menu on the wall. Obviously this restaurant model has proven to be successful for places like La Hechizera but I think this place could be so much more. The wall menu was incomplete. Most importantly, it lacked any prices! So I had no clue how much I was going to be spending. One lady that was in the store actually went back to her car to get more money. perhaps she had been confused as well. Also, I didn’t see the plantains on the wall menu but I knew they were served so(with the help of another customer’s translation) I ordered them. The woman at the front was very friendly but her English was not good. I actually wanted to eat at the restaurant and wanted a cup for water but she made my meal to go(no water) which I was ok with since the ambience was not great and it appeared people that eat in were eating off paper plates and plastic wear. Anyways, I spent $ 15.16 for a fajita plate and a plantain plate. Was it $ 10 for the fajitas and $ 5 for the plantains or was it $ 8 for the fajitas and $ 7 for the plantains? Who knows!!! Anyways, I will probably not be coming back to this place anytime soon(prefer to go to Mario’s on lemmon instead for an actual sit-down experience at a similiar price point). My hope would be that someday the owners of this restaurant purchase a larger spot in a better location. perhaps somewhere on Davis Street near Bishop Arts. I’ve only been here once but I can tell you that the food quality really warrants a better location… a sit down place, that serves complimentary chips and salsa(I felt like it was taking forever to get my order… no it wasn’t, but I just didn’t have anything to bide my time). I think they could keep their prices the same or possibly even a slightly lower price point given economies of scale(ie the customer base is going to be so small in their current location that they have to charge a relatively high price just to stay in business).

I love this little place! The food is great and the people are warm and friendly. You can be assured that everything on the menu will be a good choice. :)
